Drayveon Walker is touted as one of the most talented players in the history of the game, instrumental in the St. Louis Cyclones’ two championship victories. Benevolent, focused, and driven, he has it all, lacking nothing he could ever want or need.
When Stevie October crashes into his life, Drayveon sees in her something he never realized he desired.
They’ve only just met, but the connection is strong and the feelings are real.
About the author A true southern girl, Alexandria House has an affinity for a good banana pudding, Neo Soul music, and tall black men in suits. When this music-loving fashionista is not shopping, she's writing steamy stories about real black love.
I absolutely adored this book! Technical was such a sweet love story. Stevie and Drayveon fell for each other so quickly in the beginning, I just knew there was going to be tons of drama throughout this book. I kept waiting on Rae and her husband to come with the shyts but, Drayveon nipped that in the bud real quick. There was no need for worry because, there was no drama to be had. Stevie and Drayveon were just two tortured souls who gravitated to one another and helped each other heal. The way they met was surprising but, super cute. I loved their chemistry and their instant attraction was believable from the moment Drayveon opened his door and saw Stevie standing on his front porch. It really was love at first sight for these two. While there was no drama of the relationship kind, there was plenty of family drama. Drayveon's family was such a disappointment. They were a hot ungrateful mess. Well, everyone except Cap. To say I was shocked at OG's behavior is an understatement. Really Granny?!!! I don't even know what to say about Stevie's daddy. That man was a sexist piece of trash and I wanted to fight him. I love that the synopsis doesn't go into a lot of detail on what the book is about so, everything that unfolds is pretty much a surprise. Technical was a phenomenal read. The storyline was engaging and the characters were loveable. If there were ever a couple you'll root for, Stevie and Drayveon are that couple. Get into this book people. I promise you, it's worth every single minute of your time.
First off, if my man don’t go hard for me like Drayveon does for Stevie, I DON’T WANT HIM! Baaaaaaby…..Ms House really outdid herself with this one! This story gave me all kinds of tingles and feels. I don’t know if I’ve come across a story where both the main male and female characters were equally as selfless and genuinely sweet as can be as Drayveon and Stevie!
These two meet in quite an interesting manner, to put it mildly. Their meeting despite the circumstances, was kismet and the attraction was instant. Drayveon had no idea that bearing witness to a woman birthing life would affect him in such a profound way.
Stevie was a newly single mother down on her luck who seemed to not be able to catch a break. Sadly she had no one in her corner besides her best friend. That is until Drayveon selflessly anticipated all of her needs and alleviated her fears. This man y’all….good gracious!
Through the progression of their relationship they both learn so much about themselves, each other, and those around them. Drayveon definitely learned a hard lesson that sometimes the ones closest to you can do you the most harm. Drayveon wanted all the smoke! The way he protected Stevie and their relationship….left me speechless. He didn’t play about his woman! It was extremely commendable.
Drayveon and Stevie despite their differing situations gave each other things that the other lacked. Drayveon had all the riches in the world, but Stevie gave him family and showed him his value outside of materials things. Drayveon provided Stevie with a sense of security and protection.
Despite their troubled pasts, these two turned out all right. I loved how the importance of mental health and seeking therapy was highlighted.
Y’all… I could go on about this book all day!
This is definitely one of my favorite Alex House stories thus far. Drayveon is definitely a top 10 book bae.
Amazing storyline! Amazing character development! The writing was superb! This is a must read! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It baffles me how A. House continues to outdo herself...This was a really a beautifully written story of two (2) flawed and kind people oddly meet and get together almost immediately. From the very beginning Drayveon saw something in Stevie and also realized that she needed help. Dray wanted to be that person to help her, all while falling in love with her and her son Lil' Dray....I love how Dray really gave us true resolution and went down the line putting everyone in their place that had been or was currently a throne in him and Stevie's side. To include OG...her thieving behind really was out of pocket....In fact, his entire family was a mess and he straighten them all out. I guess OG and Cap didn't get along because, Cap was onto OG's shenanigans and she realized it....I caught on when Stevie met the Pastor at the end of the game and relayed a message to Dray from him...that's when Dray realized OG wasn't on the up and up and he had to do something about it and after Thanksgiving dinner all bets were off and Dray exposed his all of his treacherous family members. Wesleigh & Jakobi killed this narration....absolutely OUTSTANDING....This story will definitely on on repeat in my library.
