A new series by R.L.Kenderson… erm yes please.

Not another Manwhore is about a fake day to a wedding. It’s fun, they couple have great chemistry and the story kept me hooked right till the end.

Every singleton hates the that dreaded question… so when’s it your turn to get married? When Bree finds herself under pressure to have a date for a wedding she tells a tiny white lie. When that wedding comes around, that white lie turns into a reality… only it’s fake. Will one wedding date turn into more?

A great opener to a new series and I look forward to more.

Just Getting Started

RL Kenderson Not Another Romance bk 01 Not Another Manwhore

Oh, poor Bree Keller! I feel bad for anyone whose family leans so heavily into the importance of being married and reproducing. Don't get me wrong, I've happily done both, but the pressure to do so is unnecessary. It leads to situations like this - the fake relationship. OK, fine. A fake relationship can be fun. Really fun. *playfully waggles eyebrows*

Now, Bree and Zack Archer have great, sizzling chemistry, which explodes and sucks them both in unexpectedly. I really like how it gets explained that they're in a relationship when things turn real. I was busting up.

...It was just Bree and me, and it was becoming a struggle for me not to go into the bedroom, push her onto the bed, and do things to drive her wild.
-- Zack Archer

I love them together. There are a lot of mixed signals, sweet gestures, and goooood times!

I listened to the audio book and read along. The narrators are Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet, both of whom I've listened to and enjoyed before. This time was no exception!

I’ll be honest, I definitely hyped this book up a lot more in my head because of all the glowing reviews it had, but alas, it felt a bit short. This is exactly why I try (keyword: try) to not have any expectations before I start reading a book, though I fail at that most of the time. The curious side of me wins out more often than not. But yeah, so much for this being the stellar book I was hoping it would be.

Don’t get me wrong, I did like it enough and I did mostly enjoy it (despite it being a rather short read), but I had a few issues with it. One being that these people are actually in their 30s (or 29 for Bree but same thing), and they’re acting and talking as if they’re in their early 20s. I mean I’ve got nothing against characters being in their 30s or even 20s for that matter, it’s just that whenever I read about my characters, I’d rather they talk and act accordingly, if you get my drift. But that’s mostly a personal issue, so whatever. Another issue of mine was that Bree annoyed me a lot for the most part. The only time I wasn’t annoyed with her and actually started liking her was towards the end, around 70-80% through. And by then, it was too little too late lol. I also would’ve liked a more HEA instead of a HFN ending (which is what this book has), but that’s also a personal thing.

One lovely thing about this though, was that it was really freaking hot (the sex scenes, I mean lol). But other than the sizzling hot scenes these two have, it fell short. Oh well, I am interested enough about Tessa (Zack’s sister and one of Bree’s BFFs) to read her book which is next in this series, so there’s that.

This was a good read. Bree needs a date to her cousins wedding. Her mother is obsessed with her getting married some day. She ask Zack who is her friends brother. He also happens to be a manwhore. He does come to fall for her and she for him. Of course she has second thoughts but it all works out for them.

Did I read this book in one night? Yup. It was a great, quick read that got me out of my book slump! It's a great take on the wedding date story line BUT with the added twist of best friends brother trope. Zack is believable as a player and Bree's hesitancy towards men is completely understandable. I loved the relationship between Bree and her mother because it could have been so easy to just paint the mom as a villain, rather than giving us insight to her (the mom's) perspective and motivations. Overall, good story with just enough spice to keep things interesting.

Couldn’t get through even get to 20% and this is a short book so that’s not very far. I was ready to stop at 5% after the first conversation the FMC has with her mom 🙄

“Why did you break up with Rick again?”

Really? “He cheated on me.”

“Honey, men stray. It’s not a reason to let go of a good man.”

I clenched my fists and bared my teeth. “Mom, it might have been fine for you, but it’s not for me. I deserve better.”

“Don’t say that about your father—may he rest in peace.”

He had been an okay dad, but he had been a shitty husband, and I had no plans to take back my words.

“Is there something else I can help you with?” I asked. I was about done with this conversation.

