I found this tough going at first because it was hard to keep in mind who was who in the racial scheme of things. The Horites are the Hurrians but they are not the Hivites who are actually Greeks. However, the Hittites and the Hurrians are related, but at least they are not the same as the Amorites. Until I'd made some extensive notes (I eventually made about fifty of them) and gone over them several times, I didn't get the differences clearly in my head. (And some of the differences are, I suspect, very important.)

The legacy of the Hurrians is a long one that extends even to the present day in terms of the same sort of occult rituals of magic and necromancy. The kispum ritual of the Amorites also seems to have transcended that culture and become embedded in present day ancestor worship.

The information about the inscription found on a tablet on Mount Hermon is significant, particularly since I checked on the discoverer Charles Warren and found he was a noted Freemason. The date of discovery is also significant in the light of recent events and the "revivification of the rephaim" at the threshing floor of El.

The defilement of the Capitol building ("capitol", a name for the Roman temple of Jupiter, was insisted on by Jefferson who continually rejected the designer's name "Congress House") is marked by the pagan, pythagorean, masonic frescoes showing Washington's manifestation as a deity.

One thing did stand out to me amongst all the different names for Saturn across the ages. One was missing. The author came close to it but just let it slip past. And I happen to think this is possibly the most important one as far as Scripture is concerned: Belial.

Notes:

