Guests are seeing the dead at Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast.
Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast seems quiet after Emily Buchanan sends the resident ghosts on a mission to find her late husband’s spirit. When she begins hearing strange noises, Emily doesn’t think it can be paranormal. After all, there are no ghosts left in the Victorian mansion. Right?
Emily realizes she bought more than a mirror when she finds herself face-to-face with a ghost trapped inside it. The ghost’s story leads Emily to an historic mansion that has been wreathed in mystery for years.
As the suspects add up, so do the number of threats Emily and her friends are receiving. Someone among the living desperately wants them to give up the search for clues. Emily worries even more about her safety when she finds out something evil is lurking just outside the town of Oak Hill…
Beth Dolgner writes paranormal fiction and non-fiction. Her interest in things that go bump in the night really took off on a trip to Savannah, Georgia, so it's fitting that the Betty Boo, Ghost Hunter Series of paranormal romance novels takes place in that spooky city. Beth's young adult novels, the steampunk Manifest and the urban fantasy A Talent for Death, also have paranormal elements. Her non-fiction work includes Georgia Spirits and Specters and Everyday Voodoo.
Since Georgia is obviously on her mind, you might think Beth lives there. Well, she did, but these days she and her husband live in Berlin, Germany, with their three cats. Beth misses those mild Georgia winters and proper iced tea, but there's no reason her characters can't enjoy those things.
Beth also enjoys giving presentations on Victorian death and mourning traditions as well as Victorian Spiritualism. She has been a volunteer at an historic cemetery, a ghost tour guide and a paranormal investigator. Right now she's chronicling the best spooky spots around Europe.
Scenic Views is Book #4 in the 'Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast' Series.
Emily Buchanan is the owner of the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast, which she took over from her grandparents and the place is haunted! It is a known fact and qualifies her B & B to be on the haunted house circuit! One of her ghosts used to work for her, Mrs. Thompson, who died of natural causes, and makes her presence known by knocking (on walls, doors, etc.); Kelly is a 17-year old energetic teenage ghost, that communicates through writing notes; she was murdered and Emily and her psychic medium friend Sage Clark, were able to solve her murder; there's Grandma Gray and a child that likes to play with certain toys, but they're not very active; along with several others that Emily didn't even know about and of course there is the 20 acre cemetery that is connected to the house by a pathway and elaborate gate. Her friend Reed Marshall is the cemetery caretaker of her historic Hilltop Cemetery and he takes care of the Oak Hill Memorial Garden, where his great great-grandfather is buried. Emily also has budding and growing paranormal skills- medium skills, and Sage is helping her increase them so she can help her deceased husband Scott.
Emily has had her share of assistants, and even with her budding medium skills, it hasn't helped her with choosing them, but for this week she has a nice group of ghost hunters staying with her ! Maybe they can help her find out about the barrier that is surrounding Oak Hill, making it difficult for her deceased husband Scott to make contact with her, and what is actually keeping him weak by draining his spirit? Before this group arrived for their reservation, Emily thought is would be great to do so a little shopping, spruce up the place by getting a few antique items for the B & B (which is a Victorian home), but little did she know that she bought a haunted ornate gilt framed floor mirror!
She's been hearing shrieking, shouting, and nails' clawing (like on a chalkboard) -- all the perfect activity for a ghost hunting group -First Coast Ghost Hunters! Good thing too because Emily asked her ghosts to go searching for Scott's spirit; to find him and see if he was okay, and to let him know she and they were trying to help him and to ask him what they needed to do; which meant that her house was no longer haunted!
With the First Coast Ghost Hunters on the case, listening for voices, doing research, and monitoring the frequency of activity, questions were getting answered, but who's watching them and sending the threats?
In Book #4 Emily and Sage encounter a dark entity that is very powerful! Was that the danger Scott was trying to warn Emily about before his tragic car accident? This new ghost haunting the mirror, was known to have been murdered, so what was it trying to convey? Where are the threats to Emily and her friends coming from? Was it related to the dark entity that Emily and Sage met at the boathouse? Can it follow to her home?
Read Book #4 Scenic Views, a part of the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast Series to find out who killed the mirror ghost, who's threatening Emily and her friends, and can they help Scott before it's too late!
A cozy paranormal mystery for 13+, with no racy scenes and no foul language! Looking forward to Book #5!
Scenic Views is the fourth book by Beth Dolgner in the Eternal Bed and Breakfast series. Emily Buchannon once again has her hands full with a house filled with eager ghost hunters. The only problem is that she sent her resident ghosts on an errand, and now it seems that she has a brand new spirit. Emily did buy some antique items to spruce up the house after all the excitement during the art festival, and the new ghost must be haunting one of those items. As Emily and her guests try to find out more about the history of the various items she bought, Emily and her friends receive threats of harm should they continue their investigation. When the truth starts to unravel, even the Oakhill police give more than their usual support as they realise they will have to help Emily to keep her and her friends safe. Finding a killer based on the reversed ramblings of a ghost can be difficult, as everyone connected to Eternal Rest comes to realise.
