3.5 stars.

Mash's journey takes him to the Magic Academy, where he must navigate the challenges of being a magicless student. The volume features some of the funniest moments in the series, including several situations of obvious Harry Potter parody.

MASHLE: Magic and Muscles is a Shonen Jump manga that follows the story of Mash Burnedead, a magicless protagonist in a world full of magic. The manga is a comedy with a vibe akin to a mashup of One Punch Man and Harry Potter.

MASHLE: Magic and Muscles is a hilarious and action-packed manga that is sure to delight fans of shonen manga. The series features a lovable cast of characters, epic battles, and plenty of humor. If you're looking for fun and entertaining read, MASHLE is worth checking out!

Mash punches things. For variety, he occasionally kicks. This book is largely an eternity of fight scenes so I don’t think you’ll need much of a summary here.

Mashle is a one-trick pony and no mistake. It just so happens that the horse hasn’t gone completely lame at this point. Nothing actually matters because this is one of those books where the hero is impervious from the get-go and special abilities are piled upon special abilities.

Still, it has its moments, even if I would charitably say this is the weakest volume yet for our hero. The running gag with Mash’s continued menacing of doors is back and the mangaka still finds something new to do with it.

Mash’s inherent niceness is also mined for some good jokes - he’s probably the only hero who is genuinely apologetic when a villain’s power has no effect on him. Sometimes it’s really more like he isn’t dense, but just so powerful that he doesn’t need to pay as much attention.

The fights are fine, if a bit ridiculous, but they don’t leave a ton of room for extra jokes. The one female villain is pretty amusing after the story moves over her grating personality (although Dot and Finn make a great double act here) and she starts to switch sides depending on whoever she thinks is winning a battle.

Eh, if I’m just reviewing the jokes that probably says that there isn’t much to say here. I think you’re fine if you liked previous volumes, but it’s certainly not the strongest this has been.

3 stars - Mashle is one of those series you keep around because it’s going to do largely the same thing every time. It’s a comfy read that I enjoy, but at the same time, if I never read another volume I doubt I’d miss it.

This volume was fantastic! We learned that there is a larger problem than just the "slytherin-esque" students and the threats are outside of the school too. We meet a Divine Visionary and Mash once again saves his friends and proves being open minded and open hearted can be assets.

This was less silly than some of it's predecessors, but the action was top notch and the art was really outstanding. Some giant panels gave this a lot of scale and it felt impressive. Intrigued to see where this series goes now that it's getting more ambitious. Still a lot left to do at the school and we're already opening up the outside world to some sort of unknown evil.

I really love Mashle, but I need to say something before I review this. Well, a few things.

1. I'm bad a summarizing books, so I'm not going to summarize. I'm selfish and therefore just going to state my opinion. And in this, I might spoil, but I will try my best not to give anything big away.

2. I dislike HP. Like quite a bit. Like I get pleasure out of people giving me weird looks for not liking HP.

Mashle is back, and I'm still in love! To be fair, I think I give Mashle a lot of passes simply because of the connection to HP. It also gets passes because I've started reading more shounen and am more used to random moments of reflection in middle of big action scenes.

There are 3 smaller fights in volume 4 and 1 major fight. I like that we're getting to see other characters fight, such as Dot. I do wish that Komoto would let some others fight, such as Finn or Lemon. I get that that's part of their character, but when push comes to shove, they'd fight.

I'm equally surprised that we've met the magia lupus so quickly and glad that they weren't constantly held in front of us without us really knowing who they are. Especially with the higher fangs. I imagine we'll still see them around after this arc, friend or foe. I'll be interested to see how Komoto balances some bigger name minor characters, since the big fights so far have mostly been against now friends or with now friends.

One thing I will say I thought should have been handled better, though perhaps in an earlier book, was the divine visionary and who they are. I likely just missed something, but I feel like we didn't get a full explanation on who could be the divine visionary. What they do. How they become one.

I do feel like it's good we get a break from Mashle every now and again. I love the fights in the books, but if I didn't have a little break between I might get a little bored. We do usually know in general what's going to happen and who is going to win. If you don't like that type of repetition, this series isn't for you, for sure. Then again, you're probably not reading a random volume 4 review.

And yes, despite the things I wish would happen in Mashle, I absolutely adore this series. There are few ways that I think it could do me wrong. This will definitely be bought and happily displayed on my bookshelf. Well, there's not enough room on my book shelves for normal display. Somewhere in my room where it can stay safe.

As for if and who I would recommend this book to, yes I would for sure. I have already numerous times regardless of if they want to read manga or not. I would say this is probably pretty good for most ages. I think the... weird bits, like Lance having a big brother complex, would generally read as just a loving brother to the younger audience. I will say, maybe balance the series out with Witch Hat Atelier or anything with some decent female characters. If you're looking for some decent, even averagely strong girls, this is not the book you're look for, child.

Holy moly! I could not wait to start this volume after the cliffhanger at the end of volume 3 and I was not disappointed! Not to get spoilery but there were three parts in this that had me putting the book down just to breathe for a second. lol

1. Dot having a double "line" once his headband was blown off! Forgive my language, but I totally wasn't expecting that and it was so fucking cool; especially the explanation behind it as a "warding cross" that makes someone a "battle demon" when their emotional threshold is crossed. So, basically, Dot loves his friend(s) so much that he turns into an absolute magical beast??? I love it so much!

2. When Mash is fighting Abel and gets turned into a puppet multiple times; specifically, when he moves while connected to the strings and it breaks Abel's fingers. I couldn't help but cringe when my mind conjured up the sound of bones breaking at that part, since I really don't like that sound (in movies and such), but it was still such a cool moment!

3. At the end when the Innocent Zero operative(?) is discovered by Rayne when they're disguised as Lance! For a split second I was ready to cry because Lance is one of my favorite characters and I thought he was either a) dead because of the operative or b) was fake the whole time and was the operative in disguise since the beginning. But then through their conversation when the operative says they took the form of a student I'm pretty sure Lance is actually fine, which is good. I mentioned this one though because I TOTALLY wasn't expecting it! And now I need to read the next volume to see what this whole Innocent Zero thing is about!!!

All in all I totally loved this volume and can't wait to read the rest of the series. ❤️

Some people might get bored of the overpowered gag at this point, but honestly, this series makes me laugh and is an easy read, so I vibe with it greatly. Mash is a good boy.

Ah, Mashle. I liked how the fight progressed and continued through this volume. I am enjoying this series a lot. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and I really like this approach to and OP character. Part action, part comedy, this series is a great thing in my eyes. I laugh quite a bit at the over the top moments, and enjoy Mash and his cream puffs.

This volume made me laugh quite a bit and some great fight scenes.

Basically we close up the little one on one fights. But the last fight is pretty epic, including a bit of puppet trickery and some wicked badass fighting but a funny as hell resolution that made me LOL hard. Overall, Mashle is able to handle comedy/action VERY well, with it's own unique design in characters.

Pierwszy tomik, któremu mogę dać 4⭐ i który naprawdę mi się podobał. Nie mam się do czego przyczepić. Dużo się działo, była wartka akcja, były zaskoczenia i zwroty akcji. Czekam na koleje tomiki.

I don't know how much longer it can last, but I'm still amused by this anti-Harry Potter punching other magic users in the face. Hard.
