This is the second book in the Mismatched Mates series.
It was supposed to be a quiet summer break from college for Abby and Oliver, but a weekend getaway quickly takes an unexpected turn as Oliver is mistaken for someone else. Before long, new secrets from the past come to the surface and they find themselves drawn into a chase for a mysterious artefact that's connected to them both.
As they delve deeper, they learn that even the best of intentions can have unintended consequences. Whose motives are pure, whose are evil, and whose are simply misguided?
If you're looking for sweet and steamy romance, you've come to the right place! I started reading romance novels in my early teens and writing them soon afterwards; growing up in small towns in western Canada, there wasn't much else to do! Luckily, those early stories have never seen the light of day.
Now, I live in the UK with my husband and daughter and spend my free time diving into magical or just romantic settings where true love (almost) always wins.
This book was a surprise - in a good way! In the first book, Abby had to learn not to judge someone before she got to know them, and in this one, Oliver is tested in a similar way when he finds a new relative he didn't know he had. Elijah doesn't make a great first impression and there are secrets upon secrets about how and why he and Oliver never knew the other existed. Just when I thought I figured out who was to blame or how I felt about a character, we found out something new that made me re-think everything. Abby was the voice of reason throughout, cautioning Oliver that you can never truly understand someone without knowing their whole story and seeing life through their eyes.
There is a lot of adventure and high stakes and one big surprise that I won't spoil, and I was definitely hooked in throughout. Everything wraps up nicely but the stage is set for another book in the series and I really hope there is one!
If you lived the first, you don't want to miss out on this one more of Abby and Oliver, secrets, action, and adventure. Still, it wouldn't be a paranormal romance without some fated mates.
This book begins with Abby being surprised by a sudden trip and last-minute notice. Who wouldn't want to go to a book conference with their friends? Oliver is sure doing it this time and giving her the best gift ever.
I love Oliver's endearing nickname for Abby. This book is from a multiple pov jumping to the characters we need to read from and expanding on them. This story gets steamy right away. Oh, a doppelganger of Oliver. What like the last book, no way is that possible; it can't be like Liz.
Oh, yikes, that can't be good. How does Oliver get in trouble so early in this book? Does it have something to do with who Abby saw? Who is Elijah? Why do these men want him? Book? This story is getting thrilling, with so many unanswered questions and new adventures for Abby and Oliver.
Omg, I love Storm's badass character so unique. I wonder what her story is. Interesting we finally get to meet Elijah and learn about him. Still no answers about the book. Ooh, a mate, I wonder who it is?
The conversations are a bit cryptic and suspenseful, with many mysteries surrounding Eli and the book. Oh, interesting, this isn't the case of just one doppelganger, but how about two. We know Abby and Liz look alike, and Oliver and Eli apparently do too. I wonder if Eli is mated to Liz, who is a human?
Interest in that Liz feels the effect of the mate bond. Wow, Oliver and Abby are jet-setting everywhere in this book in their own quest for answers. Elijah is kinda a jerk thin about refusing his mate in search of his book prophecy. You'll have to read what happens, but this book will surprise you in the end.
This book contains many characters, lots of secrets and trouble, and of course delightful characters to lure you into a page-turning read. I love how the author incorporated new characters with characters known and love and even including humans. This book is exciting as they search out truths, lies, and mates. I love how the author incorporated action and suspense into this story surprising the reader with a twisted tale. This book couldn't have been better. It was a fantastic read, and I loved the ending hoping for more of these characters.
I loved the book! It was very hard to put down at times and all I can say is that the story took quite a few hours of my precious sleep. New characters are introduced and some old ones evolve and honestly everything is amazing! I really love the plot twists and really enjoyed the book! Really recommending the book to everyone who loves werewolf stories!
Thank you Melody for another amazing book. I have loved getting to know everyone. So glad Liz got her happy ending as well. I would have liked to know if Abby and Oliver end up having twins or not. What does Eli and Liz get up to with this new power.
I loved this book! The original story line was great! She wrote it well so it wasn’t just a continuation of the first book it changed and evolved! I love the introduction of new and old characters great book!!
I absolutely love the storyline, character development and writing style of this author. Oliver and Abby continue their story in this book, but we are introduced to Eli and Liz and how they are connected to the first couple. Giancarlo Herrera and Priscilla Broussard narrate in the Duet style which is perfect to bringing this story to life and with keeping the flow of the story fast paced with its twists and turns.
So much better then the in series privious! I was really immersed in the plot, there was no breather from beggining to the last hour! Engaging and interesting. Much less repetative and less plot holes, though there was some of both. I didnt like the end though.... The resolution of the conflict. I dont like this kind of explanation that seems to come from nowhere, just because. But I do have higher hopes for the next book 🙂
