Veronica Eden is a USA Today and International bestselling author of romances with spitfire heroines, irresistible heroes, and edgy twists.
She loves exploring complicated feelings, magical worlds, epic adventures, and the bond of characters that embrace us against the world. She has always been drawn to gruff bad boys, clever villains, and the twisty-turns of a morally gray character. She is a sucker for a deliciously swoony hero with a devastating smirk. When not writing, she can be found soaking up sunshine at the beach, snuggling in a pile with her untamed pack of animals (her husband, dog and cats), and surrounding herself with as many plants as she can get her hands on.
Harper James has been living a lie. Well, a lie to everyone including herself. She may have been the star cheerleader when she was in high school, but after a year at NYU she found that it was fun to be herself. She hid the changes from her best friends which was easy with them in California and her 3,000 miles away, but now that it was summer, and she was home she knew they needed to see her. As they all met at the pier for fun and rides, Harper gave them the glimpse to the real her. What she didn’t have planned was that she would launch her Slurpee all over someone while trying to walk. Making it worse… it was the one boy that always gave her the hardest time- Logan Roth. As his group of friends and Harper’s group decide to ride the rides together, she learns that he isn’t a fan of them. So, they spend the afternoon together while the rest of the ride together. As these two learn that they have more in common then either realized, there is a chance more could develop, that is if they allow it.
I love these sweet summer romances when they both have no idea how special the other person really is until they are forced together. This is just a novella, so super quick read but honestly, we all need these little books and Veronica did an amazing job writing this love story. I would even love a follow-up couple chapters to see how things are a few years later because come on, they deserve their HEA.
Gave this a read as VE has been an author on my tbr for a while now and I figured this short would be an ideal way to get a feel for her writing.
Haze is a light-hearted, quick and easy read about two teenagers who have somewhat escaped their teenage/high school bubble and have realised there's more to the world than just what your small group of friends think.
Harper, in particular, has started to learn how to open up and embrace what she actually likes, instead of just going along with the crowd. In doing so, she's able to take a chance on 'skater boy' Logan, who she never saw eye to eye with in school.
This was cute and flowed well. I do prefer longer books as it obviously allows for more development, but this felt very realistic in regards to what it can be like in high school and how others can influence you. But I liked that when Harper did explain to her friends that she was with Logan and she enjoyed skateboarding, they were supportive of her instead of turning up their noses. It made for a change as normally the 'cheerleader' stereotype sticks for these types of characters and they're always seen as the bitchy friends.
3.7* - A nice introduction to VE's writing and I'll most likely be checking out more of her work.
I have a love and hate relationship with short stories, especially when it comes from my favorites authors. I loved Logan and Harper and I didn’t want it to end, but everything Veronica writes it’s always amazing so it’s worthy either way. I love it! It was fresh and light, I wish we could see more of them!
This is a sweet story of two college students on summer break who thought they hated each other alk through high school. One day changes everything they thought exists between them. This is different from everything I ever read of Veronica's, and it is just as enjoyable as the rest of her books. Enjoy.
Now this was a good novella! I would love, love, love to read more about Harper and Logan. I'm not a fan of the whole "boy treats you poorly because he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings for you" but it worked here, it wasn't a bully romance. It definitely felt like a bit silly and very "teenagey" but I liked it and will definitely read more from Veronica.
A perfect little romance about two former high school classmates who find each other again and fall in love. I really enjoyed this little read as an in between for my bigger books!
