Rebel Kings MC #1

Devil's Dance

Rate this book
Opposites attract. The outlaw biker and the accountant. Straightlaced vs straight to hell. Or heaven, depending on how you look at it.

And you can look at it any way you like, doesn’t mean it’s true. Either way, falling for snarky Alexei Ivanov is the lightbulb moment I’ve been waiting for my whole damn life. Or at least since my head got turned by someone else. A man I call brother, but he's so much more than that.

I’ve loved Saint Malone for years. My loyal wingman has owned my heart so long I figured it had died of yearning for him. But Saint is as fragile as he is deadly. I don’t know how to help him until Alexei brings me to life in ways I can’t describe.

He opens my eyes, and I see them both.

I love them both.

With the weight of the underworld bearing down on me, I just gotta stay alive long enough to tell them.

Devil’s Dance is the first in a hurt/comfort, dark romance, MMM duet from the world of the Rebel Kings MC. Expect: tattoos and leather, an enigmatic Russian hitman, and dark and dirty themes.

*Trigger warnings: childhood abuse, sex work, graphic violence, death.

I need a favor. I want you to let your eyes slip shut while you take a deep breath and slowly let it go, I’ll wait here. Done? Okay, good. I needed you to release any presumptions or expectations before we begin. There’s a lot of unpack here and no room for baggage. I’m not even going to try to share everything. Honestly, I don’t want to. And if you tried to guess, I can guarantee you’d be wrong. Yes, we have bad boy bikers with hearts of gold. Yes, we have forbidden love finally freed. Yes, there’s an exhilarating journey in a gorgeous setting waiting for your first step. But Christ on a bike, there is so much more.

Motorcycle clubs are more than a community. They go beyond the kinship of family. Greater than flesh and blood, they are bound by fierce loyalty and willingness to bleed for one another. And these boys do. Despite the many battles won, they are losing a war they didn’t know they were fighting. Cam O’Brian is the king of kings. He was born into club life and inherited his position at the top when his father died. He is a complicated creature. Even more perplexing is his relationship with his sergeant-at-arms, Saint Malone. When Cam picks up a sexy stranger in a bar he had no idea his entire world would shift. Falling into bed with Alexei is better than his hottest dreams. Until he realizes there’s a piece missing.

I don’t gravitate towards poly relationships. Not that I believe there is a single thing wrong with them, it was Garrett herself that blew my mind open with my all-time favorite trio in Misfits; it’s just because I’m so finicky when it comes to more than two hearts. I don’t care for a power imbalance. And I don’t like it when two are fused, and the third holds on from the outside. What I crave when a relationship expands past the walls of two is the vital importance of each piece. I want the intricacy and depth that create this type of bond. As expected, Leigh delivered exactly what I was looking for. There are different reasons for multi-partner relationships, and this triangle is full of fire.

Cam and Saint have loved one another for years. They are more than brothers in the club but haven’t been able to move past invisible barriers. Did you know there are three elements required to start a fire? Yep, you need heat, fuel, and oxygen. They are each interdependent but absolutely critical. Cam and Saint are hardly lacking heat. They have quietly, in full view of their brothers, longed for each other from their self-imposed bubbles. Next up is fuel. The small piles of tinder they’ve passed each other tower like a bonfire. They don’t just know each other, they have memorized every piece of their souls. And still, their embers merely glow. Then Alexei charges in with a gust of oxygen and their bubbles burst. Ironically, he claims his soul is dead when he is the one to breathe life into the love Cam and Saint share. My heart raced until it shattered, but I had faith Garrett would piece me back together. This is one-half of their story with only two voices speaking, and you will wish for the third. Can they outrun their fears by shifting into another gear? Will you catch the wispy gossamer of familiar faces? Sing to me Saint, I can barely stand the wait!

Beware of: Rough love, tender kisses, and melting hearts. A wingman that might actually be an avenging angel. And an emotionally charged love triangle ignites…and combusts.

This book is for: If you revel in triple doses of love and can hang on till their finale, this dance is for you. Although heed the author’s warnings, this dark and dangerous ride isn’t for everyone.

