I have now read my second book by Pamela Desmond Wright and after reading FINDING HER AMISH HOME I will surely read everything she writes. That’s how much I loved this heart warming, but tugging story. I instantly felt like I was sitting at the Mueller kitchen table helping Abram try and figure out what direction his life was heading to. FINDING HER AMISH HOME is filled with just as much hope as it is with grief. My emotions were all over the place while reading and I was even holding my breath at some parts that I was afraid to keep going. How much more heartache and grief could Maddie put up with? She is running and running fast. She doesn’t want anyone to know about what has her terrified and scared and is afraid to let down the wall around her heart.

FINDING HER AMISH HOME is filled with struggling with the choices we have made and once you start reading, it will be impossible to put down. Keep the tissues close by because this will be one heck of an emotional journey. Will Maddie ever find her place in the world, overcome her grief and fear, and be happy once again? Maddie has a huge secret and won’t share it with anyone. Abram is a troubled soul who has made some bad decisions when he was a teenager that he has many regrets about. He bears the scars of those decisions and doesn’t think anyone can see past them! Maddie hardly notices them and sees what a good man Abram is and knows he has a good heart. Pamela Desmond Wright does a wonderful job of teaching the reader what Maddie and Abram are going through. She really knows how to write about family drama, heartbreak, and forgiveness. I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author. There is quite a bit of suspense in this story that my heart was in my throat most of the time while reading!

FINDING HER AMISH HOME is filled with likable and relatable characters that will find their way into the reader’s heart. Pamela has a way of grabbing your heart and just squeezing it until you swear it is going to burst. Then she hands it back to you, slightly bruised but still in tact. How an author can do that is beyond me, but I love when it happens. Will Maddie ever be able to trust Abram enough to tell him the truth? Maddie used to be Amish until her mother left the community. Can she find comfort in the Amish community of Humble, Wisconsin? FINDING HER AMISH HOME is going to stay in my heart for a long time to come. My heart is still aching for Abram and Maddie after everything they went through.

As we meet the characters Maddie Baum and Abram Mueller we realize just like all of us how beautifully flawed they are. Because of past circumstances they believe they are not good people or worthy of love. Maddie is on the run with her nephew to save the boy's life and Abraham believes he caused a great tragedy. As Maddie is a newcomer in Wisconsin she becomes friends with Abram the shopkeeper and she gets a taste of gentle kindness and the possibility of a romance. Fearing she is not deserving of it and being on edge and ready to flee at any moment to keep her nephew safe we see her holding herself back from what could be.
A beautiful story that shows redemption, faith, self forgiveness, acceptance and love.

Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright is a heartwarming story. I thought Finding Her Amish Home was beautifully written with realistic, developed characters. I enjoyed getting to know Maddie Baum and Abram Mueller. We also get to meet Abram’s extended family plus Wanetta Graff, Maddie’s landlady. Abram is a kindhearted man with a beautiful soul. He is warm, understanding, patient, and generous. It was wonderful how he related to Josh, Maddie’s nephew/son and helped him. We learn about Abram’s past which actually helped to make him into the man he is today. The community of Humble, Wisconsin is a charming setting. There is a warm, welcoming Amish community. I liked how Englischers, and Amish come together on Saturday evenings in the park. This is a unique Amish book. It is not your traditional story. I enjoyed how the faith element was woven into the story. It is well-done without being preachy. Finding Her Amish Home has compassion, generosity, understanding, love, faith, patience, friendship, and family. All the elements work together to deliver an emotional, tender story. My favorite phrase from Finding Her Amish Home is, “The Lord warns that we will have tribulations. Not if, but when. And faith means knowing He will hold us close as we walk through the gloom and lead us back to the light.” I look forward to more stories set in Humble, Wisconsin. Finding Her Amish Home is a warmhearted tale with a belligerent boy, a caring community, sociable skating, kinship in the park, welcome work, a terrifying trouble, and a generous God.

Finding Her Amish Home was a heartwarming story that focused on the importance of community, as well as accepting God’s forgiveness. Maddie Baum was a unique character. Due to circumstances outside of her control growing up, she lived for many years as part of an Amish community, yet was eventually raised in the Englisher world, as well. She carried a lot of guilt over secrets that she was keeping and her lack of understanding regarding communities and shunning.

