ONLY RAGE (A Sadie Price FBI Suspense Thriller) is book #2 in a chilling new series by mystery and suspense author Rylie Dark, which begins with ONLY MURDER (book #1).
Special Agent Sadie Price, a 29-year-old rising star in the FBI’s BAU unit, stuns her colleagues by requesting reassignment to the FBI’s remote Alaskan field office. Back in her home state, a place she vowed she would never return, Sadie, running from a secret in her recent past and back into her old one, finds herself facing her demons—including her sister’s unsolved murder—while assigned to hunt down a new serial killer.
FBI Special Agent Sadie Price has barely recovered from her last case when she is assigned to an urgent, new one: a gruesome discovery has revealed women are turning up dead, their bodies found in the cargo holds of fishing boats, half-eaten by crabs.
Sadie, stuck for the winter and here to stay, must form a tenuous alliance with Sheriff Logan Cooper and the local bar owner if she is to penetrate the icy wall of outcast locals. Exploring the harbor and the crusty workers who inhabit it, Sadie needs answers to this seemingly unsolvable string of murders—and to the mysteries of her own past.
Suspects abound in the remote and unforgiving landscape. But this is no garden variety killer, and hunting him down may end up a bridge too far even for a brilliant agent like Sadie. In a deadly game of cat and mouse, can Sadie prove herself a match for this killer?
Or will he prove to be her undoing?
An action-packed page-turner, the SADIE PRICE series is a riveting crime thriller, jammed with suspense, surprises and twists and turns that you won’t see coming. It will have you fall in love with a brilliant and scarred new character, while challenging you, amidst a barren landscape, to solve an impenetrable crime.

Was hoping this series would get better, as the first novel was rough for me...BUT it just didn't bring anything NEW to the table for this genre...just couldn't hold my attention
Read this as a palate cleanser for The Deepest Black. Kind of the usual female FBI angst with a sister that died in book one and will probably stretch out the cause until the last of the series- hate that!
It's a gimmick to get you to read subsequent books. Can't we discover the truth and move on with a bit stronger character?
1.5, marginally better than the first, a more intriguing story that's darker and grittier, but still no character progression beyond a bad romance arc i'm forced to sit through.
I am working on the review for this book and series. I did enjoy the series overall but it was serial killer after serial killer in each story all within a very short time period. My review will be copied on all of the stories with a minor variation based on the story line.
The MCs always lose their weapons and each story has them near death. The answers are always stumbled on and the police work was not relevant. To top it off, no evidence can be used to prosecute as the h never followed rules of evidence.
Go in by yourself in a TSTL way to get killed or obtain evidence without a chain of custody... Check!
Make assumptions and ignore obvious signs that you are with the bad guy... Check
Go into bad areas without backup and without telling anyone... Check
No need to worry though as the bad guys will not get a trial.
I do think that the author has talent and hope that she gets lots of feedback to improve the stories overall. She does not use the standard bad guys and adds unique situations and locations. Work with a Detective to learn about the basics of evidence and what will invalidate it.
Only Rage is a fast-paced story involving different crimes perpetrated by different people. Sadie and Sheriff Cooper work together to solve these cases and avoid any more death happening. Too many secrets are involving the people who work in the harbor and there's something very wrong with the au-pair agency. Things get even more complicated when the au-pair that takes care of a friend's child goes missing. If you enjoy reading stories with a good plot, that are well written, and that have good and entertaining characters you should download this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I downloaded a free copy of this book through BookFunnel and this is my honest opinion.
So, Only Rage is the second book in Rylie Dark’s Sadie Price FBI series, and it keeps the dark, twisty energy going. It picks up with Sadie still wrestling with her sister’s murder while — this time, women turning up dead on fishing boats in Alaska. It’s tense, chilly, and full of that “can’t stop reading even though it’s midnight” vibe. The setting stands out. Alaska feels like a character itself — harsh, isolating, and a little eerie. It adds this constant pressure that matches Sadie’s emotional state, and that worked well for me. Rylie Dark also dives deeper into Sadie’s past here, and you get a stronger sense of what’s driving her. She’s not just solving murders; she’s trying to make sense of her own pain. The pacing is quick — you get twists, turns, and plenty of “wait, what just happened?” moments. It’s a solid page-turner. That said, there are a few small hiccups. The story sometimes feels a bit similar to the first book (Only Murder), with the same haunted-agent-meets-serial-killer structure. And if you’re familiar with Alaska, some of the local details might pull you out of the story — a few readers have said parts didn’t feel quite accurate. Also, Sadie’s personal arc keeps building without resolving yet, so if you like everything wrapped up by the end, this one might leave you hanging a bit. Though, it’s an engaging, moody thriller — perfect if you like crime stories set in remote places, with a strong female lead who’s got just as many internal battles as external ones. It’s not flawless, but it keeps the tension high and makes you want to pick up the next book right away.