I never read blurbs, because I love to raw dog every book I experience...
AND DAMN IT FEELS GOOD WHEN THAT PAYS OFF, BECAUSE SURPRISE MMM NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO ME MORE OFTEN????
Holy fuck that was hot 🥵🥵🥵
It's a biker gang president and a mysterious man who he meets in a bar, who is just the best ever.
MY SWEET BABY TEDDY.

And the tension?????????
ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY PALPABLE!
You could have cut that shit and eaten it with knife and fork.
I'M FUCKING SAT 🍽️
I was choking on my tongue at 5% in, like r u kidding me?

The "You can have me once, and only once" but they continue to think about each other UNTIL THEY CAN'T RESIST???????????.....................

I think this hit so well, because it really established 2 of our MC's with this minor overarching presence of the third MC, who popped in and out of the story LIKE THE HOT AND MYSTERIOUS BADDIE HE IS.
Fuck, I am ready to read book two and see how they all rail eachother silly and maybe talk about their feelings 🤭🤭

Devil’s Dance is book one in the Rebel Kings MC series by Garrett Leigh. This is my very first book by Garrett. This is a MMM MC Romance that is gritty, hot as a thousand suns, but at the same time, sweet and swoony. I just finished the last page five minutes ago and I am literally vibrating. This book was everything! It is also part of a duet so you need to plan going in that you won’t want to wait to dive right into the next book, Saint’s Song.

Cameron (Cam) O’Brian is the president of the Rebel King’s MC. He has been since the death of his father years before. If there could be a MC president with morals, that is Cam. He is slowly trying to bring the club legitimacy. But it’s a slow process and not everyone agrees with him. Cam has the world on his shoulders, so all he wanted was some air, to have a drink somewhere far away from the club. And that’s when he saw him, the beautiful man with the eyes he couldn’t look away from. Alexei Ivanov.

“Is one beautiful biker not enough for you?”

Alexei is a man of many secrets. A past that would easily make you weep when you learned of the details. Alexei was just sitting in the bar, reading the paper, when their eyes met. And suddenly his world shifted and his priorities changed.

Saint Malone is Cam’s sergeant at arms. Alexei likes to call him Cam’s wing man. Because where Cam goes, Saint goes. Cam has loved Saint since the first time he laid eyes on him. But he has never let himself go there.

“Our stories from the past were different, but the beast that had made us men was the same.”

Cam, Lexi and Saint. Three men with dark pasts. Three men whose loyalties are about to be tested to the limits. Three men who never really knew themselves until they came together and opened their hearts. Three men who had never really lived until they found each other and would now easily die for each other.

“Being brave wasn’t about not being afraid. It was about facing your fears head on.”

This book! It has consumed me the last two days. I could think of nothing else but these three men. Someone wants Cam dead. Lexi will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that doesn’t happen. As will Saint. This is fast paced, steamy and amazing. I adored this beautifully written story and I can’t wait for more.

“I will always want you.”

Not sure I have adequate enough words to describe how much I loved this book.

It's 3am and I just finished reading it having picked it up earlier. I simply couldn't put it down.

I'm off to bed now to try and see if that helps me find words 🤪

***

Right, a week later I'm back! What can I say about Devil's Dance other than it is spectacularly good?

It has men who stretch the boundaries of acceptable behaviour - and push them right over - and I was totally here for it.

As a trio, I don't think there could be a more perfect match than Cameron, Alexei and Saint. Each of them is such a compelling character in their own right, but put them together and they light up the pages like a firework display.

Cameron is a man with a conscience, he's trying to follow in his dad's footsteps as President of the Rebel Kings and move the motorcycle club away from dodgy deeds and into legitimate business. But, there's resistance and there's agreements made before he was Pres that he's having to find a way out of.

This means life is lived on a knife edge, there's danger every time someone steps out of the club and then there's Alexei. He starts off as a random encounter in a grotty pub but for both he and Cam, it rapidly turns into something else, something more.

Seeing these two together is like pouring oil on water, they ooze and flow around the surface but it's what's happening underneath that's vital, because they mix like the perfect spice blend into something which is hot enough to burn but sweet enough to soothe all the pain.

