KANE : HIS TO PROTECT is the fourth instalment in Josephine Jade’s contemporary, adult HIS FOREVER dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is assassin for hire Kane Winter, and twenty-four year old, widow Danika Rich’s story line. KANE: HIS TO PROTECT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Danika and Kane) KANE: HIS TO PROTECT follows in the aftermath of the murder of Danika Rich’s husband Senator Edmond Rich. Danika needs to hire new security, and Kane Winter is the man for the job. Kane Winter is an assassin for hire, and what better way to keep an on the prize, than to be up close and personal with his next mark. What ensues is the insta-lust to love relationship between Kane and Danika, and the fall-out as secrets are revealed placing our couple in the direct line of fire.
KANE: HIS TO PROTECT is a very quick read in which a supposedly grieving and pregnant widow is instantly attracted to her hired security, security that is much more than anyone could have imaged. The premise is engaging; the romance is provocative but questionable; the characters are desperate and dangerous but saying that KANE: HIS TO PROTECT could have been so much more if the author hadn’t been in such a rush to the finish. The novella length story felt incomplete, and in juxtaposition to the other instalments in the series.