Abram Mueller was a great character. He was scarred from events in his childhood, both inside and out, yet he had done a lot of growing and learning in the recent past, coming home and dedicating his life to his faith. I really liked the way he handled situations that arose in the story. His background and all that he had lived through made him thoughtful and considerate of others.

I enjoyed the relationship that grew between Maddie and Abram. It felt very natural. I look forward to reading future books set in this community.

A moving story filled with faith, love, and suspense . . .

I read a lot of Amish romance novels because it has been one of my favorite genres for twenty years. What made this book stand out, in my view, is the male lead, Abram Mueller. He is gentle, kind-hearted, patient, and understanding. It doesn't take him long to sense that something is not quite right with the English newcomer to their community and her young son.

Maddie Baum is running from something or someone. She is covering up something horrible from her past in an effort to begin a new life. Her fear has driven her to move across several states to start over in a small Amish community to a place where she has no family ties and where she knows no one.

Her seven-year-old son, Josh, has problems of his own. He is energetic and gets into trouble when he's bored--which is often. His impulsive behavior often leads to some extremely awkward moments for Maddie, and at times she seems unable to handle the strong-willed child and his challenging behavior.

As we move through the story, the author deftly reveals Maddie's past by peeling back layer after layer of the young woman's emotional scars. The author strategically chooses when she is ready to divulge her character's secrets, leaving the reader spellbound.

To my surprise and delight, there was a good portion of suspense in this story. There are many faith messages woven into the plot including forgiveness, hope, healing, not being judgmental of others, and trust. The story is completely clean in language and content.

I received a copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my opinions and thoughts shared here are solely my own.

Author Pamela Desmond Wright has a way of writing Amish fiction books that will hold you from page one, right to the end of the book. Her books always present a new spin on Amish life and are not just the same old love stories. This book is all that and more as the story of Abram and Maddie, along with her young nephew Josh, unfolds. It is filled with compassion, action and romance. If you have never read any of her books, I highly recommend you try them and if you have, you won't want to miss this one. I highly recommend it! I was provided an ARC copy of the book and these thoughts are totally my own.

Finding Her Amish Home
Humble Blessings #1
By Pamela Desmond Wright

Maddie Baum is the only mother her nephew Josh can remember and she's determined to protect him from the father she blames for her twin sister's death. Leaving Pennsylvania behind for a small unknown Amish community in Wisconsin seems to be her best option.

When she gets a friendly welcome from Abram Mueller, she feels that perhaps she has found her forever home. Most welcome Maddie and Josh but not everyone is happy about an Englisher spending time as part of the community.

Finding Her Amish Home is a story of new beginnings, second chances, and hope. The story is fairly straightforward with one wondering just what Maddie isn't sharing. One is rooting for Maddie and Abram to get the family that they have wanted but seemed unattainable. This is also a story of fear - fear of what might go wrong, of rejection, and of letting go of the past and its mistakes. Overall a good story and a good fit with the Love Inspired brand.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

In Finding Her Amish Home, Maddie Baum, on the run when her young nephew Josh, the son of her slain twin sister, lands in Humble, Wisconsin. She is the only mother Josh has known, and she’s vowed to protect him from his father, the man who killed her sister.
Humble is an Amish community, and Maddie has Amish roots. She loves the Amish way of life, and deeply missed it when her mother whisked she and her sister away from it when they were younger. Their mother was shunned, and Maddie thinks she was, too. She doesn’t realize she was just a “youngie” back then, not held responsible for her mother’s actions.
Maddie gets a job at the local Amish Market after meeting it’s proprietor, Abram Mueller. Josh was acting up, and instead of berating them, Abram shows them kindness. He remembers what it was like to be a rambunctious, outspoken boy, prone to acting before thinking…and has the scars to prove it.
As they work together and get to know one another, their feelings for each other quickly grow. But Abram struggles with believing he is worthy of a woman…of Maddie. Who’d want him with the scars on his face? Maddie longs to return to being Amish, but she is burdened with thinking she’d been shunned along with her mother those years ago, plus she is hiding the truth of who Josh is, and why she seems to be looking over her shoulder.
Can Abram trust Maddie with the truth of his past? Can Maddie trust Abram with the truth of her present? Find out as they let “Gott” work in their hearts. I loved this book so much, and SO hope this is just the first in a series. You’ll want to revisit Humble like I do!
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book, but my review is entirely my own opinion.

I enjoyed this, but I had some issues with it that made it almost a 2 star read. All the issues that I had with this book had to do with the FMC, Maddie. If not for her, I feel like the plot and the MMC would have carried this story to four or five stars.