1. A deep pit called an abi was used to summon deities from the netherworld. Those called from the “dark earth” were offered sacrifice in exchange for favours, such as carrying evil back below. This is a Hurrian/Hittite rite, not connected to the Amorite kispum ritual. TSCOS, p 53
2. Rituals in the abi were performed at sunset or night inside a magic circle traced in the earth. Similar practices were known at Akkad (Sumeria) where a magic circle called a zisurrû was marked in flour to protect against demons or curses. This is again similar to modern occult practices where a protective circle is chalked. TSCOS, p 55
3. The abi is uniquely Hurrian. TSCOS, p 62
4. The Hurrians remained in control of Jerusalem and Shechem down to the time of David. TSCOS, p 71
5. The Septuagint described Hamor the Hivite as Chorraios, that is, the Horite or Hurrian. TSCOS, p 71
6. The Hivites were Greeks, while the Hurrians came from Anatolia, Syria and Northern Mesopotamia. The Anakim name derives from anax, meaning the gods, the Homeric heroes, the master of the house or the ship master. TSCOS, p 71
7. The men of Shechem were looking forward to what the benefits of circumcision were: their livestock will be ours. TSCOS, p 72
8. The Hurrians introduced the worship of Mitra to Israel and Shechem was a cult centre for this
9. Baal-berith, lord of the covenant, is a descriptive of Mitra, and was worshipped after Gideon died. (Judges 8) TSCOS, p 73
10. The Samaritans today believe that the Jews follow a faction who followed the high priest Eli to Shechem and usurped the role of Phinehas. TSCOS, p 74
11. Araunah (Ornan) is probably based on the Hurrian word, ewri-, meaning lord or ruler. TSCOS, p 75
12. Threshing floors are portals. TSCOS, p 75
13. The necromantic pit, the abi, was linked to key sites – Shechem, Jerusalem, the area around Mount Sinai. Yet abi is connected to words that describe activities expressly forbidden by God. TSCOS, p 77f
14. To a Jew, ‘seed preserved from before the flood’ (description of Nebuchadnezzar in extra-biblical literature) meant a descendant of the Watchers. (Classified as apkallu by Amar Annus). TSCOS, p 80f
15. The Rephaim are apparently summoned by a kispum rite and come in their chariots on a three day journey to a threshing floor, a plantation, a sanctuary, a house-palace, in the Lebanon. The three-day journey hints at a lunar symbolism tied to the theme of resurrection. TSCOS, p 84
16. The Hurrians lived in the land centuries before Abraham and into the time of David, if not after. The Hurrian (Horite) concept of the ritual pit (abi), magic circles, contact with gods of the underworld, offerings to the ancestral dead and veneration of long dead kings – the mighty men of old, the Nephilim/Rephaim – continues around the world to this day. TSCOS, p 94
17. Kumarbi and El are both portrayed as the father of the gods. El was credited with the creation of humanity and was called ‘Bull El’. El is a generic word for god in Ugaritic and Hebrew. But there are many differences between El and Yahweh. TSCOS, p 99 for drunken wallowing in urine and faeces
18. The nations have possibly been divided according to the number of the ‘sons of Bull El’ TSCOS, p 102
19. Psalm 82 – instead of divine council – could be ‘assembly of El’. TSCOS, p 106
20. All the kingdoms of the world may have been offered to Jesus on Mount Hermon during the temptations. TSCOS, p 107
21. Quoting Lipinksi: Mount Hermon is the cosmic mountain which joins the earth with the highest heaven. The same conception lies behind the episode of the sons of God in the Book of Enoch. The celestial beings gather on the summit of Mount Hermon because this is the mountain of the gods, the Canaanite Olympus. TSCOS, p 109
22. The original abode of El may have been the mountains of Armenia known as Urartu – Ararat – which some scholar believe is the location of Aratta, the rival kingdom to Nimrod’s Uruk. TSCOS, p 110
23. The trilingual god-list from Ugarit confirms that the Amorites, Hurrians, Akkadians and Sumerians worshipped ‘the’ god who was known as Enlil (Amorite), Kumarbi (Hurrian) and El. TSCOS, p 114
24. ‘elil’ is idols in Isaiah 10:10-11 TSCOS, p 120
25. ‘elilim’ came to mean worthless TSCOS, p 122 In the Septuagint, ‘elilim’ in Psalm 96:5 was translated demons. TSCOS, p 122
26. In Isaiah2, ‘elilim’ may be a play on Enlil. TSCOS, p 123
27. The Tower of Babel was located at Eridu TSCOS, p 125
28. ‘kur’ means mountain and also netherworld. Enlil, Great Mountain, can also mean Great Below. TSCOS, p 129
29. Removing head and hands was a common way of simplifying the body count after a battle. The loss of Dagon’s head and hands signified the defeat of an enemy. TSCOS, p 138
30. David and his men fought against the yeῘîdê ha-rāpâ – sons of the rapha. However yeῘîdê is never used for blood descendants but designates one ‘born into the group by adoption, initiation or consecration’. In addition, ‘rapha’ may be an emblem or designation. Thus sons of the rapha really means a brotherhood of warriors who worshipped the Nephilim. TSCOS, p 140f
31. Charles Warren on Mount Hermon 1869 TSCOS, p 143 (Warren joined the Freemasons in 1859)
32. Various possible inscription translations TSCOS, p 148ff
33. Isaiah 14:21 – perhaps “fill the world with Watchers”. Balaam’s prophecy might also refer to Watchers. TSCOS, p 162
34. Ha-mašḩîṯ, the destroyer, takes the lives of the firstborn in Exodus 12:23. Only mentioned elsewhere in 1 Chronicles 21:15 standing between heaven and earth at the threshing floor of Araunah. TSCOS, p 190
35. Saturn was chained so that, although he consumed the days, months and years of the past, he could not turn to eating the present and the future. TSCOS, p 205
36. Kronos may come from a Semitic word for horned one. TSCOS, p 222
37. Diodorus identified the god of Cathage as Kronos. TSCOS, p 227
38. Kronos shares El’s title, ‘the Ancient One’. TSCOS, p 228
39. Italy was described as ‘Saturn’s land’ TSCOS, p 243
40. During the reign of Saturn, all things were common, no private property, no slaves, complete justice – in memory of this, at Saturnalia, slaves sat down with their masters and the rank of all was equal. TSCOS, p 245
41. Kiyyun and Sikkuth TSCOS, p 248
42. The ‘capitol’ is a reference to Jupiter. The designer wanted to call it ‘Congress House’ but Jefferson insisted on a name linked to the temple of Jupiter. TSCOS, p 259
43. On the dome of the capitol building is a fresco of the Apotheosis of Washington surrounded by pagan gods, binding symbols, freemasonry and Pythagorean mysticism. TSCOS, p 269

WILL SATURN RETURN TO EARTH IN THE LAST DAYS/FINAL BATTLE?

