Got myself boostered and wanted a short romance to go through with this off colour body right now. It's best to say, I can always turn to Cassie Mint for that!
Despite its brief length, The Gift was an enjoyable and engaging read! The narration was set in the present, yet readers were given the impression that Lisbeth and Alexei had met two years before. Hence, the insta-love branding by Mint was not so purported here.
The characters were easily likeable too as his shyness and socially awkward thoughts are relatable to an introverted reader like me — despite the grumpy mannerism from the hero. And I love that this took place during Christmas. The festive season helps to bring out the romance to be more delightful than it was.
If you want a quick HEA romance with a bit of spice to read, you can always confide in Mint's novellas to help you through!

I rarely give 5 stars to novellas because there is always a sense of incompletion or rush that leaves me a little bit disappointed at the end. I can say here that The Gift was one of the most satisfying novellas to read. The premise was original, the characters were likable, the chemistry was sweet, the pacing was great...It honestly feels like the whole package wrapped in a nice little box.
Let's start with Alexei; he was an antisocial, grumpy and shy scientist who didn't really know how to express himself. His shyness came in the form of scowls, frowns and bereft of speech, making him seem very cold to the people around him. What I liked about him was how much he made my heart squeeze. He was so adorable and very much into Lisbeth, showing some inner jealousy and even some possessiveness. I just loved how, even with his inner struggle, he was able to find his courage. He was brave, and masculine. Truly a swoon-worthy hero.
I loved how Lisbeth was the only one who noticed that Alexei's behaviour was just shyness. She went out of her way to interact with him and never gave up on him. She had a positive attitude, tried to talk to him and was the one who initiated the most, giving him opportunities, openings, etc. She was really sweet and I would consider her a sunshine. She was perfect for Alexei and just as cute as him.
The great thing about this novella is that both characters are crushing on each other at their first encounter (which is two years before the novella's events), so their dynamic and their chemistry are already established from the get-go; which played a big part in the amazing pacing. It gave the plot the means to develop Alexei and Lisbeth's relationship nicely without having to rush anything.

I'm back with more Cassie Mint books ✧˚ ༘ ⋆｡♡˚ The Gift is a romance novella about a postal worker and a scientist set in an Arctic island. The winter holidays are going around and this island does a fun tradition of a gift exchange program between all of them. And being a postal worker, Lisbeth realizes that Alistair, the grumpy and lonely scientist, isn't receiving any. So she's about to change this!
I know I can find a fun, quick and SOOO ROMANTIC story when I read a Cassie book. So yeah I'm always going to come back. One of these days I'll finish them all but I feel like I want to keep some of them unread so whenever I need a pick-me-up or a comfort author, I have some books left to choose! They're really so entertaining and fun.

Disfruté mucho este este pequeño relato. Me gustó que sucediera en una pueblo aislado con nieve. Los personajes eran agradables y peculiares.
Me gustó que Lisbeth tomara cartas en el asunto y fuera a por Alexei, porque sino él no hubiera hecho una movida con ella. Eso fue lo que molestó un poco, me hubiera gustado que él hiciera algo al respecto en cuanto a ella si tan enamorado estaba, en cambio se iba a ir y empezar un trabajo nuevo en otro lugar porque no podía estar con ella? Él era tímido al extremo, comprendía su personalidad introvertida pero me hubiera gustado que se esforzará más, lo hizo al final pero senti que el héroe dejaba mucho que desear. Solo Lisbeth se arriesgabar por amor. También me gustó que por ella saliera más y se hiciera amigo de la gente del pueblo.
En general fue una linda historia y me gustó el final.🎄

Lisabeth is the mail carrier in this small snowy town who happens to have a crush on the town grump. Alexei is said grump who happens to be a renounced scientist & also happens to have a reciprocating crush on Lisabeth. This takes place during a gift exchange and you get to read about what *gifts* they decide to give each other.
This was super hot and atmospheric! I am also a sucker for mutual pining, so I loved that in here :)

That was incredibly sweet and I loved everything here.

Scientist gone postal.
I thought this was super cute. I even got a virgin hero which I love and it was believable because he was a nerdy scientist that was awkward and had zero social skills.
I don’t usually like pushy heroines but with how shy and awkward Alexei was she really was the one that had to push if anything was going to happen.

Gentle little insta-palate cleanser about a socially-inept grumpy hermit of an astrophysicist who falls for his sunshine-y postal worker. Some wording used in the intimate scenes threw me off a bit (can we outlaw “folds,” please?), but overall this was cute and harmless.

This was a cute novella that was about a grumpy scientist and a sunshine postwomen we’re both MC’s are inexperienced. I would have liked more smut but overall very sweet read.

Preface
We need more cutie scientists heroes! He was shy, awkward and the heroine was sweet in a way that was authentic and endearing (instead of the usual “did the fairies replace your brain with a rock?”).
Overall a good novella.

World Building(Immersion): 1.5 🌎💫 Submerged my feet. I could imagine much but as someone who is from the academia I could smell the mold in the hero’s office ( and that is because it is brand new! In the old ones we get too SEE it).

We need more cutie scientists heroes! He was shy, awkward and the heroine was sweet in a way that was authentic and endearing (instead of the usual “did the fairies replace your brain with a rock?”).
Overall a good novella.