Maddie lies to her nephew Josh for 5 years of his life. She is given the chance to come clean and obviously needs to (based on the plot), and she still lies to him. She is not a good parent. I get she was forced into guardianship, but it's been years, and the way it's written, we are supposed to regard her as this amazing patient and loving parent.

I just didn't connect with Maddie, and I don't feel like Abram and her had any real basis for their relationship. it kind of seemed like he was just excited a female was interested, and she was husband shopping (even though she told herself she wasn't).

I love Amish romances, but this one was not it.

Get ready for a marathon read! You are not going to want to put this one down. It reads very quickly though if that’s any help. Simply put this is a wonderful book and the characters are going to reach out and grab you and never let you go.

I really enjoyed meeting Maddie and Abram and of course Josh. I’m a sucker for little kids and Josh definitely stole my heart. Abram is the Amish shopkeeper. And Maddie is running for her life and that of Josh after her twin sister is killed.

How’s that for immediate suspense and mystery? Got you hooked? Better go pick up your copy.

I really want to meet Maddie now because I think we’d be great friends. But also I love the theme of the book that no matter what we’ve done it does not define us and we are so much more than just our mistakes. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes to help us see past our past.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. 4.5 stars.

Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright is an incredibly heartwarming Amish romance.

When Maddie Baum needs to relocate to keep her son Josh safe, she moves to a town with an Amish community. She is searching for a new beginning but she also hopes to recreate the sense of community she experienced as a child. Maddie’s previous decisions are weighing on her as Abram Mueller and his family and friends welcome her and Josh with open arms. Will her guilt prevent her from opening her heart to the opportunity to return to her Amish faith?

Abram is a kind-hearted man whose past leaves him weighted down with regrets for a tragic mistake. He is unfailingly generous with his time and assistance to anyone in need. Abram is charmed by Maddie and due to his own childhood experiences, knows exactly how to help Josh with the issues the young boy is experiencing. Josh is a steadying presence for Maddie and Josh but does she return his deepening emotions?

Finding Her Amish Home is a delightful romance with appealing characters. Maddie is very mature for her age due to the heartache she has experienced in her life. Abram is a wonderful man but he cannot let go of his past mistakes. The romance between Maddie and Abram is very sweet.  The storyline is engaging and deals with issues that are relatable and realistically portrayed. With a gentle undercurrent of faith, Pamela Desmond Wright brings this charming romance to a very touching conclusion.

Amish Christian Fiction is my favorite genre to read. I also really enjoy the LOVE Inspired books. Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright is the latest book I have read. The book is Book 1 in the Humble Blessings series.

Maddie Baum is trying to protect her nephew, Abraham, from his father. Her Twin Sister has been murdered and she will do anything to protect her nephew. She has arrived in Humble, Wisconsin in an Amish Community. She meets Amish shopkeeper Abram Mueller and they immediately become friends. She takes a job at the store and she and Abram begin to really fall for each other. Abram's Grandfather isn't sure Maddie is a good fit for his grandson and afraid Abram would move away from the Amish Community. The both has pasts that might hinder a long term relationship. Will Maddie be able to keep her nephew safe from his Father? Will Maddie and Abram be able to have a long term relationship?

Such a heartwarming and LOVING story! I really LOVE how Maddie takes her nephew and raises him as her own. She only wants to the best for him and she achieves that. Abram Mueller is a kind and wonderful character in the book. He is caring and loving with Josh, Maddie's Nephew. Maddie is hiding a BIG secret and Abram has a past. They were both able to reveal and work through those issues. I really LOVE how Maddie settles into the "Simple Life" of the Amish Community. This is a book about Faith, Hope, Forgiveness and LOVE. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who enjoys Amish Christian Fiction! FANTASTIC BOOK!

I'm rounding this one up to 3.5 stars because I really did end up liking it, however, I did find the start slow (IMO) and I put this book down to read probably about five others before I decided I was ready to go back into it.

Finding Her Amish Home was a sweet story of finding your way home except in a different state. Maddie Baum escapes to Wisconsin Amish country in the hopes of evading her nephew's father who has a criminal background isn't good news.

Overall, I liked Finding Her Amish Home.