Author Derek Gilbert wrote in the Preface to this 2021 book, “deep in the earth, in an unimaginably dark prison, an old and powerful entity has been in chains for millennia. In this book, I call him a god because that’s how he was known to the ancient world. That’s how he and his brothers were known to our Lord. He plans to return to the earth as a god… he schemes to become ‘the’ god, replacing Yahweh as supreme in the cosmos… This is his story.”

He adds in the Introduction, “The goal of this book is to shed some light on a powerful supernatural rebel who still influences the world today. We’ll examine what the ancients believed about this entity and share some surprising examples of how he is still venerated. Technocrats and secret societies are working to bring to life what they believe is a prophecy more than two thousand years old… the Roman poet Virgil … longed for ‘a new breed of men sent down from heaven’ and ‘heroes and gods commingling,’ concepts that are not exactly Christian. They are, however, entirely consistent with the pluralistic, transhuman future envisioned by the globalists at the World Economic Forum… Astrologers, New Agers, occultists, and some of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful people believe this cosmic Great Reset began with the Great Conjunction of December 21, 2020, an event that marked a new beginning: a blessed change from the harsh, iron rule of Jupiter---and the return of old Saturn’s reign.” (Pg. 5-6)

He states, “Genesis 6:1-4… says: Angels mated with humans…. The noncanonical Book of 1 Enoch… describes this event in more detail… it names the leader of the rebellion---the entity we identify as Saturn of the Romans…. The[se] Watchers are mentioned in the Bible---just once, in the fourth chapter of Daniel [v. 13, 16-17]… they clearly have some authority over the administration of God’s creation. Obviously, this was not the same group who rebelled in the days of Jared and Enoch, so the term ‘watcher’ … appears to define a class of powerful angel, not all of whom were loyal.” (Pg. 9-11)

He continues, “1 Enoch expands on the account in the Bible… The Book of Watchers makes the case for God’s punishment of the rebellious angels. The offspring of their forbidden unions with human women drove creation to the brink of destruction. First Enoch 7:2-5 describes three generations of monstrous descendants---first ‘great giants,’ then Nephilim, and then ‘Elious’… ‘gods of glory.’ … our pre-Flood ancestors… believed that the half-divine monsters nearly drove humanity to extinction… But the transgression of the Watchers was more than just violating a taboo against interspecies sex… the other half of their plot was the dissemination of forbidden knowledge---deadly secrets that humanity was not meant to know.” (Pg. 13-15)

He suggests, “we shouldn’t be surprised by the similarities between the gods and heroes of Greece and the deities of the Amorites [such as ‘El’]… the memory of this rebellious Watcher was preserved by the human survivors of the Flood… the wonderful, magical things he and his colleagues had given to humanity went with them to Sumer… and the Levant (Mount Hermon). The move to Mesopotamia resulted in one of the most spectacular interventions by God in human history and a throne-room vision by a Hebrew prophet that is still misinterpreted as a UFO encounter to this day.” (Pg. 109-110)

He translates/interprets Isaiah 14:21 as ‘and fill the face of the world with [Watchers; (‘iyrim’)]…’ That puts a new spin on the whole chapter. Isaiah may have intended to record God’s judgment against the offspring of the rebel angels … the Watchers, and their progeny, the Nephilim… The cities/Watchers swap opens another dimension of understanding Isaiah 14 and Numbers 24, too. Obviously, we can’t substitute ‘Watchers’ for every occurrence of ‘cities’ in the Old Testament. Most of the time, ‘iyrim’ means ‘cities.’ But in the passages above, translating the word as ‘Watchers’ fits the context better…the fit is better yet if we consider that the chapter… doesn’t refer to Lucifer/Satan at all, but was directed instead at another supernatural rebel: Assur.” (Pg. 161-162)

