Ever since my divorce became final, I decided to start putting myself first. The problem is when I think of putting myself first, I think of my son’s biological father, Thatcher Patterson. The man that wanted nothing to do with me when he found out I was pregnant. When he left me, he took my heart with him and I’ve never gotten it back.
Suddenly my son and I are forced to live with Thatcher indefinitely and it’s difficult to remember all the reasons why I don’t trust him. The way he looks at me, the way he is with our son and the way he makes me feel are all the reasons I’m running toward him instead of away from him.
But if I run toward him, how long will it take for him to up and run the other way from us, much like he did before?
I’ve never stopped loving Abigail Murphy or wishing I could be the perfect dad to my son. So, when a stipulation in my late grandfather’s will states that I must have an heir to claim my inheritance, it’s the push I need to get them in my life.
Because I need them as much as I need that money. With my business in the red, I have no other option. As the deadline creeps closer, I never counted on the guilt I would feel at trying to get a two for one deal. When the two of them move in with me, I’m reminded of all the wonderful things this woman has to offer and all the emotions she makes me feel.
She makes me feel worthy. Wanted. Loved. She makes me feel like I could be the man she needs and just maybe I could be the father my son deserves – the father I’ve been so afraid to be.
Ashley Davenport was born and raised in Colorado, and although she doesn’t always live there, she’ll always be a Coloradoan at heart. Ashley loves collecting vintage PYREX (if you have pink or turquoise call her), exploring the great outdoors, and traveling to every Disney Resort possible. When she’s not writing or on an adventure, she stays busy daydreaming about the hot men she writes about in her novels.
A "romance" where the hero abandons the heroine because she's pregnant with his child? He only wants them when his inheritance requires he have an heir?Say what? Go fuck yourself =)
Wild is the second book in the Love in Lone Star series by Ashley Bostock. It is a second chance at love/contemporary romance that is a slow burning, heart-warming, emotional and erotic love story. I read Wet, the first book in this series and loved it- I knew I had to read this one ASAP, so I got it sight unseen. I read the blurb and knew the characters, Abigail and Thatcher, whose story I would be reading, because they appear as secondary characters in the first book. I was intrigued by both of them, in Wet, so I was curious to find out more about them in this book. But, I have to be honest, after finding out a little more about Thatcher early on in this book, I wasn’t sure I could like him, I was quite disappointed in him and his choices. But as the story unfolded, I came to understand what drove him to the choices he made, but I was still a little miffed at him. But, Ms. Bostock managed to win me over as she wove her clever and captivating read and proved yet again why I enjoy her stories so much. Even though It took me a little while before I could truly connect to the characters and their story (because I was so disappointed with Thatcher), I still think the characters are really well written, fully developed and believable. They really were complex character’s, whose various layers and intricacies are revealed as the story evolves. A worthy addition to a wonderful series. I can’t wait to get my hands on book three.
Thatcher the douche, had his best friend marry Abby, the woman he loved and got pregnant, instead of taking responsibility for it himself. And yes, there are more things revealed as the story went on, but for me, I'm still pissed at Thatcher, no matter how he spins it. What was the craziest to me is that neither got over each other, not to mention, not wanting to be the main part of your child's life. Now Abby and Adrian are getting a divorce as they were only best friends, and he met someone else. Things quickly take a left turn, and the circumstances have Abby staying with Thatcher, and she's still holding on to some resentment, which I don't blame her one bit. Then a huge twist throat punched me, and I wanted to absolutely KILL THATCHER, and honestly, not over it even now., as I'm still dropping loud f-bombs everywhere. So I can't help but state that Ashley Bostock has a talented writing style as my emotions are high all over the place, and I feel like I was there in person. I'm not sure any of this review made any sense, but read the book, and then you will completely understand where I'm coming from. In conclusion to this rant, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Wild, especially if you love books that ignite serious dramatic emotions!
I loved this second chance romance! Thatcher and Abby had so much chemistry between them and you could tell their love never went away even after 5 years.
This book had everything: hot steamy scenes, cute adorable Thayer, drama, and even some suspense.
I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this book. I could feel the pain that Abby felt and her need to be cautious around Thatcher.
Thatcher had his reasons for leaving Abby and he sure was able to show her how much he’s regretted that decision.
Thatcher’s grandfather is a sneaky old guy. It sort of reminded me of The Ultimate Gift. Thatcher definitely learned the lesson his grandfather was hoping he would.
(I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review)
Eh... So, I appreciated that this dual POV had a definitive southern voice, fitting for its setting in Texas. And I was really hopeful given the premise, but there were a few plot twists/points that I just found troublesome. Like, when the female lead, Abby, got pregnant by the male lead, Thatcher, he convinced her and their mutual friend Adrian to get married instead of him taking responsibility for her and their child. Then right around when that marriage falls apart, Thatcher finds out about a contingency in his grandfather's will that calls for him to have an heir in order to receive his inheritance. So after five years of not being involved in Abby or their son's lives, he decides to jump in the deep end and even considers petitioning the court for custody in order to claim his inheritance and save his ailing business. I tried to like the book and the characters, but there was just something about the story that I could not connect with. I did finish the book - once I was in it I had to see how it ended. But there were so many times I sort of wanted to give up and DNF it. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't for me. So I guess I give it 2.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 2) by Ashley Bostock is the second story in her Love in Lone Star series. This is a stand alone story but I highly suggest reading the first book as some of the characters will pop in to see you in this book too. It will give you some of the background information to help the story flow together. I enjoy seeing characters from previous books in the current installment of the series. It is exciting to see what happened to them. I enjoy this author's attention to detail and her ability to write a contemporary romance novel. Her characters are true to life and connectable. They have a way of just popping right off the page and keeping you engaged until the last page. You will enjoy the roller coaster ride of emotions that they will take you on. Find out what happens to this couple as they start their journey of finding their family and what is important to them.
