Long John Silver närmar sig slutet på sin sista resa. Efter att ha korsat Atlanten fortsätter briggen Neptunus och dess besättning av myterister sin färd uppför Amazonfloden. Djupt inne i den labyrintiska djungeln väntar målet för resan: den mytomspunna staden Guyanacapac och dess väldiga skatter. Där finns också lady Hastings make, som är den som initierat resan genom att sända hem en karta och en följeslagare, indianen Moxtechica, för att visa vägen till guldet. Men både lord Hastings och den hemlighetsfulla staden kommer att visa sig vara ytterst farliga bekantskaper.

175 books111 followersXavier Dorison est né en 1972 à Paris et passe trois années en école de commerce, où il organise le festival BD des Grandes Écoles, puis travaille chez Barclays Corp. Dès 1997, il écrit le premier tome du Troisième Testament, série co-scénarisé et dessiné par Alex Alice qui remporte un succès immédiat. Il publie ensuite deux séries aux Humanoïdes Associés : Prophet avec Matthieu Lauffray et Sanctuaire avec Christophe Bec. Il co-scénarise, avec Fabien Nury, le film Brigades du Tigre, qui sera également adapté en bande dessinée aux éditions Glénat avec Jean-Yves Delitte au dessin. Il co-scénarise, toujours avec Fabien Nury, le western fantastique W.E.S.T. mis en image par Christian Rossi. Et lance début 2007 une fresque pirate : Long John Silver. En 2008, il crée la série Les Sentinelles et participe au projet XIII Mystery, en scénarisant l'album sur La Mangouste. En 2008 également, il écrit Le Syndrome d'Abel pour son comparse Marazano, de retour au dessin. En septembre 2010, il s’associe à nouveau avec Alex Alice et commence la publication de l’antésuite du Troisième Testament, intitulée Julius, toujours chez Glénat. En mars 2012, paraît chez Dargaud le premier tome d’Asgard, série dans l’univers des vikings, dessinée par Ralph Meyer. En 2013 paraîtra chez Glénat une série coécrite avec son frère Guillaume Dorison.

Again, the artwork in this… THE ARWORK! Wow… So, SO stunning! Some pages I just have to stop and stare. No dialog, no text. It’s just full page artwork and I have to stop and stare. Mathieu Laufray who has done all the artwork is NOT kidding around!
We’ve come to the end of the journey in this. And in this one Lady Vivian Hastings really shows what she’s made off. She is keeping up with the pirates here without any issues at all. Impressive, and even more so when we’re shown that she is, indeed, pregnant. Something that ends up being quite important further down the line.
Much in this book feels like a fever dream. Maybe all of the characters are drugged? Well, I know some end up being drugged at one point. Which does NOT end well!
Silver though, wow… He was extremely brutal in the first volume, but here we see that he is going from only brutality to showing he has a bit of a heart. A pretty big heart to. Because he is the only one that figures out Vivian Hastings is pregnant. Which is a bit of a turning point for him. His protective streak goes through the roof! Even if his pirate lust for treasure still is there.
Does Vivian Hastings and Long John Silver have feelings for each other? Yes, I think they do. There’s no time for them to explore this during this insane adventure, but it is shown quite clearly during one scene… A hardened pirate and adventurer, I think Silver can see how strong Vivian is and how even stronger this adventure has made her. And he appreciates that. Not to mention her love of freedom. Which was the reason she came to him in the first place!
They could have had a crazy but good life together, I think!
Anyway, the ending was no surprise really. Long John Silver is a living legend, and he goes out as one as well. The good Doctor changes for the better as well. As does Vivian Hastings.
A bit of a bittersweet ending, but a good one. I don’t think there could have been another ending on an adventure/pirate story about Long John Silver.
Really really good comic/graphic novel this. HIGHLY recommended!

Hezká kresba a příběh je ještě o něco lepší a napínavější než předchozí díly.
Smaragdový labyrint
Posádku lodi Neptun sužuje hrozný maelström. Loď jím musí proplout, aby se dostala na další část své dlouhé cesty. Musí najít ústí řeky Amazonky.
Guyanacapac
Při bloudění smaragdovým labyrintem narazí loď na padlý strom, část posádky se ho snaží rozsekat a dva členové jdou do pralesa na lov. Sotva loď s potížemi překoná spadlý strom, narazí na mělčinu. Je snad tohle konec jejich cesty? Přiblížili se alespoň ke svému cíli? Co na ně asi čeká dál v džungli...

Kan man göra någonting nytt inom piratäventyr-genren? Är inte allting uttömd sedan Pirates of the Caribbean?
Franska duon Xavier Dorison & Mathieu Lauffray vågar att ta sig an utmaningen, och skapar en strålande spin-off på Robert Louis Stevensons ”Skattkammarön”. Fantastiska illustrationer och djupa karaktärer är det som sticker ut, och jakten på skatt blir plötsligt enbart ett sidospår i denna berättelse - som till slut manifesterar sig som en mörk fantasy saga med lovecraftianska element. Starkt!

O stupeň lepší, než předešlé album, kdy tomu prospěla hlavně změna prostředí - (nerealistické) putování džunglí a dobrodružství ve ztraceném městě Guyanacapac (trochu ve stylu Indiana Jonese). Pořád je zde kopec klišé a nelogičností (tj. všechny hlavní výtky z minulého dílu), ale v nádavku většího exotična se to lépe skryje.
Na jednu stranu si říkám, že takové pěkné malby (zejména obálky) by užily velký formát. Na druhou stranu, slabost příběhu, klišovitost a zapomenutolnost, dává za pravdu malému formátu Modré Crwe.

Člověka zabít můžete, ale legendu nezastaví nic. Pokud první kniha byla pečlivě budouvané ticho před bouří, tak tentokrát to je rovnou učiněný tajfun. Nekompromisní, vědomě brakové, postavami ambivalentní; prostě v zásadě ještě lepší první části. Ovšem tady to skutečně nehraje roli, ony stejně ty dvě knihy (o čtyřech albech) tvoří jeden ucelený a neoddělitelný příběh.