I woke up this morning in the mood for some Alexandria House and chose this audiobook. Loved the story and realized halfway through that this was book 2 🫣😂 (I have not read book one)
This story took my heart, wrapped it in a warm blanket and sat it by a cozy fire ❤️. This was one of THE most heartwarming stories. I’m a huge fan of Alexandria House and this book has climbed its way past other favs of hers. Drayveon displayed the most magical form of unconditional love. Him and Stevie were the definition of opposites attracting. He had everything from a material standpoint that one could ask for but was missing the most important thing… Family. Stevie gave him that in an unconventional way. I could be critical of certain parts of the story but I’m in no place to judge even if it is a book character because Stevie’s story is the story of real life women. I’m just happy that despite their own individual pain and trauma they were receptive of the love that they had to give the other. The humor and drama was just right. They both had their fair share of shady family members….. just trifling. OG took the cake and I’m sorry but she wouldn’t have been able to ever darken my doorstep again grandmother or not. I hope we get a few cameos from Dray and Stevie in future books.
My cheap azz has waited forever to read this book because it wasn't on KU, well the joke is on me because it was worth EVERY penny I paid for it and Drayveon is hands down my favorite Cyclone!
Y'all, I just loved Drayveon! He was a tall, fine, famous basketball player but I was mostly in love with his heart. He was living his content oblivious rich azz life, funding the lives of his entire family while rotating OLD heauxs like a damn merry go round, while trying to steer clear of his past trauma. A crazy life-changing interaction with the beautiful Stevie throws him for a loop. Even though she seems to be going through a rough time and definitely isn't checking for him, he is drawn to her. He could not get her or her sweet gift out of his mind. Drayveon was definitely singing 🎶I'll give you the sun, the moon, the stars, and the mountains....I'll give you the woooorld🎶 and Stevie was like why? She was so confused as to why he was being so generous to her. In general he was a giver and it was shown by how well he took care of everyone around him, but with Stevie he WANTED to take care of her. He didn't feel obligated and SHE was actually grateful. It really felt like he experienced love at first sight because he started moving differently and he kept showing up for her whenever he felt her experience the slightest discomfort. He was literally everything, and I enjoyed feeling them fall for each other.
Drayveon's family was hot trash. The most selfish azz people ever. I get it be protective, but also mind your fking business and stay in your lane. Nef would have had to stay on ice for a lot longer than she did because her words were crazily demeaning to the trauma he experienced. Stevie's father was a piece of 💩His self righteousness and audacity were WAY too much for me and he deserved at least a punch in the mouth.
I could go all day, but you know a book is TOO GOOD when you find yourself smiling like you really know these people lol. The sweet gesture he made for Stevie at the end sent me swooning. Sn: I think I have an unhealthy obsession with Big South because every time he comes on the page I'm fan girling like this man is a real celebrity. A. House you writing these characters too good !
If you are late to the party like me do yourself a favor and read this book, you won't be disappointed.
Refreshing... I tend to have a love-hate relationship with the angst in my #BlackRomanceNovels, so it's always refreshing when the love comes easy...
This book was a nice change with a solid couple who knew what they wanted and they loved hard. Don't worry the conflict is there for the jaded souls amongst us lol. Family drama is not lacking...
@msalexhouse delivers as usual with well developed characters, humor and tears. 5⭐s #HighlyRecommend
Disclaimer- My aim in writing reviews is not to retell the story or rewrite the synopsis. I want to simply give my opinion on the characters, the writing and if I think the story of worth your time.
I have read and loved many books by this author, but the trope is getting a little stale and predictable as all the books have wealthy famous men who become smitten with women who are poor or insecure, have children, are alone and traumatized, etc. I would like to see stronger female characters personally. Just my opinion.
Sometimes a Black Woman needs to believe in fairy tales and happily everafters and Sometimes a Black Man needs to make them come true!! He wasn't expecting the delivery on his doorstep but she gave Dreveyon something he didn't know he needed everyone wanted a piece of him but she settled his spirit and brought him piece he gave her unconditional love and happiness without any expectations but to be her and giving him that bought her more than she could dream of because technically isn't that all we seek? Plus hot sex and laughter and drama!!
Technical was beautiful. The love story happened so smoothly, so quick, so drama free, and I loved it. But this drama-free love story didn't come without the drama. Although not extremely heavy, the drama was still there. It really do be your own people. Your own family. Stevie and Drayveon connected instantly. Their first meeting was quite interesting. But it was such a treat to watch (read) them fall in love cause they fell hard. Drayveon’s past is pretty traumatic from his abusive father to his mother dealing with mental illness to his own dark past. He loved his family so so much. He loved them so much so that he hired them. We all know we don’t hire family, we don’t work for them or with them. But Drayveon had to find out the hard way. But his heart was so beautiful. Even in the betrayal, he still had love for his family. Stevie’s life was ok until she lost her mother. She was an amazing violinist like her mother, who taught her. But as life was doing its thing, she kinda lost the music. Being raised by a chauvinist, misogynist, sexist, and a bigot for a father and a deadbeat ex played a big part, and her confidence also seems to have taken a hit. It seemed like it was hard for her to accept love. But Drayveon never failed to show her through words and action. Their journey was extremely sweet, and I loved every page.