Listening to an Eternal Rest Audiobook is like checking into a favourite B&B for a relaxing stay. Emily and her friends are well known by now, and it feels like a vacation to listen to the antics she and her friends get up to help a spirit move on to the next plane. The various new guests bring a new dynamic to each book and ensure that the reader always has a unique story with new dynamics to which to listen. Patricia Shade again does a brilliant job narrating, and her character voices are like old friends you have not seen for a while. A definite recommendation to all Cozy paranormal lovers out there
Good for readers that like: Cozy Murder Mysteries, Realistic Characters, Spooky (but not scary) Ghost Stories
Emily is running a haunted bed and breakfast, and what could go wrong now?!
In the fourth book of the "Eternal Rest bed and breakfast" series, Emily is hard at work running the B&B (when will she finally get reliable help that isn't scared off by her friendly ghosts and small-town drama) while her good friends Sage, Reed, and Trevor help her find out why her deceased husband can't cross over into the afterlife.
While some new guests (a team of ghost hunters) stay at the Eternal Rest, Emily, her friends, and her guests all work together to help find out who is haunting her newly acquired antique mirror and as usual, reveal some new small-town drama.
Author Beth Dolgner does a brilliant job of balancing genuine relationships among the living and the dead while keeping the suspense of crime-solving moving along at a comfortable pace. These mysterious haunts are never spelled out for you, but readers don't have to wait through 200 pages for answers either.
Personally, I've grown very attached to the characters in this series (along with her last series, Betty Boo, ghost hunter). Beth Dolgner has a way of writing that makes her characters feel like she is simply writing about a friend.
What is up with that mysterious dark energy by the lake? Will Emily and Trevor end up as more than friends? Will Emily's dearly departed husband be able to cross over and find peace? Will Reed ever accept the fact that he has 'the gift of sight'? I don't know! But I can't wait to read about it in the next book!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. (but I would have bought it anyways)
‘Scenic Views’ is book 4 in the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast Paranormal Cozy Mysteries’ series. In this book, we continue on Emily’s journey managing her B&B whilst trying to solve yet another murder. This time, we get to meet some new guests, aka, some ghost hunters who help Emily and her friends.
This book, like the others in the series, was excellent. I especially liked seeing more/different guests at the B&B. Even more so, I liked how in this book Emily and her friends were working with said guests to solve the A Plot mystery. It seem like a lot of characters in the town had some involvement in this book. At the same time, that many characters being involved did not take anything away from the main storyline, as well as, the main characters.
I also liked how we dove more into Emily’s husband’s ghost and what he seems to be going through. I’m exited and eager to learn more about that in the next book.
I read/listened to this book in audio format and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is narrated by Patricia Shade, who always does an amazing job with the narration. Shade’s voice sounds cozy and it kept me enthralled in the story.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
I am enjoying this series. The books are short, under 200 pages, and the plots are quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
The plot in this story encompasses the darkest entity yet. It gave me goosebumps, but didn’t terrify me. The first couple of books had seances and a deck of tarot cards. I’m one of those who isn’t comfortable with either of these things in real life, so I’m telling you in case this is a trigger for you.
Book 4 has the first encounter with a very dark entity. Again, it stayed away and didn’t overtake the plot. It just made things a little uncomfortable. I will go ahead and dive into book 5. The nice thing about Kindle Unlimited is that it is very easy to read plenty of books to make up for the monthly subscription fee. That means if any book gets too dark for me I can just close the book and move to something with a brighter story to tell.
Beth Dolgner’s books are not available at my library and I do enjoy getting to read stories from unknown authors. The fact that I’m going directly to book 5 tells you that I enjoy this author’s writing. It is just the type of fast-paced book I like to read in summer.
This is the 4th book in the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast and it just keeps getting better and better. This time Emily, the owner of Eternal Rest B&B, has sent her "in-house" ghost to see if they can help her dead husband who is stuck and can't move on. When she starts hearing noise, she can't figure out who it can be since she has no ghost in the house. When she realizes that the noise is coming from an antique mirror she had just bought and put in one of the bedrooms, she tries to connect with the ghost inside and to hear their story. Turns out their story leads back to a murder from several years ago and an old mansion with a lot of mysteries. Emily and her guest try to find out more information regarding the murders but someone doesn't want them to continue their search. Great story that keeps you wondering to the end. This is a wonderful series that just moves from book to book while keeping the old characters and adding new ones. The mystery is always a page turner. Great read.
