Thrillers are something that satiate your hunger like no other. They give a befitting relief from the usual chores in life and bind one's attention.
This novel is in continuation of part-1 which in itself was a roller coaster ride and that compelled me to pick this one. Just like its predecessor, CBI inspector Komal is yet again up for her task but she has lost the count of impending murders. The serial killer seems to be on a murdering spree and only time can tell when will he stop . The victims involve only women which makes the crime even more gruesome. Will the trails of murderer help her find him? Grab the book to find out.
The book is full of adventure and thrill. There is hardly any dull moment. The technological aspect to the tale shows even the crimes have become quite advanced today. The relentless cat and mouse chase makes readers deeply engaged with the work. The cover bears resemblance to its prequel. At several instances it gave an impression of amalgam of many Bollywood flicks. The touch of modernity adds charm to the novel
Here, I am back with another crime thriller which is a sequel of ‘Murdrum 1’ by ‘Dr. Sohil Makwana’ i.e., ‘Murdrum 2: Double Trouble.’ The first has all started with a cold murder of lady whose torso was found by a boy. Our protagonist who is Komal Rathod, a CBI inspector who is investigating the case, and trying to connect the dots by finding out the clues but unable to do so as each and every time there is a new twist in the story when she finds something closer to the guilty.
Now, the author releases his second book, Murdrum 2 which is one level next to the first one. Continuing to the first book, our protagonist is unable to find the connection between dots – the hallmark signature. In the first part there is something strange a human DNA inside mosquito stomach. Now, in this ‘SAW NOTHING’ another clue. What is hidden in ‘SAW NOTHING’? Our protagonist is still in dilemma whether this act is committed by single person or a gang! It is hard to conclude. Will she be able to find out the reason behind this serial killer? Will she be able to save the 27th one from getting murdered?
The author is well equipped with the modern criminology and the forensic technology used in finding out the guilty ones and prove them one. Here, the readers will come to know about the latest technology i.e., DNA phenotyping which is a technique by which one can generate a digital face of anyone from one’s DNA. So, here again there is chance that if Komal anyhow get’s killer DNA then she will be able to get the face able to solve the case and get the one behind the bars. Overall, it’s a good same as the first one but with more thrilling experience. The story has been well connected with the first part and goes with the same pace. It a good one time read but a lengthy one. As usual language and style of narration is up to mark and well goes with the flow.
There is no valid or even probable explanation as to why, but it has always been seen that there is some sort of fascination that the readers have with the manic and more grandiose version of a thriller where the perpetrator is a mysterious being until the very end.
‘Murdrum 2: Double Trouble’ by Sohil Makwana is one such story that has the complete ability to thrill the readers even though it is distracting us from the more pressing danger and mundanity of everyday evil.
As it is a continuation of the previous story, we can see that there has been a certain growth in the characterization of our main protagonist, Komal Rathod and the hurdles which she now faces are much more dangerous and complex than the previous.
With new position comes great responsibility for Komal and she needs to ensure to get the things done in deadline, else risk everything that she has worked upon till now.
There are some series in which the first book is hyped, but the sequel is somewhat disappointing. However, that is not the case of this story, as not only was this a brilliant read, but rather it does has the ability to surpass its predecessor. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I want more! This book was as good as the first and more ! The book and the plot lefte baffled by the end and wanting for more. Coming to the plot.. the book follows where it left off in book 1. Best part: so much about forensics that it was a delight for me! I was a bit emotional by the end of book 1 as we lost a character but nonetheless.. the 2nd installment is a great end to the mystery, with two suspects to focus.. we see Komal Rathor in another more powerful and strong light of fearlessness! . The book has its own twists and turns which I so want to talk about but well.. I can't 🥲. . The whole book is so fast paced from the first page till the last and it keeps the readers glued to their seats with their mind wandering to so many vibrant theories! . The book ended but I hope there's another installtment.. let there be a next installment! . Highly recommended for crime thriller lovers!
This book is the second part of the Murdrum series. I only recently read the first part and I liked it.