“What, I need a reason to speak to my daughter?”

Here comes the guilt trip.

“No, but I really do need to finish getting ready for work.”

“If you had a husband, you wouldn’t have to work.”

I groaned. Never mind that I wanted to work, husband or no husband.

“Maybe you’ll meet someone at the wedding.”

My ears were ringing now. So, now, I was going to spend next weekend hearing about why I was single while she tried to set me up with every single guy from eighteen to sixty.

I couldn’t handle it.

“I already met someone,” I blurted out as my conversation with my friends from the night before ran through my head.

My mother gasped. “You did? Why didn’t you say so?”

Because it’s a lie. “Because it’s new.”

“Oh, I’m so happy. I can’t wait to tell everyone.”

Hey Ladies... (& Gents). Let's talk. So you know how you have that one person who is always wondering when you're going to get married? Yup, you know exactly who I'm talking about. Well, that happens to be Bree's mom in this lovely contemporary romance that was so beautifully written by RL Kenderson.

Bree is trying to dodge her mother's incessant marriage questions for as long as she possibly can. Zack, well, his a man whore and not looking to be tied down to anything serious. At least he thinks. So a well concocted charade should be enough to keep Diana off Bree's back right? But is that charade enough to keep Zack out of Bree's pants?

He only has one rule ladies and that's for Bree to stay on her side of the bed... Or else! All bets are off and who know where that could lead to? An awesome weekend away that is filled with fun boozy games and a painful sun tan is where is leads to. But with a cherry on top if you dare to read this book.

Try as I might, but I am here to call dibs. I have a thing for gorgeous tattooed men. So here I am, claiming another glorious Book Boyfriend.

Bree has sworn off men, unfortunately, her mother isn't on board with that idea. In a desperate attempt to keep her mom off her back about getting married, she invites her best friend's brother Zach to her cousin's wedding. He may be a manwhore, but he's handsome and charming, and Bree knows she isn't going to fall for him. Right? Zach is perfectly aware of his reputation, it's never bothered him before, but after the wedding he he finds himself wanting to spend as much time with Bree as possible, now he just has to convince the girl he's falling for that he isn't the cheating kind.
Wonderfully realistic, well written and compelling characters in a sweet and sexy happily ever after romance.

RL Kenderson is a new author to me, so I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but after reading the blurb, I was intrigued and excited to dive in.

This book was a great read! It was fun, steamy and easy to lose yourself in! It was only meant to be a fake relationship over the course of four days but both Bree and Zack did not expect them to have such an attraction for each other and such strong chemistry together. It was only a matter of time before things got hot and heavy and holy hell did they get hot! Once the four days are up life goes back to normal. Will Zack and Bree be together? Or will Zack still be living his manwhore ways? Or is the connection, passion and heat between these two strong enough to make him want to change and find a happily ever after with Bree?

I really enjoyed this book! It was very entertaining and very steamy! Highly recommend!

5 STARS!

This book was so good. Bree needs a date to a family wedding, but doesn’t want to risk someone wanting more. She’s done with men and relationships. Who better to be a fake boyfriend than a man that doesn’t do relationships. But neither knew the sparks that would ignite between them.
I just loved the characters in this book. Bree has been hurt in the past and has given up on love. Zack doesn’t do more than one night stands. But when the two of them come together, they are perfect for each other. Even pretending, Zach stood up for Bree against her family. I’ve never read anything by this author before, but I’ll definitely be reading more. Definitely recommend, it was a super fast read. Reading it in a day.

Not just another fake wedding date story!
We all know how the 'fake date' trope goes and ends but there's something extra to this one. Something even more fun, extra saucy, extra naughty ... I just can't explain it except to say it's a great time and a great read! Perfect summer fun!!
This has to be on your summer beach read list!!

