Staff Sergeant Henry Wells feels like he's seen it all. When he finds himself sitting on a month of leave after his latest deployment, the Green Beret spends it in the Montana badlands with his brother. He hasn't seen his paleontologist brother in years, but digging up old bones and cooking for grad students seems like a welcome break from the endless training and chaos of his last ten years.
Little does he know six objects entered the solar system. Their target is Earth. Massive cylinders fill the sky. Landing ships race towards the ground, and one is heading towards Montana.
For millions of years ago, the rocky crags didn't exist. Shoreline ran as far as the eye could see. The Earth's original masters are returning, and they are troubled to see their Homeworld Occupied.
If you want battles and conflict, fighting, weapons discussions and minor political intrigue then this series might be right for you. It’s not what I expected and I stayed with it as long as I could but the storyline never pulled me in and the continued conflicts did not interest me.
Interesting premise, but just absolutely falls apart the second the author has insanely unrealistic human reactions to first contact with aliens. This book pulled me in and then just made me angry.
Huge city sized alien ships showing up over earth, come on guys get back to work digging for Dinosaur bones, get off your phones. Like what? Aliens have the ability to communicate in our languages but don't for some reason and then China has the only human reaction to being invaded by attacking the ships invading them, and then everyone blames the Chinese for the aliens wiping multiple Chinese cities off the map, basically saying they deserved it. Wut? Aliens land and then go door to door introducing themselves to homeowners and have casual conversations and the humans all are just chill with it. Absolutely no military response to being invaded by aliens, no deployment of national guard, no armed response, just chilling and waiting to see what they do. I get the impression that the author is vehemently anti human and wants us to sympathize with the aliens, because that is the only reason what he wrote would make any sense. In all versions of reality, huge alien ships landing would result in an immediate military response, at least to surround the site of the landing. They aren't just gonna let aliens wander off everywhere they want.
It's clear this author lives in the woods and doesn't interact with humans at all. He has absolutely no idea what human nature is like and how humans would react to extreme situations. It frankly ruins the book.
This is basically like Red Dawn but written by a communist. So anyone who resists the invasion is a "red neck" and the invaders are the good guys. Garbage.
Edit: OK I hate this book. He so desperately wants us to sympathize with the stupid dinosaur aliens that he has written every person like a traitor to humanity. It's so stupid that I can tell the authors politics by how much disdain he has for the USA and humanity in general. There is absolutely no attempt by anyone in the USA other than "redneck militias" to resist an invasion by aliens. Like wtf? That is less realistic than actual space alien dinosaurs. He has the Secretary of State voluntarily handing over the nations nuclear weapons to Dinosaur invaders because they said they didn't feel safe. This is during the first meeting between Dino invaders and the US government. The US governments opening move was to give away access to it's nuclear arsenal. That's the level of writing you are dealing with in this book, absolute braindead nonsense. This is the dumbest shit I've ever read.
Edit 2: He has a Green Beret stamp his foot when he is upset like a pre-teen girl whose has her phone taken away. This author is horrible.
I can only listen to this audiobook in like 10 or 1t minute segments before I get too mad to continue and I have to pause it for a while. This author is like a teenager writing about world politics, completely uninformed and just a waste of time.

I like this book, it holds potential for an interesting plot to develop. Its different from other first contact/invasion stories and I have enjoyed the characters and interactions between aliens and humans. It lost a star because I don’t think only one small observatory would have spotted 6 humongous ships out at Jupiter, and that the employees of this observatory would be advisors to the US president. And it could have been edited a little better. But otherwise I’m certainly moving on to the next book.
Wow! This was a joy to read, the concept with dinosaurs returning to earth in generation ships and how it impacts us humans was really interesting. Love the Henry character and later in Krek! Really good character arcs and side stories as well. This is by far my new favorite series!
Great SciFi premise and relatable characters (humans and ‘dinosaurs’ alike). I was so taken in by the story that I burned through the book very quickly! In a word: enjoyable!
This was a good book to read fast and entertaining. I enjoyed the characters in the way the author had them grow with the book. I neat premise on the dinosaurs.
You are taken on strange journey that will involve the Earth and being invaded from space by another race of people. The author did s great job with the book and keep you wanting to read more.
Great character development for both human and alien. Lots of action including human, alien, and joint human-alien action sequences. Storyline includes both perspectives, again great writing.
Had few moments when I thought it was going down the wrong rabbit hole, but I finished the book in one day and I am looking forward to the reading the next one.