Abigail Murphy has decided to put herself first since her divorce became final. Her problem with this is that when she thinks of putting herself first she thinks of her son's father, Thatcher Patterson. He wanted nothing to do with her when he found out that she was going to have a baby. He took her heart with him when he left and she hasn't gotten it back yet. When a situation occurs and she and her son are forced to live with him, what will she do? It is hard for her to remember the reasons she can't stand him. Every time she looks into his eyes, see him the way he is with their son, she forgets she is running away from him instead of running to him. If she gives him the chance, will he up and leave them again? Can she trust him not to hurt her?
Thatcher Patterson has never stopped loving her or wanting to have their son in his life. But when his grandfather pulled a fast one and left a stipulation in his will, what will he do? He must have an heir so this gives him the perfect opportunity to do what he has always wanted, put them back into his life. He feels that he has no other option, with his business in the red. When they move in he is reminded all of the good things she is made up of. She makes him feel things he hasn't felt in awhile, wanted, loved, worthy.
Abigail and Thatcher have a past and a child in common. She is just so broken because he was not willing to accept their baby. When he left, it crushed her. Will they be able to rebuild their relationship? Will they have a future together? When they start opening up to each other, will they realize that they still have feelings for each other? In my opinion they are both insecure about this relationship. He has some secrets and she is just plain afraid that he is going to leave again. They are strong characters that really do complete each other. The attraction is here from the beginning but will they act on it is the question. They will take you on a couple of twists and turns that you wont want to miss. They are just sweet and lovable characters. I can't wait to see who will be next in her books. Find out what happens to these characters. Will they ever find their HEA?
This is my second book by Ashley Bostock and I know it won't be the last. Ashley grew up in Colorado and still lives there. When she is not writing, you can find her reading, traveling in a wanderlust's eyes, but to those who have not traveled so, she has traveled far. You will enjoy how she will keep you on the edge of your seat through most of this book. This is a fast paced story that will keep you engaged until the end. You will need to see what happens to these characters. I highly suggest this story as I know you will want to see what happened.
Wild is book 2 in the Love in Lone Star Series, from author Ashley Bostock and my second book from this author. I can’t wait to see what else she brings to this series and who’s story we will follow next.
This was another great book that was added to this series, that I know will continue to get stronger with each book added along the way. This book did have some mixed reviews due to a character’s choice that they made, but reading this story you get to finally understand the reasons why and what really happened. I still thought this book deserved a chance and knew that it stood a chance of being a captivating and great book like the previous, and I was glad I got the chance to read it and understand the story and the reasons and choices of the characters within this book. PLEASE don’t be put of by this synopsis.
This book had various themes throughout it from love, heartache, life changing events and mystery, but this book also had a great deal of emotions from the characters that as the reader I could truly feel, such as; love, passion and heartache, sadness, loneliness and anger. I’ve laughed, smiled, been sad, and even a few tears. This book had some great scenes between the two main characters Thatcher and Abby and I loved reading their interactions with each other. You could immediately tell that what these two characters had is real, long overdue they have an undeniable connection that was passionate and sexy. They quickly fell into each other’s traps of not falling for each other, but it was like breathing with the two of them, they immediately felt like they could breathe when together, as though a weight had been lifted and they were where they belonged. I also liked the slow yet quick connection Thatcher made with Thayer, for someone who was so unsure of being a father, I think he steps into the role pretty good,
This book did have some difficult decisions in which I think the characters could have done a bit differently, but none of the less this made the story what it was. I was pretty gutted where it ended, even though we got a HEA it felt like a sudden end, I’d have loved to have seen what happened between Thatcher and Thayer after the end of the book events. I also would have liked more coverage of the main issue that was in this book, the issue seemed to have happened and never really fully dealt with or looked into further.
This book also has some great secondary characters that I’d love to read about their story, and if they find love, especially Thatcher’s sister Grace and best friend Cap. These two have a story whether together or separate, that I’d love to read! Another great thing with this book is that it was written in dual POV’s. I love reading it from the characters POV’s as we get to really see their thoughts and feeling from them rather than the other person. I also think it helps connect with a character as you get to understand some of their reasons of their actions!
These two have an undeniable connection that is sizzling from the start. History and a past may cause them to fight what you can tell is undeniable but I’m glad that Abby took the chance to realise together is where they belong, and continues to help Thatcher overcome the insecurities that have ruled his life.
This is a great story of love, second chances, family and new starts. This isn’t one to miss and I am looking forward to reading Book 3 Wicked.
