Weekend Warrior is my first read from author Alexandra Isobel. This book delves into the difficult relationship between an overwhelmed, overworked and underappreciated mother and her part-time just doesn't get it warrior husband. I found myself frustrated during the reading of this book because her husband just can't grasp how overwhelmed his wife is as she carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. She makes up her mind to return to her childhood home to take time for herself to decompress and re-focus on her life priorities. She's leaving her husband with their five kids for a short time, but her clueless husband can't handle the kids without his wife. He has the nerve to call in his mom to help to deal with his kids while he follows his wife on her solo getaway. What the what? How can a Navy SEAL be so proficient on his special operation missions, but so dumb when it comes to dealing with his wife's needs? As a wife and mother who knows the feeling of being overwhelmed with caring for everyone else's needs, this book definitely touched some nerves. This is a good read for all the nurturers whose needs are either overlooked or not at all understood.

Mary Jane is one heck of a woman, and she sure keeps the SEAL on his toes. I can understand her frustration, Thomas is such a “guy”...lol. What would men do without women!? Poor Thomas couldn’t survive ONE SINGLE day with the children!, to quote him,(not words for wirds)..”combat is easier than managing his 5 children and a dog, basically his household “. No wonder his wife sued him! the book is full of humor and you cannot help loving the Perkins’s family and friends. The children are riots. love it!
Thomas made his wife pregnant, by mistake. Mary Jane was thoroughly annoyed with him when she found out since she was finally getting her life back on track where she would have some "me time." When Thomas gets back from the field, MJ takes off for some time to think over her current predicament, making Thomas work hard to get back into her good graces.
The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline has everything and more that a great read has to have to make the storyline flow smoothly.

Mary Jane thought she was getting her life back for her own when her baby twins were almost school age. But, as it would happen an unexpected pregnancy happened that threw a monkey wrench in her plans and set them back for years. She blamed her fertile husband who did not shoot any blanks. How could she sue her husband for “wrongful pregnancy and breach of contract?”
Navy Seal, Senior Chief Thomas Perkins was thrown in a clusterf**k. He loved his family and one more child was fine with him. He did not understand what was going on with his wife when he walked in the front door after being gone on a mission for a month, and Mary Jane walked out of the front door. He was determined to keep his wife and family and help M.J. as much as possible because she was his life. He finally got a taste of what she was going through and understood what was happening with her and did what any loving husband would do.
This was a quick easy read story, highlighting what happens in a marriage when one partner is at a crossroads and how a strong relationship handles it.
This book was hilarious! Ms Isobel, I love all of your books but you really went all out with this one! A great read. I could understand Mary Jane’s anger. She and Thomas already had five kids and he promised to pull out but didn’t and now number 6 is coming. She is suing him for Breach of Contract!!! LOL. There are so many funny and light hearted…and serious moments in this short book you will definitely laugh.
Cute story. Once upon a time, (Thomas & Mary Jane) young teen sweethearts now married for 10 plus years hit a snag in their love story when the hero comes home only to be servied with breach of contract papers for wrongful pregnancy from his wife as she walks out the door leaving him to take care of their five children. This was a fresh take on a tried and true trope. The conversation that Maisey had with her dad was hilarious. Recommended: Read It!
Point of view and communication are vital as we see in this riveting novella! I was drawn to both protagonist’s perspectives, and really cared about them as characters. So well written!