Now, the number of murders has been increasing rapidly. Komal, a CBI officer and our protagonist, has been made to work under a hectic deadline. There are a lot of mysteries around the murders. If that wasn't confusing enough, there were a lot of misleading pieces of evidence that threw the investigation in completely wrong directions.
The fast-paced writing style complements the plot very well. Murdrum (both parts 1 and 2) would be good reads for beginners who want to try out the crime/thriller genre.
The fast paced writing is great for beginners of crime and thriller genre. This is the second installment in the series and the author has given a recap which is a cherry on the top. I was thoroughly driven by the plot and the protagonist Komal was very studious and determined which I really appreciate and liked about her. It was very plot driven rather than character driven which was a good thing. The book could have been divided better into shorter chapters but other than that it has a wonderful storyline. The author has done extensive research in forensic science which bought great creativity to the story.
Life's unpredictable and so are the days which try explaining about how a person could have lived up the life in an appealing way. Author has pretty much wonderfully explained how there are things one can actually master over and use.
I liked the complete concept on which this sequel read is based which took me a night and a day to get done with reading. Author has mentioned and narrated things which actually have to matter and when it's something like that, I always prefer to have continuous suggestions which helps into making my dull self, an upfront one.
The title is enough in its own way to talk about the setbacks and how things can be improvised while it completely holds an urge for the reader to explore the intention behind the title. Overall speaking, an Energizing read in its own way.
What a sequel it was to the 1st part! It was damn great!! A brilliantly written Crime thriller which keeps you hooked to your seats till the end... Especially the climax ... It was a spine chilling climax... And the killer(you will never guess the killer by yourself)unless you read the book.... Truly a gem of a book!! The first book was great... But this one is even better...... The plot, the twist, the climax.... Just amzingggg🤗🤗🤩 Looking forward to more books from you sir
Double Trouble is the sequel of Murdrum. This entire story revolves around the protagonist Komal Rathod who is now a CBI officer. Her past was quite horrid so she decided to pursue her career in forensics. In this book we get to read about a psychopath who had been murdering pregnant women and leaves two dots on their navel. Komal and her team is having a strict deadline from her boss Dr. Manohar Lal, to solve this murder case, or she was supposed to handover this case to someone else who had more experience than her. Two days left, can Komal and her team solve the case? Who is the psychopath who is brutally killing these women? What is the backstory? Now that’s for you to read and find out. This book is fast paced that I could not put it down. As you know that the author is a doctor you wont find any wrong info in the forensics part. Amazing book. Grab it Now.
The book is full of suspense and twists, and the reader is kept guessing until the very end. The author does a great job of developing the characters, and the plot is well-paced. The book is also informative, as it provides insights into the psychology of serial killers and the science of forensic investigation.
Overall, Murdrum 2 is a well-written and suspenseful crime thriller. It is a must-read for fans of the genre.
Just wow! The story line, the plot the narration all awesome. I was feeling like i m watching a action movie. It reminded me of some Bollywood movie.
This is the 2nd part of book 'Murdrum' and i could not help finishing the book in 1 day such awesome was the book. Loved the twist where the connection between the Serial Killer and Female CBI officer revealed.
Thorough explanations on human psychology, forensics terms, gentics DNA. A totally facinating book .
I loved Murdrum and was waiting for the sequel. I loved this too! The first book finished on a cliffhanger so this picked up from where it left and took the story ahead. The protagonist, Komal, was ever alert to search for the criminal and catch them while a lot of "unknown" people made sure the "evidences" only trapped her deeper into the spider's web. Everything is time bound and the "sources" only make things difficult for Komal and her team. The two blue dots left by the serial killer sure confused them. Do they catch the killer and unravel the mystery?
Just like the previous book, the character development is commendable, the twists were well thought and the language is beginner friendly. All the loose ends from the first book tied up here, making perfect sense why they happened in the first place. Definitely recommended.
Indeed, a crime is one such activity that can compel one to think radically, understanding the small repercussions that arise out of its nuances. I recently finished Murdrum 2: Double Trouble by Dr Sohil Makwana, the sequel to the first in the series of Murdrum: The Probe begins. For those who are unacquainted with the previous, don’t worry because there is a little recap in the first part which will help you get updated with the transpiring of this psychological crime thriller.
