Manhattan Billionaires #2

Big Bossy Trouble

Rate this book
Billionaire. CEO. Single dad.
And for the next seven days, this arrogant hunk is going to be my boss.

Easy, right?
All I have to do is be a good nanny to Leif Sorensen’s adorable, hell-raising, ballet-loving daughter.
Keep my head down, my hands to myself, and forget about this silly crush I’ve been nursing for the past six years.

So he’s big and blond and he stars in all my not-so-innocent “Hot Viking Ravages Innocent Maiden” fantasies?
Who cares?

Certainly not me.
Nope.

My week-long contract is my ticket out of trouble, and I’m not going to mess it up. This payday is about to solve a lot of my problems.

Then I’ll move on.

Except…Leif has other ideas.
Like, for example, when he tugs me into a spare room and demonstrates how similar his fantasies are to mine.
It’s purely intellectual, of course. We’re just comparing notes.

But when my contract is over, I realize that I might have gotten myself into trouble instead of out of it.

See, I’ve gone and fallen head over heels for my billionaire boss.
And I do it before I realize what he’s hiding from me...

Oh–then I find out I’m pregnant.

Lilian Monroe

Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.

No, wait. That's not true.

Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.

Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.

Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—

I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.

How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.

She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).

An easy romance read with a billionaire single dad and a poor nanny/waitress/event planner and plenty of repetitions. There was some drama and an unexpected pregnancy.

This was such a good story by Lilian Monroe and it happened to be the first book I read by her. I am an instant fan and can't wait to read the rest of the series. Leif and Layla are the cutest couple and their romance was so sweet, authentic, and sexy as hell. It gave me all the feels until the very end. Highly recommend this book to romance fans!

I really enjoyed this book, it is definitely my kind of romance book with the pregnancy trope mixed in.  I wasn't sure at first since the first chapter or two didn't immediately draw me in but as I kept reading it I really got into this story.  I have to say that I really liked Layla's character in the book and honestly reading a lot of contemporary romance sometimes there are moments where I think the actions of the leading characters are a bit ridiculous.  But for Layla, I felt that her actions and responses to her situation were completely understandable.  I enjoyed her point of view more than Leif (sometimes Leif's pov got a bit repetitive) and I really felt for her character and I think that Layla just deserves the world.  She is such a hardworking character that is fiercely protective of her family that sometimes I felt like Leif didn't deserve her.  I mean at the end I'm glad they resolved their issues but I was surprised that I was more satisfied with Layla getting a happy ending that she deserved more than I cared about Leif and Layla getting together.  Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they worked things out and I enjoyed their journey, I'm just really happy that Layla gets a life that she deserves at the end as well because this girl worked so hard.

Leif won all the stars - Layla, on top of having the worst name, is too cliched.

Could this sad sack, dressed-in-literal-rags while wearing the most atrocious, unbelievably ridiculous and worthless footwear in seasonally icy, wet, and freezing weather look more pathetic and poor? It was so over-the-top, and overdone, all to cast Layla in the worst light to dredge up sympathy and pity in Leif and gullible readers. Then, the writer tried giving her a fiery, defensively prickly attitude that she apparently had to develop and bolster to offset and help her deal with all the drudgery, bad luck, and unfair harshness of her life compared and contrasted with Leif's billionaire status.

Don't misunderstand my cynicism; I loved Leif and his energy, sexiness, huge and abundant love for his daughter (and later, for an undeserving Layla). I simply disliked woe-is-me Layla, who very quickly jumped to worst case scenario and forgot all about the unconditional generosity and love Leif showered on not just Layla, but her sister, instead of being a responsible and mature adult who got all the facts before making hurtful, judgmental, vicious accusations and trying to work things out. Leif should have dumped her, or taken her down a notch (or three) from that pulpit she was.preaching from. Grrr - she's the epitome of irritating pet peeves, ever. One and a half stars (Leif was worth three stars, but Layla's slump in rating as a result of her increased immaturity and malice toward Leif took the overall rating down a bunch. So sad, as the cover was amazing, giving a very Viking-like representation of our male hero.

