My jerk of a boss is getting married today.
Imagine my surprise when I found out that the bride-to-be is me.
Graham Locke is cocky, condescending, and looks sinfully sexy wrapped in a thousand dollar suit.
He’s also a nightmare to work for.
When he sends me a text message asking me to meet him because he’s getting married, I laugh out loud.
Who would marry him?
It turns out I do. I literally marry my boss.
It’s not for love. I can’t say it’s entirely for money, but that does factor into my decision to become Mrs. Locke for ninety days.
Three months will fly by, right?
Wrong.
Within twenty four hours, I’m counting the seconds until I can go back to being Trina Shaw.
I persevere because I’m not one to give up even though I seriously consider it.
It doesn’t take long before I discover that my husband isn’t the man I thought he was.
The secrets he keeps hidden close to his heart may end up breaking mine.

Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.

She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

This is perfect if you love steamy FTB scenes

Listen. I get it. Not all books will be graphic. But when I see a review saying there’s too much EXPLICIT smexx, I am going to have HIGH expectations and I’m gonna be waiting for these scenes to come up! (Not me waiting on pins and needles for these scenes 👀)That’s why that person lowered the star rating on this book… but I kept reading and reading and TRYING to find all this explicit smexx 🤔🤔🤔 and… IT NEVER CAME! (Hahahaha PUN INTENDED😑!!). We got ONE solid smexx scene and one 0r@l one… then that’s it!

If a scene is getting started and it’s all the dirty talk imaginable 👀 and then it’s getting good 😅and I’m ALL excited 😉(just like the MCs) and the scene changes and the next page is a new chapter or it’s after the fact … then THAT IS NOT EXPLICIT🤬!!!! That is what is well-known as FTB. Oh dear LAWD. Hold the wheel PLEASE!! People be lying to me 😅😂. This is a damnnnn sin! I know it’s hypocritical of me to say this on the Lord’s day, but my gosh. Don’t lie to me people 😂😂😂.

Let me get to my review. Trina (20s) is the assistant of Graham (29), who’s a grump, which makes this a grumpy/sunshine book. He leaves and then texts her to meet him at the courthouse because he’s getting married. She arrives, and she asks him where his bride is. He tells her “you’re her” and she says “Urher?” And asks about pronunciation 😂😂😂I was totally giggling. He needs her to marry him because his pseudo-father, who is also the owner of the company they work for, is very ill and he wants to make him happy by showing him that he married Trina. Because Trina has a lot of love for that man (Lloyd), she agrees.

Of course, as the book progresses, they develop feelings for each other. She feels horrible because she doesn’t tell anyone in her family, considering that she has 12 siblings and both her parents, and feels like she’s lying left and right. He doesn’t deny that they’re married, and when Lloyd comes to visit, they have to continue this farce in his home.

All is good, all seems well, and the tension and chemistry starts igniting🔥. We get one solid, good smexxy scene. ONE from beginning to end.

I am LITERALLY laying here, popcorn in hand, anxiously flipping pages, seeing all this DIRTY talk🥵, all these promises 👀about doing this and that💦. Alll DUUUUURTY😅. *picture me rubbing my hands* AND then…

😐WOMP 😐WOMP.

My lady b0n€r has never deflated so fast. I kept going. Kept reading. Thinking “okay maybe it’s just this one…”

Nope. It kept happening. Until the end of the book😑.

Even when they are in the middle of pivotal scenes. The “I love you” scenes. The “make love to me” scenes. The “I’ll let you 0 down my throat” scenes (okay maybe that’s not PIVOTAL, but at THIS point, I’m just grasping at ANYTHING!!!). All of them. ALL OF THEM have a FTB ending!!!! (Well, at least something was ending somewhere, because the poor MCs didn’t get those explosive endings we look for 🙄).

I am so frustrated!!! And it sucks because this book has so many good elements. The foster group childhood, the dark past, the tension buildup, the death of loved ones in the past, the emotional hospital scare… but… the FTB MESSED it up for me!!!

Ugh. 🤬

⚠️safety squad⚠️
FTBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB 😑
-no cheating/sharing/owd
-h has a bf when book open up- they break up
-om at the bar flirts with h while H is sitting right now (they’re fake married already). Nothing happens
-there’s another om scene but it’s the h’s friend’s hubby. The H gets super jp
-death of loved ones remembered
-condom the first times. Since the rest of the time it was FTB, I’m ASSuming they were also used. But who tf knows 🙄 lol

Tis the season for Wendy to indulge in all the fakery she loves! Yes, it seems over this year, I have developed a liking for fake relationships, fake engagements, and fake marriages of convenience.
This particular story had all the trappings of doing the deed for a good reason mixed with the fun of boss/employee.

Leave to Deborah Bladon to ring the bell perfectly. She gave us a setup for more books with conflicts, she gave us men to drool over, a woman who is playing things close to her vest, and a reason to let all of this happen that will touch the heart.

Looking forward to more.