So, this one starts with CBI officer Komal Rathod being assigned to find out the reason why a pregnant woman has been brutally killed. 26 murders which have taken place in a short span of time are ticking away her time and patience as she gets into the rigmarole towards finding out why and who is behind these. To make matters worse her competitor Jadhav has been killed too. Although she detested him, she is unhappy with the sequence of events that are unfolding themselves upon her, throwing her down the labyrinth of new challenges every day. Will she be able to find out who the murderer is and his/her purpose behind the brutal acts? Or will she fall prey to the vicious weblike quagmire the murderer has spun for her? Read the book to find out more.
I especially want to commence by mentioning how Dr Sohil’s writing has always intrigued me because of its uncanny ability to give one a sort of a lens to picture the scenario in your mind’s eye. His descriptions are so vivid, the details being gruesome yet appealing in a compelling sort of way, keeping you hooked right throughout the narrative. Agree the details of the murders put are gruesome and can be a bit unpleasant in nature for some to read but hey guys when was crime ever fun to read and peruse? Crime is known for its ability to stay put startling and clear in our memories owing to its gruesome, brutal nature. The references especially the medical jargon used are effective in keeping one’s interest piqued at all points throughout the read. I almost felt to be a part of the chase alongside Komal as I could begin to see the whole drama almost unfold successfully in my mind’s eye, thanks to Dr Sohil’s illustrative descriptions. Also adopting the use of technology to catch the killer used in this plot is fresh and engaging, allowing a newer perspective to the story. Felt as though I was a part of the hard-core FBI team, doing rounds to crack a high-profile lunatic’s case. Not only has the plot been well devised, but the characters have also been sketched in a manner wherein one finds it fascinating to understand as well as peruse them throughout. I must mention that in spite of this being a crime read, the author has tried to keep it light at times, giving the readers a bit of respite from the heavy-duty plot and storyline.
It thus came as no surprise to me that this book will soon be made into a movie. Surely, with the kind of the racy thrilling narrative, the gripping storyline and most importantly the cleverly conceived characters, Murdrum will surely be an audio-visual treat to watch out for. A great crime fiction, this one was a fabulous read I’d recommend to all crime fiction lovers. A riveting murder mystery this one will keep you hooked on to the edge of your seats for long! Grab a copy if you want to indulge in some good crime fiction.

Book Review: Double Trouble (Murdrum #2) Reviewer: Kaushik Karmakar
Dr. Sohil Makwana’s Double Trouble, the second book in the gripping Murdrum series, is an outstanding thriller that continues to showcase the author’s mastery of crime fiction. Based on true events, this novel blends forensic science, psychological intrigue, and the dark world of serial killers into a narrative that is as chilling as it is captivating.
Plot & Narrative From the very first page, Double Trouble immerses readers into a world of suspense and unpredictability. The story revolves around complex murders and a tangled web of clues that demand attention to every detail. What makes this book exceptional is its strong foundation in real-life forensic practices and criminal psychology. Makwana’s ability to interweave technical details with an engaging narrative ensures that both crime enthusiasts and general readers will find something to love.
Characters The protagonist’s development stands out in this sequel. The characters feel raw and real, with motivations that are deeply explored, making their struggles relatable and their decisions impactful. The antagonists, on the other hand, are hauntingly well-crafted, with layers that make them more than mere villains—they become psychological enigmas that linger in your mind.
Writing Style Dr. Sohil Makwana’s prose is precise and atmospheric. He balances the scientific and the emotional aspects of the story beautifully, making the complex world of forensics accessible to readers without oversimplifying it. His attention to detail and ability to create tension through descriptive scenes elevate the book to a cinematic experience.
Themes The novel delves deep into themes of morality, human psychology, and the thin line between sanity and madness. It poses questions that linger long after the book is closed, such as the cost of justice and the impact of trauma on the human psyche.
