Catch up with your favorite Lantern Beach characters as they come together to help the town's beloved police chief.
On the night before Christmas Eve, as she begins her maternity leave, Lantern Beach Police Chief Cassidy Chambers disappears. Suspecting foul play, law enforcement officers combine forces with the Blackout Security team and island residents to find her.
Despite a snowstorm in his path, Cassidy’s husband, Ty, desperately tries to return home in time to save her. With his wife’s and baby’s lives on the line, he needs a Christmas miracle.
Will the tightknit community of Lantern Beach be able to rescue their beloved police chief in time? Or will Cassidy’s cries for help be met only with silence?
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
“Christmas is the time for miracles. It started with the miracle of God being born in human flesh. His miracles have continued throughout the years. We can’t stop believing and hoping now.”
“Lord, Your Son was born as a baby into this world in circumstances that seemed uncertain. Yet His birth transformed mankind as we know it. You kept Your promises to Mary and Joseph. Lord, I beg You now to watch over this baby of mine also.”
“Faith is the only thing that’s gotten us through. Time and time again, for that matter.”
This was an entertaining and quick Christmas cozy read. Always a pleasure to be back in Lantern Beach, the crime capital of the world!! What I really enjoyed about this book was the many chapters in the perspective of various Lantern Beach characters from over the years. It was well written and suspenseful. It wasn’t a whodunnit, though, which I prefer. It was more of just suspense to see if Cassidy can be rescued before the birth of her baby. And the Christmas setting was perfect for this time of the year.
This is my first book by Christy Barritt although I have had the Lantern Beach series on my TBR list for some time. Even though this was a novella, it felt complete, had wonderful characters, great suspense, and it was all tied up with the birth of an adorable baby on Christmas Eve. I look forward to reading the Lantern Beach Mysteries in 2022.
Weeks away from giving birth, Police Chief Cassidy Chambers is abducted outside the police station just as she's about to start her maternity leave. The whole town joins forces to find her.
This was a super quick read that I finished in one afternoon. I seriously could not read it fast enough. I loved that we got to revisit so many of the Lantern Beach residents. Each chapter was told from the perspective of either Cassidy, Ty, or a different townie as they raced against time to save their friend.
I really enjoyed this Christmas novella. It's a must read for fans of the Lantern Beach series.
Silent Night by Christy Barritt features a race against the clock as Cassidy is kidnapped and trying to save her unborn child. The mystery was neat as readers will fly through the pages of the story. The neat thing in the story is the heading for each chapter. Barritt has brought back practically every single character who has ever had their own story in a Lantern Beach story. They each have a point of view chapter as they help hunt for Cassidy. Barritt crafted short, choppy chapters to signify the race against the clock. Of course, there is a happy ending filled with joy and happiness for all the characters.
I received a complimentary copy of Silent Night by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Pregnant, with about two weeks before her baby is due, Lantern Beach Police Chief Cassidy Chambers is abducted from outside the police station while her husband Ty is trying to get home from Indianapolis, Indiana. The whole island joins together to find the missing mother-to-be. Will they find her before she goes into labor?
SILENT NIGHT is a Lantern Beach Christmas novella. It took less than an hour for me to read it, as I kept having to turn the pages to find out what happened next. Having enjoyed it very much, I highly recommend it!
A perfect holiday story for the Lantern Beach series. I have enjoyed following Cassidy and Ty's journey together. This was a sweet story, but with all the suspense of course!
Really, a “Silent Night” with any of Christy Barritt’s books? NOT! If you’ve ever read any of her books you know that there is no such thing as a silent night, and especially on Lantern Beach with Police Chief Cassidy Chambers. I LOVE all of Christy Barritt’s books because they are so full of action, intrigue, drama, suspense, and sometimes romance. She also has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat, reading until the very last word. They start off with a bang, and keep going! In this story, you think, “Sweet, a Christmas story.” Well, you might get that and a whole lot more! I truly enjoyed reading this book because it was nice to reconnect with some of these characters. I had thought the author had stopped writing about these characters, but she brought them all back, like visiting old friends. I loved seeing how Cassidy had touched so many people and they all wanted to help her. The author also weaves in a strong hope in God’s protective hand, and the realization that without God, life can be much more difficult. Of course, I’m not sure how Cassidy’s life could get more difficult! Christy Barritt truly is a gifted author, because her books are always so full of interesting adventures, that make it so hard to breathe. This book is so suspenseful I had no idea which person was the true bad guy. My heart was pounding and my mind was going fast trying to figure out how it was all going to end. Oh, and what an ending! WOW! This story will keep you on the edge of your seat until you finish it. Be prepared to not put it down, even to eat or sleep! If you like twists, and turns, “who done it” stories, then you need to buy this book!