TRIGGER WARNING: Caution if sensitive to child pornography and gruesomely described injuries.
Alaska, even Anchorage, feels like no-man's-land and this book takes advantage of that perception. I like the partnership of FBI agent and sheriff. We are so used to these partnerships being combative that I like the way it feels more real in this story by showing the conflicts and reasons why, as well as showing how when it comes time to do some real investigating the two work together well.
It may feel a bit unlikely that the male sheriff keeps his ego in check much of the time, but the world has evolved to some extent so I didn't find it all that false. We also think of the "out back" type places of being more traditional, but I found that this book did justice to the way things really are by giving us a sheriff who struggles with his deeply rooted male viewpoint while feeling compassion and empathy for his FBI companion.
The murders are gruesome and the bad guys more depraved than usual. That part wasn't necessarily pleasurable, but I like the way the investigative part of the story became convoluted, presenting interesting challenges to the law enforcement folks. I have a very active imagination and tend to imagine what I'm reading or being told, which can lead to too much empathy with some of the victims. I found that the way scenes are described in this book made it all too easy for me to "see" what was happening. That cuts both ways - it's a lot of fun for the delightful scenes, but a bit visceral for the ugly scenes.
This series is growing on me. I am enjoying the development of the characters. The dynamic between Sadie and Sheriff Logan Cooper is improving a little at a time, which is good since Sadie only has him as back-up in the remote Alaska field office. The premise of this novel set amidst the harsh backdrop of winter in a fishing village filled with suspects kept my attention. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers with surprise endings, then you don’t want to miss this one! **I received this book in exchange for an honest review. **
I’m not sure if you can describe this book as an easy read or not… the language and storyline yes… the content of the case no. This story is definitely not for the faint hearted it was very gory and graphic at times. Yet I do like the underlying mystery that runs throughout the series. Plus I am really beginning to like the characters.
Do I think it’s the best mystery book ever… no. Do I think the author is great… no. Will I keep reading the series of books… absolutely.

This series is trying really hard, a lot of cliches and thin main characters. The cases are ok enough but I can’t get past how there seems to be about 100 hours per day. The previous book where she gets the artery in her neck punctured and carries on cavorting about for several hours, spends one night in hospital and this book picks up the following day where the first day goes on for 10+ chapters!? Mental.
I’m really enjoying this series! Definitely has a lot of suspense and really sucks you into the case they’re investigating. I liked this book better than the first as we know have more of a gauge on the characters and the sprinkle of some romance was a nice relief to all the crime. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series goes!
Fabulous story. Kept my interest from beginning to end. Sadie Price is a wonderful character. She is tough, yet vulnerable; strong, yet being able to show weakness. I recommend this story and author. She has an avid follower for life, as long as she keeps writing stories like this!!😊
I absolutely love this book and the series about Sadie PRICE. I can’t wait to get another one and continue reading how the story goes.. it was great. I got this book free on Amazon and I’ll buy more of the Sadie PRICE series when they’re free and I have several more by the author Riley dark. Very good writer. I highly recommend her books.
🇫🇷 Comme toujours, Rylie Dark signe un thriller captivant et intense ! Une intrigue pleine de suspense, des personnages profonds et une tension constante. Impossible à lâcher avant la fin !
🇬🇧 As always, Rylie Dark delivers a gripping and intense thriller! A suspenseful plot, deep characters, and nonstop tension. Impossible to put down!
This continued from the first book but with a new serial killer case and Sadie still wanting to learn more about her sister's death. She got more time working with the sheriff and deputy. She finds herself in mortal peril. She is also being investigated for something in a previous case.
I enjoyed this book although I didn't think much of it after all. There was nothing special about the writing, no "wow" factor, but easy to listen to. Yes, this was my first book by this author, I haven't read the first one in the series.
I’m enjoying this series. The narrator is easy to listen to. The characters are very likable and I want to know what happens next! I also enjoy that I wasn’t able to pick out who the murderer was myself! 😂
The best thing I can say is I have read dozens of free first novels in a series and never ever purchased the 2nd novel. I have now purchased books 2 and 3. Great series, well written and fast paced.
This book picks up where the previous book left off and this series should be read in order to keep up with the thread. There is more interaction between the characters and relationships forming. The plot is interesting and before you know it you are to the end and ready to start the next book.
I wish I hadn’t listened to the audio version, maybe I would have liked it better? The audio version is so bad.
I have 2 more audios in this series, bought all 3 on Chirp, price was really low….if the other 2 have the same person for audio I just won’t listen….ugh
## Fast paced and interesting. I had a hard time putting this down. I like that Sadie finally showed some personality in this book. I'm looking forward to the next one!
Another entertaining thriller to occupy my morning work outs and commute. While the immediate mystery of each Sadie Price story is engaging, the long story (her sister’s death) is agonizingly slow.
