Featuring a pair of stories focusing on UNIT's NCO, The Benton Files helps to launch Candy Jar's range of UNIT-focused tales to succeed their Lethbridge-Stewart series. Tim Gambrell's Into the Fire features a young Benton's first mission with UNIT, being seconded to it from regular army duties to help an old friend track down an alien menace, giving him a baptism by fire. Tie-in writing stalwart John Peel offers up the fun Car Wars, shifting to a first-person style to let Benton himself tell the story of an encounter with an unlikely group of would-be invaders. The volume might be small with a pair of tales and running 54 pages, but for Doctor Who fans and of Classic Who's UNIT heyday especially, there's plenty to enjoy here.