But, for all they want each other, both know something's missing and when Alexei first encounters Cam's Sergeant-at-Arms Saint, he realises that he's it.

The pacing throughout this book was perfection. It fluctuates between moments of calmness, a peaceful break before all Hell literally ensues. While most of this book focuses on intimacy between Cam and Alexei, Saint is not the "third wheel" by any stretch. He holds a permanent place in both Cam's head and heart and soon Alexei is beginning to bond with him over their need to keep Cam alive.

Without spoiling anything, this book is everything I never knew I wanted in an MC romance. It has elements of such softness and kindness, married with such ruthlessness and dedication to both power and protection that it makes you wince.

I loved all the damaged, broken and beautifully conflicted bits of it!

Also this cover, one of Garrett's absolute best imho!

I’m not really sure how I managed to finish this book… I think I just didn’t have the energy to look for anything better? So I just resigned myself to this? I know, sometimes I don’t understand myself either. 😂

Devil’s Dance was my first Garret Leigh, but if this is her usual writing style, I’ll have to give the rest of her work a hard pass. The way the characters were talking (and thinking, it’s dual 1st person POV) was so damn convoluted! There were metaphors on top of metaphors, I don’t think there was ONE plain sentence in there! 😵‍💫 Maybe if she toned it down a bit, this would actually be somewhat enjoyable, but as it was, I was rolling my eyes every few minutes.

As you can see, I had more issues with this book than just the “tangling cocks” phrase that was used two (2) times here.

I will not be continuing this series.

Okay, so here’s the deal.

This book took me a minute to get into - the writing style was a bit jarring at first with all those sharp, abrupt sentences and that constant ever-so-slightly cryptic communication. The pacing was so quick that I felt like the story ran away from me, especially in the beginning. But once I found the rhythm I was hooked.

Because the vibes, lads, THE VIBES and the fucking tension and the found family and the steam - my god, the steam 🥵 - were so gooood 🔥🔥🔥

I ate up all the protectiveness of Alexei and Saint. Like, yes please, gimme more.
We love a murderous love interest who’ll mentally skin people alive just for looking at their man. And here there’s double that?!? Y-U-M-M-Y!!

This read a bit like a fated mates story or at least very insta-lovey, which I’m normally not a fan of but it kinda worked here?
We don’t know much yet about the quiet, broken Saint (very intrigued my him though!), his relationship history with Cam or about Alexei’s backstory, which frustrated me sometimes. But I assume that’ll be fixed in book 2!
Though I’m especially intrigued by Mateo’s and Embry’s story, I just know it’s gonna be good.

Also, side note: while reading I kept thinking that these characters read like such men lol. I genuinely felt like I was in the head of some alpha type guy and that made the reading experience feel authentic even though the whole plot was a bit ott, ngl 😅

I’d place this somewhere between 3,5 and 4 stars and can imagine that it’ll hit harder on a reread after finishing book 2 Saint’s Song, so after you understand more of wtf is going on in general 😅 Had a great time overall though!

It's been too long since I've been able to add a book to my favorite's shelf. Devil's Dance exceeds expectations. I had a concern, the unfinished series, a potential cliffhanger. I am not one of those who enjoys being left dangling in the wind, dying of anticipation... it usually has the opposite effect. Devil's Dance is the first of a duet; however, it ends well, and rather than annoyed about the wait for the next, I felt relaxed, satisfied, and patient. Garrett Leigh unpacks enough about each character and builds the beginning of something precious and right and only steps away from cementing into forever. I enjoyed this story immensely, it's been too long since I've encountered characters that surprised me, that I feel true curiosity about and anticipate their growth as much as the love journey. Also, I should add the MMM aspect feels as natural as breathing, these three don't make sense any other way. Seriously recommend and don't worry about it being unfinished, Garrett Leigh resolves most of the external conflict and cements the emotions between the three mc's enough that you don't feel that frustrated, angry cliffhanger feeling.

