Deja Barnett is embarking on a journey to Shenandoah Valley to try on a gorgeous wedding gown. She has a cake tasting appointment all lined up and a walk-thru at the venue to ensure the BIG day is perfect. The only thing is, she’s not the one getting married…
When Deja happily signed on as her sister’s maid of honor, she didn’t expect she’d also be the ‘stand-in’ bride to handle ALL the tasks her busy, real estate sister isn’t able (or willing) to do. She also didn’t expect that her car would break down in a snowstorm on the way to the valley. And she definitely didn’t foresee the talk, dark and handsome, Dare Stokes, coming to her rescue.
After Dare helps Deja to her condo, he thought that would be the last time he saw her. He was wrong. They’re connected in a way that neither of them can believe, but another connection is swirling between the single, ditsy woman who men didn’t quite ‘get’, and the handsome bachelor who had his heart broken six years ago.

If you’re looking for spice and smut this ain’t the book for that. What this book is is refreshing and palate cleansing. I enjoyed reading about the beginning of Dare and Deja’s relationship and seeing how he realized that he can have love again and she realized that she needed to have more fun. The way their siblings characterized them couldn’t have been further from their true selves. They may have just needed each other to bring it out. I enjoyed Deja’s humor and the way that she didn’t seem to dwell on what others thought about her. Dare was heartbroken but he couldn’t help being around the breath of fresh air that was Deja. I suggest reading this book if you like a good contemporary romance kinda like a Brenda Jackson story where the couples are wholesome and not filled with a bunch of unnecessary drama.
This is the sweetest most sensuous story that I have read in a long time! I was entertained while enjoying a great romantic story without the drama just pure sweet love.
Dare and Deja were so cute together! And the way they met was so random, but Dare is such a good, solid guy so it fit that he would do something so kind. It was nice seeing Deja spark Dare's emotions after him being stagnant for so many years. They were really kinda perfect for each other. Both had annoying family, I wanted to smack both mamas and the siblings. But still, theirs was a slow burn that boiled over at just the right time. This was a beautiful, sweet love story!
It was refreshing to read an FMC with such a sense of humor that still wasn't over the top, and Dare was a classic knight in shining armor. Even the banter between Deja and Kris was entertaining. I was hoping that Deja would tell off her sister and mother for how they treated/spoke to her, but that didn't happen... she just kept putting up with it. At least Dare said his peice to his family.
But I liked the empathy Deja showed Dare regarding his situation, and how she didn't run from her feelings for him. And I love how he went to get Deja. Awesomeness.
I love a rom-com love story. Deja was so much fun. Her quirky ways caused me to laugh out loud many times. And Dare was so laid back and super conservative with his words; I wondered how this would work out for them. Sariah and Rich were another long story; we didn't have time for now. Cliff notes, they irked my hinney. Dare and Deja, however, I adored them and this tale.
Dare and Deja were so unassuming it was cute. Deja was closed off but willing to go above and beyond for her sisters upcoming wedding. Date was hurt by his past love and was just being an all around great guy when bad weather threw them into each other's paths. Fate stepped in with their siblings connection and the rest happened somewhat organically. I loved the naturalness of it.
I loved the clean prose, the passion, the laughter, Joy, the way this book warms the heart. The lessons in overcoming challenges. I found myself wanting to read more and more of it. Thank You Tina Martin for this heartwarming book.
I loved the clean prose. The passion, joy, life lessons, examples in rising above challenges. This book has humor and is thought provoking. !
Story: 4/5 Heat level: 0/5 POV: third person Heroine: Deja Barnett Hero: Dare Stokes Deja goes to Shenandoah Valley to finish some wedding arrangements for her busy sister Sariah. She meets Dare when he helps her after her car breaks down on the highway. Dare turns out to be the brother of her sister’s fiancé. Deja is interested in a relationship with Dare. Dare is still dealing with hurt from his divorce and is wary about starting a new relationship.
This was my first read by this author. It won't be my last. This was an awesome read with so many life lessons. A sweet reminder to Dare to live again. The reminder was given from various members of his family and friend but the best reminder came from Deja. It was like a romantic encounter destined for true love. Will it blossom or die down. Can't wait to read more of their adventure!
