Wolfman Warlock #2

Libriohexer: A Completionist Chronicles Series

Rate this book
Dumpster diving for profit. Creatures most fowl. Blazes of glory.

Sam King is enjoying being a Bibliomancer, especially as his powers grow and new doors begin to open for him. Between slapping down people hunting him and the Wolfmen that he works with, he’s even starting to get fringe benefits that even his handler is surprised by.

Not everything is sunshine and unicorns. Tasked with advancing his class as well as forming a new den for his team–his pack–the Bibliomancer starts to learn what the costs really are for blazing his own trail. Yet, with every cost comes opportunity, and if he makes the right call, his time in this world will be way more fun than he ever imagined.

Sam didn’t choose the path of a Wolfman Warlock out of a sense of duty, but as a way to choose his own path in Eternium. He never expected to love it.

Review: I love this series. Inventive, creative and full of movement. Sam is taking the hard road but it proves interesting.

The second story is even better than the first. My family is loving this series so far. Filled with great world-building and tons of witty humor, we enjoyed every moment of the audiobook. A great series for the entire family that keeps everyone guessing, laughing, and completely enthralled.

Was worth the wait

This was a wonderful sequel. That builds on the previous book without requiring to have read it. It neatly walks the line of being lit rpg without drowning you in stats. But doesn't have so few stats that you wonder why the author bothered. Progession is earned without feeling like a slog all the fights are interesting. I think most people would enjoy this book.

Really fun sequel. My main question going into this book was when it was going to take place. It turns out that it aligns with book 1 of The Ritualist and the climax of that book. I was hoping that it would be further down the line because we saw Sam in a later book of The Ritualist series but considering that book 1 of this series was essentially a prequel, it makes sense to not have a huge time lapse right at the beginning of this series. Anyways, this book was very enjoyable and showed that there is a lot to this story left to be told.

A great read

Full warning I had an advanced copy and I loved it Sam as a character is much the polar opposite of Joe and it shows every now and then. It's amazing to see events from the completionist from another angle but worrisome too knowing what's coming next. A must read.

Nice:
- A few links to events from the Completionist Chronicles, but don't expect much!
- A few new goodies for the Wolf Pack
- MC makes up his mind about how to advance and it turns out great for him. (arguably, though, he was told to do it by an unexpected new teacher)

Bad:
- The story lacks suspense. The fights that happen lack the possibility of negative consequences due to plot armor.
- No personal conflicts happen or get addressed
- MC and co. want A, ask for it, are told to do B, do so, get rewards - no suspense.
- MC's party commit theft and murder against human civilians and without hardly a thought - just a perfunctory "it is a war".

Another fun adventure

What a great romp. Having read all of the Ritualist stories, it’s a blast getting a 180 degree opposite perspective of this well designed world. My only quibble is that the clash between the Wolfmen and Hunans seems difficult to rationalize beyond sheer racial hostility. Neither side is really encroaching on the land or goods that the other needs, it just doesn’t seem that the conflict needs to exist except as an excuse to have grand quests and schemes. But I loved the story nonetheless.

Different perspective - still spectacular

Another compelling story in this universe. In this story, we get to see more deeply into the Wolfman culture and it is just as deep and complex.

We also get to see significant growth of these characters superimposed over events in Joe's storyline.

What comes next? Oh We will just have to be patient as this book comes to a definite conclusion, not leaving the reader hanging on but still leaving us anticipating the next installment!

A clucking good time

I don't think I am giving anything away by saying this book involves chickens, but it does. And it is Glorious! Puns and pop humor were there in droves and made the reading fun and have me looking forward to more. I think my only nitpick is the timeline confusion between Sam and his gang and Joe and his gang. Not necessarily the timing story wise, so much as it is character portrayal. I'll have to go back and reread the scenes in question.

Wonderful follow up

Finally we have the follow up to the 1st book and if thw surprises at the start were just an idea then this is the masterplan.
Lots of action and some great levelling up as the wolf pack expands and learns some wonderful new things.
Great reading from 1st to last page as you woukd expect from such great LitRPG authors.

A tale about the expanded universe

I enjoy the detail and world building made in this series and how it gave a side view to events that happened in "Ritualist" reading about Sam, Bill and the rest of the Wolfpack was fun and I found myself staying up late just for one more chapter.

Quirky and satisfying, like most of the books connected to this world.

The plot arc was a little wonky, and I'm not a fan of a character getting 10ish new spells right at the end of the story and the author throwing all of them at the reader all at once

Still a perfectly acceptable installment.

Embrace absurdity and seize POWER!

A sequel even more absurd than the cover suggests the second tale of the Wolfman Warlock exceeds its absurdity only with how enjoyable it was to read. I couldn't put it down.

luxurious-haired chicken farmer

The main character does it again - by breaking convention wherever he finds them, he take himself to new places. And while he is “opposed” to Joe (Completionist Chronicles) in the future, there are more similarities than either of them know.

Another woe is me

Tired of reading about how difficult it is to make a choice to me its the same as whining!! Hate books that are nothing but whinging!! Most of the LIT RPG written by US writers are whiners anyway I will stick with Russian writers from now on!!

Books & floof!

I love these and the completionist chronicle books for the fun they have with the genre. I especially love how epic the damage books end up doing is in these. Can't wait to see floof evolve!

Good read

This is a really fun read. I like the character progression and the unique take on how to gain power. I do feel like it lay be suffered a little bit having a main focus antagonist like the first book. Will definitely get the next one.

Crossing a chicken with a book

A long awaited sequel that doesn't disappoint. Sam returns along with Bill and the rest of the wolf pack as they try to overtake the humans and level up too. There is a lot of funny moments and some recognizable moments from Ritualist too.

Great Reading

It was a little off putting because this story was started before the Ritualistic, so they were there when Joe took down the Mage College. Also the MC is a rich kid that actually has a good work ethic. Can’t wait for the next book.

A big step up!

Originally, after finishing Bibliomancer, I hadn't planned on continuing this series. I'm glad I forgot about that idea. Sam does some crazy stuff, we get to see some of the indirect interaction with Joe's side of the story.

Great weekend read

If someone asked me how I spent this Thanksgiving, it was food, family, movies, and this great book. Perfect read to refresh my batteries between grand kids and delicious ham. Enjoyable from start to finish.

Solid

It had been a while since I read the previous book so it took a little while for all the characters to come back to me. By the end I was getting into it, but then it ended. Bummer.

Afowl of Freaks

This read is a clucking good time. I hate that Sam and Joe are set as nemesi but I love that neither are cookie cutter characters! Keep the hatching these delicious tales!

Better than 1

I loved the ritualist story line and now to see a concurrent story arc makes it even better. I home James and Dakota keep cranking these bad boys out. I want to see what happens to Sam and his Wolfpack when they go to the next realm.