Amazing storyline! Amazing character development! The writing was superb! This is a must read! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
3.75!! the story just moves so unrealistically fast like slow downnn 😩😩 but i love them both so bad. naming her baby after him was a little wild but yk what imma let you have it stevie! i love seeing a woman be adored and cared for and spoiled like i love a man who is just head over heals for his woman. his grandma stealing from him..? oh! it was just so much happening in this story from stevie to the grandma to the brother like SLOW DOWNNNNNN. that’s really my only complaint i wish it was a bit longer and more drawn out

Technical is the second book in the St. Louis Cyclones series following heroes on the same basketball team. Technical CAN be read as a standalone.
Drayveon and Stevie had one of the best meet cutes ever! Drayveon is one of the top players on the St. Louis Cyclones basketball team. Stevie is a pregnant single mom trying to make quick money by doing food deliveries. Stevie is called to deliver food to Drayveon’s house, and on his doorstep, she literally goes into labor, and ends up having a quick labor and delivering her baby in one of his spare rooms prior to the ambulance showing up. Needless to say, this was not how Drayveon expected to spend his night, but now that he’s met Stevie and helped her bring her son into the world…he can’t stop thinking about them.
I loved how great of a man the hero was. Stevie was ashamed to tell him that she was down on her luck, but Drayveon was not trying to hear it. When I tell y’all he showed up for Stevie and her son, he showed UP. Whether it was material things, or emotional support, the hero became the partner and father that Stevie absolutely deserved. There was just something that drew the two of them to each other. Watching their romance quietly blossom was beautiful to watch. Their unexpected family unit was adorable and, despite the family drama from Drayveon’s side, I was rooting for them the entire time. Drayveon never let anyone disrespect his woman, and I was HERE for it.
Definitely one of my favorite reads from this author!
TROPES: black romance/BIPOC/OWN voices; single mom; basketball hero; rich hero; reformed playboy; hero/heroine with traumatic pasts; greatest meet cute ever; found family; violinist heroine; family drama; mental health rep; no 3rd act breakup
TRIGGER WARNINGS: parent with schizophrenia, episodes mentioned on page and in brief flashbacks; domestic abuse (briefly seen on page in flashback – not between H/h)
I love me so Drayveon and Stevie and little DrayDray. Overall 5 out of 5 stars Performance 5 out of 5 stars Story 5 out of 5 stars
Drayveon Walker has been on my mind since we first meet him back in the McClain Brothers series (bk #2). Drayveon is a well-known basketball star in his home town of St. Louis. He also employee his family in key positions in his career and private life. He did not have an easy past but his future was looking brighter after meeting one Stevie October.
Stevie was strong determined and independent. But everyone need someone at some point in their life. She never expected to be need someone one so much when out doing her food deliveries. Stevie and Drayveon soon finds that they both need each other for different reasons and in different ways but still producing a satisfactory outcome. Both have to open their eyes to family. Not all family is good family. Some family is better than no family will be impactful to them both in different yet the same ways.
I loved this story. I will have it on my repeat list for some time.
Jakobi Diem and Wesleigh Siobhan make a perfect duo team. They both deliver believable characters. And allow for you to make a deeper connection with both the primary and secondary characters.
There was one main things that left me questioning in this story. Stevie's father. What did he do to her or better yet what did he do to the money her mother left?
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining Easy-to-read Romantic Wonderful characters Page-turner Steamy
Technically the story was an A. House masterpiece. Dray was a teammate of Leland McCain, so we were able to see our favorite Cyclone in the distance. Polo and Big South made an appearance as well. This one was about Dray, his demons, and his family issues. The story was also about him finding the piece to complete the missing parts within his soul. Stevie was the right amount of goodness to quell Dray's old lady desires. The initial meeting between Dray and Stevie was horrifying and hilarious at the same time. The writing and storytelling were excellent. It was a pleasure to meet these characters and hear their tale.
This was such a breath of fresh air after Flagrant (which I loved). As always, AH gave us a story with deeper issues that sure surrounded by chemistry, love, and laughs. I enjoy reading about other characters of hers that we love. Great job.
I enjoyed this!! Was it a lil unrealistic? Yeah but the spice and the cuteness really warmed my heart can't lie. The audiobook chewed downnnnnnnnnn. Like aight period! 🤭
Literally from beginning to end this was an insane ride- and was very insta-lovey but aye you know what if the characters like it i love it turn up LMAOOO. I love how emotionally aware Alexandria House books are though. Therapy is constantly mentioned, the characters have real emotions and real unique issues. I enjoyed this overall.