Thatcher thought he was doing the right thing 5 years ago, having his best friend marry the woman he loved and got pregnant. He gave no reason, but the reasons surface later on in the book. Reasons he avoided giving Abby as long as he could. They live in a tiny town, Thatcher owns the feed store and one day Abby comes in with their son Thayer who is 4 looking for a suitable home for his turtle. Any one with eyes could see that Thatcher was Thayer's father. He was good with the boy and Abby was polite. Other than this these two avoided seeing each other for the last 5 years. He never got over Abby nor she him. That day when she got home her divorce papers were in the mail. She and Adrian had quietly decided to divorce. They were best friends, not husband and wife. No sex, no love. Just a dad for Thayer and living with a friend. Adrian had met someone and she didn't want to hold him back and so together they made the decision. Adrian must have been a hell of a guy and a damn good friend. When Abby's house burns down circumstances are such that Adrian is out of town, Thatcher doesn't know about the divorce and she and Thayer agree to stay the night at Thatcher's. Her mom's house is under renovation and she has no room. Her mom keeps telling Abby to give Thatcher a chance. But Abby has been carrying a lot for the last 5 years. It's not so easy just to let the man who pawned off his pregnant girlfriend and child on his buddy. Then enter the twist in the story, when Thatcher's grandfather died he inherited half the estate. The other half to be inherited he later finds out when Thatchers claims custody of his heir. So Thatch's wheels are turning. One of his three stores isn't doing well and he needs the money. Can he take Abby to court to get custody of Thayer. Especially now that their living together and things are settling into a little normal pattern and Abby is beginning to trust him. Still holds back but the sparks between these two are crazy. Meanwhile there's another fire in town and then another. Thatcher decides to close the store that isn't doing well. All goes well until Abby finds the papers from the estate on the counter at the store. She totally loses her shit, as she well should have and walks out. When Thatcher comes home they are gone. Not one speck of them left behind. So what happens to these two? Who is starting the fires? What about Thayer? All these and more answered in the book. The operative for me was really what kind of man surrenders the woman he professes to love and is pregnant as a deal with his best friend?? Seriously!! There were many times I wanted to yank Thatcher by the collar and give him a good shake. The man child acted like a 12 year old, sadly he knew that. Abby I liked, glad when she jerked him a new one. I thought it was great everyone in town knew Thayer was his kid and he didn't know it. Just goes to show you. So my end take was that Abby was going to have to raise two boys. Shakes head. That's a wrap.

Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 2) By: Ashley Bostock 5 out of 5 stars
The story Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 2) by Ashley Bostock is a new adult/contemporary romance book. Abigail Murphy is a woman whose divorce has recently become final. She is determined to put herself first and also take care of the son who she loves with all her heart. The only problem is that when she thinks about moving ahead she starts to think about her son’s biological father, Thatcher Patterson. The man that left when she became pregnant and took her heart with him. Now a situation has arisen where she is forced to live with Thatcher indefinitely. She begins to wonder if they could make things work or would Thatcher just leave again the way he did last time? Thatcher had his reasons for leaving Abigail back when she became pregnant. What he didn’t expect is the longing to be a father to his son and wanting to have Abigail to hold forever. What does the future hold for this couple? Could they possibly get a second chance to have the life that they want together or will secrets that Thatcher is keeping crush any trust that may have been gained between them?
I absolutely loved reading this book! It is a story that touched my heart and had me rooting for Thatcher and Abigail to find their way to a happy ending. The past looms large over this couple and hurt feelings stand in the way of going forward. Then this couple begins to open up to each other and find that their feelings toward each other are still mutual and very strong. This leads to some very steamy love scenes. Old fears are still present and if they are not careful could lead to this relationship being crushed again. Will Thatcher make sure that he is completely honest with Abigail? Will the past repeat itself? It was very heartwarming to read about how Thatcher, Abigail, and their son live together and function as a family. While this story is primarily about Thatcher and Abigail there are also situations that are happening in the town that could turn dangerous and have to be addressed.
This is the second book in the Love in Lone Star series and I can’t wait to read the next one. While each story is about a couple there are overlapping characters that show up from one book to the next. This is a small town and everyone always knows what is going on. Don’t ever believe that a secret can be kept for long. The author has created a story that had me quickly turning pages to find out what happens. I have fallen in love with the characters she has created and can’t wait to read about the next couple. Read this book to find out if Thatcher and Abigail finally get their HEA! This story does include adult language and adult situations. The relationship between Thatcher and Abigail is red hot and very steamy. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.
Wild: A Small Town Romance is book 2 in Ashley Bostock’s Love In Lone Star series and can be read as a standalone.
“You mark my words Abigail Layne, Thatcher gave you up for a damned good reason and I know, I just know, that he’s more of a hero than you think.” - Abigail’s Mother
Having read and awarded 5 stars to Wet, book 1 of the series, I was looking forward to reading this book but sadly I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. However, I'm still awarding Wild with 4 stars as I did like the story of Thatcher’s self-discovery and witnessing the relationship he built with his son. Thatcher made the ultimate sacrifice and put those he loved before his own happiness due to demons from his past. I wasn't sure what to think at first because of the decisions he made but once the explanation was given, I felt sorry for him and hoped he got a second chance at having the family he deserved. Thatcher really wasn't a bad guy and did his best with what he had, which he'd worked hard for. Ashley Bostock wrote him as such a loveable character and I imagine many readers fall in love with Thatcher.
