This was a disappointing read. I finished the book but to be honest I wouldn't say I liked it. The idea for the storyline is good but I believe it is poorly executed.
The way the plot was built explained nothing about the world it was set in, the character development was hasty and even the relationships between the characters evolved with no visible or understandable storyline.
What species is Ullah? What are the possible powers of dragons? Why can Curran hear dragons? Is he Tallya's fated mate? Why do some people have magic and others don't? How did Aidan tell Tallya she was supposed to marry him? How did he announce he was gay to his parents? Whenever you get to a new chapter it just feels like you missed a big chunk of the book.
On top of that, there is no time taken to accompany Tallya through her discovery of being a dragon.
She also is an impetuous heroine with no sense of self-preservation whatsoever, she survives thanks to luck. She never stops to think before acting and I get that she wants to save the people she loves but she never even thinks about the fact that she would be way more efficient if trained first ( That's more of a personal bias, but I dislike this type of heroine).
Also, we don't even know exactly what type of curse was laid upon the people of Elsimer.
Truly disappointed.

A fast paced tale following Tallya, a girl with a curse she doesn't fully understand. Her skin forms a rash that flakes off as scales. An evil sorceress wants to stomp out all magic, including Tallya's.
I absolutely love stories set in worlds like these. Knights, prophecies, dragons, and horrifying magic? Just my cup of tea!
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series by the talented Knight and Platas!