Verdict Double Trouble is a must-read for fans of crime thrillers. It keeps you guessing, challenges your perceptions, and leaves you wanting more. Dr. Sohil Makwana has crafted a sequel that not only lives up to its predecessor but also surpasses it in many ways. I, Kaushik Karmakar, wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a dark, gripping tale that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5/5)
Dr. Sohil Makwana is undoubtedly an author to watch, and Double Trouble cements his place as a master of the genre. Don’t miss this thrilling ride!
This is a follow-up to murdrum. The protagonist of this novel is Komal Rathod. She began her career as an intern at the CBI headquarters and comes from a very dark past, which led her to pursue a career in forensics. Later, she becomes a CBI officer and is tasked with solving the case for which she had previously discovered leads. But they were unable to solve the case, and it was discovered that all of the killings were committed by pregnant women who had a weird mark on their navel. She has two days from her boss, Dr. Manohar Lal, to solve this issue, or she will have to give her case to someone with more experience. Will Komal and her crew be able to track down the serial killer in the next two days? What does the unusual mark reveal about these expectant mothers? And there are a slew of other questions that come to mind while you read this book. And it was because of these questions that I was able to stay focused on the book.
I was blown away by this novel, which was my first thriller by an Indian author. I read this book on my way home for the holidays and couldn't put it down. The heist sequences were brilliantly written. My heart fell and then sprang back to life every time there was a storyline twist. I finished this book during a 9-hour journey. The author has a wealth of forensic knowledge, and as a medical student, I appreciated how thoroughly he explained each term. It slowed my reading speed a little, but the knowledge I gained was enormous. The storey was quite dramatic, even if there were some flaws that I didn't like as a reader, such as the author's use of the word iPhone every time someone's phone rang, which was a little irritating, and I felt like the author was promoting Apple because only Apple users were present throughout the book. And while the adjectives employed in the book were effective for establishing characters, I found it tedious to use them for people. But, despite the flaws, the book was fantastic. The plot was so well-written that it literally blew my mind. In addition, I admired the author's portrayal of Komal as a strong and bold woman. I'd love to see this novel adapted into a film.
The second book in the series is written to impress, with a chilling account of murders and a thorough investigation achieved by an interesting inspector, Komal Rathod. The readers are introduced to modern forensic investigation techniques, which are described in detail. Will the inspector be able to decode the mysterious Two Blue Dots? You will have to read the book to find out!
I read the first book in the series, and I was curious to discover what the second had to offer. Even though the book could benefit from further editing, I think the author did a great job in creating intrigue over the sadistic killer. There is a lot of mention about forensic investigation methods, including DNA phenotyping, so the author must have done a lot of research to this purpose. It was interesting how the action unfolded gradually, starting with the hidden message left by the killer.
The inspector is one of the best contoured characters and I liked how she used his experience to track the killer. Her mission is, of course, to save the next victim, provided she will be able to understand the modus operandi of the killer. The book takes the reader on a rollercoaster experience, full of adventure and thrills. I appreciated that it was connected to the first part, showing the growth of the main character, the inspector. She is powerful and fearless, showing perseverance in pursuing the killer at all costs.
If you like crime thrillers, then you should definitely give this book a try. Be sure to read the first one as well, as it will help you follow the storyline. The book has plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested, and it will be impossible not to come up with your own theories about what happened. You might notice that the book ends with a cliffhanger, which means that we might see a new book in the series. There are a lot of interesting facts about human psychology and forensics, so this read is anything but boring.
The sequel to Murdrum was an interesting read, especially since it contained so much information on modern forensics. I would have liked for the book to be better edited, but I am sure this is something the author can work on. The story delivers a good crime thriller, with a strong main character and plenty of action to keep the reader interested. I am already curious to discover what will happen in the next book.
Murdrum duology by Dr Sohil Makwana did actually take me on a roller-coaster ride. I started the second part of the series just after finishing the 1st; in search of the answers regarding what happens next? So what really happens next?!
I love how Murdrum 2 after quite a few pages is totally Komal versus the sadist serial killer. Komal, the CBI intern takes the killer head on this time. People came People went (literally), her team members were killed while they were tracking the case, she had flashback of her pasts, she also had a task of now making a team function- she does all of it. Is the killer a male? Or a female? Or like both? So are there multiple killers? Mr Makwana entices us in a world full of these questions. I hope you haven't forgotten Nitinlal, have you?