For me, it was Abigail who I struggled with as I found her to be selfish at times and also childish. Whilst I could understand her feeling of rejection, she appeared to blame Thatcher for pretty much everything and I felt that was unfair as he never forced her into anything and we're all responsible for our own actions. Towards the end, she made a lot of requests of Thatcher but didn't really seem to give anything in return. I guess I just like to see relationships that are more balanced and where both parties can accept blame where it's due. However, I have to give credit to Ashley Bostock for this because her writing got a strong reaction out of me even though it's perhaps not the one she wanted from a reader.
I also feel that I need to comment on the arson storyline as I would've liked to see this expanded more. It seemed to just fizzle out and felt very much like Ashley Bostock had created the storyline when needed to explain why other parts happened and then quietly ‘solved' the mystery when it was no longer required. For me, this storyline had the opportunity to be great and keep the reader gripped throughout. I do have some other points where I feel the story could be expanded or built on but I don't want to share too much in case I give away any spoilers.
Despite the points I've raised, I do believe this book is worth the 4 stars I've awarded it and that others will enjoy reading the story of Thatcher and Abigail.
Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book #2) By Ashley Bostock 4 Stars
Let me start by saying I love this cover! Has a country feel and looks very well done! This is my second book by Ashley and this is also the second book in the series. Over all this book was a good one, I unfortunately didn’t connect to the characters and their story as much as I thought I was going too but I still thought it was good.
Abigail Murphy is a soon to be divorced single mother to a little boy. She lives in a small town named Lone Star where everyone knows everyone else’s business. Her marriage is not one that girls dream about. She didn’t marry for love, she married a friend so that she could keep up appearances when Thatcher (baby daddy) found out she was pregnant and told her he couldn’t be there for them. The way the author talks about this situation makes me a little irritated. All of the blame is put on Thatcher but I didn’t see anywhere that said she asked him to stay, she just let him go. She seemed a little selfish throughout the book, but her feelings of being rejected and unwanted are something I can relate to. She wants to have Thatcher in her and her son’s life, but what will that cost her? And she cant help but wonder why he had such a sudden change of heart. Now Thatcher Thatcher Thatcher.. I still don’t know what to think about him. Appearance wise he is drool worthy. But his actions are a-whole-nother story. He leaves his pregnant gf high and dry to marry his best friend who she doesn’t even love. He has his reason on why he doesn’t want to raise a child that you learn about in the middle of the story. His reasons are valid and are important to why he did what he did, but they weren’t good enough reasons to shut everyone out and not talk about it. The way the story is told, the only reason he starts to pursue Abigail and his son again is because he has to have custody of an heir to get an inheritance. His intentions aren’t great at first but you can tell by the way he treats his son that he wants what is best for him and that he never stopped loving Abigail, even if it seemed like it. Will he be able to convince her that he wants them both in his life, forever? Or will Abigail not be able to look past his previous actions?
This story was interesting to me and by the end I was much happier with it than I was 20% of the way through. Also, the authors writing style was good and it she was able to make me feel a lot of emotions during the story. I would recommend this to someone who has read book #1: Wet!
“So, I’m just supposed to walk out of here and figure out a way to prove I love you?”
This was the first time I have read a novel by Ashley Bostock and it did not disappoint at all. It was a fast paced, well written, and very steamy romance novel, with lots of plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I read it as a standalone and there was not a cliffhanger ending so that was a benefit for those that prefer that, although it is a part of a series that I will for sure be reading the rest of.
This particular Lone Star book follows the lives and turmoil love story of Thatcher, Abigail, and their son Thayer. The past five years they have each been living a lie conjured up by Thatcher that was meant to protect their son. In reality it has destroyed pieces of Thatcher and Abigail slowly over time. As fate would have it Thatcher’s grandfather passes and leaves a test of will for Thatcher in his will all at the same time that Abigail’s is upturned by divorce and a devastating fire. Both are thrust into each other’s lives once again. Abby is not so quick to trust Thatcher again and is weary to let him into her heart. “He made his bed a long time ago. I couldn’t trust the man with my heart, with my son’s heart, because I didn’t know what or where the root of his problem with us laid.”
Her mother is even convinced that there is a good reason for Thatcher doing what he did five years ago and in time he will tell Abigail and make up for his time lost. “You mark my words Abigail Layne, Thatcher gave you up for a damned good reason, and I know, I just know that he’s more of a hero that you think.”
Thatcher is hopeful to find his way back into the heart of Abigail and become the father to Thayer that he wants to be. “Abby was able to help me see the real me. The me that I’ve always been, but had convinced myself I wasn’t. She made me a better man. What had I done to deserve her? Breaking her hart was number one on my list of regrets and number one on my list of making sure I spent the rest of my life making it up to her. And Thayer too.”
But is it too late? When a secret that Thatcher hopes never surfaces comes to light will it be the final nail in the coffin on their chances for a real relationship and chance at a family? Will there ever be a happy ending for them? Or will hate be the only thing Abigail will hold in her heart for Thatcher forever? “So, I’m just supposed to walk out of here and figure out a way to prove I love you?” “Yeah. Cause my heart hurts, Thatcher. You hurt me. You lied to me.”