Could. Not. Stop. Reading.
This was unlike any other MC book I’ve ever read. Gone were so many of the traditional cliches I love so much. They are replaced with a gritty, modern, suspenseful and still deeply romantic edge-of-your-seat love story.

I really love these characters. Their story is not over yet but there’s only a sense of satisfaction after finishing this. I look forward to book 2.

On paper I should love this one. In reality - not so much. So many seems to love this series but this author is not for me. Something about her writing style doesn't click. And since MMM is not a favourite of mine I'm really picky. Unfortunately it didn't work for me here. At all. Saint felt like the third wheel.

Cam finds himself between two men - the man he’s pined after for years but can’t have, and the man who was supposed to be a one night stand but that he can’t stop thinking about. On top of it all, rivals are threatening his territory and his MC family.

It’s been a while since I read an MC book. It was interesting to see the politics and interpersonal dynamics play out. And of course, that extra rough and wild adds some fun to the mix.

Cam was easy to understand and to root for - he’s dedicated to his club, their dependents, and building legitimate above-board operations. The occasional throwdowns with rivals notwithstanding.

Alexei’s the mysterious dangerous type, so his story is only revealed gradually. But underneath that sharp exterior, he’s vulnerable and fiercely protective.

Both men are used to going it alone, that is until one night together changes everything. They’re smitten, and want more.

I really liked their dynamic - neither wanting or planning for it, but unable to stay away from each other. Alexei and Cam end up needing each other, and revealing parts of themselves that they’d kept buried.

Also the sex - hot, hot, hot. Grade A material.

The other man in this story is Saint - Cam’s long-time friend and his most trusted wingman in the MC. Cam and Saint have skirted around their longing for each other for years, neither ever making a move.

From the moment Alexei and Saint meet, they prioritize looking after Cam together. And along the way, they even find themselves drawn to each other.

The three men, and their bond, are tested when shit hits the fan and puts the MC in direct danger. The action livened up the pace of the story.

Where things hit a snag for me was how little relationship development there was. Alexei and Cam jump to love pretty quickly, while we get the bare minimum on Saint and Cam’s backstory.

I was definitely rooting for the three and happy to see them coming together, but the why and how just wasn’t fully there. Maybe that will come in the next book.

In any case, I’m hooked enough to read on! Recommended if you’re looking for a gritty MMM book with interesting characters and a fun action plot.

This book is why I really don't like 1st person POV unless it's done correctly, this one wasn't. The writing was a hot mess, the inner monologue cringy and TBH I really don't get what Alexi or Saint saw in Cam. I do love a good MC story so am disappointed this one didn't work for me.

Go me for finishing it, despite it taking almost 2 weeks to do so 😬

Wow. Loved it!

I’m not massively into the MC scene, and a bit wary of triad relationships (although I’ve read some fabulous books in that genre), but …
this was awesome and totally sigh-worthy!

All three men are riveting characters with difficult pasts and a massive amount of anguish and hurt between them. There is so much depth, so many facets to each man, so much to discover, it’s simply brilliant writing.

Their romance spans across books 1 and 2, and in this one, the emphasis is on Cam and Alexei. Their deep connection, their intense bond, the sizzling heat and passion is mind-blowing. I loved the way they complement each other, how they soothe and heal each other when the going gets tough. And then unexpected feelings develop, throwing both men into panic and confusion.

As if all this wouldn't make a great book already, the gradual ‘addition’ of Saint, a man Cam has loved for many years, is expertly done: so many feels, so much love, so much tenderness.

And none of this is awkward or strange. Not for them and not for us readers. I completely understood why these men worked fabulously as two, but even better as a triad.
By the end of this book Cam, Alexei and Saint have just found to each other, and I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops in book 2.

Of course, there’s also the tough and rough plot, with quite a bit of violence which constantly kept me on the edge of my seat.

Totally adored this.

I don't usually read motorcycle club books. I've not been that into MCs since Harry Rollins' story arc was over on Sons of Anarchy. But I love Garrett's writing, and the blurb sold me, so I read it and as much as I loved Darkest Skies and DANTE POPE!!, I think I love the Rebel Kings even more. Pretty sure Saint has my heart tucked in his pocket. All three do, but Saint's special.

