How To Build Your Own City

Ok I’m confused. I wanted to read this book because Catahoula dogs are a cool breed. And there are a few of them in this book. There were exciting parts of this book both in he past and present, but not enough. A little intrigue with a family secret and duty pass down through the generations.

This book needs better editing there were spelling and grammar mistakes. It also needs chapters because it flips back and forth in time and location. You can tell English is a second language for the author which makes some of the wording awkward. Descriptions were more like bullet points than flowing sentences. There are too many people in both the past and present. It’s hard to keep them straight. The middle of the book sounds like a how to guide on building your own city. Security, hockey rinks, apartments, etc. a little too detailed. Would’ve liked more of the adventures.

Goodreads Giveaway!
This could have been a good book, the one half of the story was good the other half not so!
Unfortunately because English is not the writer's first language the book does not translate very well, it is very wooden and disjointed!
There are no chapters, which is difficult when reading one half of the story that just flips to another part, so became very confusing.
If it had good editing it might have been better!

Highly recommend!
Author took me through time and places.
There are love and adventure and friendship in this novel.
The island built in the middle of the ocean for people to live, work, research and discover, to support each other and to protect what they love.
I enjoyed this book so much and hope to see part two soon.

So this book was a bit confusing as there's no chapters to break up the timeline. One minute the characters are riding horses and dressing like Roman soldiers the next minute we're in the 20th century.

Wasn't sure what to expect here and there are definitely so good parts, but there's some editing that is needed and a little more clarity to help bring all the pieces together. I like how these islands are part of a family heritage and they do their best to keep these a secret and prosperous, but beyond that everything gets a bit fuzzy.

I received an advance review copy for free from GoodReads, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