He asserts that after his crucifixion, “Christ descended into the abyss and ‘proclaimed to the spirits in prison.’ Now, the meaning of this verse has been debated for two thousand years… Jesus didn’t preach; He straight up told the spirits, ‘This is how it’s going to be.’ … the spirits He addressed weren’t human… Jesus descended to the abyss to declare victory over the rebellious ‘sons of God,’ the Watchers,.. Then, to pour salt into their wounds, Christ rose from the dead on that mountain… Yes, Jesus Christ departed this world from the Mount of Olives.” (Pg. 201-202)

He contends, “The preachers, teachers, and theologians of the early Christian church were nearly unanimous in the belief that the gods of the Greeks and Romans were not imaginary, as most of us modern Christians assume. They… understood that the Olympians, Titans… were supernatural beings … called ‘angels, ‘Watchers’ … ‘Nephilim’… and ‘demons.’” (Pg. 211)

He summarizes, “The references in 2 Peter and Jude suggest that the Watchers, the sinful angels of Genesis 6, were the Titans, supernatural entities banished to Tartarus for their sexual transgression that produced unholy children, the Nephilim… The Watchers and/or the demon spirits of their dead children, the Rephaim/Nephilim, lured the pagan nations of the ancient world into burning their sons and daughters as sacrificial offerings to gods of the dead… God bought our freedom … by sacrificing His Son for us. It was the ultimate reversal of the evil introduced to the world at Hermon.” (Pg. 240)

He argues, “It’s widely believed by skeptics, and some … mis-informed Christians, that the date for celebrating Christmas was chosen by the early church to ‘christianize’ Saturnalia… That happens not to be the case… the first suggestion that Christmas might be linked to pagan worship didn’t come until the twelfth century… as far as historians can tell, no Christians between the third through twelfth centuries thought they were accidentally worshipping a pagan god at Christmas. While some noted the proximity of December 25 to the winter solstice… early Christian writers … chose the date … as a sign that God was the true sun, superior to the gods of the pagans…There was a widespread belief among Jews of the day… that the prophets of Israel died on the same day they were conceived. It’s not biblical, but… the early church believed it, and that’s how it was decided that Jesus was born in late December… Saturn and Saturnalia had nothing to do with it… It’s almost certain that Jesus was not born on December 25… It doesn’t matter. The important point is … The early church did not establish December 25… to copy or co-opt a pagan holiday.” (Pg. 247)

He states, “The media has consistently described the events of January 6, 2021, as insurrection, an attempted coup by ‘domestic terrorists.’ It was not. The Capitol rioters … had no agenda other than venting frustration … as Congress convened to certify the results of the contentious presidential election… [the] characterization of the Capitol as … ‘sacred space’ was echoed … across the country after January 6… Tom Horn has written at length about the occult world’s purpose for the Capitol in ‘Apollyon Rising 2012’ and … ‘Zenith 2016.’ … Tom Horn suggested… that the occult purpose of the Capitol is to facilitate the return of Osiris, the Egyptian form of Apollo. This reincarnate entity would be the Antichrist… I humbly suggest that there is another piece to this puzzle … As I argued in ‘Bad Moon Rising,’ it’s far more likely that the Son of Perdition will present himself to the world as a Jew… I believe Tom Horn is correct in identifying … Osiris, as the object of this long occult ritual. However, the Roman Osiris is not Apollo---it’s Saturn.” (Pg. 261-267)

He continues, “The art and architecture of the Capitol make a clear statement: America is politically, militarily, and … spiritually Rome. For American Christians, the implications are disturbing. Most of us have taken for granted that the pagan and occult symbols designed into … the Capitol, National Mall, and Washington Monument … were simply artistic choices… Our ignorance of those pagan symbols has led us to accept a false history that’s much more comfortable than the truth…. it’s intriguing that symbols … [of] political power in Washington DC, and Rome, are also key elements of the imagery that defines Islam. This is speculation, but is the worldwide distribution of obelisks and domes related to the return of old Saturn and his colleagues from the netherworld?” (Pg. 271-272)