I was drawn into this world every bit as much as the Dark Skies world, maybe more, and I couldn't put the book down even knowing I had a full long workday ahead of me. Every time I see the cover, I have visions of scenes from it. Cam's growly possessiveness, Alexei's smooth protectiveness, Saint's sweet loyalty.

I'm a possessive wench myself, so a poly book has to be really good for me to see past my own jealousy issues, but these three fit together well. The chemistry between each set of partners and with all three of them sizzles, and the sex is...well, hold on a minute, I need to get a cold cloth from thinking about it.

I want...no, NEED, ALL of the stories from this world. I know there are plenty hiding in there. GAH. So good. I know I'll end up reading this one again before the next one comes out because I love it so much.

RTC but I loved this one so much. I loved everything about it, the characters, the romance, the gang related plots, everything was so well crafted and absolutely fascinating for me to read. I’m so invested in this story and I just cannot wait for the second part of the duology, I want to know more about this story, so badly.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion

I think I have a new author to be obsessed with!

This is my first MMM romance and my god, what a fabulous book! Devil's Dance is the first of two books for Cam, Alexei and Saint's story. This book only features Alexei and Cam's PoV so I'm absolutely gagging for Saint's PoV in book 2.

I've always disliked when it is obvious that the author favours one partner over the other, but Garrett Leigh has managed to find the balance between Cam, Alexei and Saint. The dynamic between Cam & Saint having always been in love but never crossing that line, Cam and Alexei's instant connection after a one night stand and Alexei and Saint's growing connection that I'm hoping will be explored/explained further in book 2. Alexei's little obsession with Saint just warmed my heart and I loved how they were both just stalking/tracking each other.

I definitely have a soft spot for Alexei but that's only because I feel like we learnt the most about him in book 1. I can see Saint joining him very quickly!

Overall, a fabulous mix of MMM romance in a MC club. The author also has me enjoying a book set in the UK, which hardly ever happens!

Ahhh this book !! Oh my my ...

3,5 stars rounded down.

This was the first time I read a book about a MC. It's not my usual thing, but sometimes you have to be brave and explore the unknown, isn't it?
The one other thing that made me decide to read this book, was the fact that I didn't want to miss out on a new Garrett Leigh series. Last year I almost made the mistake to think her Darkest skies series weren't for me (a series about gangs), but they ended up being some of my all time favorite books. I didn't want to make that (almost) mistake again! Plus, I do enjoy an MMM book every now and then too.

So, going into this one I might have had the wrong expectations, and that might have been unfair to this book. I discovered a book about MC's is different from a story about gangs, even though they do have their similarities. It might also have been unfair to compare these new characters to the ones I loved so much from the Darkest skies series, because I didn't nearly love them as much as I did them.
That I rate this book 3,5 stars rounded down, might have something to do with that and I can't shake the feeling of 'wrong book, wrong time' kind of thing.
Look, it's Garrett Leigh, and she can write. Her story's are gritty and raw, written as if they are directly taken from the streets, whether it's an outlawed MC, or and outlawed gang, she always nails it. Her research is thoroughly and has me questioning whether she went undercover or something - it's how real she makes it feel. She has proven to be that awesome writer to me a lot of times already, and it's the reason she has turned into a favorite author. Her characters are often rough on the outside, but soft and caring from within. They are complex, have a troubled past, but are trying. They love whole heartedly and are protective of the person they love. That's no different here. Cam, Alexei and Saint are all that, and as much as it took a while for them to grow on me, they eventually did.
But, what I missed from the very beginning was the relationship development. Cam and Alexei are supposed to be a one time thing. One night only. But they can't forget about each other. And I'm all for that, but when the word 'love' comes around the corner far too soon, I have a tendency to flee the scene and dnf the book. It's by far my most disliked trope, insta-love. I want to experience how these men grow closer, how they get to know each other better, how their feelings for one another develop and grow deeper. I don't want them to have one night of sex and immediately think they can't live a day without being together any more. I don't buy that. Insta-lust? Yes. Insta-love? Nope.
So, yes, that's one of my major complaints about this book, one I have a hard time getting over.
But, as I said, Cam, Alexei and Saint did grow on me, since it's not just about Cam and Alexei, but also about how Saint fits into their romance. Cam has known Saint for a much longer time - Saint is his most trusted wingman, a guy he has been pining for for years, but he has not acted on that, because he doesn't want to ruin what they have. In the past they have shared women, but only for the sex, and never in the ways they are willing to share Alexei, and to allow their own feelings towards each other to develop. Saint has always been there to protect Cam, it's his duty, because he's been in love with Cam for as long as he can remember. With Alexei at his side, he knows they both can keep Cam safe.
And that's exactly what they need to do when trouble, coming from another MC, finds them.

