It was supposed to be about networking. It wasn’t supposed to change my life.
Running my own massage business can be hard, so when a tech company offered me a good day’s pay and a chance to get new clients, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
But I wasn’t prepared for Ian.
I loved being single, and he totally wasn’t my type. So, when he asked me out, I only said yes to be nice. I may have felt sorry for him—at least that’s what I told myself—and I figured there was no way an IT nerd could handle a heartbreaker like me.
Only he handled me well. A little too well. And now the person I feel sorry for is myself. Because I was the one falling for him, and it looks like my heart might be the one that gets broken.
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. They met in college and bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. They write spicy romance that often makes you laugh.
I can't say that I really liked Ian's story... I don't even remember the name of the other main character... many moments in the book had me rolling my eyes... At least, it was a short story.
I wish I hadn't read this. It's short sure, but still managed to make Ian a presumptuous asshole robot. And Sydney a trembling girl with self worth issues.
One of the first things Ian says to Sydney is about how she doesn't need to be strong around him. Oh and he knows he's not her type. Never had a convo with this woman but he knows. I was waiting for the next thing he said to be how she should smile more. Seriously. Dude can go f*ck himself.
Sydney is written insecure and promiscuous. First part is annoying. Don't care about the second part, except that it seems to come from the first part. And that sucks.
When he asks her out she goes on a full blown rant about how SHE knows she isn't his type because she thinks he wants someone smart, stable, and low maintenance and she isn't any of those things. Followed by some stupid weepy story about a car accident she was in. And OMG SHE NEVER TELLS ANYONE THAT SO HE MUST BE SPECIAL.
Is death from eye rolling a possibility? Bc whew buddy was I in danger.
Together on a date, she feels like he isn't interested. Because he can't hold a conversation and doesn't respond/pick up on flirting. (ROBOT) But then he tells the waitress he needs coffee because he's going to need energy later.
So. She's over there thinking no second date. Goes to the bathroom comes out to tell him that. But he's like who's house are we gonna fuck at, and she swoons and says his.
What. WHAT.
Cut to his house, he wants to have sex without protection. Sydney is in trembling/swooning in his presence mode, so she's fine with it.
He tells her to stare into his eyes. And when to come. Full blown "he knows my body better than I do. Not a virgin but feel/act like one"
At this point I fear my stink face is going to become permanent.
Then he tells her he's going to marry her mid thrust.
NOW she has a problem?
She leaves in the morning and ghosts him. So he shows up at her work. HEA.
Barf.
There were also syntax/grammatical errors that were obvious, but not as annoying as Robot and Trembles were.
I loved this instalove romance between Harper, a professional masseuse and Ian, an IT nerd. Ian was a perfect gentleman and a total alpha in the bedroom. Harper is a free spirit and a very sexy confident woman, opposites in a lot of ways. This quick romance felt well rounded and leads into the next story revolving around Harper's friend but it is a complete standalone book. I did pick up several grammatical errors which did not detract from the story. This book was fun and sexy and I rate it 4.5*.
It was a light book but, with interesting characters. She is giving short massages for a computer company’s employees and meets Ian who is a computer nerd! She thinks it’s interesting that she’s drawn to him as she usually gravitates to the “bad boys”! If you are at the point of only needing something light this is your book!
My Computer Nerd, prequel to the A Love Like series by R.L.Kenderson. This is a great little prequel to to My Cover Model. Loved it! Already read My Cover Model it was fantastic! One of my favorites!
This right here is my fantasy man!! I love a soft kind nerdy type of guy in public but more alpha in the bedroom. I found Ian to be a wonderful character.
I just wish it was a little longer, I think there was still a lot to be explored.
Super quick read at only 60 pages. I am a great fan of this author as they write a great Alpha MMC. I know this is a novella but I could have done with just a bit more bulk to the story. It felt to fast to the end. But the story was quick and cute and spicy.
Another “teaser”, but really not enough for me to be head over heels. If I see a full novel available I’ll try it out, but not chompin’ at the bit for the next one.
It was good but far to short. I felt the character were to awkward and needed more time to develop. I thought the premise was good and that it would.have been a great full length read.
I found this book on Amazon after reading book #3 for Hidden Gems; this is my honest review. -Fast insta-lust insta-love short story. -Not sure how it went from "I'm gonna marry you" "No way" "We're married". -The beginning and the epilogue makes it worth reading but if I had read this one before #3, I would not have been interested in the series. -Editing needs another pass: felanng vs. feeling. How vivid my dreams about him were about him ...