I love how in the second part the author has weaved in many more incidents, eyewitnesses, evidences which become a part of this story and leave, as the arrested doctor finishes them. So is that doctor the killer? Hahaha, the reader will be on a constant search of the answers. The parallel stories of two different persons also unveil here and it all makes sense to us. So is there a whole gang behind the killings? You'd have to keep reading.
An excerpt from the part 1 itself said how we as a society breed monsters and killers and villains out of normal people? Not normal, but disturbed. But not monsters they weren't these monsters before. I vividly remember that excerpt which goes on to discuss how our childhood trauma stays with us and it's toxicity is released later in life through means one can't predict. Last 100 pages of the book are so graphic and thrilling, it had me stuck at a place with my nerves knotted and book in the hand and I am not lying. The duology comes with double the thrill. The concept of DNA phenotype which the author being a doctor himself confirms is a way used by forensic agencies in solving crimes, is described here in the story and used by Komal & team. But was her team actually able to grab on the killers neck after a range of serial killers? You have to read this to find it out.
I recommend this series as this duology is a very underrated yet remarkable work in the genre by an Indian author.
Ok, so I finished Murdrum by Sohil Makwana. This is the second part of my review. The first part is attached with first part of this story.
Ok, so let's review this book like we usually do:
The Detective and the Method of Detection : 2/5 The Criminal : 3/5 The Method of Crime : 2/5
The Detective in this story is Komal Rathod, an intern at CBI. She uses her skills and determination and Forensic Science to track down a serial killer who has killed multiple pregnant women. On the whole, she is just your generic action hero, with great determination, beauty and intelligence. She also has a personal angle with the killer. There is nothing that interesting about her other than the fact, that she is impervious to pain. She is supported in her quest by a multitude of characters, ranging from CBI officials to numerous policemen.
Her Method of Detection is quite innovative. She uses Advanced Forensic Techniques to catch the serial killer. This was the only thing about this book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I learnt a lot of new things about Forensic Investigations. The author also left a lot of clues for the readers to guess the identity of the killer in the story. If only the packaging was a little nicer, I would have had no problem in recommending this book.
The Criminal is also quite a great character. He has great development and a overbearing presence. You feel as if everything happening in the story is the result of his actions. Like he controls all the strings. Also, throughout the narrative, the criminal is shown to be one step ahead of the investigation. I appreciated that. It provided some real tension throughout the journey.
Now, about the Method of Crime, it was nothing that requires much mental prowess to imagine. But, it was full of gore and brutality. So, if that's your cup of tea, you're welcome to it. I personally didn't like it that much.
Overall, the mystery was quite satisfying and gruesome. But, it was still not enough to elevate this book beyond its many mistakes. Not recommended.
"Murderers are not monsters, they're men. And that's the most frightening thing about them" - Alice Sebold
"Murdrum 2: Double Trouble" by Dr. Sohil Makwana, is a sequel to his previous book. Last year, after reading the first part, I was excited about its second part. I am grateful to the author for introducing the "Recap" section at the beginning of the story.
Komal Rathod, a female protagonist of this story, was an Intern in the CBI Forensics team, later promoted to CBI Inspector after she qualified for the exam. CBI chief Dr. Manohar hands over the same case to her — hunt the monstrous serial killer who mercilessly kills women.
The second part includes eight chapters filled with various twists and turns. It started from a luxurious apartment of Dr. Vishwajit. What about the date and time? It's 7.12am of 3 February 2021. As the story moved ahead, the author introduced us to new mysteries and characters like, "Deepak, Jyoti, Dr. Madhavi, Namrata, Dr. Dipti, Harry, Sandhya Jaiswal, and many more"
Who is the main mastermind behind all the murders? Do you think Komal and her team solve the mysteries? Read both the parts to solve this case while sitting at your home.
