When Hassan Gardner was born during a full moon in October, his pro-Black father told his mother he would change the world. Despite being uniquely different from kids his age, Hassan fits in and is well loved by everyone... with one huge exception to that. Still, coming to terms with who, or possibly what he is, Hassan is forced to hide his rather unique abilities as well as, him or it. In this unique, supernatural, two-part novelette, Hassan will discover whether he is just a little boy with a huge imagination, or something else with supernatural abilities and a preplanned destiny or purpose.
The Libra was an interesting work of fiction written by Antia Banner. It discusses the life of a young Black boy's struggle with a monster he faces on a daily basis. However, there was not enough information to label this as a novel since it is only a short story of 75 pages. The conclusion leaves you hanging waiting for Part 2 which has not been published yet. I would not have purchased this book as I don't generally read short stories, but as a Goodreads winner on my Kindle, it was quite interesting. Thank you, GOODREADS for the opportunity to read this short Kindle story.
I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway. It is a beautiful story centered around Hassan, a brilliant young man from a family torn apart. It is a beautiful and mysterious story. Well worth a read!
This is only a part one...not an entire book.i thought it was thought provoking and flowed well. The style reminded me of Neil gaiman . I hope to finish this amazing tale. It also reminds me of the yellow demon of supernatural.
A short story that starts off strong and stays entertaining until the end of the story. This is a great start to a new series. A thrill read that made me want to read more and learn more about this new world.

American author Antia Banner is best known for her Vampira novels but the terror here is of a different kind. The Gardners are black and poor but very very proud, living in a New Jersey town which is predominantly black but riddled with white crime. From the moment of his birth, under a full moon, Hassan is different. He sees and hears things that no-one else does. His night terrors come every night and sleep becomes his enemy. The author explores what it is to be different in a world full of stereotypes through glimpses of a dark, supernatural entity
This book needed another pass through the proofreader's hands before being published. The lack of editing was very distracting. The writing was very basic. I suspect (but didn't confirm) that this is a first novel.
That being said, it was a fairly good tale if a bit 'ghost story' for my liking.
I received a copy of this ebook in a Goodreads giveaway. This isn’t the type of thing I would usually read but it kept me intrigued and interested the whole time.
This book is a fun, quick read. Hassan is a popular student whom all the girls in class adore. He’s smart and kind and seems to have it all. He even has the gift to hear other people’s thoughts. But Hassan also has a darkness that torments him, leaving him battered and confused. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next book to come out!