Finding her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright, is the first book n the Humble Blessings series. This is an easy to read story that is well written. It was so easy to imagine what was happening and the surroundings. It was enjoyable to read of the differences between the Amish community Maddie grew up in and the one she moved to. One of several differences is she thought since her mother was shunned, she was also. I enjoyed how the author showed Maddie’s strength and Abram’s generosity. Maddie does what ever she has to for her nephew. Abram gave Maddie a job the first time he saw her and when her nephew was struggling, he offered him a job as well and spent time with him, keeping him busy and out of trouble. It was enjoyable to see the change in the young boy.

I have read other Amish fiction books by this author and the book description sounded good so I decided to give it a try. I really liked the main characters Maddie and her son Josh. Despite the traumatic death of Maddie's sister; she rose to the occasion to raise her nephew like her own and never gave up despite several challenges along the way like being homeless at one point.

When they move back to Maddie's amish hometown they meet Abram who is definitely an answer to prayer. He seems to know how to help her ADHD son stay busy and out of trouble which helps alleviate the single mom's stress and helps Josh feel better about his new home.

As the book progresses we learn more about Josh's biological dad and why Maddie is on the run from him. I love reading about the Amish way of life, their relationships and what’s important to them like God and faith.

Great characters, easy to read book. I liked that it included an epilogue at the end of the book so we could get a glimpse into their lives one year later.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book. I was surprised that Maddie wasn't practicing the Amish faith when we first met her in the book. She has custody of her nephew and is doing the best she can by him, but life is tough for her. Maddie is feeling guilty because she's telling everyone, including her nephew, that her nephew is her son.

Abram is scarred, physically and emotionally, from an event in his childhood. I loved how he wanted to mentor Maddie's nephew and put the experiences of his past to good use. I thought the relationship between Madddie and Abram was well-paced. I enjoyed the bit of suspense that was also included in the story.

If you like Amish fiction, I recommend this book.

This is a must read for anyone that loves a clean, well written, Amish love story. This is the first book I have read by Pamela Desmond Wright, but it certainly won't be my last! I was intrigued from page one and could not put the book down until I completed the entire story! Maddie is on the run from the biological father of her nephew Josh. She wants to raise him within the Amish community, as she and her late sister were raised. She must overcome the emotional battles of her childhood while facing her troubles of the present. Abram Mueller and his family allow her to see what life could be if she learns to trust in God again. Can she finally settle down and raise Josh in the community of Humble, or will she continuing running in fear? Thank you in advance to the author, Pamela Desmond Wright, for providing a complimentary review copy through her street team. A positive review was not required, nor requested, and all words are my own”.

Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright provided an uplifting, sweet love story with a bit of a twist. Maddie Baum is a young woman seeing protection for herself and her nephew, Josh, in the idyllic Wisconsin Amish town of Humble. Upon arriving, she meets Abram Mueller, a kind and faithful Amish bachelor who feels called to help Maddie make a home in Humble. Maddie has roots in the Amish world and her time in Humble draws her back to the Plain faith. Over the course of the story, Maddie and Abram grow closer to one another and to the Lord. Together, they are able to face the danger that comes when Josh’s estranged father returns to claim him.

This was a quick and satisfying read for anyone who enjoys Amish romance. The addition of the threat from Josh’s dad enhances the story and helps bring it to a heart-pounding conclusion.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.

Maddie is a young woman whose twin sister was murdered. Raising her nephew as “her son” because his dad, Josh, was the one who killed her sister, she heads back to her Amish roots and Humble Wisconsin in hiding when she finds out Josh is scheduled to be released. She befriends Abram and he soon discovers there is more to her and her story than she has revealed.

What will Josh do if he finds Maddie and her nephew? Will Maddie trust Abram enough to expand on their relationship? Will her trust and faith in God be enough to sustain her?

I found this book to be engaging and hard to put down. I highly recommend it.

I was given a copy of this book from the author for my honest opinion and review.

This was another Pamela Desmond Wright book which I again devoured in one sitting and refused to put it down. I should like to thank Pamela for my ARC ebook which I couldn't wait to read. The gorgeous cover only adds to the book and hides the beautifully written words of the story inside. I truly loved meeting the Amish community in Humble Wisconsin and I so look forward to traveling back there in Pamela's next book in this series. I felt that I was there. That I knew these people personally and felt all their emotions with them. Wonderfully realistic characters. Yes, I would like to have friends like the people in this community with a terrific Bishop leading them. He was a good leader, preacher, friend and teacher. Accepting and welcoming the Bishop was one of my favorite characters. Pamela again brought a very real problem to the forefront, that of ADHD. So well researched and so accurate, thank you Pamela for giving us a look into the condition and how it not only affects the person with the condition but also affects those around them...the immediate family, the neighborhood, community etc. Josh and all the youngies stole my heart. If you are a lover of Amish fiction please get acquainted with the Humble community. You will enjoy your visit. If you have never read an Amish fiction book then this would be a great one to start with. It has enough drama, romance, family situations and so much more to keep a reader enthralled from the very first word to the last. Once again a thank you to Pamela Desmond Wright for my ARC copy and I promise this is my own honest thoughts and feelings in this review. I know this is another book I will want to read again and again so thank you Pamela for writing it and allowing me to be a part of your journey.