Sacha's Book Reviews Blog

I chose this book from an ARC program because I enjoyed two other books by this author duo — "My Favourite Mistake" and "My Cover Model"

The Premise
Bree has had her heart broken after multiple men cheated on her, so she’s now sworn off men, along with her longtime friends from high school. When an upcoming family wedding puts pressure on her to be coupled up, she decides to invite the brother of her friend Tessa, Zack. Zack’s reputation precedes him — he has a different woman almost daily, and no interest in long-term labels. But will Bree change his mind — and does she even want that herself?

The Pros
This was a fast-paced read with a good dollop of raunch and great dialogue. It goes straight to the action, and each character gets a fair balance of “reading” time (a problem I had with my first book by this author duo) so I was pleased at that. The storyline is simple and predictable but executed well enough to hold my interest throughout, and the sexy parts are sudden and scintillating. I also liked the tense mother/daughter relationship, and the snippets of other characters we are bound to see in other books of the series.

The Cons
Though I liked this book, there didn’t seem to be any conflict. It was predictable and there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of depth to either character — one minute they are friends, the next sex is on the table, and the next there is a flash of doubt, and it is resolved so quickly that I was surprised the book was over. I was just getting into the story by that time, and was hoping for some kind of twist or angst or… well, something.

Conclusion
This is my third book by this author duo, and while I’m enjoying their work, I keep wanting more *oomph*. The first book I read blew me away and felt so much deeper and more interesting than the two that followed, and I keep seeking that high I got from the first one! I would be willing to try a few more times though, because the writing skill is definitely there in terms of dialogue and creating characters — I just wish that more *oomph* was added somehow. I would still recommend this one to other readers though, because it fills that genre of swift smut quite well. I just need a bit more to blow my socks off, but that may just be me!

This was an easy and fast read. I thought it was cute. I liked the characters and who doesn’t like fake dating? I just felt like it needed a little more. I actually liked that there wasn’t much of a conflict. It entertained me enough to want to read Tessa’s book.

I do have one complaint when it comes to this type of character. I never understand how everyone can go on and on about how a man sleeps around so much that it’s surprising that his junk hasn’t fallen off, yet the heroine is okay to not use a condom when they first have sex. Huh? Then the response is always “I’m on the pill”, okay, last time I checked the pill doesn’t protect you from STDs. That never makes sense to me. I mean his sister said he would sleep with one woman on a Friday and a different one on Saturday. This has happened in multiple books I’ve read with a manwhore MMC and it always boggles the mind.

Anyways, I’m glad that once Zack hooked up with Bree that she was it for him. They were cute and I liked their HFN.

Simple, but great romance, with hot parts
It's a good romance with great characters. The story is a bit predictable with the fake boyfriend side, but the it's sometimes funny, always tender, hot, and I quickly empathized with the characters of Bree and Zack.

This will be a TWO part review, one for the audible part and then the book/story part.

Audible Rating: 5 Stars
Book Rating: 4 Stars
Spice: 4 Chili peppers

What to expect:
Stand alone
Spicy Rom Com
Fake Relationship
Forced Prox
Best Friends Brother

For the audible: Honestly, I haven't listened to many. A few in the past didn't hold my attention enough to focus on the story so I missed half the book. But the pair for this audible did a fantastic job. I wanted to listen and was able to stay with the entire story. Samantha Brentmoor & Robert Hatchet really brought this book to life for me. I think this is truthfully the first audible at I have ever enjoyed and manage to maintain listening all the way through. Fantastic job! If you're someone like me, I always look for time. The book is around 260 pages and the audiobook is around 4.5 hrs. I cut that down slightly because I speed it up a smidge.

For the book: I was honestly very surprised by this book. And found myself quickly invested in these characters. Bree and her friends start the book with swearing off men in their twist of the He-Man Woman Hater's club. The fact that reference was used made my heart happy. But as easily as saying she has no intentions to date is, Bree has to attend her cousins wedding and knows that her mother will make a mess of her love life if she doesn't bring a date. Her friend suggest bringing a fate date, but Bree doesn't feel that is a smart move. Until her mother won't stop pushing. Bree can only think of the last man she came in contact with, Zach. Who happens to be Tess, her best friend's, brother. And without thinking mentions the two of them are dating. Even though she barely knows anything about the guy, other than he's hot. With Tess's help she tracks down Zach to hopefully convince him to be her fake date to the wedding.