A good, clean book that focuses on staying faithful and relying on good friends
It always makes me a little disappointed when an author throws a child into the mix of these mystery stories. Because as you know, children change everything. And I hope that having a child doesn't change the direction of these books. Or the impact that the stories have. I am just hoping that the child doesn't become the center of focus in the storyline because sometimes that can be very disturbing. Having said that, I must say that I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to see how the entire town got together to help. Which I would say, is expected for somebody like Cassidy. But, when you consider how she started out, not knowing anybody there, it is it nice to see, here. Faith, family and friends are definitely the theme for this Christmas time book.
This was a really good story with a lot of interesting characters, a tense plot, and also a sprinkling of Christian faith. My only problem: I didn’t realize until I started reading that this was supposed to be part of a series, and the many, many characters were more or less just a blur of faces to me. I kept Cassidy, Ty, Jenn and a couple of others straight, but all the others sort of blurred and became one really helpful, strong and brilliant person. The theme of a supportive Christian small town community wasn’t lost on me though. I was thinking of reading more in the series, but am reluctant to do so since it appears as though there are several overlapping series about Lantern Beach, and my TBR list is too long to open a new can of worms. This worked as a stand alone book though.
Silent Night: A Lantern Beach Christmas Novella is part of the Lantern Beach Mysteries and is the best Christmas novella I read this year. Chief Cassidy is going on maternity leave and is ready to have her baby at any moment. But of course, nothing about this birth at Christmas will be normal. I honestly cannot imagine a crazier story of a birth than the one in this book. This book is a quick read due to its size and intense suspense. But this book is still storytelling at its best. Ms Barritt continues to be one of my very favorite authors and it was a joy to finally read this book where Cassidy has her baby. Great, great read! I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
I love the Lantern Beach Mystery series by Christy Barrett!! And this book “Silent Night” was just as good!! I couldn’t put it down and finished in 1.5 hours! So many twists and turns and great perspective insight from each character as they try to find Cassidy and save her and her unborn child in time before she gives birth! Love the Christmas setting too and perfect quotes relating to the birth of Jesus including this quote as Cassidy is praying after being abducted, “ Lord, Your Son was born a baby into this world in circumstances that seem uncertain. Yet his birth transformed mankind as we know it. You kept your promises to Mary and Joseph. Lord, I beg You now to watch over this baby of mine also”. Must read for sure!

Ty was away finishing up a business trip up North. He was in a blizzard and couldn’t get get a flight home. Cassidy finished up at the office to start her maternity leave. The baby was due in 2 weeks. She was so thankful the baby wasn’t due with Ty not able to get home. Cassidy finally left and went around back to get in her car and noticed a person and a wrecked car at the side of the road. And the story gets crazy. Don’t put it down. You’ll want to read it straight through.
I’ve read every book in the Lantern Beach series and spinoffs, so I enjoyed this update and involvement of all the characters we’ve come to love in this wonderful island community. Cassidy’s baby is due soon, but it appears she will not be allowed a “normal” delivery. It seems trouble stalks her. However, she remains up to the task no matter how desperate things turn out. Get set for lots of drama as this Christmas story unfolds. Filled with suspense and danger, the intrigue continues strong throughout the fast-paced story. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
Great "ending" to the Lantern Beach stories - if there is an end??? Everyone on Lantern Beach has been anticipating the arrival of Police Chief Cassidy Chamber's baby but when she disappears on Christmas Eve, everyone springs into action to look for the missing police chief. There is so much story packed into this novella, you will not be able to put this book down until the very end. Mystery, suspense, great characters, and always an interesting story will be found in every Christy Barritt book. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
Cassidy Chambers is heading home from the police station to start her maternity leave two days before Christmas. She sees a woman in distress and tries to help but ends up drugged and kidnapped, awakening in an unknown location with no way to communicate with the outside. When she realizes the woman is after her baby, all she can do is hope her friends find her in time. Especially once she realizes she’s in labor.
