Harris Cove Billionaires #4

Omega's Tempting Fate

Rate this book
Cody wants love, but is terrified of losing a mate.

Cody's family seems to be cursed when it comes to fated mates. Both his papa and his grandmama lost their mates young, and were never the same for it. As he approaches thirty, Cody is starting to realize that he might also have a fated mate, and the thought of it terrifies him. He'd rather be a bachelor forever, than lose the man he loves.

Wes wants to change the business world, by developing software and apps that address the changing needs of the digital landscape.

Wes always wanted to prove that lighting strikes twice, and that he could be just as successful an entrepreneur as his father. Despite family money, he built his software company from the gound up, making him the second self-made billionaire in his family in as many generations. But there isn't much time to date when his work is to help other businesses thrive. Then, when the beta testers of a new app start reporting a number of bugs, he decides that it's time for him to investigate personally, so he heads to Harris Cove to find out what the problems are. There he meets his fated mate.

But why does Cody want nothing to do with Wes, and can he convince him that they're better together than apart?

This was book 4 in the "Harris Cove Billionaires" series. Omega Cody doesn't want a fated mate. Alpha Wes is a software developer who started his own company with his best friend Jordan. Cody who works for a company who manages properties while trying a new app that Wes developed begins giving him problems he doesn't know what to but file complaints when he and Wes try to do video chat it didn't go well so Wes decides to pay them a visit and they both get a surprise. Turners out they are fated mates and Cody runs. I liked both of these characters Cody was afraid to get close to Wes because of fear of losing him like his grandma and his papa. Wes who grew up rich wanted to make his own way in life and he did becoming a billionaire on his own. I also liked the secondary characters in this book. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

For sweet stories with adorable characters you can’t beat these Harris Cove Billionaires books by Lacey Daize. I just love them and save reading them for when I need something to make me smile. They’re sweet stories with very little angst.

Omega’s Tempting Fate is the fourth book in the ‘Harris Cove Billionaires’ series. It stars Cody, an omega, and Wes, an alpha and owner of a successful software company. This is told in first person from both Cody and Wes’ povs.

Ehh…

There was a LOT wrong with this one. Like, a lot. Editing, pacing, clunky writing, inconsistencies galore.. it was just not it. Which really sucked, because it could’ve been really great.

Also, why would ANYONE wear a sweater in the middle of summer in a west coast beach town?

The detail that was included was shallow, and I have no idea how to connect with the characters when everything was repeated instead of elaborated. We got it the first dozen times, I promise. Readers aren’t stupid..

Another thing I’ve noticed is, weirdly enough, the author doesn’t really put any thought into naming the characters. I’ve basically had to double take several times to remind myself I’m not reading the first series I picked up. The names are basically the same. I think this series came first, but still… just… there are big sighs all around.

I feel like I’m griping a lot, but at the same time, this novella really drove itself into the ground pretty quickly. Cody was awful, I felt bad for Wes the entire time even though I couldn’t connect with him because of the complete lack of character building, the pacing was a joke, and side characters got even less attention than normal. The inconsistency and lack of editing to combat and fix it was almost too much.

2.75/5 for this one. I’d love to see it revisited and revamped, but I doubt anyone even reads reviews anymore, so I guess—as I am so fond of saying—it just be what it be and do what it do.

If you have not read the Harris Cove Billionaires series beginning with Book 1, you are missing out on something very special. I own 2 of the 4 books plus the Bonus Story. If you really love Omegaverse stories with Omegas overcoming family pressures is what this series is know for. I've read and reviewed the other three books plus the Bonus Story. Lacey Daize is a fabulous Mpreg author. I've eagerly awaited all the HCB books in this series and her Mountain Springs series.

Being dictated by faith can be annoying for someone who believes in free will and freedom of choice. So what's an Omega with these beliefs supposed to do when he feels the pull of a fated mate? How patient will the Alpha be? What is the Omega afraid of? Can the Alpha convince him that they belong together? Once again I highly recommend the Harris Cove Billionaires series.

I loved the slow burn of this one! I think one of the things I liked the most about this book was Cody’s reluctance to even consider that he might have a fated mate. I also liked the struggle he had when his fated mate showed up unexpectedly (which resulting in him yelling “hell no!” and storming out of his office to hide in his car had me giggling). And of course I loved that Cody was so grumpy about the whole thing. I also loved that Wes was so confused and sweet and that he was trying so hard to understand what was going on. This one is getting four out of five stars!

Cody and Wes

Cody worked where his boss and him made dream vacations possible with the problems that came up. Wes’s company did an app that was supposed to help them keep track of the people needed to make run smoothly but the app kept losing appointments. He let Wes know the problems they were facing so Wes decided to see it in action, they saw each other know that they were fated mates. Cody fought it for awhile but had to give into love! Good book!

UNWILLING OMEGA

HARRIS COVE BILLIONAIRES Book 4. Cody is an Omega in the hospitality field in Harris Cove. Wes is an Alpha who is a Tech Billionaire. Having a software that doesn't quite work for the client is a big problem. Wes has a technical mind so this problem has to be solved. Meeting his just say NO fated mate is an even bigger problem. LACEY DAIZE has a way of solving all problems. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS HARRIS COVE BILLIONAIRES SERIES!!!!!

It dragged along for me.

I think, the story dragged for me because it spent too much time on Cody's fear. Wes is being patient with Cody not knowing what the problem is and he can't ask Cody's friends because they don't know.

Shoulder Shrug

It starts out slow, but then boom it's over. There are good characters, and a nice plot. But to really work, I think it needs to be longer.

I enjoyed this story right up until the last then it was ruined by ending mid sentence. Hopefully the author will become aware of this error and get it fixed. I purchased this through Amazon.

Fated mate

Cody fears for his fated mate. He has bad memories of the fated mate of his popa dying young. Wes, his fated mate, has no fear. Can they get together? You bet!

I love this series but Omega's Tempting Fate isn't my favourite book. There was something about Cody I just couldn't warm to. Oh well, into the next one!!

I felt like Cody and Wes spent too much of such a short story apart. And then fell together too quickly. And without knowing why Cody was keeping his distance from Wes, I couldn’t get on board with the unnecessary isolation and pain. And also, his reasoning didn’t make sense anyways. It felt like two coincidences and not a curse. Wes was awesome, and I loved Cody’s friendship with Theo and Correy.
