Dad Bod Bodyguard

Rate this book
The mission is simple: keep the Senator’s daughter safe until the election’s over.
This should be a piece of cake.

As the owner of a top level protection agency, there is no one more qualified than me to play bodyguard to beautiful, bubbly Lyn Houston. In fact, guarding her body is a privilege because her curves are what dreams are made of. Soft and sweet, with extra cushion for the pushin’--

Ahem. I’m a professional.
I’m strong. Smart. Capable. But I should’ve known things wouldn’t be easy.

Plush little damsels in distress are my kryptonite.

I’m a little thick around the middle myself, but it’s never stopped me from getting what I want. Except this time, what I want is for this stubborn woman to stop making my job so difficult.

She could start by taking the threat seriously instead of running out into traffic to save kittens. She could do as she’s told, and actually lock her windows at night. Or hey, she could stop baking so many delicious cupcakes and learn some self-defense moves.

My nerves-- and waistline-- would thank her.

Instead, she drives me crazy with her sassy mouth and ability to always see the bright side of things.

If we make it to election day, it will be a miracle.
If I make it there without kissing her silly, it will be a damn sin.

Cute little read. However, I wasn't sold on the characters. I thought Harrison was kind of blah for a hero. But LYN was the kind of heroine that I hate the most and I understand that might be a me probably. I hate when authors try to make a heroine "sassy" but all they do is make them overly defensive. That's Lyn. She was awful and then all she complains about is people saying she's difficult and how it wounds her deeply. Well, guess what sweetheart. You ARE difficult. Yeah so the characters just didn't do it for me and if I could have buried the heroine in my backyard I would have.

Loved this book. Short but oh so sweet! I purchased this during the stuff your kindle days and I'm really glad I did! It's a bodyguard romance with a little smut but enough storyline to keep you going. After this one I would probably read more of the Dad Bod Bodguard series as I didn't even know there was as many as there are. Worth a read, especially as a quick pallette cleanser.

This is an OK romance, with a likable couple, but it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I knew that it was short when I decided to read it, but I needed more backstory on both Hansen and Lyn.

The couple does fall in instalove, which was a little hard to believe -- since Lyn didn't want the bodyguard her father hired. She thought her father was just being overprotective again, and not trusting her to handle her own life. There are sex scenes, but they are not overly explicit.

I did like that Hansen was a good guy, who tried really hard to resist Lyn -- since she was his client. He didn't succeed for long, but he did try.

Hansen and Lyn were both likable, but it was sad that Lyn had always felt unappreciated by her family. I was glad when Hansen immediately recognized that, and wished he could help her. He did make a mistake once, when he called her difficult -- but he honestly didn't know that her family always called her that. Once he realized, he apologized, and explained that he didn't mean what she thought.

I also really liked that Hansen wasn't the perfectly fit, chiseled male that is in most romances -- but was instead a good looking man who just happened to carry a little extra weight. I appreciate that the authors of this series understand that men (and women) don't need to have perfect bodies to be attractive.

One thing that bothers me a little about a lot of the stories in this series is the book covers (although it doesn't apply on this cover). This is just my personal opinion, and it did NOT affect my rating, but I can't stand the heavy beards on many of the men. I know they are popular right now, but I don't like beards like that. A short, nicely trimmed beard is fine -- but those huge, thick beards are just not my cup of tea.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

The couple: Hansen and Lynsie

Romance trope: bodyguard
Series: Dad Bod: Men Built for Comfort
Length: 71 pages

Plot: Lynsie's dad is a Congressman who has received some credible threats against his family. He calls in a bodyguard, Hansen, to watch over his stubborn daughter. She doesn't want anyone watching over her and feels like her father doesn't take her seriously. Hansen has his hands full taking care of Lyn and that's intensified when he falls in love.

Commentary: Neither character was particularly likeable. I wanted to like the story, but, while well-written, the characters didn't make me believe in their story. However, I do like this author, with Thick Thighs Save Lives being a favorite of mine.

Previous book in the series: Beefing with the Dad Bod
Next book in the series: Devoured by the Dad Bod

DNF- she said leetle instead of little

I like this series- its real sized people falling for real sized people. I can get past the over the topness of the romances, but when you tell me in an official security briefing that "much to his chagrin" was part of her life description, I'm gonna say no. I use that phrase all the time in some way, shape or form, so my problem is more that it feels like a fiction writer wrote the background on Lynsie. I guess they technically did though.

The other thing that really took away from it was the story tried to make it seem like she was a smart, responsible woman who was running a successful business, but when he tackled her breaking into her own bakery, where she was climbing through a window she leaves unlocked because she forgets her keys, she said she was going to use pepper spray on him, but forgot what it was called. This is all cute since he's the hero, but what if he had been an actual bad guy? Since this is thankfully a dual POV story, her chapter was next and in like the second paragraph she said leetle instead of little. I get that's how she was pronouncing it in her head, but it made her seem more ditzy to me. So I bowed out shortly after. I hope it was as cute as I hoped it would be.

