Kate gets an unexpected visit from Alex, the cop she nearly killed during sex. He remembers seeing her coming out of the coma, and he’s suspicious that she’s more than just a simple one-night stand.
Jay is still angry about Kate’s affair with Steve, and Kate is tired of feeling guilty every time she sees him. She finds consolation, but it’s not with Jay.
Alex returns and Kate has no choice but to trust him with her secret. He wants her help with some unusual cases, involving other modified people. With no other job prospects and rent to pay, Kate accepts.
A series of cyberattacks occur, and the hacker calls out Kate as being Derek’s captor. With bad cops on Derek’s payroll and a mysterious hacker on the loose, Kate is being hunted.
Kate visits Derek in his cell in hopes of getting information about the attacks, but what she sees in his mind is too disturbing to process. She enlists the help of Jay to track down the hacker.
Can Kate and the others stop the hacker? And will Kate and Jay find love again?
Reader Discretion is If you are offended by strong language or sexual situations, for the love of God don't buy this book.
Originally a Jersey girl, sunny Texas is where I now call home, in a town way up north in the panhandle called Wellington. Along with the man of my dreams, I have two children: a rambunctious little girl and a sweet but vocal little boy. Three cats, three dogs and an inordinate amount of pet hair complete my household. For fun I like to read YA, horror, and existentialist fiction, as well as watch cartoons, movies, and sometimes even cartoon movies. I try not to take anything in life too seriously and I tend to smile often.
.Warning: Sexual Situations and Strong Langage. That said this novel is a joy to read. Now first off I want to say the author says straight up this is a serialized story. You need to think of it like a television series. Each novel fun to read to see where our characters are at and what happens to them but don’t expect and ending, just like your favoeite TV show we have to wait for the next novel to see what happens. There is not an ending in this book, so not expect that and you will be just fine. For this reason it is important that you read the novel in order. Ok all that said expect to have a good read in this novel I did. Kate gets a visit from Alex, the cop she nearly killed, he is thinking she has some kind of power and he is trying to figure out just what it is. He needs Kate help some unusual cases that in involves some modified people. Kate needs the job she is broke. In order to the job, she has to trust him her secret. A series of cyber-attacks occurs, and the hacker call out Kate as the one who captured Derek. Therefore, Kate is being hunted.
Kate asks Jay to help her capture the hacker. Everything is to complicated but that is what makes the read so much fun. Cannot wait for the next read to see what happens next. I have enjoyed this read but you are going to need to read it in order as the author has suggested. It is not a standalone novel. I highly recommend this novel. I received an advance reader copy of this novel and these are my honest opinions.
Sometimes the good guys aren’t so good… Kate gets an unexpected visit from Alex, the cop she nearly killed during sex. He remembers seeing her coming out of the coma, and he’s suspicious that she’s more than just a simple one-night stand. Can Kate and the others stop the hacker? And will Kate and Jay find love again? Read on to find out in this exciting story.
I just ran across Kat's books today In KU. I have already read 4 of her "modified" books and I love everything about this series! Fresh, inventive, full of twists n turns and plenty of lovin'. Kudos to Kat!
Allow a LONG afternoon for this adult near-future paranormal with science fiction elements, that takes place in the fall, mostly in New Jersey with side trips to England, and picks up right where Part 1 ended. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Love the cliffhanger and can think of four possible ending to it Hoping that Ms. Stiles takes the most logical when she does write the next continuation!
