every now and again you come across a story telling that just grabs you by the proverbials and you know you will not be happy until the story is completed. yet on the other hand, like all good things you do not want it to come to an end...
the Author introduces us to a new way of telling a paranormal story. in this case of fallen angels, angels, demons where nothing is straight forward and there is good and bad in every race. this books introduces us to Zane who turns out to be a wronged angel, sent to earth and his memory swiped. in steps Damaceous and we are on a right roller coaster of emotions. Demons turn out to be good(ish) and angels turn out not to be good (definitely no ish) we see sub or main characters being killed off and heart ache ensuing.
you know that as a reader you are in for a treat, disappointment, highs and lows, excitement and an image of hot hot men in love with men. a dream.
It presented a great story with interesting twists and turns. The different threads come together nicely into a succinct plot that is enjoyable to read and makes you keep flipping the pages. The character development is intriguing enough to make you look forward to the next book in the planned series.
I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it and then the next thing I did was track down the next volume. I was completely captivated by the whole thing. I loved the originality of the concept the well plotted story line and the characters. I also like that she wasn’t afraid to kill off one of her main supporting characters when the storyline called for it. In other words I loved everything about it.
The author did a great job in introducing the characters and I'm definitely interested how will the story progress from now on. I enjoyed the book a 100%.
Fallen Virtue by R.J. Benson is a captivating book since the very beginning. I believe this is the first book in the series so I will definitely wait for the sequel. I recommend.
I don't generally read paranormal or fantasy, though I have. If you throw in m/m romance into the mix, sign me up! This one in particular is about demons and angels. With that said, I wasn't really sure what to expect in this story, but I can tell you it was a non-stop fun ride full of interesting characters. It was fast-paced, full of surprising betrayals and surprising friendships.
There were a few steamy scenes in the story with two separate relationships, but it wasn't really a big part of the story. And while the MC was quite cute and interesting, Sinohne, the demon, was my favorite character in the book.
Positives: Fun, non-stop read full of action and colorful characters. Well-written and the written personalities of each character were clear.
It was just shy of a 5 star because 1) I wish Zane, the MC, had a freak-out moment a bit when he learned the truth of what he was. He was slightly cavalier about it all. 2) I knew this was going to land on a cliff-hanger. I expected it, but it ended a bit too abruptly. Other than those two things, the book was a fun ride and I look forward to book 2!
What draws me in to a story line the most, is when the author can capture my attention immediately, and carry my interest all the way to the end. Leaving a desire for even more. This is what 'Fallen Virtue' does. I believe the exact thing I said when I closed the ending page was, "where is the next one?" I cannot wait for this series to come out with more titles. RJ Benson captures your attention and the storyline, your entire senses. A must-read for fantasy readers, especially those who like a little romance and risk. Five stars of pure literary recommendation!
𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘: Fallen Virtue penned by the author RJ Benson is the first installment in 'Of Beasts and Buzzards' book series.
It is a captivating story that hooked my attention from the first page itself. High demonic activity is going on in the area. Humans and their souls are going missing faster. After some investigation, Damaceous discovered the club. When Damaceous realised he should go, it was already late. He was caught by the yellow demon's eyed creatures. The lead singer of the band Zane would catch the reader's attention often in the story. Zane told Damaceous that he can't deceive the master and the first rule of the master is "No Buzzards".
Plot of the story is intriguing. The twists and turns in the story made it more interesting. Characters are written nicely by the author. I appreciate the vivid author's imagination in creating this fantasy world. The story is gripping and it will keep you on the edge of your seat. You can't put it down till the last page.
Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is an interesting book for the most part. There were several times times I did not think I would finish reading it. The author jumps timelines and it is a bit confusing. But I am glad I finished it. This book is about Zane a fallen Angel and another Angel, Damaceous who is an investigator from Heaven. Someone is harvesting the souls of humans and angels. Damaceous is trying to find out what is happening and stumbles upon Zane who believes himself to be regular human. Zane and Damoceous get to know each other and they both learn more about Zane’s past. This books gives a new twist about angels and demons.
What a great start to a new series. Zane plays at a club in Cincinnati with no memories of his past. When up on stage, he sees someone in the audience and goes and sings and dances with him. Damaceous is an angel who has been tasked by his general to find out what has been happening with missing souls. As the story continues, we find out who Zane really is and who the baddies are. I cannot wait to read book 2 as the story will continue.
It took me a while to get into the book, but I’m glad I pushed through. IMO, the book really took off about 3/4 of the way through the story when . By then I was engaged enough to want to continue the series. Until that point I wasn’t sure I would continue.
Fallen Virtue is a story filled with everything I look for as a reader; action, romance, comedy, heartbreak, and gut-wrenching twists that keep the pages turning until the end.
