RYATT is a squeaky-clean romance overloaded with positive messages. We first met Ryatt in his sister’s story, “Quinton,” in which he definitely had a bad attitude. His story begins after his attitude has taken a turn for the better. Although he’s still struggling, he’s now more open to a more positive outlook and letting more people in, which of course, includes Lana. Theirs is a slow-building relationship. In fact, at times it’s almost excruciatingly slow but maybe that’s just my perception. As for any physical aspects of their “romance,” there are NONE, not even kissing. This is strictly a no-touching romance, which made it hard (for me) to connect with the romance aspect of the MCs. I enjoyed reading their story, but I never was emotionally invested in it. It felt more like they were just friends talking about their feelings than actually falling in love with each other. Even at the end when, well I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just leave it at that. Suffice it to say, it’s a nice read but I would have enjoyed more depth to their romance.
We met Ryatt in book 17, Quinton, and if I am truthful he is not the easiest character to like. He appears moody, sullen, ungrateful and generally difficult, but as we get to know him better in this book, and he gets to know himself better as his recovery progresses, you realise that most of this is a defense caused by fear. It's an emotion he doesn't recognize easily, obviously he was scared as a child and fearful on missions but this is different, it is a deep rooted fear of failure and once he understands and acknowledges this we see a whole new Ryatt. He is far nicer, more approachable and is the one who sneaks in and steals Lana's heart!
Ryatt is Quinton’s brother from the book before and is going through all kinds of fear and self doubt. Lab has been on the recovering end of Ryatt’s anger but still insists on seeing if he is alright. I found Lana to be great and full of wisdom although she kept herself sheltered with her own insecurities, doubt and fears. I did t think Ryatt would put himself out there or the Doc would be able to penetrate his mind. They definitely had chemistry together but can two broken souls come together for a happy future. Can wait for the next book.
Ryatt started out at Hathaway House angry and lashing out at everyone. When his sister Quinton ended up back as a patient, he considers it a failure for her. In a fit of pique, he requests to be transferred out, now he's determined to stay and work through all his issues.
Ryatt is surprised when Lana knocks on his door, he's sent her away in tears at one point. He starts off by apologizing for his behavior and they start a bit of a conversation having to do with attitudes. Lana is a happy person, and it tends to be contagious. She's going to town to shop for residents and wants to know if he'd like her to pick up anything for him. He's surprised he'd never thought of wanting something not readily available to him here. He also learns something more about the tablet he has that integrates with the system. He starts thinking about the licorice she mentioned and messages her. She calls back and he learns something yet again he didn't know before. Fighting everything around him he really missed out on some things.
Ryatt still doesn't believe he's improving at all, yet Shane his PT sees it. Ryatt's frustration is such that he is still questioning just about everything. Shane doesn't pull any punches and tells it like it is.
Shane also overhears when Ryatt asks Lana to have lunch with him. A date of sorts.
We get to see all different aspects of Ryatt's treatments. Those with Shane and also with the psychologist. Both are so important in navigating recovery as is the developing relationship with Lana.
We see Quinton again and of course Stan and the animals. Dennis seems to always find a way into the stories with his excellent food and advice. Hathaway House surely has everything to help towards successful recovery.
One of the things I love about these books is how different they are. Everyone is different and while injuries may be similar, no two are exactly alike. The same is true for the people with said injuries.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Ryatt had a rough start at Hathaway House but after he did a major reboot in his attitude he is still struggling to get his feet under him there. Seeing his sister have to return to the centre hit him far harder than he expected as he thought when he got there and did the work it gave a free pass for life but not as maintenance is also important. So he now needs real progress, a permanent change and make the future that he wants to have. Lana looks at life in a happy and fun-loving way. She loves working at Hathaway House and interacting with the patients and staff. But one patient is reticent and grumpy - Ryatt. However, she is attracted to him with his dark and broken depths. Can she show him another view of the world and way of life considering that he has shown her so much more in her world?
I enjoyed this story with the deep analysis of feelings, relationships and mental struggles of Ryatt. It was easy to feel all of the thoughts and emotions that he had and live them along with him. I feel it also gave a bit more of an insight into the effect that recovering from an injury can take on injured service people both on the mental side as well as the physical side. I loved this couple who were definitely very well suited.