"History is the biography of murderers" - Khayri R.R. Woulfe
Dr. Sohil Makwana (MBBS, MD) is as engaged in creative pursuits as he is in medicine. He is a man who dons many hats. When not spending time with his patients, he relishes his role as a fashion photographer, humorist, assistant director, screenwriter, fitness expert, and most recently a novelist. Times of India has given five stars to his novel. Recently, Dr. Sohil is awarded by Sony the ‘Heroes Behind The Heroes’ award and the Iconic Gold award.
Coming back to the book: I loved its book cover, engaging story, characters are well established, it's a page-turner in nature!!
This is the sequel of the authors famous 1st book - " Murdrum " and it's a continuation.
The protagonist of the book - Komal, a newly appointed CBI officer is in look out for the most wanted serial killer they have unravelled in the recent times. Time is running and the police department is in a conundrum.
With so many twists and turns, the bonding of the police and their quest to catch the killer takes you on a thrilling journey.
Bhave, Harry , Mr. Manohar, Dr. Vishwas , Jyothi, Deepak , Rohan and several other characters leave a unique mark in your minds where at times you clench your teeth with the events unfolding in the book.
The author with his deep insights of the medical profession being a doctor himself has used it to his advantage and introduces several conditions which play a vital part in this book. Through this, it not only adds an interesting ploy to the script but also creates awareness of the human conditions unaware to us.
The technology is on the forefront in the book with forensic science being given the utmost importance and was educative.
The ending was gripping, extremely vivid like the rest of the novel and heart wrenching. I could envision a movie/ series on this book and it would give the producers a run for their money.
Loved the ending which ended with an important message. One doesnt know what impact it could have done but love might have saved the lives the several murdered women and also the antagonist himself.
Again, it proves. No better emotion in the world than acceptance and forgiveness. I salute the author for conveying this in the book through the protagonist.
All thriller fans, dig into this book.
Warning - Its gory but so are most of the serial killer books.
Could have been much better! The reveal saves the book!
It's double trouble and the Sequel of Murdrum has arrived. The first book ends on a chase of the killer in the process of leading to the death of a police officer. . It's 2021 and the book opens to one of the character's obsession with a fetish we could never have imagined. . Komal, who has been appointed as a an officer seeing her dedication to the case of the killing of pregnant women and on the hunt of the serial killer who has been doing this for a very long time. . This book was not able to hold up the standards of the first book unfortunately. The writer wanted to insert a sort of social commentary too but because of abrupt scenes and lack of smoothness in the narrative was not able to do what it achieved in the first book. . In the second book there are subplots that tries to achieve the camaraderie that exists between police officers but the author wanted to give a more rounded characterization to Komal and keep her in the limelight. In doing so, there were many things that were missed in editing. The book has major editing mistakes and if not anything else, the terms and words integral to the genre and the plotline should have been paid special attention.I agree that the concept is fresh, but the concept fails to impress because of its lack of expression in the narrative and the medical fascination no more is fascinating because it drags on. . What peaks my interest is the chase and the way the story of the serial killer unfolds as the end comes near. It was then that I sat up and started reading what actually happened. . The chase keeps you on your toes and it's the reveal and the medical jargon then that gets my attention. The height the series took me to in the first book dropped considerably in this one. future works
🔪I Just finished reading the second one in the Murdrum series & wow!!! ->> This is one of the most truly horrifying — and surprisingly twisty — serial killer books of all time by an Indian author I have ever read🙌🏻!!!
⚠️TRIGGER WARNING!! This book deals well with mental illness, murder, childhood tarumas, physical abuse, molestation & death
🔪The first part starts off with a horrific murder of a pregnant lady whose body without a head is found by a boy. The case is assigned to Komal , a forensic specialist & an intern at CBI. She starts investigating the case with the help of forensic technology and finds that there are some other murders were connected with this and comes to a conclusion that it is the work of a SERIAL KILLER who targets pregnant ladies in particular.
🔪The part 1 ends at a point where she is too close to catch the serial killer. And the part two is Double the trouble as the title indicates...As even greater acts of violence are unleashed, investigators set their sights on several possible suspects who are capable of unspeakable evil. This race to catch a killer will keep readers — and the police force — guessing until the final page. & When the big reveal happens, it was brilliant and shocking, i did not see the twist coming.