I should have read another book.

This was me, around 200 pages into this book. Wanna know why??

This book is the exact same as the previous one in the series only difference is the names, number of children and jobs.

How lazy is the author? I think the better question should be that How brilliant the author is ? She just put the same old wine in a different label bottle and i dived in just like the other thousands before me.

Pick any one book in the series and you know it all.

I am in a slump i will read anything, but i am not this book series level desperate.

The author over-explains everything. The fem MC is struggling financially, she is amazed by the male MC’s hotness, additionally she feels out of place in his world, and is freaking convinced that he doesn’t see her as a person because he doesn’t recognize her from several years ago. These 4 points have been repeated no less than 20 times together, and I’m only on chapter 12 out of 45 in the audiobook. It’s insane, and is all made worse by the fact that the author added the detail needed to pick up these things on our own as readers, but then also elected to go back and have the fem MC explain the fuck out of everything via inner monologue. Show, don’t tell; not show and tell.

Speaking of the monologuing, it could be the way the narrator is voicing her in the audiobook version, but the fem MC sounds horribly pathetic. I’m not denying she’s had a rough life, and not having money is a pervasive concern, but her entire personality is set around how she’s strapped for cash. There’s nothing that makes her endearing or makes me want to root for her besides the fact she’s a stereotypical underdog. It’s boring. And her fan-girling over the male MC really is too much. So far, I haven’t seen anything to write home about, but that could partially be because I jumped in without reading the first book. Didn’t even know this was a series. Audible is really bad about that.

I think the fem MC feeling convinced the male MC doesn’t see her as a person because he forgot her is stupid. He showed he thought of her as a person by defending her in the first place, and since she’s worked with him, he hasn’t objectified or disrespected her (so far). And why hasn’t she considered the metric ton of make-up she wore and provocative clothing, not to mention the fact they were in a dark bar, might make her a little difficult to recognize YEARS later? Jesus. The ego and lack of self-confidence with this woman is insane.

Anywho, I’m gonna stop listening while I’m ahead. Not my cuppa.

Leif and Layla… swoon! These two are made for each other. Six years ago, she first met him and her life hasn’t been the same since. Meanwhile she is so busy caring for her younger sister and aging grandparents, she’s hardly noticed how to care for herself. When she plans an amazing birthday party for a child she’s the nanny for, she finally catches his eye. A little too late. He needs her help, temporarily filling in for his daughter’s permanent nanny. During that time, on top of her already exhausting schedule she plans another fabulous birthday party for Leif’s daughter. He is blown away by her. He finds it increasingly difficult to separate his attraction to her from the fact she’s his nanny. Leif has been dedicated to separate his work, home & love from intermingling and then Layla crashes through it. After winning the affection of Leif’s daughter and the approval of his socialite mother, Leif has to make a choice, pursue something between them or walk away. He finds he can’t and goes about winning the approval of Layla’s sister and grandparents. Just when everything looks perfect, it all crashes down and both Leif and Layla have to weigh what they want verses what they can have. This book is so good. It’ll make you swoon for sure.

Absolutely had to start this immediately upon finishing book #1 in this series and listened to the 10+ hour-book in one sitting, because Monroe has fully gripped me into this world. I love the characters I’ve already met and I love that they don’t turn out according to my exact predictions. (Pretty much the gist, but things are executed a bit differently, which helps to keep me engaged.)

This book made hours of chores, housework and exercising much more bearable and I cannot wait till one of my libraries makes the next available. Will absolutely be binging on this entire series.

I feel like I’m submerged right into Manhattan’s billionaire community—a place I’m sure I’ll never actually be able to experience, but this way is fun.

I think in the meantime, I’ll return to this authors ‘Heart’s Cover Hotties’ series … where all the female leads are 35+ years old, and living in an adorable small town.

Overall:
4 stars.

AUDIBLE EDITION WAS EXCELLENT!!

