A burned letter, family secrets, and a psychic who has refused his gift. Spring has arrived in the rural magical village of Covenstead, Vermont, and Grace wants to slow down and smell the lilacs. But when a local turns up dead after the town’s Flower Arranging For Beginners event, it’s time for Grace to set aside her bouquet and get down to business.
What could a dusty old medical chart have to do with the murder? Each clue puzzles Grace more than the last. An accident from the past seems to be involved, as well as a psychic’s premonition of death. Thirteen ravens are circling, and Grace must try to interpret visions, fortunes, and fate as she searches for the truth.
For fans of paranormal women’s fiction and witch cozy mysteries—a combination of midlife self discovery, magic, and murder. This is book seven in the Midlife Medicine series. Can be read as a standalone or as part of the series.
Another perplexing mystery for Grace and Lucky as they must uncover the truth about a death in Covenstead. As usual the residents that Grace interviews are lying but why? A few twists, a red herring that led me astray before I finally figured it out a few chapters ahead of Grace. An enjoyable afternoon read.
This is the 7th book in the Midlife Medicine series by Amorette Anderson.
I think this series just keeps getting better and better with each book. Such a joy to read. Grace is an inspiring character that surprised me with all her insights into her yesteryear type of world.
I read this book via my Kindle Unlimited subscription
After a long day Grace Littleton, the town sleuth, receives a late night phone call that Brian Coldwell has been killed. The whole town believes his son, Quinn, who has just been released from jail has killed his father because the death wand found next to Brian belongs to Quinn. Grace has met Quinn and doesn't feel the young man has committed the crime. She feels she must analyze each clue to get it right. At Grace's side are her pit bull familiar, Lucky, and her next door neighbor, Tenley, who is developing her psychic skills. The consistent clues are 13 ravens, roses and a black and white ring with crossbones. I have read each of the books in the Midlife Medicine series and feel this is the best one yet. Amorette Anderson has done an outstanding job with this series. I recommend you reading all seven books in this series to date. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
Still enjoying this series. Great mysteries and enjoyable/interesting characters.

Once again Amorette Anderson weaves us a suspenseful tale of mystery, in the magical town hidden from the "normal" world. This time our mystery solving nurse, Grace, has to find who used a "death wand" to take out a man in his home. Grace has until the following morning to discover who may have committed the crime. If she is unable to do so, the outside State Police may be informed. She works against the clock to solve the mystery of the mans death, and if she is unsuccessful, this could lead to the end of the town being hidden and the end of *The Ways" .
This book is yet another great book in the series following Grace and her familiar Lucky while they investigate a death in the small village of Covenstead. As I always find with Amorette's book's they are addictive and real page turner's. In this book a Death Wand has been used, and a son is accused of the murder as it's his wand and he has just got out of prison. But are things that cut and dried? I'd definitely recommend this book, it's got plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you interested 🥰
Another fun cozy mystery by one of my favorite authors. This is one of the better books in the series but you should really start by reading Book 1 and read each book before this one. You could probably read this as a stand-alone but its so much fun watching these characters grow and change. Take my word....you want to read this series and all of the others this author has written.
Amorette Anderson Charts and Charms: Midlife Medicine Book #7 ARC REVIEW Flowers, rings and a death wand Puzzles, charts, skull ring, lilies, innocence, babies, a psychic gift, spring, Covenstead Vermont, Carl, Doc Ham, Death Wand, Quinn. Can Grace use these clues to deduce who murdered David?
Reading Amorette’s stories is so joyful. The day by day events of a small city combined with smart and wonderful characters, add to this recipe a mysterious murder and will have a great cozy story. Apart from it, Amorette always brings deep thoughts on what we could do to make our lives and the lives of the others around us better ones. It’s really refreshing, light and great.
Grace once again needs to solve a murder in Covenstead when a man is killed by a death wand. Not only must she quickly solve the mystery or the State Police will be called and the secret village will become be known to the public. Another interesting story by MS Anderson highly recommended may be the best so far in the series.
I appreciate that being middle aged, you can still be needed and have a new perspective on life. Grace is still growing in her role, and is trusting her intuitions more, and a change in her romance with Ben is evolving.
Another brilliant story of Grace and her familiar Lucky. I love these stories and hoe Grace investigates the seemingly impossible clues. Just brilliant - highly recommend
This book was quite fun to read. It was a little different from the others, but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet. Sometimes the obvious answer is not the answer at all. I am excited to see what happens in the next book.
The MC delves into a mystery that involves rejecting one’s gifts, sacrificing for the greater good and believing in innocence even while investigating a murder. This is a thoroughly engaging cozy mystery with psychological overtones that permeate the search for truth.