Drayveon and Stevie!!!! These two beautiful souls are the absolute truth!
Stevie October is pregnant, alone, and currently a delivery food driver. As Stevie delivers the food to Drayveon's home the unthinkable happens, her water breaks, and right there in one of his spare bedrooms she delivers her son.
Drayveon Walker, Basketball extraordinaire, philanthropist to everybody and prefers being single. So when he opens his door to the food deliverer, he wasn't expecting this beautiful woman, who is very pregnant and her water breaks in front of him.
The story of Drayveon and Stevie is arguably (IMO) the best couple in 2023, hands down. I know their story came out almost 2 years ago (hey I have a long TBR list) LOL! But as I am getting around to my back lists, their story knocked me off my feet. I absolutely loved them, rooted hard for them and they came together like moths drawn to a flame.
Drayveon and Stevie went from being two lonely souls to a happy family of three with Lil Dray, Dray. I just love them.
Standing ovation to author Alexandria House for this gem because I know Drayveon and Stevie's story will be repeatedly read for me.
“One thing about it, I ain’t letting no one make Stevie feel uncomfortable. Especially in her own home.”
Alexandria be writing!! This book was so good. The sex scenes be making me feel 🥰🥵🔥😈. My girl suck the soul out that boy 😂. Alexandria gonna make sure we never starve for a good sex scene and characters that have a story to tell.
Baby the way Dray went up for Stevie and little dray is what the hell I’m talking about. Had me over smiling hard as hell. Both of them deserved this kind of love after everything they both went through before each other and after meeting. I’m so happy that Stevie had this musical side to her. Dray made sure his woman got right because clearly music is her passion as well.
One thing for sure and two things for certain, Alexandria is going to make sure us readers are ready to lay hands on the MCs family. Stevie dad and stepmom pure trash. The fact that woman was okay with how he treated his daughter let me all i needed to know. Now OG was pissing me off from jump. Can’t stand how family/people think they are entitled to something ,$$$, they didn’t help get. I’m so happy Dray was smart with what he did to let them all know at that bs “intervention” what was up. Family or not wrong is wrong.
I liked this a whole lot better than the first one. Dre is so adorable how he treats Stevie. As for Dre’s family minus his brother Cap, f*ck them especially OG and Neff. Other than that, I enjoyed this story so much!! Ready for book 3 of the Cyclones!
Absolutely perfect, I mean chef’s kiss to A. House on this one. This book ate me up. Beautiful, spicy, swoon worthy. I just don’t even know what to say besides I loved this book down BAD!
I wasn't expecting such a sweet love story from this book. This couple met in the most unconventional way and it was really love at first sight. Dray and Stevie was the perfect couple. 💜
So far, Technical has been my favorite Alexandria House book! Set and Kareema used to be my favorite AH couple, but Stevie and Drayveon are first place now. There's just something so refreshing about a black woman and a black man loving each other for who they are. They both know each other's secrets, their lowest points, and their regrets... and they don't care. Dray being in a position to have anyone he wants and still choosing the single mother that most would cast aside and call "damaged goods" made my heart happy. I also loved that he nipped it in the bud any time someone tried to disrespect his woman. That's how black love should look. Both of their families irritated me. Especially OG. At times, she didn't treat him like a grandson. She acted more like she was his woman. It seemed like Bria and Cap were the only ones who truly had their backs. Honestly, though, their connection was so strong, they'd still be okay if no one else supported their love but them. I laughed out loud several times at the convo between Dray & Stevie. In the beginning, they were so careful not to offend the other and it came across as a cute, high school love. I'll probably re-read this one several times. It's such a feel-good story.
TECHNICAL: Book 2 of the St. Louis Cyclones Series
If you haven’t purchased your copy of Technical by Alexandria House, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! I basically read it in one sitting (stopped for a quick date night dinner) and came back home to finish and now what am I going to do?
Drayveon is my new book bae, I mean he done surpassed Neil and Leeland McClain y’all and I thought I’d never get another book bae like them…wait…Drayveon is even up there with Shu (IYKYK 😍)! That was the one but now this one is too and oh my.
Alexandria House did it again! She starts it off with a bang, I mean takes us right there and doesn’t let up! Drayveon and Stevie are the EPITOME of Kismet. The way these two were drawn to one another is swoon worthy and I love their love. If you’re all I need to get by was a couple, it’d be them.
AND if nothing else, I’ve got a new found love and appreciation for headphones 😉 !
