Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.
I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.
I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.
My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.
I realize that a lot of Kindle readers read these books for free but c'mon folks. Any book should be well edited and grammatically correct. Even an elementary student knows that the President of the United States is ALWAYS capitalized. Sloppy errors and poor editing distract from the plot and shows serious disrespect for electronic readers. It probably will be the last book I read from this duo.
Once again, these two authors have outdone themselves. Survival is the main thing here. How will they manage it. Binge reading to find out what happens. Need the next for sure.
Thanks for the prologue and the action continues in this book. I'm still not liking that the military seems to be portrayed in such a universally bad light. An apparent death in the second half bothered me so much that I had to stop reading for a while. There were a few editing issues but I am interested to see what happens.
Mike Kraus has hit his stride with this book and series. Kenny Soward is credited as a coauthor.
Book 4 in this series is very exciting and compelling to read. This one was well-edited, a very much appreciated improvement over books 1-3.
I repeat my earlier opinion: The authors should take this Kindle series and expand it into a full-length novel. With additional room to delve into the details of this post-disaster scenario, this series could become the next Ender's Game.
Personally, I would like to see more details on how people adapt to this mega-earthquake scenario. >> How do workers keep natural gas lines operational through an earthquake? How do they adapt and overcome? >> How do road maintenance teams find raw materials to make repairs, once supplies chain break down? What improvisations are necessary?
A minor quibble: the geography of Vandenberg AFB is far different than portrayed in this book It's an immense, sprawling base with multiple facilities and centers. >> I would guess the variances from reality were driven by plot needs.
Just my usual binge reading of engrossing story lines to see IF and how the main characters survive in the midst of a neverending apocalypse! Just when you can take a breath because things might be stable, another horrible person or event happens to keep the characters in defense battle mode. Then, we are left with MAJOR cliffhangers and no evident plan to continue the series??!! Huh? It says, "Book 4 of 4!" I sure hope not, because these are not run-of-the-mill apocalyptic stories or writers. OK, we know we won't get the warm-and-fuzzy happy endings, but some kind of reuniting and closure would be appreciated. Come on, guys!
Book 4 continuing saga of apocalyptic times by Mike Kraus and Kenny Soward.
More disasters across the US and around the world. Pam and children fighting to get to the cabin. Where is Ben and other family members . So many died and are dying with almost no help from the government. Lawlessness everywhere and it will get plenty worse as food and shelter are gone. Volcanic eruptions, fire as well as earthquakes make things worse. Can't wait for book 5.
I’m hoping this is not the final book in this series. This book was a thrill ride for sure, I didn’t want to put it down. The characters have been through so much, and now volcanoes enter the mix. Some great writing thanks guys. I’m off to read another series of your books. Thanks for always keeping us reading.
Unlike many post-apocalyptic stories this one is a very realistic slow catastrophe where the various characters are all adapting to the ongoing and increasingly challenging situations they find themselves in. Extremely well crafted and entertaining. Five stars for sure!
I cannot wait for book 5 to come out. This adventure is both terrifying and exciting ! I've loved this series from the very first page of book one. Please, please, write faster. Thank you very much for your fantastic reads!
As the Willard and their loved ones fight for survival in a world thrown into chaos by the earth itself. Facing the growing threat of volcanic activity they must struggle to reunite.
This book kept me hanging on to the edge of my chair, not wanting each page to be the last. I learned a lot about human nature when faced with disaster. I'm very pleased that I found this series!
Oh no. Wow. People are getting together and fighting everyone who’s a in a uniform of sorts, government officials, police, military, hospital staff. Everyone being sought and killed.
Kraus and Soward have created a really scary future for us.
Scary future is a very polite way of saying the world is screwed under their scenario. If 10.0 plus earthquakes were not enough, the ring of fire awakening should certainly do mankind in.
I'm really enjoying the steady pace, i like the fallible characters who do get hurt, scarred, grieve and rage. A good job putting the reader into the story.