Yet another heartwarming story in Dale Mayer's "Hathaway House" series. This is a standalone book but if you read the series you will get to know all the wonderful characters from Dani the owner, Shane the physio to Dennis the chef, all handing out sound advice in their own inimitable way. Hathaway House is a rehabilitation centre for military personnel who have sustained life changing injuries, the treatments are holistic and ground breaking. Ryatt Melzner came to Hathaway House because his sister had been treated there, he wasn't convinced, his sister had needed to return, in Ryatt's view that meant that the treatment hadn't worked. Ryatt wasn't the most popular patient at Hathaway, in fact he was probably the bottom of the list, he was reticent, he was rude, he had even had staff in tears and he was sure that he was going to get kicked out .........until Lana came into his life. Lana worked in admin and she was strangely attracted to Rylett, she could see past the brash exterior to the fear and hurt underneath. Lana had her own demons but this this story follows the journey of Lana and Ryatt as they gradually fall in love, there are self doubts, there are insecurities, there are fears for the future but in true Hathaway House tradition it all ends in a lovely HEA.

I remember Ryatt from the previous book. I was hoping he would get over his bitterness and be able to move forward.
In this book , I could see he was making a concerted effort to get better, to move forward with his life, to overcome his fears, and make decisions about his future.
I thought that while it was interesting that Ryatt had both physical and emotional hurdles to overcome, Lana had just as many emotional issues to overcome.
There was a ton of introspection going on in this book. There was so much discussion about fears, both Ryatt's and Lana's fears. Their conversations often became so convoluted that I was not sure they even understood what they were talking about.
I don't have any issues with the fears, the hesitation, or even anger and frustration. 90% of this nook felt like the MC's were wandering around in a perpetual state of confusion in both thought and conversation. I found it to be very frustrating. I would give this 3 stars. Not one of my favorites in the series. I would recommend you read it and judge for yourself.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
(3.5) I really enjoy this series. I always hope someone somewhere is reading and learning what our wounded vets need. Surely someone has money to burn to provide something like Hathaway house. This book felt like a class on self learning, self worth and how we sabotage ourselves. In also was a lesson in how some people can be care givers, nurses etc for the norm, but all walks. We met Ryatt in a previous book and he is a bitter, wounded warrior. We watch him grow in his medical needs and in his own self worth, struggling for an honest self view. He meets Lana who is always projecting sunshine and happiness. I say projecting because we all know everyone has a level of insecurity and self doubt somewhere. Ryatt and Lana talk, self evaluate, talk, talk to others and struggle to see if they do have the makings of a relationship. This series can be read by young adults and teens. It can be read as a stand alone. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Ryatt #Hathawayhouse #dalemayer #booksprout #valleypublishing
Another inspirational story, full of frustration, doubt and fear of just about everything for Ryatt. Some of this transfers to Lani as they get talking on different subjects. Attraction builds but each skirt around feelings instead of being direct and open, this adds to the doubt and fear consuming them both. With Ryatt having also had his sister come back as a repeat patient that as well has played a part in his thoughts of failing. Intense and powerful story as the characters both work through all their emotional baggage and work out exactly what it is they want. As always I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, this series definitely gets me thinking especially about the struggles on all levels for injured vets and their rehabilitation and recovery from series injuries and the mentle strain as they work to build a future that is so different to planned. The author really seems to understand the struggles and then adds in a little romance to complicate further. Uplifting and set in a wonderful peaceful scenic area.
Ryatt is the 18th book in the Hathaway House series by Dale Mayer. I enjoyed a couple of themes that ran throughout the book. One was about the fears we can all have that hold us back from the progress we could be making in life. The second theme was about our thoughts, whether they were ours or had we ‘absorbed thoughts from those around us’. Something else I enjoyed was Shane’s comment about putting videos of a patients start of physio and a later workout to show how much progress had been made. Ryatt felt he had made very little progress and wondered if he would be asked to leave. This lead to a discussion between Dani and others whether new patients could benefit from having a list of expectations from staff. Hathaway House has grown and management processes are needing to be updated. Loved the behind-the-scenes information. Then as I have come to look forward to some whimsy and wisdom from Denis. Yes, you can have ice cream in a cone as a special treat, but Denis gets to choose the flavours. A definite laugh out loud moment for me. Then Denis going around giving out nutritionally dense smoothies to help certain patients to speed recovery. As always plenty of moments to enjoy in each of these books.
Ryatt’s struggles inspire Lana to encourage him to think ahead to the future after his time at Hathaway House. Several people at Hathaway House have given their support to Ryatt and his need to see beyond his injuries and help himself move forward. He needs to learn how to live beyond the security of the military and to accept any possible permanent limitations. Nothing in life is perfect, but Ryatt needs to see he has made progress even if it’s been slow in coming.
Lana has her own anxiety about the future. Her life has been happy, but meeting Ryatt and learning more of his personality has set her to thinking about a possible future together.
A very inspiring story about the realities surrounding Ryatt & Lana and their budding relationship and being together. I enjoy this kind of story which makes me think about how important a supportive partner is to the success of a relationship.
I have loved this entire series but first with Quinn's book and now her brother Ryatt's I feel we are really getting to see just how hard it is to come back from a major injury especially when you where in the military at the peak of your health
Ryatt was struggling and seeing Quinn having to return as really dented his confidence he always thought that once he had finished the program then that was it. Now he is having to reboot his feelings really get into the program and try to make the best of the situation all after been a grumpy patient and giving the staff grief. Luckily Lana is a person that always looks on the bright side and she is willing to give him another shot Can he finally commit to the program and can these two build something between them Don't expect any major romance and connection between these two this is more a rebuilding of Ryatt type story
Lana and Ryatt make a lovely couple but it wasn't planned that way. Hathaway House has a tendency to do this sort of thing which is part of the charm of this series. As many injured soldiers, Ryatt has so much to overcome physically and mentally. His sister had been a patient and returned to Hathaway house when her recovery outside slipped some. Ryatt wondered if all the work it took to recover was for naught if you had to come back. It is inspiring to see how the wounded and not wounded face and conquer what life has thrown their way both past and present. A reminder to use these aids during any part of your life. A reminder of people so willing to serve to keep us safe. My heartfelt thanks and praise to all these who serve and to those who help others.