I really, really hate to give negative reviews, but I can't do anything but give this one a negative because it's pretty bad. Wild has a "hero" who abandons his girlfriend when she's pregnant and convinces his friend to marry her so her virtue will be intact and the people of their small town won't think less of her. His big reason for bailing on his girlfriend and son? Because he was young, stupid and didn't want to be a bad father like his own father is. Yeah, and that's a really, really good reason to bail on one's responsibilities! NOT! Ugh, I can't even tell you how mad this whole premise made me.
Anyway, it's 5 years later and Thatcher (the "hero") has been notified by his late grandfather's attorneys that if he wants the rest of the money from his estate he has to prove he has legal custody of a child. Thatcher needs that money so he can bail out one of his stores. So what does he do? He decides to claim custody of his son, even though his friend is the one his son calls Daddy. Then Thayer (the son) and his mom, Abby are left homeless when their home is destroyed by a fire, so Thatcher brings them to live with him. And of course, Abby of no spine, falls into bed with him because she loves him and hasn't ever gotten over him, even though she was married to his friend. But wait, that marriage, that is now no longer, as they've divorced, was a sexless, loveless marriage, so her orgasms the whole 5 years since have been from her own hand (and by toys). Yeah...
I can't even tell you how much I cringed the entire time I was reading Wild. Thatcher is a serious asshole to have bailed on his responsibilities to his child. Yes, he was scared and young, but so what. If you are old enough to have sex, then you're old enough to raise the child that comes from having sex. No ifs ands or buts about it. And then there's Abby. She has zero spine. Well, she has a little when she finds out Thatcher's little agenda. Other than that, though, she was ridiculous. The whole story was just blah. There wasn't much of a connection that I could see between the two other than sex. The sex scenes were pretty hot, but the emotions? Blah, bland, nothing much there. Douchenozzle hero, spineless heroine. The only good things were Thayer (he's adorable) and his turtle, Spider-Man, and the sex scenes. Other than that, nothing much to recommend about this one.
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
This fantastic second book in Ashley Bostocks Love in Lone Star series it truly didn't disappoint. This author completely blew me away in book 1 so I had high expectations going in and like Wet I couldn't stop until I had finished the whole story!
Abigail Murphy had spent the last 5 years married to one of her best friends Adrian when he quickly stepped up to the plate after she was left pregnant and broken hearted when her other best friend Thatcher Patterson walked out on her and the life she carried within. Life hasn't been great but she's brought up her son Thacker to be a happy confident boy. When Adrian finally finds his one true love and makes the choice to divorce her she isn't even upset there's been nothing more than friendship physically or emotionally from the very beginning her heart was lost long ago and she never did get it back.
Thatcher Patterson made the biggest mistake of his life 5 years ago, after waking away from Abigail and his baby but what choice did he have after his upbringing how could he ever take the chance of being the same kind of father as his turned out to be! When his grandfather died and left him money he used it to buy the family feed store he spent many years helping this grandfather run but there's a second payout from the will. Only problem is it comes with conditions. Will Thatcher find a way to meet those conditions without putting the final nail in the coffin of his relationship with Abigail or will he realise that something's in life are worth more than just money.
Theses two people are so in love with each other but silly choices and past mistakes always seem to tear them apart can they truly be a family once and for all or will the hidden truths finally tear them apart forever.
I am so obsessed with Ashley's style of writing and the strong female characters she shares with us are woman we should aspire to be, so independent but still wants to be taken care of.
I'm really enjoying the Love in Lone Star series and hope there are still many more books to come. Fantastic 5 star read.
I had not previously read a book by Ashley Bostock before but I just love reading second chance romances so I jumped at the chance to read & review this author's book. This has pretty much everything you could want from a second chance romance.
This book follows the story of Abigail & Thatcher, who have a child together but she ends up married to his best friend Aiden? I was a little confused on that part but I was determined to give Thatcher a chance - surely he had a good reason for pushing away the mother of his child, and pushing her straight into his friend's arms. Abigail and her son Thayer seem to have a stretch of bad luck & end up living with Thatcher - after her divorce is finalized. How will she ever be able to resist him when she has secretly carried a torch for Thatcher for the past 5 years?!
I loved how Abigail was willing to give Thatcher a second chance, even when she was clearly still holding on to the hurt from his rejection. She made sure she got her answers, sure, but in the end she was much quicker to forgive him than I think I could be in her shoes.. (I may be a hopeless romantic when it comes to my books, but in real life I'm much more of a cynic than I should be). When I first read of the terms for Thatcher to get his inheritance I was so disappointed. I wanted a happily ever after for Thatcher & Abigail and I was sure that THAT was not how it was going to come about. However, the author threw a bit of a curve ball and came to an ending that I was not expecting. I think my only real negative for this book is that it felt a little rushed. It was already a shorter book - only 260 pages - but the pacing of it made it fly by. I read it all in one sitting over the weekend. But other than wishing it was longer or more spread out - this was a pretty fun read!
I’m a sucker for a second chance romance. Give me one with a touch of scandal and temptation set in a small town, I’m definitely in for the ride. Wild: A Small Town Romance by Ashley Bostock promised that and so much more. In Wild, we meet Thatcher and Abby. Childhood friends, turned secret lovers, these two have history… tons of it. Especially when Thatcher abandon’s pregnant Abby and she marries his best friend.
