IN THE WAKE OF UNPRECEDENTED CALAMITY......a new way of life has taken hold. Under Practical New Ageism, Breathers meditate, do yoga, and tend their gardens free from fear. As parental licensure and civic-minded schools yield increasingly balanced children, the population is primed to drift into the Flow State.

Callie Brown, a rookie cop in the city’s Yoga Enforcement unit, has a passion for compassion and a simmering rage. She moved to the big city seeking a chance to make Captain. When she stumbles upon a yoga teacher from a beloved chain of studios committing fraud, the teacher claims she acted alone, but Callie suspects the crime may go all the way to the top.

Dave Ramos has a huge heart, thin skin, and a rigid BM clock. Newly assigned to the city’s Additive Reduction unit, Dave’s been looking forward to cutting his teeth on the restaurant beat, revising recipes and raiding junk food dens. But when pesticides are detected near the world’s largest outdoor forest garden, Dave finds himself riding shotgun on a career-making case. Now, it’s up to him to find out who sprayed the poison before it’s too late.

As Callie and Dave’s respective leads careen towards each other, they’re forced to contend with uncomfortable truths about themselves and the institutions they hold sacred. They must work quickly, before Breathers begin to fill the vacuum of uncertainty with rumors. As Dave and Callie know all too well, it’s only a few short steps from rumor to conspiracy to anxiety to…

Never again.

Portion Kontrol is Brave New World meets The Wire. It's Portlandia meets Thich Nhat Hanh. It's an absurd sci-fi crime thriller that will leave you laughing, crying, and wondering just how much of a Breather you really are. Finally, a kick-ass novel about mindfulness!

As a stand-up comic, he traveled the country and hosted Big Break, which Splitsider named one of the best alternative comedy shows in Brooklyn, New York.