Thank you in advance to the author, Pamela Desmond Wright, for providing a complimentary review copy through her launch team. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.

This is still a fairly new Love Inspired author, and I hope to see more of her work, especially after reading this book.

Don’t get me wrong, the first book – The Cowboy’s Amish Haven – was a solid debut. This book – this was definitely a fantastic sophomore follow-up.

As of note, her first book is the first in the Texas Amish Brides series, and this is book #1 of Humble Blessings. The reason? Timing. This was the first book the author wrote, but had to put it aside due to editing issues. The first book sold, then this one did … and, I’m VERY grateful it did. While this is the first book, it can act as a standalone – though I am hoping it doesn’t.

The cover is pretty interesting and does make the book a VERY interesting read. Interesting in a good way. More on that though …

Let’s just say, the back cover grabbed me and I definitely HAD to read it:

🪦 Murdered sister (twin one at that)
🚓 Criminal brother-in-law
🏠 Hiding Out

While that could be a suspense novel, this one isn’t. It has some element to keep it interesting, but the soul of the book are the characters who are richly diverse:

💕 Maddie – a single Englisch mother

👦🏻 Josh – Maddie’s “son” (really nephew)

👒 Mrs. Graff – Amish lady running the boarding house where Maddie and Josh are staying

💕 Abram – One of the single guys, owner of the market, sweet on Maddie and even hires her

🧰 Elam – Abram’s bother. Living as Englisch and car mechanic (I really liked this idea and hope the author keeps it going forward)

👨🏻‍🌾 Amos – Abram’s grandfather, mistrustful of Maddie

And, there are other members of the Amish community as well.

While a Love Inspired story; there might be some concerning or triggering content that is part of the characters’ background: domestic violence, murder of a spouse, non-custodial child kidnapping. The murder and DV take place prior to the start of the story though.

Obviously, when Maggie arrives in Humble, she has some secrets. But, she’s hoping to keep herself and Josh safe. His dad is set to be released from prison. And, given what happened with her sister – Maddie isn’t going to take any chances with the little boy. Josh has a hard time adjusting – tantrums are a common occurrence – some end up on the destructive side. Josh seems unwilling to accept being in Humble, that is until the boy has a run-in with Amos Mueller and his grandson Abram.

Abram instantly takes an interest in Maddie and her son. Amos is standoffish. He doesn’t trust Maddie. He has a feeling about her – she’s hiding something. She is, but it isn’t what Amos thinks.

Abram suggests bringing Josh to one of their events. Despite Josh’s tantrum and not enjoying the idea right off, he ends up going and having a good time leading to more “Amish” interactions. This is no ordinary community though. They have their Ordnung, but they are relaxed, thus immediately making Maddie feel at home. Even Josh begins to perk up. I loved how both the Amish and Englisch interacted together for “social functions”. Josh starts speaking of an interest in being Amish as well.

After an incident with Mrs. Graff, Abram comes up with a suitable alternative to childcare for Josh. Unlike most kids, Josh relishes the “work” Abram gives him. Maddie is trying to find her faith, but feels she can’t because of the lies.

Abram enjoys spending time with both Maddie and Josh – the only two who seem to look past his scars. Scars he’s carried from being a rebellious youngie himself.

But, his grandfather worries about him being led astray. While Abram does spend time with Maddie and Josh – it is, considered in their community, a bit scandalous.

Abram nor Maddie intend to fall for each other – yet, what would a romance be without some, well … romance?

There are some problems – Abram won’t leave (and has no desire to), and Maddie isn’t sure she can go back to the Amish faith, but doesn’t rule it out though.

Then … there is Josh’s father in a story arc that was dynamic and edgy.

Yet, the author wrapped up the story before the end of the book in a way that wasn’t forced or rushed. It definitely had a sweet ending as well as an inspirational message.