Ryatt by Dale Mayer Hathaway House Series Book Eighteen Ryatt Metzner, Quinton’s brother, was getting a reputation at Hathaway House—which wasn’t good. He was downright cranky. When he was brought papers for the transfer, Ryatt claimed he’d wanted…it was a real wake-up call. He didn’t want to leave here. It really shook him when his sister had to come back for more therapy. He didn’t want to fail—or have Hathaway House fail him. Lana was a pretty positive gal. Even with Ryatt. In fact, she saw the man who was hurting through the crabbiness. And soon, they became close friends. Yet, they both found out that they had a lot of fear in their lives. Before they could move forward to see what they felt about each other, Ryatt and Lana had to deal with their own fears. Another sweet story in this series. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Ryatt is frustrated as due to the reputation of Hathaway House he thought his progress would be much quicker and it didn’t help that his sister who was a previous patient has had a relapse. Not only is he making it difficult for himself, but he is making it difficult for the staff and other patients as well.
Lana has a giving personality which makes her a great fit professionally at Hathaway House. She is drawn to Ryatt in spite of herself, but will she be able to show him that he has many things to be grateful including the future they could have together.
This is a heartwarming story about love and overcoming the challenges that life throws at you rather than letting them define you.
Ryatt Metzner has been at Hathaway house for several months . He doesn't do well with change . He's been a grumpy and sometimes just plan nasty . Which has not really helped his rehabilitation . After his sister returns to Hathaway House for more therapy he has a change of attitude . He apologizes to Dani the owner of the Hathway House . He then apologizes to Lana she works in an office at the facility . As they get to know each other and spend bits of time together . They soon realize both have a lot of issues and fears to work through to make a relationship work . This is a fantastic story . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

This is book eighteen in The Hathaway House series and it is Ryatt and Lana's story and omg it is definitely a must read. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and shows the struggles and help that injured vet's need after going through everything that they see and do and you felt like you were there living through all the pain that they suffer and how hard it is to keep going and go forward with a different outlook and the journey back. I couldn't put this book down as it was not only a page turner but also totally addictive and I can't wait to read more book's in the future. I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will not be disappointed.
Ryatt hasn't come to terms with his injuries and lack of progress. He's been really grumpy and short with people. Lana has a very positive outlook on life, as the worst has happened to her, her mother died and her father disappeared under the weight of the grief. This is an emotional, heart searching book about two people who need each other, and the fantastic Hathway House, where rehabilitation is supported and encouraged. Hopefully, there are places like this in the 'real' world.

