Her family thinks Windy is a flighty accident waiting to happen. But with more at stake than herself, she needs to put her creativity to the test and prove them wrong.
Is there such thing as too much independence?
Kris is a private man of few words, but somehow Windy broke through his defenses. He’d like to be more than a friend, but that would mean revealing his secret.
Will he trust Windy with what he’s kept hidden?
And if he does, will she view him as someone worth building a life with?
Only the cardinal can say for sure.
Return to 1970 Indiana with Windy, the third book in The Weather Girls series for some peace, love, and Christian family values.
You will love Windy, the final book in The Weather Girls trilogy, because everyone knows the sweetest love is the one we wait for.
Hi there! My name is Jenny though I write Christian Historical Romance under the name Jennifer Lynn Cary. I enjoy sharing God-centered stories of love, forgiveness, and redemption. And romance, gotta have romance. I'm a retired teacher about to celebrate forty years with the same wonderful guy, the mother of three beautiful and brilliant young women who married three handsome, intelligent young men and gave me three amazing grandchildren. And, sorry (not sorry), this Mimi loves to brag on them. You've been warned. Besides reading, I love to crochet and bake (if someone else will clean), and travel. I've even been to Ireland and stood in the ruins of where my great, great, great grandfather's great, great grandparents were married. That was a trip--pun intended. Feel free to follow me for updates on my writing and to sometimes get a glimpse of this crazy writing life. You can also visit my website for more information: https://www.jenniferlynncary.com/ Hope to see you there! BTW, if you want to see my official bio, here it is.
Jennifer Lynn Cary likes to say you can take the girl out of Indiana, but you can't take the Hoosier out of the girl. Now transplanted to the Arizona desert, this direct descendant of Davy Crockett and her husband of forty years enjoy time with the family where she shares tales of her small town heritage and family legacies with their grandchildren.
This has been a fun series set in 1970. This book brings back so many memories of the era, such as the unpopular Vietnam War and the attempts to avoid the draft by going to Canada. There are fun memories too, like the songs mentioned and still using pins on diapers.
Several issues are explored within the context of a well told story. God redeeming mistakes of the past is a big one as Windy has a baby conceived outside of marriage. While that may be the most important issue in the novel, there several more, such as feeling the pain of abandonment caused by a parent with mental issues and dealing with embarrassing inabilities. God's grace and mercy and redeeming love are well shown in this novel.
Windy is the youngest of the Day sisters and her story finishes out the series. This novel would be best appreciated if the previous stories were read first. Each one of them is entertaining and encouraging women's fiction.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
I am very sad for this series to end. The three sisters have become friends and I feel like I have watched them grow up before my eyes. Our last visit is with Windy. She has been through a lot but I’m happy that her precious baby girl is now here. Windy’s life is changed forever as she takes a look at those innocent eyes and knows what unconditional love is.
Windy is trying so hard to do everything on her own, but at some point she needs to ask for help. It’s not easy raising a baby on your own but Windy seems determined that she can do it. I wonder what she is trying to prove? The author jars readers with an unexpected visitor. I was so shocked I gasped when the person was revealed. This is going to change so many lives. Oh I couldn’t wait to see when the fireworks would start in the family. Well done to the author for putting in a clever plot twist.
I love the time period of the 70s and the author does a great job of having the characters recreate the 70s vibe. I cracked up when Kris’s cousin comes to visit. He is dodging the draft and having a good time smoking pot. Kris is not happy with his cousin and sure gets mad when he starts to talk to Windy. Boy does Kris have it bad for her. The banter between him and Windy is entertaining and I enjoyed watching them pick at each other. If only the trouble his cousin has gotten into doesn’t come back on Kris, maybe be can concentrate on his future.
The conflict between sisters and other family members escalates as a painful past is discussed. I liked the raw emotions from each of the sisters as they shared their heart. Windy realizes she needs to soften her heart and asks God for help. Her honesty is painful but she knows she needs to forgive a certain person.
The story flows very well as Kris and Windy get to know each other better. There is still another surprise heading Windy’s way that will find several people questioning their future. The ups and downs in the story show how broken relationships can heal with God’s help. I am very sad to say goodbye to the girls but the author leaves us with a beautiful story filled with laughter, miracles and a family that has grown together with unconditional love.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Windy is the third and final book in The Weather Girls trilogy. While you might be okay reading this as a standalone, I feel like this is definitely one that is best enjoyed reading as a series in order. There is a lot of background given about the family and the sisters in each book, and each one picks up shortly after the other left off, so you really are going to get the most complete picture by reading it as a whole. I had personally really enjoyed the series up to this point, and found myself looking forward to Windy's story most of all.
