As a mafia soldier, I was no stranger to pain. I took as much as I gave and enjoyed every minute of it. Now, after an accident left me damaged and broken, my every movement was met with intolerable agony.
I had nothing to live for.
Until her. Lyndsey. Who was not only terrified of me and my mafia life, but as a single mother and my physical therapist, was off limits.
She intrigued me and I became obsessed, until all I could focus on was her. The tears she cried. Her fears and the scars that she tried to hide. The threat looming over her and her daughter’s heads.
While she healed my body, she stole my heart, and something in me shifted. When her dark past resurfaced, I knew I would do anything in my power to keep it from taking her away.
Ellie Isaacson has been an avid reader her whole life, but a couple years ago she had a dream that she just couldn't forget. She cultivated that dream and began writing, which became a dream of a different sort. Ellie is thrilled to be able to share her passion with her readers. As an accountant and an author, she slings numbers by day and words by night. She's also a wife and a mother of two amazing boys and one crazy hellion pup.
Angelo & Lyndsey are two broken souls who find each other at the perfect time. These two have lived through more trauma than anyone should, yet it connected them, too. Sweet Laney added to the dynamic of this story so much. I love the world & family that’s weaved within the Syndacite. Ellie has a knack for writing swoon worthy hero’s & Angelo was no exception. Lyndsey is strong & fierce even in her timidness. While this is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Be sure you check out the trigger warnings. Highly recommend this book & the others in this series.
“I love you. I love you, I love Laney, I love everything about being with you both. The way you make me feel, the way you love me back. I love this family. Jan, you, your daughter. I love your body, and your heart, your drive to do better for yourself, your strength. I told myself I would never fall in love, Lyndsey. That I’d never put myself through that kind of pain. But I’d go through hell and back if it means I get to spend this lifetime with you.”
I’ve wanted to get to know more about Angelo from the previous book, this is a standalone no need to read the other book. His and Lyndsey story is emotionally charged. Both are broken in one way or another. Maybe the brokenness in their souls called to the other. Maybe in the pain they can heal one another. Even with Angelo being at his weakest he is a swoon worthy hero. And Lyndsey may be timid but she’s fierce and strong as well. I loved how protective Angelo is of her. And it warmed my heart to see the difference in Lyndsey. She was like a cocoon who became a beautiful flying butterfly. I always love Ms. Isaacson’s writing. The flow is smooth and cohesive. And her plots always have more than I expect. Yeah didn’t see that plot twist coming. But that’s exactly what this author always delivers, that little bit more to keep me on my toes. And I just have to say how much I absolutely loved Laney! See her and Angelo bond and form a connection is just pure joy and heartwarming.
Absolutely loved Angelo and Lyndsey’s story and I did not want to put it down❣️
Angelo if you remember was previously injured during a car accident and then a shooting not long thereafter. From these he sustained injuries that were so severe he had all but given up being able to do what he could previously because of the pain. Zee and D’Angelo decide to set him straight and send him to see a physical therapist which is where Lyndsey comes in😁
This story flowed so beautifully and even though there are some darker aspects that are mentioned in regards to this couple, and all they have survived -it was downright amazing. But even better is how they fit together into each others lives was just incredible. I couldn’t help but get a little teary in parts😢
I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review and I’m super excited to read Zee’s story next❤️
The Soldier is book 4 in the D'Angelo Syndicate series by Ellie Isaacson, and has jumped straight in as my new favourite.
Suffering from injuries he sustained in a car accident, Angela does not want to let anyone to know how weak and badly affected he is. He's gradually shutting himself off from the world and wallowing in his pain. However his boss, and father figure, D'Angelo sees anyway and send him to get treatment.
And that's where the magic happens. Lindley is his physio. A single mum, scared of everything, with very good reason.
Can Angelo help herovercome her fears to trust him enough to let her in, and can he protect her and her daughter.
