Johnny is a little boy with a big imagination. One day he pretends to be a big scary dinosaur, the next day he’s a knight in shining armor or a playful puppy. But when the internet people find out Johnny likes to make-believe, he’s forced to make a decision between the little boy he is and the things he pretends to be — and he’s not allowed to change his mind. From Daily Wire personality and bestselling author Matt Walsh comes a timely tale of innocence, identity, and imagination.
Matt Walsh is a popular writer, speaker, and one of the Right's most influential voices. He is the host of The Daily Wire's Matt Walsh Show, where he boldly tackles the tough subjects and speaks out on faith and culture in a way that connects with his generation and beyond. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and young children.
According to several sources this book is an Amazon best seller but it is no longer available on Amazon for Kindle, so I watched Matt Walsh read the book to a group of children. At this time it is easy to find on You Tube.
An excellent thought provoking book to which the children reacted very well. There were a few words which obviously baffled the children and had to be explained by Mr. Walsh.
The story reminded me of trying to answer our young daughter's questions about trans issues. I told her that they believe a boy can say he is a girl and he is. A girl can say she is a boy and she is and must be treated as a boy. Our daughter proclaimed this to be silly. She said that if that were true she could say that she is a wolf and would be one.
This book has to do with pointing out the outlandish claims of transgenderism and children. I always enjoy Matt Walsh and I think this book points out a big issue in today’s world in a funny and witty way for kids to understand.
People on the right are so afraid of someone telling their children that they’re allowed to have complex emotions & be themselves that they’re now ?? Writing propaganda for kids?? Imagine writing political “satire” in the form of a children’s book & then having people defend it by saying well kids won’t get it to the fullest extent anyways. Okay then don’t write it? You’re being needlessly cruel to people that want nothing but to be themselves… for why? Gender is a literal made up construct. Let people live, you fucking morons. I just cannot even begin to imagine a world where I ever understand the convoluted thought process of a conservative or right-winger. You’re sooo afraid of some made up idea that the left indoctrinates students in schools that you’re going to turn around and brainwash those same students to further your own PERSONAL beliefs, ideologies, and political opinions.
Every word, every illustration, every fibre of this book is pointlessly cruel trash. It is wild that anyone could read Johnny the Walrus, agree with its message, and think they're pro-children's welfare.
Wonderful read! This book does a great job at showing the beauty of a child’s imagination and how sometimes parents can go overboard with allowing kids to make their own decisions at an age where they themselves do not fully understand what consequences those decisions will have. I can’t wait for more to come and will be filling my children’s shelf with every book this man blesses us with. Great work of literature from the best selling children’s author, Matt Walsh.
This book uses the most slippery slope type arguments against a group of people who do not have as much support from their families, schools, communities, or their country as the author would gave you believe for his fearmongering tactics. Instead of reading your kids this book, you could raise them with even just a crumb of empathy.
A satire on the trans experience deserves no place on this site or in any store. This is disgusting and unabashedly transphobic. Congrats Matt, Level 99 Troll status unlocked, now please go away.
My favorite part was when Matt called the zookeeper, who (un)surprisingly looks similar to Matt, the voice of reason. (Watch his storytime reading of the book.)
This is a great children's book about identity and it explains to children about how in this crazy world some one can say they are something and therefore they are.
This Amazon Best Seller is probably the best book, that Amazon has listed as an LGBT book, I’ve read all year. It really gets to the heart of the issues in a fun and kid friendly way, although it is really good for people of all ages. It is certainly a 5 Star book, which is why Amazon locked the reviews with 98% 5 Star and only 2% 4 Star reviews. Clearly anyone who rates this book at a 3 or below is just trolling and probably didn’t read the book. It’s probably best for the trolls not to read it anyway, it might result in accidental thinking, and we can’t have that… or opinions that differ from theirs.
I watched the video on YouTube of Matt reading this book. I loved it! If my children were still young I would definitely buy it for them. Thank the lord I didn't have to raise my kids during all this indoctrination, insane sexual and mental abuse of our children. My children are teenagers now and yes, as you crybabies say, we "brainwashed" our children to understand science and biology! With that being said, I read through the reviews. I find it ironic that the same people saying a 2 year old toddler can pick their gender are the same people saying children won't even understand this book. I also find it comical in these reviews some say children won't understand the book, are also the ones that say this is teaching children to hate, to be "transphobic", and some even said traumatic for toddlers. I have a brain, and use common sense and logic. So can someone explain how you can teach a child to hate or traumatize them by reading a walrus book, but at the same time they won't understand it? Also how children at two years of age have the mental capabilities to understand everything that goes along with sex, gender, identity, sexual attraction, partners, etc well enough to "pick" their gender? Yet, they can't understand a book about imagination and a walrus! Please make it make sense!! Can the left at least do that?! 🤣🤷🏼♀️
I enjoyed Matt Walsh reading this aloud on Youtube. I've always loved Matt's dry sense of humor. I would have given the book 5 stars, but I felt like the illustrations could have been better (sorry, illustrator).
Futile garbage describes every thread of this book. A grown-ass man writing propaganda about being trans youth and disguising it in the form of a “Children’s book” while crucifying an already vulnerable community of people is fucking disgusting. Trying to fear-monger children who can’t even comprehend the implicit meaning behind this pile of trash is so absurd. Holy shit these bigots need to let people be.
Nothing but intentionally misleading propaganda. The whole book is just the Slippery Slope fallacy but in the form of a concept that kids this age won't even comprehend. I'm glad it's no longer available on Amazon. Also, the illustrations are awful and looks like somebody's teenager tried to very badly emulate tumblr art. I'm heartbroken to see all of the adults in the comments excited to create more hate through their children and potentially emotionally and mentally traumatize their own children.
Perfect. Matt Walsh is not only the #1 children's LGBT+ author in America, but the world. Supporting Matt Walsh in his journey to create amazing children's books will continue for me, hopefully soon more books like this will be out to read to my kids and foruself on rainy days. Be sure to support the LGBT+ community by buying this book and giving Matt Walsh a great review.
You will notice people giving this book 1 star say it’s transphobic, however the book doesn’t contain any mention of trans or trans issues. If you draw the conclusion that this book has anything to do with transgender individuals you are the transphobic one. This is just a cute book about a child’s silly imagination.
the messaging in this book is transphobic, unrealistic and not appropriate for children at all. words like "bigot" should not be in a book for kids. STOP FEEDING KIDS PROPAGANDA. They say "Don't force your gay/trans agenda on kids!" and then proceed to force their homophobia and transphobia on children. - anyway #transrights
All the stars. Matt Walsh strikes again with a literary masterpiece, well deserving of a spot on your shelf next to "Atlas Shrugged" and "1984". (Obviously I'm being sarcastic. But, the book is a wonderful children's story with a wonderful message for young and old alike.)