For those alive in the 70s, there are definitely a lot of reference to pop culture and fashion and such that I think you will enjoy--- this being long before my time, I caught a few, but I know there were many more that I didn't personally understand. Regardless, the author did a good job of transporting readers back in time and creating a fun story that I so enjoyed reading. While I'm not sure I was quite ready to say goodbye to these sisters just yet, it was a good end to the series. If you enjoy historical fiction, this is certainly one to check out--- after reading the first two books first, of course!
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
I felt like I’d walked in on a conversation that had already started. I was totally lost at first. Some series you can read willy-nilly but this one clearly needs some background before each book. Overall it was an enjoyable story once I became oriented to the situation. I will probably go back now and read the other two. I laughed when I read each girl’s names. The mother stated she never should have let her husband pick the names. And with their last name of Day….Windy Day, Sunny Day, and Stormy Day. Windy, brought up in the church, is an unwed mother but she dearly loves her little girl Heather. She sees Heather as a miracle rather than a mistake. She and her sisters own a bridal consulting business where they help brides plan their weddings complete with venues, food, photos and dresses. I enjoyed getting to know each sister and all the characters were fun to read. A crisis or two, romance at its best and family situations all added to the enjoyment of the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.
The Weather Girls: Windy " by Jennifer Lynn Cary is Book 3 in this new series. I had the honor to read the first 2 books in this series and was excited to have the opportunity to read the Final book in the Trilogy.
We are back in the 1970's and this book focuses on the 3rd Sister, Windy. Windy is known to the family as the "riskiest" Sister of the 3. She is determined to prove her family wrong and enjoy her independence. Windy is looking for her True Love, someone to love her for life. Windy has a friend, Kris, who would like to be more then a friend, but he also has a secret that he hides. He isn't sure he is ready to reveal that secret to Windy as he feels it would destroy his chances at LOVE with Windy. Will Windy find her true love in life? Will Kris be the ONE?
WOW, I really enjoyed this story. Windy is a strong and independent Woman. The friendship between Kris and herself was very special and I LOVE how she was able to get him to come out of his "shell". The book is filled with plenty of Humor and at points I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. I am sad this this series has come to an end. I will definitely read all the books in the series again! I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who likes good Clean Christian Romance and a step back in history! GREAT BOOK!
This is the third book in the series. It's so good! It's hard to have this trilogy end, but it's an amazing one and this book focuses on Windy. As before, we get more of the 70's which is still groovy if you ask me. Windy is the most outgoing of her sisters, a real "free sprit" sometimes. Faith themes show how God mends broken relationships, and I didn't want this to end. It would be so good as a mini-series on TV. It makes me think about freedom and making good choices, this book. I really liked it.
My digital copy came from Celebrate Lit. This review is mine and it contains what I think about this book. A positive review is not required.
Windy is the third installment from Jennifer Lynn Cary’s series, The Weather Girls. I enjoyed the first two books, Sunny and Stormy, and was excited to get my hands on this one. I thought this was an entertaining and delightful story to read. I enjoyed the humor sprinkled throughout. I never knew what was going to happen to Windy next. Kris and Windy’s tale were fun to read and I thought they had good chemistry together. This one is probably my favorite of the series.
I am giving Windy a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical fiction. I am hoping there will be another installment from The Weather Girls series to be released soon.
I received a digital copy of Windy from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Windy is the youngest sister of the Day girls and she gets her story in this third and final story. When I think of historical books, I don't often think of the 1970's, no I usually think farther back. However, this whole series takes the reader to the 1970's and the culture, the slang, and what the hot topics for the day was. Author Cary brought the 70's to life for me in the story of these three sisters.
Windy has a lot on her plate. Being the youngest she feels she has something to prove. She is also an unwed mother now that her own daughter Heather is born. Windy is determined to make sure that Heather has a different experience through her childhood. Windy will not abandon Heather like her own mother did her and her sisters.
Kris is a guy that Windy knows is dependable. He is not the father of her child but he is the guy she is falling for and and has a strong sense that she can trust. Kris is dealing with his own family issues especially his parents push for him to go to college. Kris likes working with his hands and he is a very accomplished artisan, besides that he has a pretty big secret he is keeping from everyone.