Wright packed in a lot of interesting drama, but kept it light in the telling of it. There were some humorous moments as well. If I weren’t in the middle of packing, I likely could’ve read this straight through with only a few stops. I definitely struggled to put it down. The chapters are shorter than the usual Love Inspired book.

The story really moved along without rushing. It was a faster pace one, or so it seemed due to how far I’d read in each sitting.

I had to laugh at a few moments in the book – Elam when assessing Maddie’s poor Chevy. My mom and I had a Toyota Corolla-Tercel in about the same condition back some 21+ years ago.

Then, there was Rolf who told Abram “a wife isn’t going to drop from the sky”. I think I laughed way too hard at that.

Overall, despite all the characters, I had to pick Abram as the hero of the story – especially with Josh. The kid’s tantrums had me seething. But, Abram’s solutions were definitely unique and I hadn’t expected the turnaround in Josh’s behavior.

I think it is safe to surmise that I thoroughly enjoyed this.

There are going to be references to God (Gott), religious observances, church attendance, as well as the Amish Ordnung. The uniqueness definitely raises it up as a must-read.

I sincerely want to see more stories from Wright, particularly in Humble. I’d like Texas as well.

Those who enjoy Amish fiction won’t be disappointed.

What a quick and charming read! What first grabbed me overall was the setting. Humble sounds so picturesque! The imagery is so wonderful that it made me wish I could go visit myself. My admiration quickly turned to sorrow as I read the woes of Maddie Baum. Losing her twin, having to run away from home to protect her nephew (who just happens to be quite the handful himself) and settling in a new place would make a lesser woman crack, but Maddie is made of pretty strong stuff.

Abram is quick to notice the pretty newcomer to Humble and the pair quickly strike up a friendship, Abram going above and beyond to help the single mother. The deeper Maddie gets into the hardworking Amish community, the harder it becomes for her to keep living with this deception, but how can she explain her motivations?

It’s not hard to side with Maddie. Anyone in their right mind would’ve done the same, protecting their relatives at all cost. It’s also not hard to fall in love with Abram. The man truly has a heart of gold and seeing their friendship grow was delightful, but what really charmed the pants off me was how he took Josh under his wing, connecting to the little boy in ways that Maddie couldn’t.

The mystery surrounding Josh’s dad was an unspoken tension throughout, which provided the perfect amount of suspense, and the overall feel had such a refreshing vibe. I read this almost in one sitting and was sad to see it end. With an idyllic setting and swoony characters you will not be disappointed when you read Finding Her Amish Home.

Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright
What she wants more than anything
Could also be the most dangerous…
After her twin sister’s death, Maddie Baum flees to Wisconsin Amish country with her nephew in tow in the hopes of protecting him from his criminal father.
Befriending Amish shopkeeper Abram Mueller gives her a glimpse of the happiness she’s been yearning for all along. Can she find a fresh start with Abram—or will old sins tear them apart?
This is Maddie Baum and Abram Mueller's story.
Inhaling the scent of freshly baked bread, Maddie Baum pressed a hand to her middle. Her stomach rumbled, reminding her lunchtime had come and gone.
She’d been so busy unpacking that she’d forgotten to eat breakfast. “Would you like to try this brot?”
Maddie glanced at the girl working behind the counter. Perhaps seventeen, the young lady was clad in a plain but crisply ironed dress.
The younger man greeted her with a serious expression. “Glad you’re here, ma’am,” he said, adjusting the frames of black-rimmed glasses.
“I’m Abram Mueller, and this is my groossdaadi Amos.” Gaze pinging from the old man’s frown to Josh’s puffy face, Maddie struggled to keep her composure. “What’s happened?”
The old man thumped his cane on the ground. “The boi has stolen from me,” he said. “Have ye not taught the child thou shalt not steal?”
I recommend reading.
Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Pamela Desmond Wright.

I thought maybe a 'new' (to me) Love, Inspired author would be a good bet.
It wasn't.

And I should've heeded the red flags of her acknowledgments - if the author gushes about her editors and publishers - MELISSA ENDLICH and TAMELA MURRAY... run away. Those two quit caring about what they put to print for over a decade, now. It's *ALL* crap, from them, anymore. This included.

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's a GREAT story... if you like bad parenting, garbage storylines, and ridiculous writing. I can't stand it when the main character lacks in any grace, intelligence, and/or decency. She just lets her son pitch screaming fits, run off anywhere they go, treat people with absolute disrespect...