A haunted B&B that's missing its ghosts isn't the ideal situation. At least not for the ghost hunters who booked a stay. Fortunately for them, Emily's recently purchased mirror seems to have come with a ghost of its own.
Although Emily might not want to admit it, helping ghosts seems to be her thing. So when she realizes there's something in the mirror? She does something about it. Which starts by trying to figure out who the individual is. On the plus side, her guests are thrilled to have a chance to help her investigate this haunting. Except, the deeper they get into figuring out what happened, the more dangerous it seems to be.
But Emily's not one to stop because of a little danger. She's determined to figure out what's what and bring a killer to justice. *thumbs up*
The Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast series quickly became one of my favorite cozy series. In this 4th book, Emily has bought some antiques and finds that the mirror she bought has the ghost of a twin from a double murder. With help from her B&B guests, Sage, Trevor and Reed, Emily tries to find out why the ghost hasn't crossed over. And why there is another ghost in Trish's hand mirror. Also, what is keeping Scott from contacting Emily? She sends her ghosts out to try to find him. They return and tell Sage why he isn't able to contact her. Does it have anything to do with the entity at the lake? We'll have to wait and see.
This is another fun investigation. I love the series and the characters. I can't wait for the next book.
Love this story book 4 in the series . The author Beth Dolgner does it again . Love this cosy mystery series. Emily has more on her agenda with a new ghost. The way Beth Dolgner wrote a strong story very well detailed and disctription . This story has turns and twists and paranormal happenings going on in this very haunted small town with sordid pasts coming to the surface.. this time a mirror that was bought at the arts and crafts festival. The mirror is followed by a murdered twin. One thing Scott ( Emily’s husband) has still not and can’t contact her . You need to listen to this
Patricia performance was fantastic. Love how she did all the characters with her tone
Easily the scariest book of the series so far and the plot seemed more threatening as it was centred around dark secrets rather than the previous books whose plots were centred around current events within the novel. The twists in the book were amazing and I particularly loved the creepy idea of ghosts in mirrors. Sarah’s burlap doll of Emily was so unsettling that it added so much more urgency and danger to solving the murders. The materialisation of Scott at the end of the book was heartbreaking - it felt bittersweet to see Emily get the reassurance of seeing her husband after two years. The fact that she waited for him for two hours just in case he reappeared was beautiful. This is by far my favourite story of the series so far.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Emily has her hands full in this installment. She keeps busy in between guests and her recent purchase of a antique mirror comes with a ghost. The shock! Rest assure Emily can handle just about anything. Emily and a fun new team are on a mission to discover what happened to the ghost that’s trapped. It was really a good investigation that I thoroughly enjoyed! I’m very curious to see what happens next with Emily’s late husband spirit. The narrator, Patricia Shade was fantastic. I feel like she’s a great voice for Emily and the characters we see in the book. If you enjoy cozy paranormal mystery reads I highly recommend this series. It’s just a bit of hocus pocus fun.
Thanks to Beth Dolgner for the Audio copy of Scenic Views.
I absolutely love this series and I like how each book has a new mystery but the same underlying goal.
Scenic views centres around the mystery of the Mirror and the deaths of the twins that happened many years ago.
I enjoyed this story as it's straight into the mystery. The characters are all well developed and with the exception of the b & b guests we already know the main players, so the story is focused on the storyline rather than carving out the characters and developing their world. Which by book 4 is fantastic as the mystery of the storyline just plays out like a mini cosy movie.
Welcome back to Eternal Rest Bed And Breakfast with Emily and all her friends, at this time a group of Ghost Hunters are staying at Emily’s place and strange things start happening at the bed and breakfast while they are there. Strange scratching and yelling can be heard from one of the rooms and that is just the start of the investigation that will see everyone who is a friend of Emily being threatened and warned to stop looking into their investigation. So join the gang and find out who is haunting Eternal Rest and why, you’re gonna love the truth when you find it, I guarantee it, but make sure to keep yourself safe also.
In this case Emily has a mirror that, unfortunately, came with someone somehow trapped inside it. Sage becomes involved and, as expected, it turns into a murder mystery.
A mystery that is hard to solve since the two who were killed are inside mirrors and when they talk it's backwards. Fortunately there's a paranormal team there and they set up equipment to try and determine what the spirits are saying.
Some matters get worse but, as expected, there is a satisfactory ending.
I really like the section where the paranormal investigators are setting up their equipment and doing the best they can to get some answers.
