J.L. Sanchez is a big lover of romance, paranormal romance and sci-fi genres. She has been a voracious reader since she was a child when she first fell in love with books. She’s a wife to her high school sweetheart and a supermom of four who spends her days trying to make her minions into decent little humans. She worked for over fifteen years in the office world until she had her first child. She lives in sunny South Florida and has a love/hate relationship with the unpredictable weather there, though it never fails to inspire her.
Although this book is not the genre I would normally read, I found the story solid, intriguing, exciting, and it left me wanting more. This book jumps right in and moves at a satisfying pace. By the time I was done reading, I was anxious for the next book in the series. If you are interested in fantasy and romance, this is the perfect book for you.
That said, this is an adult themed book and I would not recommend it for children or teens.
I can’t wait for the next in the series to come out so I can discover the next chapter of Lena’s story!
Fun, fast-moving fantasy romance! I really enjoyed this first book in the Metamorphosis series. I love a good mate bond trope and this one had a unique, very romantic spin to it. An interesting world too. Combined with great spice and lots of romance.
I loved how devoted Carlos was to Lena and getting his POV was a huge bonus that worked so well, hearing his thoughts for her in his own words. I really appreciate a first person pov too and the author did a great job with making the characters distinct and likeable.
I'm a huge romance reader, so that was definitely my favorite part and this is just one of my fav "all the feels" quotes I marked:
"Everything that happened was perfect, and I always wanted to remember this moment as the moment that we finally came together as one."
Be prepared for a cliffhanger, but it totally works. And the best news is, book 2 is out - off to go get it now!!
I'll start off by saying Fantasy is not a genre I normally read but I was intrigued by the premise of a species of half-human, half-butterfly people and their struggles to keep their species alive. I really liked how Carlos was so into Lena!! His devotion to her is one of my favorite types of book boyfriends. Some other tropes in this book are Protector/Alpha Male, Shifters, Fated Mates, Royalty, Spicy Romance, Friends to Lovers, Secret Lost Heir If you are into spicy romance with a big fantasy element, definitely try this title by JL Sanchez! Consider picking up the 2nd title in this series, Chrysalis of Hope where you can read more of Carlos, Lena, and their friends!
One day I’ll learn not to judge a book by its cover, that day was not today. I was expecting a low spice coming of age Paranormal story, which is partially true. But you also get adorably growly Carlos and his second Seth who both want the mystery girl they know they need. Carlos and Lena were destined from the start. Each page they learn something new about each-other and the place they’re both from. We do get left on a cliffhanger which is fine because the next book comes out later this year!
This was a fun, fast paced story, with an interesting plot-line. I particularly loved the butterfly species, which was a refreshing change in the PNR space. They reminded me of the fae so much, so I immediately loved them. Their history, the mystery of their mortal enemies. The political intrigue and corruption. I'm usually not drawn to fast-burn romances, but I really enjoyed Carlos and Lena's story. I'm a big fan of the mating heat--fated mates situation. It's super hot with plenty of spice and chemistry.
When the main character woke up with huge, purple wings, I was like "let's go"!! The story caught and intrigued me from the very start which I loved. It's sexy, well-written, and electric. The characters kept me flipping pages rapidly all the way to the end. This is a definite "must read".
I was engrossed by Lena’s missing night dilemma from page one. Her story and dramatic connection with Carlos pulled me through into her new world of lessons to be learned from Carlos, and other mystery sources. Great fun for fantasy romance readers.
This was a wonderful book, and I would have given it a five if it didn’t end on a cliffhanger. I really dislike when books end on a cliffhanger, but it was still a really well written book and I really enjoyed it.
Oh my this book was great love the story and I love how they met Carlos is a sweetheart and Lena so loving and caring. I recommend this book you won’t be disappointed
I'm going to leave this unrated because I didn't quite mesh with the prose but was intrigued by the overall concept - I'm glad to see others are really enjoying it!
Wow, this is a fast pace, well-written, fantasy romance...and funny! Lena morphs into a butterfly, but still has time to worry about the hot guy knocking on the door. I loved the characters and premise.
