First, If you are looking for books to truly guide you to finding your life purpose, this book ain't it.

I wasn't enamoured at all with this book, not as much as other people were. In fact I disliked it. ALOT. It read like a whole load of feel-good fluff without much substance to back it up. The author started off with quite an interesting and touching story about her childhood, but that was all abandoned a quarter of the way in. Lots of cloying name-dropping/eating at expensive places/travelling to exotic places etc and what was confusing was the chapters all seemed like rambling extensions of each other. None had a proper theme, although it may be titled a certain way, and most if not all devolved into feel-good uplifting spiritual toxic positivity. I'm clearly not the target audience cause I'm way over the feel-good stuff, having read it for years.

She clearly faces alot of challenges along the way, but she glosses over the practical bits in a sort of spiritual "everything will be fine" way. Too much of flowery, abstract language as well to describe the most banal things, throughout the entire book usually left me wondering what she was trying to say. Any and all types of "accidents" or "challenges" like falling down could be spun into an "OMG, this is it. This is what our souls came to earth for. To overcome each and every challenge, to see the lessons within. With this fall, I can now feel my soul lifting, out of my body, transcending the human experience" (Yes I made this up but you get the drift). Dramatic much?

Also I'm not sure whether some things weren't explained properly, but she just upped and decided to divorce her husband (who seemed like a kind man who didn't mistreat her, from what she shared) after experiencing an "enlightenment" shortly after her dad's death. And explained it as a "Those were marriage vows I took when I was a different person yearssss ago, now I am completely changed and this is not what I want anymore, so bye." First, I side-eye anyone who takes marriage vows like that so lightly and secondly, it just left me with an even worse impression of the author. This is definitely NOT someone I'd be taking any life advice from. As it certainly sounds like she hasn't truly healed herself, no matter how spiritual and successful she is or claims to be.

Took me over a month to finish this cause it was too boring and pretentious, and I scanned through the last 4 chapters. I also realised abit too late in, that it was a Hay House publication. If I had paid more attention at first I wouldn't even have picked it up, as my experience with Hay House is their books are usually filled with (poorly edited) rambly spiritual toxic positive feel-good stuff with little to no practicality to back any of it up. Which kind of sums up this book for me. One star for the can-be-uplifting quotes sprinkled throughout.

To be honest, I bought this book without knowing that how amazing the impact of this book is.
Jessica has successfully brought me to realisation that having a purpose in life we need to be true to ourselves first.

During reading this book, I cannot stop doing a checklist on to my own life, have I doing this or not? Am I being avoidant this far? and many other questions popped up into my head. Purpose, is not about having things that become a heavy burden, but the true purpose is having something that open you up into more blessing, more opportunity, more tranquility, more connected to your true self and to God. I learn about healing, that it is an ongoing process and it can happen for the rest of our life, healing is not a one stop doing or action.

This book amazingly showed us that having purpose and meaning in life is not about doing actions, but it is a state of being. If you're looking for something that can help you to open up your self to become soul-conscious (not only self-conscious) this book is the right choice. You would never want to put it down before you understand why this chapter is telling you this. You will understand more about yourself, what is your purpose and you will seek connection to the universe, to God, and you will learn the concept of a whole-being.

Jessica is a brilliant author, she's not showing us a perfect life, instead she encourages us to be vulnerable and embrace love over fear.

I found Jessica’s authenticity refreshing and her journey an inspiration. This book has made me reflect on pivotal moments of my life and to view them through different lenses. This book might not be for everybody but if you have an open heart and believe in - or are searching for - a deeper meaning of life then I would definitely recommend this book to you. It is one I already want to read again to ensure I carry the inspiration and learning forwards in to my life.
