About the author

Miguel Ángel Ruiz Macías is a Mexican author known for his teachings on Toltec spirituality and neoshamanism. Best known for his 1997 bestseller The Four Agreements, Ruiz's work is embraced by the New Thought movement and has influenced many seeking spiritual enlightenment. His books, including The Mastery of Love and The Voice of Knowledge, have helped spread Toltec wisdom worldwide. Ruiz was named one of the Watkins 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People in 2018. He also co-authored The Fifth Agreement with his son José Ruiz and has continued to write and teach on personal freedom and love.

Me ha parecido un libro poco claro, desordenado y sin un objetivo que se transmita al lector.
Es una reflexión larga sobre el amor, pero que mezcla muchos otros temas que no vienen mucho a cuento.
Además de que la traducción al español tiene muchos defectos de forma y se hace aún más complicada de leer.

Why am I scared of unconditional love these days ? 1st pop-up thought while reading.
My brain told me love is a hard thing today, this book whispered to me like "No. That's not love. Those are storytelling (and marketing). Love is Simple like breathing."
It's force. It's energy.

Lo leí tal cual su formato (4 días). Al igual que todos los libros que leo, no siempre comienzo la lectura al momento que este llega a mis manos, sino que lo hago cuando mi cuerpo lo indica, cuando tengo verdaderos deseos de hacerlo. Comencé este libro en un momento difícil de mi vida y siento que le dió en el clavo en algunas cosas, me ayudó a ver de otra manera el concepto del amor y a replantearme cómo he aprendido las cosas. Sin duda, es un buen libro para ir en sendas de un buen trato con uno mismo y con quienes te rodeas. Para reflexionar.

However I found that it still remained somewhat on a surface level when it comes to the meaning of love, the meaning people ascribe to it and how these two interact with one another. Maybe my expectations regarding the book were wrong. Still an easy and fun/ light read

Een kleiner boekje dan ik had verwacht bij een masterclass voor een terugkeer naar onvoorwaardelijke liefde. Het boek heeft 5 hoofdstukken refererend naar 5 dagen van de masterclass. De inleiding -oriëntatie genoemd in dit boek- pakt mij meteen. Dit sluit precies aan bij de vraagstukken: ‘wat is liefde nou eigenlijk’ en.. ‘wat is ware liefde?’ Vraagstukken die mij erg bezighouden op dit moment. Het boek is kort en bonding. A.d.h.v. korte verhaaltjes wordt de materie verduidelijkt. Elk hoofdstuk wil ik doorlezen en de manier waarop ik als lezer wordt aangesproken geeft mij het gevoel dat ik daadwerkelijk een masterclass bijwoon. Ik wordt meegenomen in de verhalende kennis van Don Miguel Ruiz en uitgedaagd om mijn huidige denkbeelden en overtuigingen een anders te bekijken. Een interessante kijk op de liefde en hoe we deze zo graag willen grijpen, maar eigenlijk het ware gezicht van haar niet kennen. Een boek wat je vanaf verschillende niveaus van bewustzijn/ontwikkeling kunt lezen en wat ik zeker over een tijd nog eens herlees en ervan overtuigd ben dat ik er dan weer andere inzichten uithaal. Een aanrader voor iedereen die het huidige beeld van de liefde durft los te laten en op onderzoek wilt wat ‘onvoorwaardelijke liefde’ wel zou kunnen zijn.

Dit boekje herinnert je aan de waarheid. Wat liefde écht is en vooral ook wat het niet is.

Liefde is niet ‘ik houd van jou als je…’ of ‘ik houd van jou, omdat je…’. In dat geval is de liefde voorwaardelijk. Wat nou als je realiseert, of je herinnert dat je al liefde bent. Zou dat niet alles veranderen, alles transformeren? Als jij jouw (innerlijke) wereld verandert, verandert alles mee.

Dit boek daagt je uit om (weer) voor jezelf te denken. Na te gaan wat jouw waarheid is en die te leven. Je gedachten, overtuigingen en gedragingen te onderzoeken en waar nodig aan te passen. Eens terug te denken aan onze kindertijd. Er was nog geen oordeel, we waren nog vol in contact met alles en iedereen om ons heen, in liefde. Dit boek vraagt om je over te geven aan het leven, aan de liefde, aan dat wie je écht bent.

Don Miguel Ruiz is one of my go tos for wisdom, care and language. His writing, work and expression has truly held me in moments of my life where I needed deep, deep holding. It is fascinating to me how words pour into me and how they bring me into a deep space of self reflection and connections to myself.

To feel deeply held, seen and care for while reading a book is a testimony to how special this book is.

This is one of those books that call us to come back to it from time to time. It is one of those works of literature the demand to be sat it in order to be fully appreciated.

There is some beautiful insight in this book, many pages in my copy have been hi-lighted. While not everyone will appreciate the writing style there is a lot to learn about changing our stories and learning how to love ourselves more deeply then in turn love others unconditionally. I am grateful to have read this book.

A great theoretical approach to the idea of unconditional love. But not as inclusive in its language surrounding relationships. There are many types of relationships other than heterosexual, monogamous or marital relationships.