This was the fourth book in the "Eternal Rest Bed And Breakfast Paranormal Cozy Mysteries" series and I enjoyed it a lot. This mystery was especially haunting, and there were a couple of times when I had to check over my shoulder to make sure I was alone while listening to the audiobook. Beth Dolgner has written a very creative and fascinating cozy mystery and I recommend it to others who enjoy this genre. Patricia Shade's narration kept my attention until the very end of the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
Beth Dolgner delivers another thoroughly enjoyable paranormal mystery. Emily buys a antique mirror only to find another ghost needing assistance. The usual gang plus some ghost hunting guests help to investigate bringing danger to their door. The story is inventive , the writing is great and the murderer a surprise. Patricia Shade gives another accomplished performance giving the story an nice edge. Highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy from the author and am leaving a honest voluntary review.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous ones. There were just so many instances where Emily did some really stupid things because she was "driven" or "had to". Sorry, that's just bunk. She puts herself and others at risk, feels bad, and continues to do stuff to make it happen again. It was a bit frustrating. I did enjoy the group staying at the Inn. I do enjoy the secondary group of friends in the story. It's good to see some forward movement with the Dark entity holding/draining (?) Scott. I'm hoping that sees a conclusion soon.
Emily purchases some antiques to spruce up some of the rooms in the B&B. Unfortunately, one of the items comes with a ghost and a mystery to solve. Luckily Emily has some ghost hunters staying at the B&B that are more than happy to jump in and help! What they find is a mystery from the past involving some very unliked twins. The rumor is that they were so greedy that they killed one another so the other didn’t inherit. Emily’s powers are getting stronger and Emily gets a visit from a special ghost! Very much enjoying this series!
I love this series, Emily is getting closer to helping Scott and finds that she buys a haunted mirror, which turns out to be haunted and with the help of some ghost hunter guests, she delves deeper. She thinks that it is an old case, but it turns out to be a bit more modern than that. Spoilt rich twins are murdered and it causes confusion, since they are said to have killed each other, but did they? Why is someone making threats? It causes a lot of angst and all of the gang gather at Emily's house to seek refuge. They do solve the mystery and the killer!
The 4th book in the series follows Emily adding to her B&B, Eternal Rest, but inadvertently getting her self tangled up in another murder mystery. With her close group of friends and the help of a ghost hunting group staying at her inn, they get to the bottom of a long standing local story. I enjoy the quirkiness of the characters and the interactions with the ghosts. I do wish there was more of the ongoing story happening in each book in addition to the current mystery.
THE MIRRORED MYSTERIES. Another satisfying mystery with lots of potential bait for us readers. Again l was out smarted and loved the new guests/ghost hunters come to stay at Eternal Rest guest home beside the cemetery. We are also a step closer to finding the ghost husband, that is a mystery all in itself. Recommended clean mystery for teenagers and above.
This was absolutely insane! Two old cases that everyone thought were already solved. An evil…whatever it is…that tried to take over Sage. I mean, just insane! At least there were legit ghost investigators staying at the B&B. They were awesome and helped out Emily and Sage so much.
While I've loved books one through three, book four is even better! Yes, that's right, this series just keeps getting better and better. The new mystery is layered, fraught with danger, and unputdownable! AND this time we learn more about what's happening with Emily's husband, Scott. Bring on book five!
I just love this series. Emily and the gang are such wonderful characters. The story is well put together. Love the whole series and can not wait until the next one comes out.
Emily is decorating the B&B. So she finds some nice antiques to add to the Victorian ambiance. Strange noises and sounds begin happening at the house. What is happening is it paranormal or just ordinary things? Very nice read.
Each book seems to be better than the one before. I can't wait for more! I have found a favorite author. I love the fact that they help ghosts get justice. The friends are amazing too!
Each book we get closer to finding out what’s going on with her husband. But this time or introduced to this very shady evil character who isn’t exactly it goes but we don’t know what he is almost a demon it seems. But something is blocking her husband from communicating. So Emily sends off her ghosts from the house to investigate. Then she has her house full of new guest who are ghost hunters and she realizes she has no ghosts for them. Turns out not exactly be true. There are some kid spirits who don’t really communicate that they can check out. Also, Emily bought a bunch of antiques and some new strange things are happening. So these ghost hunters volunteered to find out. Turns out they are two spirits that are twins, who basically did a murder suicide in the ghost are trapped in two different mirrors. I will say I don’t know if she hires another assistant. But the lady who I can’t think of her name that brings her baked goods is offering to have her son help out and eventually her mother will take the position. Definitely some twists and turns and the killer I didn’t see coming this time.
This one was a bit scarier than the previous stories for me. With the screeching, and secluded feeling brought to the forefront. Reading alone at night, definitely creeped me out a bit. The guilty party wasn't as obvious this time either.
Another enjoyable book in this series. Emily buys an antique mirror, but finds out a ghost is trapped inside. Later a friend is given another antique mirror and a ghost is in that one too! Who are they and who killed them and why?
These cozy paranormal mysteries are such quick, fun reads! I’m happy the ongoing mystery seems to be nearing a resolution and the murder doesn’t have to be a current one to make a good story!