2.5⭐️

This book used marriage of convenience trope, it tells a story of a handsome successful CEO (at 29) who “ordered” his assistant (early 20s) to marry him to make an old man, who was like a father figure to him, happy because said old man wanted to see him settled down before he died. Or at least that’s what H believed.
It’s an unoriginal plot which had been done countless time by various authors. Same old, nothing new.

For me, the only spotlight in this is heroine. She’s not a shy nun who has zero experience and blushes whenever H looks her way. She’s really cool in fact, when H “ordered” her to marry him, she straight out tells him NO because she said and I quote “I don’t like you”.💀
She even told H in his face that he isn’t her type when he was being cocky to her.

I don’t like H much, he’s a cocky manwhore who thinks he can get any women he wants. But I don’t hate him either, he was OK I guess. At least he honored their marriage and didn’t cheat.

Safety-gang :
No virgins were found.
H was a manwhore but h was also experienced so it didn’t bother me.
Totally safe from OM/OW drama. H jealous of OM talking to h in a bar they went to. Twice.
No cheating.
Mild drama : the old man learned the truth about their fake marriage but it was quick solved.
End on a HFN (they stayed married and talked about having kids in future).

Bull explores the grumpy/sunshine, boss-employee, and marriage of convenience tropes. Graham and Trina are polar opposites–he’s the grumpy, and she’s the sunshine, he’s a workaholic and she has a rich social life, he’s an orphan and she has a huge, loving family (she has twelve brothers and sisters. TWELVE!). They work at a designer watch company. The founder, Lloyd, is like a father to Graham, and Graham tells him a little white lie–that he’s married to his assistant, whom Lloyd absolutely adores. That's fine when Lloyd is living in Paris, but now that he’s back in town and he’s been diagnosed with heart disease and only has months to live? Trina agrees to temporarily marry Graham, planning for their divorce in a few months, in order to appease a dying man. This book has some humorous moments, and some heartfelt ones. I loved how gradually Graham and Trina fell for each other. This is a sweet book with just an itty bit of angst to keep me riveted right to the end!

I devoured this book yesterday afternoon.
In one sitting.
That's how good it is.

I'll be very quick today and I'll just tell you that if you love a marriage of convenience trope, love a good old slow burn, want your heroine to not only have a backbone but also a brain, then you should definitely read it.

Oh, let's not forget about the hero. He was a cold bastard at first but he does a one-eighty over time, grows as a character and falls hard for the heroine.
And I fell hard for both of them.

Plus, the chemistry level was off the charts and I literally couldn't unglue myself from this book.

I absolutely loved it!
That's gonna be one of my best comfort reads ever, and so this baby lands on my 'favourite' shelf because I'm sure as hell I'll reread it soon.

Also, I know there's a story for Kavan Bane coming out soon. And that lightens up my day!
Because I loved that bastard and I need to read his story asap!

Highly recommend!!

So utterly refreshing

I LOVE.ME SOME.FAKE MARRIAGE.

This fell perfectly into my life at a moment I needed it!!!

The 2 mc.are.very.likable. There's dual pov.which I love thank god...

Low angst, more of a telling of the past,.then taking place in the present

It's slow burn but lots of chemistry...but once the YOU KNOWS WHAT gets started there no stopping it.

Side characters are interesting. Especially 1 in particular.

Definitely recommend there story.it's brilliant

Low angst and steamy

Another light and sexy romance from this author - and a very solid series starter. I love a good "fake" marriage romance, and this was a fun one. These two have great chemistry, and I loved all of the bickering/bantering between them, though the transition from boss/employee-coerced wife to saccharine sweet love was way too abrupt in this case. There were no major missteps along the way, but I can't help but feel a little dissatisfied about the sudden change in their relationship and the lack of swoons up until that point. Overall, it's a low angst, steamy romance that has me ready to read more from this series.

The story follows Trina, a woman who works for an intense and demanding boss, who she doesn't particularly like. When she receives a text telling her to come to his wedding - that day - Trina is shocked. Who would marry a guy like that? Turns out, it's her. Or at least that's what Graham believes. After finding out that his mentor is dying, Graham wants to make the man happy - by proving that he's settled and in a relationship with a good woman... even if he has to pay her to do so. It's a softer side of the man that Trina thought she knew, and she soon finds herself getting hitched. But spending time out of the office with Graham proves to be her downfall, as he's more appealing than she ever anticipated.

So I'm sure you're wondering - what's a Buck Boy? I went into this one blind and I'll admit that I was anticipating something to do with bulls or cowboys or a western theme. It has nothing to do with that, lol. Just in case you're wondering - the Buck Boys are a group of guys who bonded over their troubled pasts. This is a pretty standard boss/employee, marriage of convenience romance. It's a trope that works for me, and this one doesn't stray too far out of the box. The light, easy feel makes it perfect for bingeing, and there's just enough connectivity to the next standalone in the series to get you interested in more. Not my favorite from the author (and there are more typos than usual), but this makes for a solid, low angst read.