... and she's lying to him about being his 'mom', too. WHAT is inspirational about *ANY* of this?!?!?

More, WHAT child protection service would *EVER* give custody over to a newly released ex-con murderer? This isn't even a storyline, hello. It's absolute rubbish. And if she wanted to distance from that guy, WHY would she wait until he's released to hit the road, instead of establishing herself somewhere from the get-go?

And it's preposterous to think that she has a super-cheap apartment that comes with laundry privileges *AND* all of the meals provided for her. Maybe in make-believe La-La land, but... seriously? Let's write something at least grounded in some sort of reality.

It was horrible. I didn't even finish it. I'm just tossing it, and moving on.
There are nearing a thousand Amish 'Love, Inspired' books, now.
Read Patricia Davids, or Emma Miller. NOT this.

Finding Her Amish Home by Pamela Desmond Wright is book 1 of her New Order Amish Community series. Maddie Baum and her son Josh move to Humble, Wisconsin from Philadelphia. Although she is not amish, she was raised amish in her youth. She meets Abram Mueller at the market. Both are very attracted to each other yet many obstacles stand in their way. They both have secrets. I loved this story. This is my 2nd book by Pamela Desmond Wright. She has a way of drawing you into her story. Before you know it, hours have passed and you’ve finished the book. She’s created a world you want to get lost in and she knows how to make you forget that you are actually reading. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters of Humble. I liked meeting Abram’s big family. They were all so accepting of Maddie and Josh. Well, most everyone. LOL I love learning about the amish community and their simpler ways. Truly this was a great book. It had a little bit of everything. It had some action. It had faith. It had drama. It had romance. It had tears both happy and sad. Not much else you could want from a good story. I promise you won’t be disappointed by Maddie and Abram’s love story. You won’t be disappointed with Pamela Desmond Wright either. I hope you’ll give this one a chance. It’s definitely a good one. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my own!

Finding Her Amish Home is written by Pamela Desmond Wright. It is a Love Inspired book. This is book number one in the Humble Blessings Series. Maddie Baum flees to the New Order Amish Community in Humble Wisconsin with her nephew, Josh, after her twin sister is murdered. She wants to keep her nephew safe at all costs. His father is a criminal and just not a safe person for her nephew. Maddie does not realize that maybe the simple way of life is what she needs.

Amish shopkeeper Abram Mueller hires Maddie to work in his shop. He is single and begins to be sweet on Maddie. He is a likable character. However, his grandfather, Amos senses that maybe Maddie is not good for him. He senses that she is hiding something. Amos is worried that Abram will leave the Amish faith.
This book had a nice blend of characters. They are likable and real feeling. I loved how this Amish Community socialized with non Amish. The story is well written. This book does touch on domestic violence. However, this is a Love Inspired story and it is done so tastefully. This book contains several great lessons in forgiveness, patience, grace and God’s restoration. It is a beautifully written book.
Thank You to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

Set in the New Order Amish community of Humble, Wisconsin, Finding Her Amish Home is a powerful beginning to the Humble Blessings series. This emotionally rich story of friendship, faith, and finding love and a place to belong kept me engaged through its entirety. The well-crafted plot flows smoothly at a fitting pace. I could “feel” the story as I read thanks to Ms. Desmond’s fluent, expressive style. The compelling characters become like friends. I have added Maddie and Abram to my Favorite Fictional Couples list! Sweet romance along with a touch of suspense and a strong faith element make for a well-rounded, satisfying reading experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this touching, entertaining book and recommend it especially for readers who enjoy Amish fiction.

Maddie took her nephew to the store with her. While she was talking to the clerk the boy wanders away found by two Amish mem. The boy was stealing.
She had lost her wallet and the one Amish man Abram paid for her groceries and put them in her car.
Her sister married the wrong man and he was a liar and a thief. He killed her and went to jail when the boy Josh was a baby. And was raised by Maddie. He only knew her as his mother.
She took the boy and went to a Amish town. She rented an apartment upstairs. Josh didn't want to leave his friends. He acted out.
When she was putting her groceries away she found her wallet she had left home when she went to the store.
Abram invited her and Josh to a outing with his family. When she started to leave her car wouldn't start.so she had to leave it there. Abram brother worked on it.
Josh found some new friends.
Please read this book It's fantastic.
I highly recommend it.