A beautiful love story

I really enjoyed this book. It has family, friends, misunderstandings, caring and love. Lynsie is a senator's daughter who lives life her way. She owns a popular bakery and everyone loves her. Her father hired a bodyguard, Hansen, until the current election is over. He had been experiencing strong threats against him and his family. It was fun how Lynsie and Hansen met (you'll have to read the book to find out). She's like a breath of fresh air, while he's stoic but loveable. She has a word that when she hears it, it throws so many doubts in her mind. She feeds the ducks, love cats and after closing of the bakery drives all over the city to deliver unsold goods to shelters. Read what they go through. I think it's a really good book and hope you will enjoy it too. Written by Cindy :)

When I first heard that there was a group of authors setting out to write a whole series based on hefty heroes. I was beyond excited!
I mean I'm all for a hero is doesn't have the 6-12 pack abs. The one who is like a giant teddy bear and can be cuddled with and keep you nice and warm on those cold nights ;)

This one was okay. It's not one that I just absolutely loved.
I liked the story okay, but I absolutely hated the female main character. Lyn is described as being "sassy" but she's not sassy. She's extra defensive which while reading comes across at bitchy for me. She doesn't take the threat seriously when confronted by Harrison or her father when she finally calls him to confront him. She whines and complains that people call her difficult...and yet she's a grown woman calling and whining to her dad about him protecting her...Yeah sweetheart you're being difficult.

Lynsie’s father is a Senator running for re-election. Although, with the climate these days, everyone is on edge. Cause those cause problems to stand out more, and taking their threat, seriously for their safety, and those of their family.

With this in mind, Lynsie’s father hires, Hansen. She is not happy, and not standing for it. Phoning Daddy, and the sexy bodyguard, standing by her. She tells Daddy, about the misunderstanding.

While she understands the need, she doesn't like it. But at this moment, she hears something disturbing. Something in her dad’s voice, she’s never heard before. It is, fear. She knows when she must pull back. This is one of those moments when she, feels she needs, to protect her family.

Hensen seems, to be the man for, the job. However, he also feels like the one man, that could get past all her walls, of protection. Fast funny story of instalove

DAD BOD BODYGUARD is an engaging romance with a touch of exciting drama and steamy passion that is sure to check off all the boxes. The chemistry between Lynsie and Hansen practically jumps right off the page. But it’s not only their chemistry that’s appealing but the inherent respect Hansen has for Lynsie from the very beginning. He really sees her for who she is. Lynsie’s inner strength and sassy but large heart play well against Hansen’s strong, dominate yet deep-down caring persona. This is a story that is entertaining, a delight to read, and sure to charm your socks off. 😉

Lynsie is a bakery owner/congressman's daughter who is under threat and Hansen is her new bodyguard.

It's a short story so it doesn't have lots of time for complex character and story development but I think it does an OK job. Because it's short, there's not tons of time to fall in love with the characters and get to know them well enough but equally, if you're looking for something that's a bit more than insta love with a little suspense, this would be good. 3.5 stars for me as if this had been longer with more character/story development, I think I'd have really enjoyed it.

'Hoooly hot man on top of me'

I love Lynsie, she is quirky, funny, sassy, a goddess in the kitchen and she owns her curves proudly, it's no wonder Hanson lost his breath, his mind and his heart the moment he saw her.
Together they are a naughty treat, sweet but not sickly, a novella that is the perfect accompaniment to that cupcake you are craving!
One of the best in the series, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Cupcake ~

I enjoyed reading this story. I liked his seriousness and her sass. I enjoyed that she got him all flustered, while he was subtly letting her know what she meant to him. I really liked that what they thought they knew about each other, didn’t stop them from learning about each other. It’s the size of the heart that matters, not the size of a waist. I enjoyed the ending, it was just as sweet as they were.

Tackle and Grapple Love

Lynsie is convinced that her politician father’s precautions are over-blown, especially after Hansen, the precautionary measure, tackles her prior to their introduction. They have a great chemistry while trying to maintain their boundaries, keeping things professional, and Lyn, safe. Two adults in an adult relationship is a nice change from the typical ingenue-older sage trope.

YALL HDHSH please do not judge me for reading this i got it for free on stuff your kindle day & didn’t realize it was only 71 pages long. i think it had potential if it wasn’t so short but i am just giggling that it took me 30 minutes to finish this book where they “fall for each other.” HOW? y’all knew each other for less than a week? HDHSHS this was so silly

Quick read, a little angsty and a lot of tension. Enjoyable but the plot jumps very quickly from one scene to another and I feel like we know a lot more about her life than about him, his only purpose is to be there for her and that's it.

Very short which leaves no room for character development. It wasn’t bad but felt very rushed and like there was a lot missing from the story. So maybe short novels aren’t for me. It was free so I can’t complain.

A cute little story

The characters were well written it's a narrative book. It was a short short story which I was able to enjoy I just didn't feel a connection with it but I think the author with the writing made the characters seem realistic.

Forever

When Hansen meets Lynsie he can see forever with her. He knows he has to keep it professional though. Can he have love and protect her at the same time?