He sums up, “placing Armageddon at Megiddo just doesn’t fit… a battle at Megiddo doesn’t fit the apocalyptic prophecies of Zechariah, Joel, Ezekiel, and Jesus Himself, all of whom pointed to Jerusalem as the site of the climactic battle… Make no mistake:… The final battle of the age will be fought at Jerusalem.” (Pg. 297-299) He goes on, “The supernatural entities known .. as Titans, Watchers, Anunnaki… are the things that swarm out of the abyss in Revelation 9… They’ll be allowed to torment those without the seal of God on their foreheads for five months… it will literally be hell on earth.” (Pg. 307-309) He concludes, “Saturn has escaped notice by most Christians.. Most of us don’t believe the small-g gods of the pagans even exist, [but] Saturn… not only exists, but… he’s played a much larger role in human history then you imagined…” (Pg. 329)

Even many/most Evangelicals will have doubts of some of the speculations in this book.

Gilbert's research and commentary matter

Gilbert has the Spirit of delivering divine revelation for us. For the seasoned believer, we need to move beyond milk and meat doctrine; we need bone marrow level backstory matrix to assimilate the Word for the next phase of evangelism. It will be end times evangelism. "Let the reader understand..."

Good Information

I enjoyed learning the information contained in the book. I’ve read the author’s last five books and have slowly begin to agree with is thesis. I’m about halfway there now. I’m having to chew on it slowly. This isn’t a book to be read through in a few hours. The only knock of the book is because of Derek’s writing skills need more refinement to help the reader understand and he uses too many intermittent thoughts which hinders the flow. He writes what he thinks. But all in all Derek has improved much over the last several books. His knowledge of the subject matter is outstanding. But the information is technical and difficult to assimilate and publish.

Saturn not what I thought.

I've read several of Derek's books over the years and each one has become progressively better. I did take a bit more time reading this one but this is very helpful for the times we live in and what to expect in the future. Prior to 2000 I would have never grasp the concept of the giants and the variations there, but since then it is an absolute fact from scriptures of their existence and their re-vistation. Most bible colleges stay far away from this information. Thanks Derek for all your writings and help you give to us all.

Food for thought

While reading I was captivated. I have to say that the arguments presented, some more persuasive, has me praying for clarity. This is true especially for the last chapter. As a student of Bible prophecy, I can recommend this book to enhance your knowledge of history and early culture.

I really wanted to love this book, but I found it difficult to follow due to the large cast of unfamiliar characters. I consider myself fairly savvy in this genre, so it caught me off guard. I may go back and read the first two books in the series, then revisit this one—and possibly update my rating once I have more context.

This is my first of Derek's books. I've listened to his podcast and known many people that have spoken highly of his research skills as well as writing prowess. I can say both are true. Derek has creating a fascinating case that the original rebel may well be still venerated throughout history. A ton of citations and Derek's vast knowledge make for a truly interesting read.

Definitely recommend. Goes in tandem with Unseen Realm with Michael Heiser. Also Johnathans Cahns, book, The Return of the Gods.
This concept has been around for a while though; The History of Religion: The Ancient Gods, by E O James, 1960 was covering similar parallels.
Much of it makes strong sense.

wickedness in high places

The book contains a lot of information and good guesses about the characteristics of the spiritual realm. It may be a lot more information than many people want. Still, it gives interesting background information and historical insight. Gilbert repeats a lot of the information in his other books.

Very interesting read and an eye opener. The author provides great insight and information backed up by Biblical scripture. The text also sheds light on so many events that occurred during the Old Testament with Israel and how Christ approached many aspects of His ministry here on earth.

This was more accurate than I previously thought. Definitely people are trying to bring back the old gods (aka fallen angels from the days of Noah back). They're trying to bring back Nephilim in more ways than one. There was some things I learned as well which is apparently the reason in the old testament why they wanted a kid so bad was because in that time they had a ritual were the son or daughter which would be their heir would supposedly guide them on safe passage into the afterlife. At least that was the belief held by individuals during Abraham's lifetime which was interesting. I did wind up giving this book to Goodwill but I'm glad I learned valuable information from this book and others.