Zach doesn't make it easy, but agrees to help her out. It's an out of town wedding and they will be sharing a room, or so they thought. We they get there, they find out that are not just sharing a room, but also a bed, and a cabin with Bree's mother. The banter between these too help make this book. It was comical. The author does a fantastic job making the characters come to life and making them have depth and personality. I found myself rooting for the characters and emotionally invested in the feeling being discovered when the weekend ended. I wanted to know how it played out and kept wanting to turn the page.

And the spice! Because of the way this relationship is built, I felt it made the urgency heightened and the overall chemistry between them. It just made it better. The author took care to really make it more than just a rushed situation just to include a spicy scene. Very well done.

Overall, it was a great book and a great audible experience. I would highly recommend them both!

R.L.Kenderson is a new author to me and I was given the opportunity to listen to this book in Audiobook, and I absolutely LOVED it.!!
Bree is newly single after her Ex cheats on her and she is basically fed up with ALL men she even creates A Man Haters Club with her friends...But her cousins wedding is approaching and her Mother is relentless about her having a boyfriend and getting married.
What would get her Mum off her back ?!... Taking a FAKE BOYFRIEND !! to the wedding..which is a 4 day trip. The only man who she can think about to ask is Zack Archer her friends brother who has a reputation as a Manwhore....And happens to be as sexy as all hell!
Zack does not do relationships he is happy to casually hook up with random ladies and have no commitment.
But when Zack is approached by his sisters friend Bree to be her fake Boyfriend at a wedding,he thinks why Not...Its not like he will fall for her,it will be a bit of fun.
Bree and Zack are taken by surprise by how much chemistry they have and the attraction they feel for one another and the 4 day wedding goes so well.It is only a matter of time before they cross the line and yes they do and they are explosive...But with Zack's Manwhoring reputation could the good thing they find be destroyed before it even can get started !!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story,Narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchett.
I have listened to Samantha Brentmoor before and have always loved her voice..Her male voice is delicious..lol..
Robert Hatchett is new to me this is my first time hearing his voice and he totally impressed me.
I loved his voice and will definately be listening to more of his gorgeous baritone.
Together these two told this story perfectly.
This book was a delight and a pleasure to listen to,it was light with minimum angst and quite refreshing.

Not Another Manwhore is a fake date & best friend's brother contemporary romance featuring Bree and Zack. Bree's mother is perpetually on her case about getting married. Bree isn't against marriage, but she's had a string of terrible relationships and is off the market... maybe permanently. With her cousin's wedding around the corner, Bree knows she either needs to have someone by her side, or be prepared to deal with the many comments that are sure to come.

Having seen her best friend's brother the other night, his name is the first to come to mind and she tells her mother that she just started seeing Zack. Her mother is thrilled. Now, of course, Bree needs to convince him to join her on this weekend wedding and pretend to be the doting boyfriend in front of her whole family.

Zack isn't interested in commitment; he's a player. He enjoys the physical aspect of being with someone, but isn't interested in a relationship. But he is bored of having the same weekend plans week after week after week. For some reason though Bree intrigues him, and being his sister's best friend, he agrees to be her fake boyfriend.

Of course, the two ending spending a lot of time together, in close proximity, and we all know what happens....

I listened to the audiobook for Not Another Manwhore, narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet. I feel like having this as an audiobook made a huge difference. The story is cute but the voice actors really raised it to the next level. Brentmoor was able to insert a flirty inflection in some of the dialogue which was funny and sweet.

Overall I had fun listening to this short (~5 hours) audiobook. It was easy to pop on my headset and listen to Bree & Zack's story.

This book is the first in the Not Another Romance series.