Billionaire Leif Sorenson is a single father to 7 year old Isla. He is in need of a Nanny for one week as Isla's regular Nanny has to take a week off. Leif hires Layla Reynolds, whom we first read about in bk1 of the series Big Bossy Mistake.

Layla's mother walked out on her and her sister when she was only 16 years old. Leaving them alone to fend for themselves. Layla took on the responsibility of raising her baby sister with a bit of help from her grandparents. They are so destitute Layla works 3 jobs just to support her and her sister. Her sister is now in college. She is a genius working toward a medical degree at 17 years old.

Layla and Isla get along very well and Leif has these physical attractions to her and soon finds himself totally in love with her. When Leif finds out the poor conditions Layla is living in he brings her and her sister to his Manhattan Penthouse which he uses only on occasion when he is stuck in the city for work. Layla was in love with Leif when they first met 6 years prior in a bar that she was working in. She doesn't think he remembers her.

The story and all the characters are very well written. Leif and Layla have a hot sensual relationship. They also, have a strong working relationship that builds between them over the entire story!

A Little Disappointed in the FMC

I knew I was going to be a little irritated with the FMC when she made a comment about not knowing it was possible to remove a bra with one hand. I'm sorry you're 28 and you dont' know how to take off something you've been wearing for half your life with one hand?! While I enjoyed the FMC in book one, this book's female lead left a bit to be desired. Although willing to do whatever it takes and work as many jobs as needed to ensure the stability and comfort of her family, she was kind of a push over when it came to Leif and in life in general, I mean her 17 year old sister bullied her (in the way siblings do) into doing things despite being 10 years younger than Layla.
I also thought it was strange that she knew this whole time what he did for a living and never once thought to ask him for advice regarding her Grandparent's situation. This whole thing could have been avoided... Also, the pull out method? Are we 12?
Entertaining, but not as good as the first one. Looking forward to Marcus' book though.

Leif and Layla killed it! I loved everything about this book!

𝗕𝗜𝗚, 𝗕𝗢𝗦𝗦𝗬 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗘 is everything I love wrapped up in one pretty book package! It’s a:
🤍 Single dad
🤍 Billionaire
🤍 Opposite side of the tracks
🤍 Forbidden (nanny/employee)
🤍 Accidental pregnancy romance.
There is so much going on but it works.

Leif is a hot AF viking of a man - he’s got it going on and on and on! Layla is down on her luck. Working 3 jobs to keep a roof over her and her sister’s head. My heart went out to her. The attraction between the two is a living, breathing entity and it oozes a sexual tension that I gobbled up. Watching them give into it was glorious! I loved watching the playboy lose his ever loving mind - the restaurant scene will remain engraved in my memory for awhile….

This book kept me glued to my kindle! I’m giving 𝗕𝗜𝗚, 𝗕𝗢𝗦𝗦𝗬 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗘 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

This turned out to be a very cute read with an adorable kid, her handsome father, and a dirt poor nanny. I really loved Leif and Layla together. They really brought out the best in each other. I loved Isla and Layla's relationship and how close they grew. And even though Leif was a bit blind when it came to his daughter's true feelings, he was a great single dad that was all about his little girl.

I loved Layla's grandparents and the stand they took to keep their home. And the grand gesture by Leif, *swoon.* Overall a great read that had the right amount of spice to go along with the plot.

The second in the Manhattan Billionaire series is easy to read and enjoy. I finished this one rather quickly as the author leads a reader through the chapters nicely and it flows well.

Leif is everything we want him to be. Layla fits in this situation nicely. While nothing is unexpected in this read, I did enjoy it.

If you like Billionaire reads, you should enjoy this one.

I enjoyed this engaging and entertaining billionaire romance. There is drama, attraction, characters who are defined, relatable, and likable. Two main characters from different lifestyles come together for another chance at a HEA. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

2nd in fun series I really enjoyed. Great characters, storyline...I love it when the heroines have something more to them than just wanting a HEA. She develops into a star party planner. I also like the families in this one on both sides.