Deja and Dare were two alone people not lonely. They both had reasons for their solitude - 0ne from hurt, one from avoidance. Their chance meetings opened a whole new world for both of them. I enjoyed Deja's "no filter" candor and humor. She kept me laughing throughout. The fact that both Deja and Dare were the complete opposites of their siblings gave the book even more interest.
Massacre indeed!!! I'm such a lover of love !!!!! Tina you did an amazing job with the Depiction of love., Not to mention I laugh several time really laughing (the whole falling off nipples) Was priceless. I'm new to your craft and you has an author but you can guarantee I am becoming a new follower and a loyal reader. Many blessings to you!!🤗🤗
I enjoyed the story between Dare and Deja, it was romantic and funny. Deja was a bit weird, but she was a unique lady. I felt bad that Dare was divorced for 6 years and did not get back to dating. There are times when it takes a person to get over something longer than others. Dare was waiting for the right person to come into his life.
This story gave me just right amount of funny and just the right amount of love. I loved Deja's silliness. She was hilarious and that was exactly what Dare needed. She was able to help heal Dare's heart and get him to lossen up and have fun! I really enjoyed this book!
Tina I really enjoyed Dare and Deja’s story. Deja was funny and spoke her mind. Dare was a dream and I am so glad he was able to let go. I finished way too soon but I couldn’t put it down. It was a very easy read. I hope I get to read about their wedding. Nothing like a good book to take your mind off every day living.
I loved this well written love story. The title of this book definitely describes the story within. With interesting well developed characters and a cute storyline. The way they met and the friendship that started it all is just what this couple needed. I can't get enough of their journey and will definitely be reading all of their books.
This was such a sweet and adorable, love story. I absolutely fell in love with Deja and Dare. I honestly did not want it to end, and was so excited when I found out that their love story continues. I just got the Dare in Deja Chronicles Boxed Set: kindle edition.
I was two seconds away from putting the book down, I was mad at Sarah for treat Deja like a maid. But I moved past it and keep reading a great come back story. Well done.
This was a lovely story I really enjoyed reading it. So refreshing to read a book that is clean and romantic at the same time. Amazing read can’t wait to read the the second part for their story.
I just loved strong wounded Dare with the I am who I am Deja take it or leave it what you see is what get. I didn't like or Jolene but Mr Stokes stole my heart.
Good read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Deja was car broke down on the highway in a snowstorm. She was rescued Dare a Good Samaritan. This meeting was the start of something beautiful.
Was a snooze fest. Deja had issues with almost every one. Dare let his ex steal 6 years of his life. Storyline was not based on reality. Standing in for the bride was ridiculous.
This was an absolutely, delightful, love story. The characters and storyline were well developed. I loved the “rivalry” between Deja and Kris and the chemistry between Deja and Dare. I’m ready to jump right into the “Dare and Deja Chronicles”. Well done, Ms. Martin.
Good read for two people that fell in love under different circumstances. One never in love the other after a very bad relationship. They both will had a love they both have coming to them.
No matter what you have gone through good or bad if you have a pure heart life will find a way to cure all you hurts an pains. You may think something as simple as a broken down car won't lead you any where but it can lead to the love of your life.
I truly enjoyed this story. It had every emotion in it. The characters were funny and interesting. I recommend this book to anyone who might be interested in reading something refreshing. Great job as usual Ms. Martin.
This was a beautiful feel good story. Dare and Deja were two people that needed a special person to match their spirit and they found it on a snowy road.
I loved Deja and Dare's story. So looking forward to more!
Dena was such a sweetheart who didn't mind saying what she thought! Dare was a true gentleman helping a woman on the side of the road. I really enjoyed their story!
I love how Ms. Martin gives us strong but vulnerable heros. Both H/h are always likeable even if the secondary characters make you want to roll your eyes. This story was no different. I am looking forward to the rest of their story.
Most times we don’t consider the feelings of husbands who have been cheated on. But this story was a good reminder of the depth of hurt that some men experience. It is important to keep that balance in mind when considering cheaters in marriage. Great story!
Ok,Deja and Dare what a wonderful man meets women story. Listen at first it got on my nerves with Déjà complaining about helping her sister but the tone changed with Dare so the words started to completely enhance it and had me not laughing all through the story.