This author has definitely grown and found her stride since I last read one of her earliest books. This one did conflict me at times, but once everything started happening and I truly got into it, I couldn't not love it. And how could you not give that sweet girl all the stars either. You'll probably get that cute facial expression if you don't. This book had so many unexpected twists that you will find yourself captivated by. I'm so glad I gave this author another chance and look forward to reading more by her in the future.
Absolutely loved Angelo and Lyndsey! This series has totally captured my heart. It’s intense and fast paced with plenty of deliciously steamy moments!
‘Together, we could make it through.’
The care and healing between these characters both individually and together is incredible. There’s so much loss but also hope and the potential for love and acceptance.
I love how Ellie Isaacson crafts a story and infuses so much into every page. There’s suspense and romance but the intensity always wows me and I can’t get enough!
And that ending?! Gah! I cannot wait for the next one!
Freaking leave me on a partial cliffhanger here?! No spoilers so not gonna say who but considered me intrigued… Mafia romance with plenty of spicy scenes but since they were both trauma survivors it builds to it. I honestly think Laney stole the show but who can resist an adorable little girl? I loved the moments when Lyndsey was so strong on her own but still showed her vulnerability. Her combined with Angelo, where they both have physical and emotional scars to contend with are a perfect match. Few suspenseful scenes but ends happily.
Two broken souls that are a perfect fit! I love it!
The Soldier is one Mafia romance that has tons of drama that kept me glued to my Kindle. Angelo is one hero I would want on my side! Angelo and Lyndsey are two people who have not had easy lives, but together they learn how to heal the scars of their tortured pasts. These two definitely spark up the pages with their undeniable chemistry and Laney is the most adorable 4 year old who will melt your heart. I love how this story is so addicting and I love how certain things are revealed that keep you intrigued for more.
The Soldier by Ellie Isaacson tore my heart to shreds!!! It’s the story of Angelo and Lyndsey. Angelo is deep in the mafia, but had a severe injury. Lyndsey is brought in to help him. But, she has troubles and trauma of her own to deal with.
This story was heart-wrenching. But, watching the characters grow into their own was so satisfying. Each character was unique and I was quickly endeared to both of them!!! This story is packed with danger, shocks, fear, loathing, pain, heat, and lots of romance!!
Angelo and Lyndsey were perfect for each other. I liked their chemistry and the progression of their relationship.
Angelo is dealing with a lot and I liked how realistic his pain and trauma was.
This book was dark. I had to take a break and would have loved more breaks or some happier times throughout. It was from mental health and dealing with physical pain to some pretty dark trauma then to another different type of trauma.
Overall it was written well but be prepared this is definitely darker than previous books.
The Soldier by Ellie Isaacson Releases 3/9 ⭐️4/5 🔥4/5 This is part of the D’Angelo Syndicate series but all can be read as stand-alones. A soldier for the syndicate gets badly injured in a car accident and he is being forced to do physical therapy after refusing forever. Meeting his therapist changing everything he thinks of the world. I did enjoy book but im not a huge fan when a character is badly injured, just makes me uncomfortable with all the pain they have. That’s just me lol
Two broken souls that are a perfect fit! I love it!

Angelo is part of the mafia and Lyndsey has had a tough time in life. The two have much in common as well as differences that make their attraction pure fire. Tough times make for strong people. A good read.
I love Lyndsey and Angelo! He is so broken, and she is the perfect doctor for him, because she is a little broken as well. I love their dynamics, and how he is almost instantly protective of her. She is a little shy and timid at first, but you learn why. She also grows through it which is amazing to watch. Finding out how close they are intricately tied together was such an amazing plot twist that blew my mind! No spoilers though. The connection between Laney and Angelo also grabbed my heart and kept me close to happy tears through a good portion of the story. Amazing read!
Angelo lives alone and stays isolated as a Mafia soldier his injuries from an accident keep him in constant pain. When he is forced to go to Physical Therapy he meets Lyndsey. She helps this broken soldier heal inside and out. In the process she and her daughter Laney become his world. I loved the way they bond especially they way he loved Lyndsey and Laney so fiercely. They supporting characters just added to making this a great unique mafia story.