🔪Overall this is an unforgettable classic of suspense fiction. A fast paced read that kept me intrigued from beginning to end, although the shocker came at the end. Wait......wait......what just happened? This was how I felt as I read the last few chapters. & I believe, this book will make a terrific movie if Bollywood does it right🎥🎬. I found this to be a quick read & The language is very lucid and beginner friendly.
🔪If you are looking for a novel that will keep you up late at night, these terrifying serial killer book will do the trick!!! 5⭐ Happy reading ahead✨
Komal Rathod continues her hunt for the serial killer who kidnaps and kills pregnant women! Her race against time is almost over but the hunt isn't over until the killer is captured but this particular killer has read it all and mastered the art of serial killing!!
Komal's demons threaten her dreams and ger tragic past is dug up after years, and when the killer is on the loose still and taunts the police force her wrath is kindled but the powers above try to take the case off her hands and she just has two days to prove that she can catch the killer!
The pace is faster than ever because they almost have their hands on him/her this time but he keeps slipping through the cracks and evades them by placing false clues! Komal must find the killer before the time runs out and more women end up dead!! They find out two DNA samples and now all they have to do is find the killer as they have the almost face of the killer but things are not always what they seem do they, sometimes even DNA's lie or tell half truths! NOTHING is DEFINITE!
This book had me saying "Oh wow what a ride!!" And I couldn't put it down once I started it, the book is fast paced and the writing style is lucid, the plot is original and follows book 1 perfectly (Note: can read this only if you've read book 1) A book that deserves a Series deal (I'm not saying movie because they tend to ruin the story line to fit the time but if they make a five or nine hour movie them I'm all in!!) Awesome book overall, a bit adult level gore in the storyline but you did sign up for a forensic thriller so you know. Perfect ending to a great Duology!! Looking forward to reading more from the author!!
Continuation and a sequel to the previous book, ‘Murdrum 2: Double Trouble’ by Sohil Makwana picks up with showcasing the narration that revolves around our main protagonist Komal Rathod, who is on a strict deadline to uncover the mystery behind all the strange incidents that are happening or else face serious consequences for the same.
However, not only is she on a very serious targeted constraints, but this time around, we see that there are also many external forces who are doing everything in their power to mislead and falsify the uncoverings of our protagonist.
Now, the question remains on whether Komal and her team would be able to put an end to all, or if they have lost too much time going after wrong sources and wasted their own precious time, thereby letting the entire situation get out of hand.
The first book in this series was what drew the readers in with an initial whodunnit, but the way the author has done an excellent job of woving all the plot together in this sequel is definitely an important reason which will make them all keep coming back for the rich character development and compelling storytelling.
Surely, this installment in the series was definitely another opportunity to solve the mystery or uncover a dark and devious secret, but if we look into it, we realize that’s not what really which will compel us to pick up the book. It was a whole new world that this series created that we as a readers would want to spend time in, not only for the action and thrills.
I loved reading this smashing sequel, hence I am going to give this book FIVE MURDRUM STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So, just to put it out there at the very start of the review, there is nothing more than I like when an author or a storyteller reach out of their ways to get the knowledge of how things work in real life of their topic, their genre and DR. SOHIL MAKWANA the author of this book well he knows what he is doing well. The depth and details in this book in the field of crime fiction of how a criminal mind works or could work I mean it’s just spectacular and of course also in terms of clinical knowledge given his profession, these 2 major things just make this book a perfect crime thriller I crave for.
The story starts with a recap of the book Double Trouble which this book is a sequel to. It's great if you've read it already, but if not, no worries, the author's got you covered. In my opinion, the recap is quite helpful in giving you every detail without ruining the fun of the first book. Coming to this book it’s a story CBI inspector Komal is investigating a series of murders of pregnant ladies. What is she finding as a clue, 2 blue dots every time. Now, this might feel like a classic move by serial killers but let's be honest, where is the fun without a serial killer killing someone then teasing the officers by leaving the same clue at every crime scene. Maybe that's how the mind of a serial killer in reality works, who knows.