Now, I know what you are thinking… Thatcher is a douchebag. In many ways, I’d have to agree. Although Thatcher reveals a huge reason behind his decision making, I still didn’t quite buy the integrity of his story or the fact he even considered what he was doing to Abby. With swoony words and thoughtful acts Thatcher was appealing in the average romance leading man kinda way. Nothing really set him apart from other characters I’ve recently read.
My main issue with this novel was the fact I felt like it wasn’t believable. What guy would get his best friend to marry his girl? What guy would sacrifice his whole life for a friend to save face while never entertaining romantic thoughts. Maybe, had Adrian been gay wishing for a family of his own it would have made more sense to me. Although Adrian had been a father figure to the child, he wasn’t that invested it seemed. There was absolutely no back story between Abby and Adrian. Had Bostock included more of them as a couple or even their friendship, maybe the whole thing would have been more believable. As it stands, I had a hard time buying the relationships that Bostock created.
The only redeeming factor in this book was Abby. Abby was a strong lead who didn’t cave, submit or blindly forgive the horrible things Thatcher put her through. Although she was willing to forgive, she still tortured him a little which I give Bostock mad props.
Wild : A Small Town Romance is the second book in the series and follows the story of Thatcher and Abby who's history with each other is linked together but they have never been the right time until now to pursue the chemistry that shoots between them.
Abby is trying to overcome a divorce but a chance meeting in the store of her school boy crush is more than Abby can handle. This meeting with Thatcher brings all the old feelings to the surface but no-one knows that Abby's son is actual Thatcher's.
Thatcher has been thinking about the girl that got away and although he had his reasons for not sticking by Abbey when she got pregnant he still lusts after her, until a chance meeting in his store when he comes face to face with his son, Thayer. All of a sudden both worlds get turned upside down and Thatcher then has a chance to prove to Abby that he is the man for her.
This book was my favourite in this series, I loved the character of Thatcher in the first book when he was a secondary character and you just could tell there was a great story behind the man in the feed store. The softer side of this Alpha male was brilliant, even when they had a date night and he decided to read the book with a very famous tie was brilliant.
Also the character of Abby being so brave and strong with first the history of her and Thatcher, then having to admit that her marriage was over and she had to let Adrian go was heart wrenching but she overcomes it all to look after the sweet little boy, Thayer.
The writing style is fast pace and the way the two characters interact is beautiful, I can't wait to read the next story in this series and am secretly hoping it will be Grace's story with a certain biker as her love interest.
Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 2) by Ashley Bostock 5 out of 5 stars
This is the second book in this series but the first book that I have read by Ms. Bostock and I enjoyed this cute love story that shows you even after betrayal the heart wants what the heart wants. This story also shows you that you can always for-give and learn to trust again. The characters are well written and quirky ad down to earth.
Abigail Murphy finds herself pregnant and alone at a young age. When she tells Thatcher Patterson that she’s pregnant and she also finds out that he wants nothing to do with her. Ever since her divorce became final, she decides to start putting herself first. The problem is when she think of putting herself first, she think of Thatcher Patterson her son’s biological father.
Suddenly her son and she are forced to live with Thatcher indefinitely and it’s difficult to remember all the reasons why she doesn’t trust him. Can she learn to trust him again for herself and her son? The way he looks at her, the way he is with their son and the way he makes her feel are all the reasons for him to give him a second chance.
Thatcher never stopped loving Abigail Murphy or wishing he could be the perfect dad to his son. So, when a stipulation in his late grandfather’s will states that he must have an heir to claim my inheritance, it’s the push he needs to get them in his life.
He needs them as much as he needs that money. With his business in the red, he has no other option. As the deadline creeps closer, he never counted on the guilt he would feel at trying to get a two for one deal. So when the two of them move in with him he is reminded of all the wonderful things this woman has to offer and all the emotions she makes him feel.
She makes him feel like he could be the man she needs and just maybe he could be the father his son deserves the father he’s been so afraid to be. This was a wonderful love story that is a quick read and I will be reading the first book in this series next. By Tracy
Wild is the second book in the Love in Lone Star Series by Ashley Bostock.
What makes a man walk out on the woman he loves when he finds out she’s pregnant? Sometimes it is purely because he’s a deadbeat, but in the case of Thatcher it’s because he is afraid he’ll end up to be like his own father-abusive. After Thatcher walks out, one of his friends steps up and marries Abigail so she won’t end up an unwed mother. The relationship between Abigail and Adrian is just friendship though and for 5 years they live together just pretending they have a marriage until Adrian falls in love with another woman. Abigail agrees to a divorce because she doesn’t want to stand in the way of Adrian’s happiness.
When a mysterious fire burns down Abigail’s house, she and her son have nowhere to go, so Thatcher takes them in. Thatcher begins to bond with his son and realizes what a mistake he made in walking out at the beginning. The love between Abigail and Thatcher rekindles. Abigail is hopeful that things will work out and they can be a real family, but Thatcher is hiding a secret that threatens to bring the whole thing crashing down.
In the beginning of the book Thatcher comes off as somewhat of a jerk, but as he begins to get in touch with how he truly feels about having a son and potentially a family, you see past his mistakes and learn to love him.
You also get to see Abigail’s perspective as a mother who is trying to make the decision that is best for her son. As a parent, it is difficult to have to weigh choices that will affect the way your child grows up.