A novella in the Lantern Beach series. A lot of people from previous books are mentioned so it’s a trip down memory lane if you’ve read them all.
A precious time in the lives of Cassidy and Ty Chambers as they expect their first baby. Cassidy is ready to start her Maternity Leave 2 weeks before the baby is due. Just as she leaves the Police Station, she's drawn into a plot where she is knocked out and abducted. Ty is trying to get back home before the storm hits the area; but is too late for that. Although a novella, the story is intense. It's a wonderful about love, trusting God in the most difficult times. An great story for the Christmas Season.
Ms. Barritt has created a beautiful Christmas story! Ms Barritt needs to make this into a movie, it would become an instant classic. Ms. Barritt is a master at pulling you into a story from the first page and keeping your attention from start to finish. I ended up reading this all night because I couldn't put it down, the suspense had a hold of me and wouldn't let me go! Be sure you have tissues nearby as you will need them. Buy it, read with Kindle Unlimited but DO read it, you will want to read it over again.
Ty and Cassidy's long awaited baby is about to make an appearance, but of course, nothing goes easily on Lantern Beach, be it a festival or a wedding or a baby. Just days before Cassidy is due, she is taken hostage by an unknown suspect and Ty is stranded hundreds of miles away. It was a reunion of sorts, as all the characters we came to know and love in previous Lantern Beach books rallies around to try and find Cassidy. It was great catching up with everyone and there was a lot of mystery, intrigue, and action packed into this Christmas novella.
My thoughts: silent night is a Christmas novella written in multiple point of views as Cassidy police chief is fixing to give birth to her first child. Someone kidnaps her and threatening steal her baby and the blackout team and Cassidy's friends or desperately searching for her before it's too late. Written in Christy barracks fast-paced style this will grab your interest and hold it until the end as you root for people to find Cassidy before it's too late. It is a Christmas story but you can read it at any time of the year I was given a copy for a and all opinions on my own.
Christy Barritt can take a familiar story and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to find the end of a nightmare. Everyone in Lantern Beach comes to help the California girl they call friend and Chief be freed from someone with an incredibly evil plan . Ty is trying to get home when a winter storm traps him hours from home. Now, Lantern Beach lovers, let Christy Barritt tell you her story!
I have read all the books in the Lantern Beach series and have enjoyed getting to know all the characters. I love the way the author keeps you up on what is happening in their lives by weaving them into other books. It's like keeping up with good friends. You also get to watch them grow in their relationship with the Lord. I would highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys suspense and faith based books.
This was simply marvellous. The suspense, and terror, that Cassidy and Ty have to deal with as the birth of their baby approaches sends your heart rate racing. The love and support of the community in searching for Cassidy is awesome. Faith and love for Christmas.
Join favorite Lantern Beach characters as they race against time and weather for their missing beloved police chief and unborn child. There's a happy after to this inspirational suspense novella from Christy Barritt.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I had an Advance Readers Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. In this book Christy Barritt revisits several characters from the Lantern Beach books and brings their lives up to date. When Cassidy is abducted just before her baby is due, they work together to find her. A great read especially if you have read any of the books set in Lantern Beach.
I was thrilled when I saw that there was a Lantern Beach Christmas novella! It was exciting as they all are. I loved it. I enjoyed seeing some of the old characters from other stories. It was like an early Christmas gift and also on Kindle Unlimited. What could be better.
Christy Barritt delivered--both an action filled thriller and a baby! All happened in just a few hours, so it had to be tightly written, and it was. Cassidy finally has her baby. And we get a picture of how beloved the Sheriff of Lantern Beach really is. Another great (and fast) read for Christmas.
Woman who wanted something she didn’t have Chief Cassidy due date was within days Small island she was loved by all Now anxious for her and the baby’s safety The weather was bad yet they searched Ty was on a business trip, flights cancelled Prayers and love for the child to come Heart warming story with faith
Try & Cassidy have had many storm's but this one was one that required faith and hope and trust . their faith and the prayers and faith of the community showed up just when they needed it. And Faith was born in humble surrounding with so many who loved it. Couldn't put this down until the end.