I liked how protective, yet sweet all MC's were towards each other. How they wanted to keep the others safe, and how, at the same time, they dared to be vulnerable around each other. Asking for whatever it is they need.
There's not a lot of background story to Cam and Saint, and about how their relationship began and grew from there. I hope we will find out more about that in the second book. Yes, I will read that one as well, seeing where it takes me and how it goes. If it's able to pull me more into Cam's, Alexei's and Saint's story than this one did. I want to see how their relationship develops and where they end up all together. Since it's a Garrett Leigh book, I already know it will be well written. Now I just need to see if the story lives up to my new expectations.

3.5 Stars!

I didn't love this one was much as I was hoping I would. It's Garrett Leigh so that holds some weight.

But IDK, for starters it didn't really hold my attention. Not sure if it was just too long and drawn out.

It also a felt a bit insta-lovey, not quite enough relationship development. We're told about Cam's feelings for Saint, but Saint really wasn't too present in this one until at least halfway through if not more.

No big cliffhanger ending but definitely a happy for now.

I'm actually intrigued by River...maybe he'll get a book.

Cam is only thirty-two and already president of The Rebel Kings MC.

Cam’s mind is full of Alexei, Cam’s heart is full of Saint, or, maybe even more full of Saint and Alexei at the same time, and together!

Alexei is an enigma, protective to the bone, Cam and Saint are drawn to him.
The dynamic was strong, energetic, passionate and so fucking palpable.
There was an unholy beautiful intensity, it was everything.
Complex personalities, I loved them. Nothing superficial to find, and we dont know them fully, yet!!

While there is a strong intelligent plot with bikers rivalry and much much more, the main story about Cam, Alexei, and Saint, was entwined with it seamlessly. And oh-my-goodness it was good!
This beautifully written layered story has a slow build, revealing breathtaking parts tiny bit by bit, there’s exceptional communication. Dang, it was all so great done and strongly written I was out of breath myself.

Can’t wait for Saint’s Song!!

Wow. Just… wow

description

All praise to Garrett Leigh, deity of the mc/mmm writing gods. You have outdone yourself with this one.

Is it perfect? No. I found ONE singular flaw in the book.

But other than that, this book was perfection.

The audiobook is 👌🏻🤞🏻👩🏻‍🍳 😘
That Russian accent is bring you to your knees perfection.
Their dynamic is the most perfect, most natural flow of a throuple that I've ever seen. I'm not big on MC books, or on mmm but holy freaking crap Garret blew this out of the water. The writing honestly is next level. These characters are real. You can't convince me otherwise. I was in their heads. I was a fly on the wall of their thoughts and lives. I could damn near taste those cigarettes.

Is the book perfect? no. Am I still giving it five stars? yes. Because some books will sit in your soul and just kind of take root and stay there. This is one of those. I didn't even know I needed this shit in my life. I'm a bit worried about book two. While I *do* want to see our boys get more of a solid HEA (btw book 1 is an HFN but you realize it's not going to last when you see ). And I do want to see how their dynamic blossoms and see Saint and Cam finally explore their intense love and devotion for one another, but I'm terrified that things are going to get worse before they get better. And I'm not sure that even Alexei's reputation is going to be enough to save them this go round.

