The competition between the Scions of Safaia and the Ancient Cavern Beast Furea is about to begin.
Thrown into the tournament, Roy finds that there are more than a few challengers who outclass him. The secret to victory lies between the pages of an ancient book and newly-awakened senses he does not fully understand.
All the while, a sinister voice not belonging to Geon whispers in his mind.
The tournament will test Roy and his allies as never before and with the fate of the continent on the line, they will need to advance, or be washed away in the tide of carnage that will follow.
It was great to see all of the characters grow even more and to watch the plot thicken. Roy is finally coming into his power as a martial artist and starting on his role as the clan head. I can't wait to see more of Snarl and his team. Especially the 2 members connected to Roy and Aika. The story just keeps getting better and I can't get enough! Waiting for the next book with baited breath! Keep up the good work Aaron!
An Ancient Cavern Beast has awakened on Roy’s continent
Furia could be the end for all living on this continent as Furia is stronger than all the human Scions and the continents only hope is to appeal to the Beasts natural sense of competition. Once an agreement is reached, it’s up to the Red belt competitors to free their master Furia or defeat his minions and seal him for another age. Roy and his team grow stronger at fast pace as they enter areas strong in their elements to cultivate and train. However, Roy’s father, Duncan (Scion of the Herald clan), and Hermit, Roy’s teacher, both make him not progress from base Red belt so as to be a surprise for the Beast teams. As Roy is lot truly the weakest on his team, but they have the advantage as long as the Beasts continue to discount him. He just has to be strong enough and disciplined enough to hold his aces in check until they will have the most impact. Sadly for the Beast Dia, a Supreme & higher Dan Red belt, she picked on Roy one too many times and when he decides to let his real strength show, she won’t believe his strength until her team leader Snarl saves her life.
Give 2 and half of 5 stars as was OK but not Great.
Some reasons say this. # will start by saying Ferry is best girl in this book by far . - I also really like her personality & way she thinks. (She is a sweet heart.) Hope author not ruin her with so called maturity as way she act is ration considering what she is and fun read usually. #. Aika and Roy's interactions felt forced and unnecessary most time. Made for uncomfortable & often unpleasant reading. (Sorry) #. Being fun engaging bubbly & full of life & wonder is not being childish. (As book makes seem like it as.) #. In early book said ferry could not go into dungeon because she used be dungeon boss and would make dungeon go crazy yet now can, without explaining why can.?? #. Don't know about the offer spirits (want to though. ) but the spirit of power is cool.
These are just a few reasons gave score did and my personal opinions on this book, the action and main fun book not start until around 70% in. (Do worry about how many books in this series hope not too many that become boring.)
In the next step along on the path, Darkness is a fitting installment in the series. If the last review I left and the following results were anything to go by, I would say that the next book after book 8 may end being even longer. Here’s to hoping that comes true.
P.S. if the author reads this review this is a reminder to take care of yourself. Overextending oneself is a path to failure, something you obviously know going off of your writing. We all need to be reminded of things we already know sometimes, speaking from experience.
Overall, this was a good, full book. My only questions are that if implanting fragments of powerful beings is bad, then why did Doragon implant the Oni in Roy? Also on the topic of implanting powerful beings, how did Aika manage to extract a portion of an Ancient Cavern Beast. On top of that, how did Aika even get access to the Ancient Cavern Beast? Hopefully these questions will be answered in the next book! Look forward to reading it!
This series has been a fun journey for me, and surprising me with each book. The next book is only a little over a month out, which is great - I won’t have to wait long for a fix.
The great part of this series is it continues to raise the stakes, and from the previous book the stakes couldn’t be higher… so I’m excited to see where it leads.
This is a great series, and A great follow-up to Earth in the Buryoku series the competition for Safaia has started how does Roy's team measure up to the other teams? Do the humans stand a chance of saving their lives and those of the rest of Humanity? Find out in this terrific follow-up in this new & exciting Book in the Buryoku series.
Pretty nice book, wish the final labyrinth stuff was a bit more interesting, and we got more world building in each book. If you're reading this review and haven't reviewed, please do that. Then we can get longer books.
An excellent series by an excellent writer. Darkness picks up where Earth left off and maintains a pretty good action packed story without feeling too crazy. Highly recommend this book if you liked to pretend you were a Z fighter as a kid
Fun read. There was action, humor, steady progression, and character development. By far my favorite Oster series, I am looking forward to the next installment. I will say this series is a tie, in my mind, with Wight's and Wong's. Thanks Aaron.
Another great installment with quite the cliffhanger! If the next one wasn’t due out so soon I might have been a little frustrated, but quite looking forward to the next book.
Absolutely amazing. Hated cliffhangers and can't wait fo read more. Roy has had so much character development but don't know how you are going to handle having so many different powerful factors in the book
Captivating fight scenes & buildup as always. One feels that the game is inexorably heading to it's finale...but not in the next couple of books I hope! We need more.
I love cultivation and litrpg. This series stands out because the growth being belts and colors. I love the originality and character growth. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
This books covers 4 rounds of the contest. The last stage remains. Good power grown for Roy though I would have liked him to go to Gold. He is close though. Next book is comming soon.
Twists and turns never ends in this series. I'm looking forward to spend time in Buryoku and learn more about it's secrets. It's fast paced with well developed characters with lots of intrigue.