This story is full of family drama especially when a couple of people come back that turns the Day family upside down and makes them question what they should do in the future. This was a good story of three sisters finding their happily ever after's and reconciling with the past.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
The Weather Girls: Windy is written by Jennifer Lynn Cary. This is book three in the Weather Girls series. I have read the whole series and I would recommend that you do. The series covers three sisters from their point of view. Windy is the youngest sister. This book is set in the 1970’s. The author did a great job capturing the time period perfectly.
Windy has had a child out of wedlock. During this time period that was a huge No-no. Windy wants to try and do everything on her own without the help of others. She wants to prove she can be a single mom. Kris, who is the handyman around for their property is so tender and loving toward Windy and her child.
There are a lot that is uncovered in the series finale that is mentioned in the first two books. I was happy to uncover some of the hurt and pain that the sisters have gone through. I felt the finale brought the sisters stories full circle.
I’ve enjoyed getting to know this family. The sister bond has me missing my own sisters. I live 800 plus miles away. This series has become one of my favorites to read.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program. All thoughts are my own.
What a fun series! I’m loving spending time in the past with this family and learning more about the girls and their unique personalities.
I have loved getting to know the Day sisters. And I’m sad to see the series end. Couldn’t there be more than three sisters? How about some long lost cousins? Windy is a free spirit. She’s had trials and tribulations in her life and no one thinks she has enough grit and determination to make much of herself. Now she has to show them who she truly is.
The whole series is great but this one might be my personal favorite.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
This was a fun series and getting to know these characters has been fun. This is the third and final book and although I am sure some of you could pick it up and read as a stand alone this is one of those series you want to read from the beginning so you can get to know these characters. The previous books give you the background about the family and the sisters.
The author does a great job at transporting readers into the 70's era and creating a fun story that keeps you engaged. It was sad to say good-bye to these characters but the author does a great job at ending the series without leaving you hanging. If you enjoy historical fiction and relieving certain decades then this is the series for you.
I received a copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Series: The Weather Girls, #3 of 3 Format: Kindle e-book Challenge Prompt: EOW’s “a book from a boxed set or collection of novellas” (ANYTIME option) — #3 from a boxed set
Book #101 of 2025: This was my second favourite of the three books. The first one was the one that I liked best. This one felt slow in the first half but was much better in the latter half.
Windy is the youngest sister. She is a sweet person and dedicated mother. She works hard to provide. Kris is a very likeable MMC that wins you over with his sincerity. The twist of the sisters’ Mom coming back into their lives was both difficult and rewarding.
I was glad to see the ending play out as it did. It was the responsible and right path.
I didn’t care for the corny names or the cardinal aspect for Christian fiction.
I have the Kindle “boxed set” but have them entered individually on Goodreads to have an accurate book count.
I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series and was ready for this one. I’ve grown to love the characters and am sad to see the series ending. Windy is a good character and differs from her sisters in lots of ways.
I believe you need to read the books in order to understand everything going on. Kris is a good guy and I was rooting for he and Windy through the story. I don’t usually think of the 70s as historical but they are. The author did a great job transporting us there and giving us an enjoyable story.
4/5
Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
Having read the first two books in this series, I looked forward to reading Wendy’s story. Kris provides the perfect balance for Windy. I loved getting to know Windy, her daughter, Kris, and their family. Kris’s cousin helps this story come to life,
Kris has kept a secret for years from his family, and even women he has dated, He struggles with determining if it is worth it to share it with Windy. The reappearance of Windy’s mother adds an interesting tension to the story. I also love seeing how the relationships between the sister change through dating, fiancés, children, and marriages. So check out this story for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
This has been a fun series, full of 1970s details. I’ve really enjoyed it!
Windy is sister #3 and she is definitely windy in personality. But I came to love her, even with her mistakes in life. Because we all make them, right? That’s where forgiveness comes in. God’s grace always surrounds us. Strong and independent, Windy is still looking for that forever love. Will she find it?
I sighed and laughed my way through this story. I do highly recommend reading the first two books in the trilogy so you understand all the family nuances. They were equally as good.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Read for #buzzwordchallenge 2023 -weather Very conservative Christian romance.
I have read all three. They take place in 1970 Indiana. The three sisters run a wedding venue in an old mansion. Sunny was my favorite, and Stormy my least favorite. (I so wanted Windy to name her baby Misty. Lol.) They were just fine, the Christianity aspect spread on thick with a butter knife. Which is fine, but I think as far as Christian authors go, Coble does it better.