I really enjoyed this magical story about Grace, a nurse who lives in a magical town who has been in charge of getting to the truth of crimes and reporting to the council who decides how to reform the person who did the crime with love and understanding. We need this a lot these days.
THE MISSING LETTER MYSTERY Another fabulous mystery in this secret place of witchy ways. I love the talking animals and back to nature theme of this small town community. Recommended clean read.
I just love this series of books. I always feel as if their feelings are mine and the scenery is vivid and exciting as the story unfolds. Its captivating.
Trust once lost is hard to earn back This is an interesting story about a young man returning to Covenstead. The town has preconceived opinions about him from when he was a teenager. There are a lot of twists and turns in this story and it keeps you wondering what Grace will be find next. Her instincts are correct but she doubts herself. Lucky comes up with some good ideas too.
Each character has arc. Every new person is well developed. The plot flows well.
I recommend this book to those that enjoy a cozy paranormal mystery with a happy ending. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review.
The latest book in the series finds Grace going against the vocal people in town who believe a man was murdered by his son who had to serve time in jail away from Covenstead. But did he do it? Grace has her doubts and she is the town sleuth after all whose job it is to solve the crimes in town. The trouble is the son has fled due to how people view him so Grace needs to solve the crime before the state police are called in which would forever change Covenstead because the town only those who are to live there know about will have the magical barrier dropped as a result and magic will gradually cease to be a way of life for the residents.
Grace gets some clues from her friends but a piece of paper finally leads her to a new person of interest who can supply the answers as to what happened that night!
I enjoy this series and recommend this book and the series to all those who enjoy cozy mysteries. It’s fun to guess along as to whodunnit and when the answers are revealed to see if you are right or wrong.
You can read this book without reading the previous books in the series but then you’d miss watching how Grace grows into her job as town sleuth and how she copes with being in a town that is full of witches! For someone (like us) who never knew such a place existed the change takes some getting used to. One of the first things that occurs is she finds out her dog is her familiar and she can communicate telepathically with her! Wouldn’t that be something if we could really “talk” with our pets and know what they are feeling at any given time!
Why not pick up this book and after you read it pick up the whole series and get to know Grace and the people of Covenstead. I think you’ll be glad you did!
Another entertaining magical cozy mystery! CHARTS AND CHARMS is the seventh installment in the Midlife Medicine series by Amorette Anderson. Get ready for some fun and danger in this murder mystery and perfect flower arrangement in this fun witchy cozy mystery.
An exhausting day followed by a late night phone call finds Grace off on another case - a horrible murder with the town accusing the son. Something about the crime scene bothers Grace. She's also met the son and just feels he is innocent, but everywhere she turns, townspeople insist the son did it. Tenley is also getting dreams that may help Grace's investigation and she performs some focused psychic work revealing 13 raven's and a ring with a skull and crossbones. One of the Goodrich brothers did mention the victim had been talking about Raven's. Nothing makes sense. Roses, ravens and a ring how does it all fit together? If Grace doesn't solve the murder quickly, the State cops could involved and that would destroy Covenstead's privacy, seclusion and the magical way.
I did receive an advance readers copy from the author and the above is my freely given and honest review.
This is really the best one yet which is hard to say, as I loved every one. First, this novel has a woman as the protagonist (yeah!). Second we have a woman who is in the mid of her life. Well written. Unusual location, a village of people who all have paranormal abilities, some have their skills well developed but for others their talents are new. Grace our protagonist is the nurse at the sole clinic and hospital in the beautiful village of Covenstead. She also serves as the town sleuth. In this novel a murder has a murder has occurred. Everyone says it is the son. Grace does not think so. She wants to take her time and review clues. As each clue arrives, Grace puts them together like a puzzle. You will have to read the novel to discover the murdered and if Beth was, correct. I truly enjoy these novels by Amorette. They are a joy to read, plan a cozy weekend in your favorite novel with a cup of hot chocolate in your favorite corner. Know that while you relax your brain will also be challenged to figure out who done it. I received this novel as a gift and I choose to review it. These are all my personal opinions.
Another great entry in the Midlife Medicine series. Grace and Lucky are tasked with finding the killer who used a death wand to commit murder. All the evidence points to Quinn, the victim's son and the owner of the death wand, but Grace's intuition tells her that he is innocent. It seems the entire village has already tried and convicted Quinn, who has gone into hiding, and if Grace can't determine who the real killer is the peace keeper council will bring in the State Police which would mean the end of Covenstead as a magical refuge, since they would have to take down the boundaries which protect the village from non-magical entry. As Grace investigates each clue, it seems hopeless, but she will not give up till she uncovers the truth. And that truth is so clear when it is revealed, but surprised me completely. A great read, and a real page turner. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