Tropes/themes:
🏳‍🌈 MMM
🏳‍🌈 Motorcycle Club (MC)
🏳‍🌈 Mob/Crime syndicate
🏳‍🌈 Cinnamon Roll mc with one scary mf and one silent tortured soul mf'er
🏳‍🌈 Disability rep (hear me out- Saint really struggles with words. At first I was like, you just need to give him time to talk but when Alexei points out that he can talk if he types it out on his phone I was like oh...fuck... no homeboy got something really going on there. I don't know if it's psychological, or an actual disability that I don't know the name of that afflicts him :( )
🏳‍🌈 Hurt/Comfort. Both lil black cat boi's need some help overcoming their afflictions :( 🖤🖤
🏳‍🌈 True acceptance. The way everyone just accepts the other's "shortcomings" caused me heart palpitations in the best way.

“He always loved you that much. You never asked him what he wanted?”
“What do you think?”

Nash blew out a sigh that seemed to age his pretty face 10 years.

“I think it’s not always about what people want bro. It’s about giving them what they need.

Well this was… not satisfying (so far).

Because of another author’s series I developed a severe and lasting weakness for Motorcycle Clubs (MCs) in the past so I had a feeling this would be a blast for me; especially with this kind of plot and labels.

Sadly the whole MC business was… underwhelming. It didn’t feel not nearly as dark, dangerous or badass as I thought it would (but it is labeled a dark romance). Maybe it was my expectations… but I was disappointed. They didn’t even had guns ffs!

Fortunately I was already familiar with the terminology of an MC (I would’ve needed to stress Google a lot otherwise) because there was no introduction (or a glossary) to certain terms and responsibilities of certain positions that are common in such clubs.

I tried to temper down the annoyance coming from my disappointment and to not compare too much and giving this book an honest chance but I failed.

The storytelling, that felt somehow confusing to me, how the main characters were portrayed and the whole plot, really - it all didn’t work for me very well. And it frustrated the hell out of me bc I was so hooked on the idea of the romances. Not only this one but also the ones to come next.

But sadly I couldn’t care much for it. I’m not sure what to do with this series now. I somehow wanna know where the romance goes from here with Cam & Alexei and later adding Saint into the mix but I also don’t wanna struggle through a book I don’t like much. Maybe I pick it up again one day and give it another chance.

side note: please don’t ask me why I’m a sucker for MC romances while I hate mafia when the inner workings and tropes are not that different. I honestly don’t know *lolll

Have you ever really tried to like a book? A book that the description sounded interesting...maybe something like some others that you had read and liked, so you thought you'd give this one a try? If your answer was "yes" or even "maybe"...then you will totally understand where this 1-star rating...an unusual rating for me came from...and believe me, it was generous. I have spent literally an entire week and a half listening to this book. To this day, I couldn't tell you one single thing that the story is about...who the main characters...or for that matter, any of the characters are, or what in the heck is happening, except that a lot of people are dying, and a few others are finding time to have sex, so I guess they died happy. Maybe it was the narrator, as I have never listened to him before and have to admit that the narration was less than...well let's just say...less. I DO like this author. I've read and listened to several things that she has written and never before have had this problem...so I'm counting this as being a fluke and will certainly try another one, hoping I'm not the "glutton for punishment" that I'm starting to believe I might be:)...but believe me... it WILL NOT BE ANOTHER ONE IN THIS SERIES!!!

Yes yes yes! Garrett Leigh, you have become a #OneClick author for me. I'll have to say it's been a while since I've enjoyed some MC drama, this story worked for me and I'm so excited for more from the Rebel Kings.

Cam and Alexei were pure fire. These two were on point from the start. I loved how they were so in tune with each other. Their bedroom shenanigans were hot and sexy, but the way they read each other like a book was even better. Their interactions were like a beautifully choreographed dance. Eventually Saint was added to the mix and all was right in the world.

I loved the drama, the danger and all that went with being part of a powerful MC. I was completely engaged from the start and I can't wait for Saint's Song. I need to know more about the quiet, yet fierce Sergeant-at-Arms, Saint. I only wish we didn't have to wait until June, but I have no doubts it will be worth it 🖤🖤🖤