I like that the author has written the books in this series in a way that they link together but can also be read individually as standalone books.
Wild by Ashley Bostock is the second book in her Love in Lone Star series. This is a second chance romance that revolves around Thatcher Patterson and Abigail Murphy. Thatcher and Abby have known each other for many years at one point going from friends to lovers. That is, until Abby gets pregnant and Thatcher decides he is not ready to be a father so he enlists his best friend to marry Abby, Thatcher walks away thinking he is doing what is best for Abby. Years go by and now Thatcher needs something from Abby, will she help him or walk away? Abby has been going through a divorce secretly; she has her son and needs nothing more. Her ex has found the love of his life and all she wants is to move forward with her son and maybe find someone who will finally put her first instead of doing what is best for them. After an incident Abby ends up spending time with Thatcher again and realizes her love never died, but will the secrets Thatcher is keeping push her away permanently? How much more forgiving does she have to do? I truly enjoyed this story, maybe even more than the first book in the series. I felt terrible for Abby from the beginning; I mean how could Thatcher just “give” her to his best friend? How could you live with yourself? I understand there are places that still have the “small town mentality” and Abby didn’t want to be an unwed mother but was marrying the best friend of the biological father really all that right? I enjoyed watching Abby develop her backbone though. Thayer was a treasure throughout the story and I just wanted to cuddle the little guy!! This was an amazing story and I can’t wait to read more in this series and by this author. While this is the second book in a series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone
****4 stars**** Wild: A Small Town Romance by Ashley Bostock
I wavered on my rating of this one and decided on 4 stars. I love rekindling of old romances and small town happily ever afters. I also liked that there was a little small-town mystery and scandal mixed in. The story behind the fires in town was a story I've heard before so that kind of turned me off a bit. The things related to Thatcher’s grandfather's Will was pretty far fetched and the situation surrounding Abigail’s marriage was pretty unbelievable, even in the best of friendships. I also found their choice of books to read as pretty cliché, but it was an easy reference to allow people to know the type of writing and content they were sharing with one another.
Overall though, I still enjoyed this book a lot. I thought the writing was pretty good and I did like the characters. I found it nice to not have just a book of all romance since it had a little town crime and financial struggles mixed in. I'm a sucker for happily ever after, and found it sweet how Thatcher’s grandpa and Abigail’s mom were so in favor of things working out for them in the end. I liked the steamy parts and the young couple finding the spark they'd been missing for so long. Again, I have mixed feelings and found some things irritating, but it was an overall quick read that I got sucked into no matter how unrealistic it may have been. I wasn't looking for a realistic story I would've picked non-fiction, so for what I was after, a steamy romance with a few twists and turns, I got it.
Wild: Love In Lone Star by Ashley Bostock is a great second book in this series. This book can be read as a stand-alone but why would you do that when the book before is just as fantastic. 5 out of 5 stars for the second installment.
This book is about Thatcher and Abigail, and their son Thayer. All of the characters are so wonderfully written and fit so perfectly together. I love that Abigail comes off as a strong independent woman and like most women, would do anything to protect her son and both of their hearts.
Thatcher abandons Abigail when he finds out she is pregnant with his son. His best friend Adrian then steps up to the plate and marries her so that she won’t be an unwed mother in the eyes of the small town. My heart broke when I learned of the reasons behind Abigail marrying Thatcher’s best friend Adrian and how her life had been until the present time.
I wanted to kick Thatcher for putting her through a lonely, loveless life until he finally got his act together. I can understand why he felt he couldn’t be a father to Thayer but, I hate that it took him so long to realize what he really wanted. You can tell there is so much love between these two and can’t help but to root for them.
Overall the romance and drama in this book are exceptional and I would definitely advise anyone who has read the first book, to give this one a read. I really hope there is maybe a book about Thatcher’s friend Cap and his sister Grace. Thank you Ashley Bostock for another great read!
Wild is the second book in Ashley Bostock’s Love in Lone Star series and I dived into it straight after I was done with the first book! The blurb was a bit controversial and I have to admit I went into it feeling a bit upset with one of the main characters but … So, Wild is the story of Abigail Murphy and Thatcher Patterson. On the surface one could say that Thatcher is a total jerk, he did not want to have anything to do with Abby when she got pregnant with his son and actually had his best friend Adrian to marry her so she would not suffer from the small town stigma of unwed pregnant woman. Well, the reality is much more complex and I think we, women, know too well that the minds of men work in convoluted ways and very often they are the reason for their downfall themselves. Back to Abby and Thatcher, after 5 years Abby is getting divorced and Thatcher wants a second chance and then things get even more complicated, if one could imagine that. I loved Ashley’s writing and even though I felt like strangling Thatcher too many times, at the end of the day, I forgave him and I was rooting for him. Abby, I could not imagine the life she was living, the way she supressed her feelings and needs and … so often we lose sight of ourselves when we become mothers. Wild was a great story of second chances in a small town where everyone is up in your business. Why don’t you grab a glass (or a bottle) of wine and come along on a ride to find out if second chances really work!
Wild: A Small Town Romance (Love in the Lone Star Book #2) By Ashley Bostock 4 Star Read
Wild by Ashley Bostock is a four star book, I had read book one in this series, so it was a no brainer for me to pick up this story. This is a little bit different story, the hero is really hard to like at the beginning, but as the story goes on it changed for me.