4.5 I was in the mood for a fake marriage, and this one definitely fit the bill. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Bonus points for the H being an overbearing boss who learns there's more to life than just work. Graham and Trina thought they had the perfect plan, but even the best laid plans go off the rails.

This book is straight robbery.

Who wrote that synopsis? His secrets might ruin her? Which ones? The fact that he grew up in foster care, got caught stealing at 15 and then proceeded to live a cushy life in private school and go on to run this huge company and be a billionaire?

I stayed for the secrets. ROBBED.

Also their sex gave me the ick. He kept apologizing for being too rough etc. because he couldn’t control himself due to how tight and hot she was. Ew.

35% did not finish, Ohmygawd who wrote the reviews below. One person said this book had too much smex for her! I stopped at 22 chapters in .. still no smex boring Ohmygawd so boring story moves like a glacier during the ice age! Snails move faster! It could have been good. Apparently 50+ chapters long I just couldn’t take another chapter. So boring!
Woman hates her hot boss Graham. Boss is a jerk, 8 chapters of talking about what a jerk and how hot he is and how happy she is to be single. Blah blah! Then graham’s beloved boss lyodd, has been bugging him to get in a relationship and goes on and on about how wonderful his assistant is… so he lies and tells him they are dating but never tells the assistant. And after months or a year or so and Grahmm’s boss keeps riding him about settling down w/ assistant, so Graham piles on the lies that they are married so when he comes to town on his last several months to visit the happy couple he feels he brought together…. Graahm emotionaly blackmails her into marrying him. For 3 months lyodd will either go back to Paris or be dead so they can get divorced. Ohmygawd I’m even bored writing this review. So I’m done. take w/ grain of salt. 35%no SMEX not even a hint of it. No real angst… no heat no fun! This was written by either a teen, or a very very very conservative woman. Who wouldn’t know what a smex-gasm is.

The book was really good. I enjoyed the romance and the heat moments between Trina and Graham.
I always liked love after marriage trope and I was happy this book fit right into it.
H had his jealousy moments which I always liked in books for the romance to build up and this book had it, so yeah, I liked this one.

Not much to say, it was the same book I've read too many times but only with different characters and names although I always love them.
No OW and no OM drama, it was the first thing that made me give it a five star, because nowadays no romance book is written without including some OW/OM drama.

Hot and Satisfying

Blandon wrote a scorching hot book with a lot of heart. This one made my heart jump and wiggle more than a few times, which made it a five star read. Graham Locke is a perfect book boyfriend. It was a slow build love and it was extremely satisfying to get lost in.

When reading a forced proximity and fake marriage book there is a requirement for tension, the build up is key for the friends to lovers and I just wasn’t getting that here.

Graham’s dialogue (inner as well) just gave me the ick.

Idk just wasn’t feeling the characters building relationship, the sex felt forced and not the “we’ve been holding back so long this can’t wait another minute” that most have come to love with this genre.

This was an easy read. I read it in a day.

Grahams boss is old and sick and he wants him settle down. The old man told him Trina was a good fit for him so Graham lied and told him they were dating then he tells him he married her to keep the old dude happy.

When the old guy comes to visit Graham panics and asks Trina (his assistant) to meet him at the courthouse.

When Trina gets there she laughs at him when he says she is marrying him. I liked Trina she stood up for herself throughout the book. I liked when he asked why she wouldn't marry him and she said 'I don't like you' anyway she knows the old dude and feels bad when she finds out he is dying and that his last wish is for Graham to be happy so she marry's him. Then the old guy says he doesn't want to stay in a hotel he wants to stay with them so Trina has to move in with Graham which she is not happy about.

Graham was a bit of a dick at first. Hes jealous when another guy shows her attention and that she reciprocates but he is the one who told her it was only for 3 months and that they would never be together really. He finally realises maybe he likes her and he gets her off in his library. He takes a call and leaves right after and Trina is humiliated.

What i liked about this part was that she stood her ground. Normally the H does something dickish and the next chapter the h is back in his bed but not Trina. She told him he would never touch her again and to be fair to him he did feel bad. He left because he felt overwhelmed.

They do eventually start been intimate and he wants her for real at 60% in but she is still thinking about the end date. She does open up to him more after they have had sex but shes still not all in.

The sex scenes were a bit odd. They were so short and i was expecting more considering he kept saying how hard he was all the time after there first kiss.

He tells a friend that what he did in the past is the reason they cant stay together because she wouldn't understand. Honestly you would think he murdered someone.

So the old dude find out and she takes the full blame so the old guy wont think less of Graham and he tells Trina about Grahams past which was nothing. He tells Trina to leave then has some type of medical thing with his heart and he is taken to the hospital.

She turns up and her and Graham have a chat while the old guy sleeps. They declare their love for each other which old guy hears and forgives them both. Turns out old guy isn't dying he just needs an operation. He gets it and they get married for real.

I liked this honestly. Very little angst and written well enough. I had read a pretty heavy book before this full of angst so this was refreshing.