If fake dating a supposed manwhore at a four-day family wedding sounds like chaos, buckle up—because this book serves it with a side of heat, hilarity, and hella good vibes.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: the first couple of chapters? A little messy. Too many friends, a chaotic setup, and some clunky pacing had me wondering if this was going to be one of those rom-coms that tries too hard. But once we hit the resort? Oh honey, it clicks. Suddenly we’re knee-deep in forced proximity, one bed, meddling moms, suspicious cousins, and a whole lot of sexual tension—and I was eating it up like wedding cake.

Zack is the MVP. Cocky but not annoying, flirty but sweet, reads her emotions like a pro and fetches dresses without asking for credit. Husband material wrapped in a casual hookup label.

Bree? It took longer for me to connect. Yes, she initiates their first night together (queen move), but for most of the book, she lets her mom walk all over her. When someone publicly insults you and you say nothing? Girl. Where’s your fire? I kept waiting for her to find her backbone and throw a little heat. She got there eventually, but I needed it earlier to really root for her.

It’s spicy, it’s funny, it has some genuine “aww” moments, and while it’s not breaking new ground, it knows exactly what kind of rom-com comfort it wants to be—and nails it. The banter works, the chemistry sizzles, and that Frisbee scene? I giggled like a gremlin.

So yeah. This isn’t just another manwhore romance. It’s a full-on vacation for your romance-loving soul.

Snap, Crackle, and Pop when they least expect it.....So now what do they do?

Not Another Manwhore is the first book in the Not Another Romance series. I enjoyed this nicely written book which has a solid story-line and well defined characters. Bree has sworn off anything that is a male after having several ex's cheat on her. I mean why can't you find just one man who can keep a commitment! But when a family wedding looms and with no man in her life Bree has to come up with a date quickly. Not wanting a commitment of any type Bree decides to ask Zack to be her date, fake that is. Zack is actually the older brother of one of her best friends, Tessa. There is no fear that anything will happen with Zack as he has a reputation that precedes him where women are concerned, can anyone say "manwh0re"! Zack likes his life with no relationships or commitments to tie him down. He agrees to accompany Bree to the wedding and have a fun night being her fake boyfriend. What neither of them anticipates was that old "snap, crackle, and pop" chemistry sparking between them. Now what happens as both of them don't want a relationship.....well of course they end up in a relationship.
This is an easy to read and entertaining story. The characters are nicely defined and there is a good spark that flows between them. I am looking forward to reading the next in this series.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Not Another Manwhore
By: R.L. Kenderson
Narrated by: Samantha Brentmoor, Robert Hatchet

What are you doing this weekend? Well grab your headphones and download this gem! Perfect for listening when riding to the store or cleaning up the house, it's sure to warm your heart and make you smile. Bree is tired of her mother's constant nagging to get married. Independent and dealing with the hurt from her last relationship, marriage is the last thing on her mind. With her cousin's upcoming wedding though, she heads her mother off at the pass and takes her best friend Tess's brother Zack. His reputation proceeds him, the manwhore who loves to bed women every weekend. The goal is to keep her mother off her back. Will it work though? I love this story. RL Kenderson keeps my mouth smiling and my heart warm with this one. Each scene is packed with feelings, and I love how the story takes a few twists and turns. It's the perfect mix of family and love. Bring on book two, I am ready!

Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet bring this nugget to life! I love this team, and find their chemistry makes the couples that much more believable. Brentmoor keeps Bree real, a little on edge, a little attracted but guarded until she's not. The nuances in her voice make Bree convincing. Hatchet has the best voice. Smooth as silk, he gives Zack that pull that makes it impossible not to fall in love with him. I loved their performance and enjoyed every second!

Meet Bree and Zack in this book. So here we have best friend's brother romance. However this has plenty of funny moments. So Bree has sworn off men because well they have not given her any reason to trust them. So she just recently got out of a relationship because her ex just was not a smart man. Now her cousins wedding is coming up and her mom is wondering if she is bringing anyone. Better yet her mom wants her to get back with her ex. Like WTH. Yeah that was mind blowing but you will understand her mom more in the book. So what does she do. She lies to her mom. Then we have Zack whose sister says he is a manwhore. Always with a different woman and everyone knows that. He is not ready to settle down and is still having fun. However when he runs into his sister and her friends, he does not fail to notice Bree. Well she is in a predicament and needs his help. Will he help her out? He doesn't think nothing of it. He figures he needs a break from his escapades anyways. What's the harm. Right. She knows how he is but she can't help but secretly fall for him. She has to keep her fake relationship a secret til the wedding is over. Can they keep this ruse til the end? Will anything evolve from what this? Check it out to see. I loved this story. KL Kenderson is becoming a go to author for laughs and swooning romance.

