The highly anticipated follow-up to THE FIRST, the book that opened hearts around the world to Lone Peak Ranch, a miraculous place where heroes rediscover their hope and heart. Now that Jack Moses has found his solace, it is his duty to choose THE SECOND and return the favor.

DJ Bannon: He's a former NAVY SEAL who lives off the grid, secluded from society’s prying eyes and well beyond the grasping fingers of his dark past. He’s spent years hiding from the rest of the world and now he’s reluctant to ever return. What—or whom—is he trying to escape? Will the magic of Lone Peak be enough to save him? Or will the skeletons of his dangerous past come out to consume him?

Alexis Paige: She's the hottest pop star in the world. A face for the movies and a voice for the Grammys. With sold-out tours and chart-topping hits, she seems to have it all. A life others would pay millions just to taste. Then why is she considering leaving it all behind? And how will the mystical Lone Peak play into her plans?

About the author

C.G. Cooper

C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.

One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.

Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.

Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.

His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.

Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.

Amazing book full of twists, turns, romance, adventure...this book lacks nothing. C.G. Cooper took all the crayons in his book, colored both inside and outside the lines. The main character, DJ Bannon, a Navy SEAL reminds me of Daniel Briggs, who is remarkably attuned to the mystical ways of the world. For example: "He had just fallen asleep when the otherworldly sense given to predators snapped him awake."
To my surprise, Briggs makes an appearance to assist in bringing justice against a member of the cartel.
This book has it all - even an ending, much to my chagrin. I guess I will have to be content knowing The Third and The Fourth are ready to pre-order. And more Corps. Justice is soon going to have more installments.
Wonderful page turner full of romance, mystery, terror, good works, and mayhem.

I started reading The Second on Nov1,2022! I give this story a 5 star review! C.G.Cooper did a great job writing this story! I am looking forward to reading lots more of his books! The story started with Alexis singing on stage and later meeting an ex soldier whom eventually they grew to like and
Help each other thru what happened in the book! This book is a must read because the pages keep turning and you have to keep reading to find out what happens next! I am sure you will enjoy this book!

a story with miracles and mystery

C.G. Cooper has captivated me again. I love his stories - battles and blood , bad guys and good guys, and now a love interest for two of his “guys”. This story is not a “ hearts broken and then they get together.” This book is best read after one of C. G’s. war novels. Pick any one, they are all great. Then enjoy the mystery of The Second.

Another nugget of Faith, Hope, and Love

Lone Peak Ranch is a great place to escape to in these trying times. Challenges, connections between military background folks who have deep convictions to care for each other are moving. And the blessings and peace that blossom in those they become close to fills my soul with Hope. And a drive to take God's love and light into the world. CG Cooper is my favorite author.

Looking forward

What a really good uplifting story. I read the first book just after it was released and really enjoyed it, so, before reading this one I re-read it.

As well as enjoying the first book the first time around, it meant I got the pleasure a second time. I would tell anyone who is about to read The Second, make a point of reading The First, even if you have read it before, it really sets the scene for book two.

I have read all of this authors books. I consider this one his best. The story moves fairly fast with great characters. In the first book in this series Carlos went out of his normal type of book. This books proves he did the right thing. If this book isn’t his best to date it is close. I know that the next book in the series will be out fairly soon and I will be on the waiting list to get it.

I enjoyed this one more than “The First”. I guess it was because I already knew the characters or had more background on Lone Peak Ranch and the magic that happened there. What confused me was the Epilogue? What am I missing here? Going back to when they were children they met? Is that what he’s saying?

As usual, another C. G . Cooper masterpiece! Another look into the wonderful R & R home called Lone Peak Ranch for returning vets. Daniel Briggs and his strong faith is back. And the addition of Alexis who wows her audiences with her beautiful singing voice. After being injured will she sing again?

The Lone Peak Heroes series is an amazing mix of Suspense, Thrill, and especially Hope. It will touch your heart as it takes you on a journey of discovery. It is a fast read in that once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down.

Magical writing about a magical place

Cooper's prose pulls one in, knitting with strands that build into magic. This story sneaks a tie-in with his Corps Justice series that is fun .

got to find Lone Peak!

Another excellent read. Who was the man in the cave, who was the chief Assassin? Why at the pinacle of life was the girl jaded, and still searching. A great read, MAGICAL.

The series gets better

I've now read the first two books in this series and starting to get the picture of it being a series. This one was better than the first, which was still good. Looking forward to the next.

Restored Faith

Great story line. Absolutely love the faith based connections without being “in your face” preachy. Did not anticipate the ending, but it was perfect.

Blown away!

I have been a fan of C. J. Cooper for many years. This story is one that is different in a good way but also familiar. Familiar characters show up plus new ones also.