Ryatt struck me as having a bad attitude in the last book and it continued at the start of this one. He didn’t see the opportunity he was given at Hathaway House only his guilt, loss, and inability to see results. He gets off on the wrong foot with Lana, but he comes to the realization that he needs to change his attitude and they become friends. They both have their own insecurities, ups and downs, and are afraid to admit stronger feelings to each other, but they talk a lot in this book to others and each other. Their relationship does escalate pretty quickly from friends, but maybe they both realized from past experiences that life can change in an instant.
This series is the other side of military romances, the injured, broken and mentally destroyed. Hathaway House is their saviour. A place where they matter and the staff do everything they can to give these Veterans a 'normal' life again. Along the way they find love and their self worth. Ryatt was struggling, angry with the world, he had a long way to go mentally. Lana who is staff at Hathaway, she's always looking on the bright side. Could she be the medicine he needs? I enjoyed reading their story, perhaps less wordy with their feelings and thoughts as I started to drown. Great series though.
What a lovely romance. Ryatt is at Hathaway House trying to heal from wounds both mental and physical. Lana works at Hathaway House. They both have fears that they need to face before they can move forward. Together they face their fears and find happiness. This is very different from some of Dale Meyers other series, but I found it very believable and romantic. Two people getting to know each other and themselves and growing together. It was wonderful. I received an ARC free and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 18th book in the Hathaway House series and even though it can be read as a standalone story I do suggest reading the previous book first as we first meet Ryatt in is his sisters story. Ryatt's whole attitude and demeanor is one of anger and self doubt, he meets Lana who works at the House and they hit it off, Ryatt definitely works on himself throughout this story and there is a lot of back and forth between Ryatt and Lana who has plenty of her own self doubt. I liked their story and the progess of their relationship, really wonderful seeing all our old friends again.
I was so glad to read Ryatt's book after meeting him in Quintons as he really was in a bad place when he arrived at Hathaway House and whilst he decides to stick with things he still has plenty of struggles to go through. Lana was the breath of fresh air and just what Ryatt needs and they both make each other think about what they want in the now but also future not just in life but love. I always love going back to Hathaway House and see old friends and new and once again this book did not disappoint.

I love this series, but like to see the patients for a change more positive, I mean have determination to get through what they have to accomplish. I know their injuries are devastating, but laying around feeling sorry for yourself and guilt ridden isn't helping. Then Lana has issues. It gets repetitive when everyone has the same problems. But a HEA anyway. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
We first met Ryatt in his sister's book, and he still has a bad attitude about life. The works is a lot harder then he thought it would be and he feels like nothing is going right for him, then he meets Lani who works there and always seems to have a happy smile for everyone, but she has a lot of issues also. This book talks about doubt, fear, struggles and there's lot of emotions to get to the HEA
Ryatt: Hathaway House Book 18 by Dale Mayer is another emotional journey set in this safe haven where everyone gets a second chance. I thoroughly enjoyed reading & couldn’t put down. I highly recommend reading each book is a standalone but does have previous characters so you will definitely get more out of each story if read in order but definitely not required.

Ryatt is at Hathaway house to recuperate but is not going well until he gets introduced to Lana who is there to help Romantic, kind of enemies to lovers with a slow burn relationship. Ryatt was big strong grumpy guy who thought he wag hard done by but once he met Lana things changed for both of them. Their chemistry was unmissable. Great book loved it°.

Lovely series following the recovery of military personnel. Can be read as a stand-alone but strongly recommend you read as part of a series otherwise you miss out on the backstory and regular characters. Ryatt featured in previous book, very bitter and resistant to treatment. This is his journey, with the help of Lana, to recovery. Ryatt not my favourite character but still worth reading.

This series has all the feels, and this novel was just as heartwarming. Ryatt and Lana both have fear based issues holding them back. they need to get beyond their issues and communicate with each other if they want a relationship. This was a wonderful story.

Overall a good book. I like the connection the staff has with their patients. The struggles endured by our veterans is very real and this book brought some of the aftermath they face to life. I hope to see what other patients find on their journey in the series.