Not Another Manwhore is the first book in the Not Another Romance series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Bree’s mother is persistent in pushing her to get married. So, when her cousin’s wedding approaches, Bree does the only “sensible” thing – bring a fake date. She ends up asking her best friend’s brother, Zack, who everyone knows is a manwhore, to be her fake date. He agrees to help her out.

The chemistry between Bree and Zack was undeniable, especially when they found out they would be sharing a bed…because her mom was in the other room. Zack doesn’t want to be in a relationship, and neither does Bree after her previous two boyfriends had cheated on her. But when they spend so much time together, and they get to know each other better, they end up falling for each other. And Zack really made the wedding fun and bearable for Bree; he was so sweet and very charming.

This book had so many hilarious moments, and there were sweet, spicy, and swoony moments as well. This was my first book by R.L Kenderson, but it will not be the last!

Something about this book hit the perfect notes for me, there was something that rings so true and speaks to my soul. After a long day at work there is nothing better than getting lost in a book and that is exactly what happened when I started reading Not Another Manwhore.

Finding Bree and Zack was exactly what I needed actually finding the she-woman man-haters club was a breath of fresh air and watching and being able to experience how you move past what has hurt you and shaped you and move into what you want your future to look like is an unbelievable experience.

What I loved about this story was the simple fact that the two lead characters accepted each other exactly as they appeared to one another granted that when they took the time they both realised there was more than meets eye lying just below the surface. 😉 But they never made the other person be anything or anyone other than who they truly are, they simply supported the growth and development of the other person.

The spice comes along naturally and at the exact right time in this story. There was nothing forced and nothing felt rushed, everything happened exactly when it should and exactly as it needed to.

This world and these characters were so engaging and enthralling that hooks you from the first moment. This story opens itself up to expanding the universe in future books.

Reputation redemption through a not so fake relationship
Not Another Manwhore (Not Another Romance Series Book 1) by R. L. Kenderson is a fake relationship turn for real romance. Zack and Bree are acquaintances at best, but Bree asks a huge favor regardless. Turns out, Zack has great potential and the fake relationship is perfect timing.
The plot; Bree swearing off men forever and Zack maintaining his freedom comes to a grinding halt all because of a favor. Throughout the book, these two get to know one another and have fun despite the slightly awkward family gatherings. As this trope generally goes, the ones involved in the fake relationship actually start to like one another and it was really enjoyable and entertaining the way Zack and Bree figure this out. Genuine friendship and feelings save the day and wreak havoc upon the end of the fake relationship weekend.
Overall, Zack and Bree are wonderful characters that work very well together in every way. Plenty of steam (Zack is a charmer and knows his way around his woman) as well as romance leading this couple to seek something real. Finally a HEA for Bree with the perfect man just for her.
I read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.

This book was the first one by these authors that I have read, and I will definitely put some more of their contemporaries on my reading list from now on. Not Another Manwhore starts a series about a group of friends who have sworn off bad dates. Bree needs a fake date for a wedding because her mother is giving her a lot of grief about being single. Her friend's brother Zack sleeps around a lot but that doesn't matter if it's just a fake date situation. The wedding involves spending four days in a cabin and as one thing leads to another, they become intimate and great sex paves the way to a relationship. It turns out Zack is quite nice and even a guy like him can see more action in a relationship than as a single player.

This is funny and sexy and a nice light low-angst read. I finished it in a day and enjoyed it a lot. It is very well edited and I am looking forward to more from these authors. It's written in first person POV and we get both Bree and Zack's sides.

I got free review copy and this is a voluntary review.
