Just as juicy as the first book in the series, with lots of sweet and spicy moments. But OH MY DAYS! The twists and angst in this one really got me. From the first book I'd hedged my bets and thought "no, I won't like Gabriel as much as Julian." Boy was I wrong! Lyra writes men and women so well, making sure they all feel very realistic and believable. I loved this. Once again, I cannot wait for the next one!
Gabriel (The Rivera Brothers #2) by Lyra Blake ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the second installment of the Lyra's debut series and it just keeps getting better! Lyra kept bringing us the corporate universe, but unlike Julian, Gabriel is a little bit less absorbed in work, although he still is an extremely competent fellow.
This story begins a little bit after Julian's story ends. After what happened at Atabey Industries, the brothers notice that they have to change many things on their policies to protect the company and its employees, so they decide to hire Miss Jane Jackson, whose job is to completely rebuild the HR department. However, Gabriel wasn't expecting Jane to be such an uptight and irritating woman. Jane wasn't expecting him to be a carefree kind of guy. She likes order, and Gabriel is the opposite of order.
They instantly hate each other, and their banter is hilarious! Gabriel is the perfect characterization of how my mind works. He's constantly asking himself why he opened his mouth in first place.. Just like me, he doesn't need anyone's help to say something stupid, he just goes and says it. However, they need to find a common ground and work together when a little surprise turns their world upside down.
Ok, this story is super sweet. I'm pretty sure I became diabetic at the end of the book because of how much sweetness was included in this story. Gabriel and Jane, after they passed through their hate-each-other's-guts phase, are a lovely couple even though they kept bantering in every single step of the way... It's just the way they are!
So, if you're looking for your next book-boyfriend, you found him!

This book was kindly sent to me in exchange for my honest opinion. Oh BABY. This book! I already knew I would love it when I fell in love with Gabriel in the first chapter of the first book. And I was not wrong! I like that the story started where Julian's ended, rather than coinciding. It makes it seem like we didn't miss a single minute of their stories. I loved the chemistry between Gabriel and Jane! They were perfect to me!