As a whole, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't enjoy this book. It's so full of details that I find myself falling in love with it. I haven't read a crime thriller this gripping for a long time and now this one is just perfect. I enjoyed it and I believe you will too, or at least I hope you will.
Murdrum 2: Double Trouble Book- Murdrum 2: Double Trouble Author- Dr Sohil Makwana Type- Fiction Format-E Book (Kindle) Rating-4/5
“Men and monster complement each other. Sometimes, society itself creates a monster out of a man. If someone had accepted this monster, he might never have become the serial killer.”
Murdrum 2: Double Trouble is an amazing fiction wherein reader comes across various high thrilling moments. Protagonist starts internship at CBI HQ and thereafter becomes officer. Later on, she is assigned with a task of solving murder cases. Nobody knew who is the murderer. However, the murderer was leaving a particular proof after each murder as a symbol of his/her brand. Only task for the protagonist is to interpret the symbol, trial behind the murderer and to catch her. Whether she would success or not, to know this, read this adventurous book by Dr Sohil Makwana.
Book has good amount of suspense as well as takeaways. Major takeaway of the book is that see the big picture and after seeing it, if it is a mess, don’t give up, instead organise it. There are many more lessons imbedded in the book. Read the full book to get them.
Other Things I liked in this book were- 1. Language of the book is easy and comfortable. 2. Narration style was stunning. 3. Book cover was exquisite and matching with storyline. 4. Characterization was portrayed well. 5. Plot development and execution was noteworthy. Story was very connected at all ends. 6. Good amount of suspense was depicted in the book in a subtle manner. 7. There was nothing in this book, which I disliked particularly. Overall book was a good read and I recommend it for book lovers.
Murdrum 2 : Double Trouble by Dr. Sohail Makwana is the second book in the series , I have read the first one , Murdrum : The Probe Begins , and was absolutely smitten by the writing style of the author as I’m already an avid reader of the thriller genre , so naturally I was looking forward to this one , and I’m glad to say I’m not disappointed it duly lived up to my already set expectations.
It has just the right amount of twists , turns and intensity to keep you on your feet and make you wanting to move on to the next pages because you can’t wait to see what’s next to come. Even if you haven’t read the first book it’s not a problem you are given a recap of what happens and you’ll be filled in.
Moving onto the storyline , our protagonist is a CBI inspector named Komal she’s appointed on the case of a brutal murderer whose main target is pregnant women. Komal is a fiery woman and she is determined to find this killer but he’s fast , she misses him every time and despite of using all the advanced modern technology he’s still making it hard for her. T.W. - The details of the murders are vivid and would make you wanna throw up , but the intensity of the plot is very intriguing and will grip your attention through the entirety of the book.
Furthermore , the writing is very detailed which helps you visualise the exact same scenarios , hooking you even more. The narration is engaging and will make you want to finish the book in one go , it keeps getting more and more interesting page by page. The language of the book is lucid , easy to understand. The story is pretty engaging as you can probably tell just by reading the review. Highly recommended.
“Man and monster complement each other. Sometimes, society itself creates a monster out of a man." - Komal Rathod.
After reading MURDRUM I can say most people can't wait to read this book because of the suspense it left in our curious minds. After reading this I can say a lot of suspense in my mind was replaced with utmost shock with its ending.
Same as the previous book Komal Rathod continues her hunt of the serial killer, even though she left with no clues because of the intelligence of the killer, dedicated Komal used high tech forensic technology with her brilliance to dig the clues to reach the cold blooded serial killer. Even Though the killer confusing her with his clues, komal never give up until she find him and the reasons behind his murders.
This highly thrilling book never helps you put down till its end. This book is full of suspense, thrill, adventure and a lot more which makes the readers more curious to know what will happen next. The constant plot twists in the book can make the reader thrilled. The use of technology and forensic science can say how crimes became so advanced nowadays. But still modern issues have modern solutions.
After the end of the book I completely agree with the words of the author that I mentioned above, if society treats everyone good there might be no monsters in the society to cause the trouble. Author had ended this amazing suspense crime thriller with a wonderful message to society…
A highly recommended book which can make you thrilled at every twist… Happy Reading ❤️😊