Abby and Adrian are married they are best friends, share a son but are quietly divorcing. Abby has a son Thayer who is four years old and he is not Adrian’s son, but he knew that when they got married. They have been strictly friend the entire time they have been married, but Adrian has met someone and Abby knows that she has to let him go.
Thatcher is Thayer’s father, but he was not man enough to take responsibility years ago, he convinced Adrian to step up and marry Abby. He broke Abby’s heart in the process letting her go with no real explanation. They have managed to avoid each other even though they live in a small town.
Abby’s house burns down and having no place to go agrees to spend one night at Thatcher’s house. So what happens when the two of them begin spending time together? Will Thatcher ever explain why he did what he did?
This was a good story and Thatcher was able to redeem himself in my eyes. The author did a very good creating these characters, it was easy to become very frustrated with Thatcher.
Wild:A Small Town Romance ( Love In LoneStar Book 2 ) By Ashley Bostock
Wild A Small Town Romance ( Love In LoneStar book 2) By Ashley Bostock is the second book in her Love in LoneStar series. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend going back and reading the first book,as some of the characters are in this book as well. I absolutely loved this book I was hooked from the beginning and very anxious to see what was going to happen. This author writing style will grab your attention from the beginning to the end, the way she gives her characters live with such detail, you feel like your apart of the story. This story is about Abigail and Thatcher.
Abigail for the first time in a long time and since her divorce became final decides to put herself first. One problem when she has these thoughts she thinks of one man,her son's father Thatcher. He on the other hand wanted nothing to do with her once he got the news she was pregnant Her heart was broken and essentially he took it with him that day and she never got it back.Something comes about and she find herself and her son living with Thatcher.
Thatcher loves Abigail and never stopped he thought he was doing the right thing but realizes now it wasnt. This story has some twists and turns. Find out what happens between Abigail and Thatcher. Can they make it work? How will Abigail react?I highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. As this was my first reading an Ashley Bostock book, I was not sure of the author or the way they wrote. It was thrilling to discover the talent that this author possesses and how that shines through in Wild, Book 2 in the Love in Lone Star series.
It took a little longer than usual for me to gel with the characters and the storyline, but once I did, I was unable to put this one down. Abigail and Thatcher have history, and a child together. Their story takes the reader on a twisted road full of mystery, attraction, rekindling the spark that has neve really dimmed, and many unanswered questions. Once i got right into the thick of the story, I realised what an intelligent and masterful storyteller Ashley Bostock is. The characters were believable, the storyline flowed at a nice even pace, and there was always events that continuously kept my inquisitive mind really busy and thoroughly entertained.
Wild was a fantastic second chance story that will satisfy many different readers in many different ways. As I mentioned, I did not feel the story straight away, but once I did, there was no stopping me. I fell for Abigail and Thatcher. Not to mention that adorable son of theirs. Ashley Bostock kept me busy with these characters and ticked all the boxes that i feel make up a superb romance and while it was not all sunshine and roses, it certainly satisfied my craving for this genre. A fabulous story by a very entertaining and talented author
Wild was the 2nd book I have read by Ashley Bostock and it was just as thrilling as the first one in the Lone Star series. An adult romance with some passionate love scenes I’d not recommend for under 18s. I enjoyed the familiarity of the setting from the first book and the main characters from that book playing a minor part in this one; however it could be read and enjoyed as a standalone book. The main characters Abigail and Thatcher were childhood sweethearts whose relationship ended abruptly when she found herself pregnant and she subsequently married his best friend. The story picks up 5 years later when Abigail is going through a divorce and a difficult time in her life. The underlying passion between these two characters sizzled on every page and definitely left me hot under the collar! It was a fabulous romance that had twists and turns and lots of love scenes- both physical and emotional. It gives people the hope that soul mates will find their way back to each other no matter what path they take through life. I liked both main characters and thought they were well written. Both wanted to do what they thought was best for the other & for their child which I really liked. I would have liked more back story on the best friend Adrian, but maybe that is for another book? Hope so! I look forward to reading more by this author. Overall a 4 star read for me. I enjoyed every page and couldn’t put it down until I’d finished!!
This is the first book I have read by Ashley Bostock. I wasn't sure what to expect going in. While I like the romance genre, I need some kind of angst or drama.
However, by chapter 3 I knew this book was going to be no problem to enjoy. After getting a feel for Thatcher, Abigail, and Thayer, I was in love and needed to see how their story played out. Ashley Bostock does a perfect job of making you feel right in the middle of each of the characters. There was enough head-butting to make the characters feel like real people. The situations they were put into were challenging, but again, real. I really like a book that feels like it could be taken out of a persons real-life, especially in the romance genre. I am looking forward to reading more of Ashley Bostock's work, it rekindled my own love of romance.
I am giving Wild by Ashley Bostock 4 stars. One thing I would have liked to see more of would have been between Abigail and Adrian. I felt that he should have at least reappeared sometime before the end of the book, but that's just my opinion. I also felt that a little more time could have been spent on Thatcher and his father's relationship. This would have helped build Thatcher's case for being concerned for Thayer. Overall, I really liked Wild and would recommend it.
