When a body is found strung up on the crane of an offshore oil refinery on the Alaskan coast, FBI Special Agent is called in to investigate the suspected work of a serial killer. Against the stormy seas and brutal elements, she soon realizes there’s more to this bleak landscape than meets the eye.
ONLY ONCE (A Sadie Price FBI Suspense Thriller) is book #4 in a chilling new series by mystery and thriller author Rylie Dark, which begins with ONLY MURDER (book #1).
Special Agent Sadie Price, a 29-year-old rising star in the FBI’s BAU unit, stuns her colleagues by requesting reassignment to the FBI’s remote Alaskan field office. Back in her home state, a place she vowed she would never return, Sadie, running from a secret in her recent past and back into her old one, finds herself facing her demons—including her sister’s unsolved murder—while assigned to hunt down a new serial killer.
What seems like a straightforward case quickly embroils Sadie in an international territorial dispute, bringing in multiple agencies and countries and further complicating her investigation.
After a rabbit hole of dead ends, Sadie uses her brilliant mind to think of something no one else has—and another body—and a shocking twist—may just catch her off guard.
But in this stormy wilderness, in the thick of winter, does Sadie have any hope of finding him before it’s too late?
An action-packed page-turner, the SADIE PRICE series is a riveting crime thriller, jammed with suspense, surprises and twists and turns that you won’t see coming. ## Almost couldn't finish. I had to force myself to do it. I really liked the first 3 books, but this one was so boring. So dull. Not only did it take me 5 days to finish it, but I read another book in between. I have never done that. But I needed some action, some feeling. Sadie is just so BLAH. The second star is for the small progress made with Sadie & Cooper's relationship. Sorry I can't recommend this one.
Least favorite of the series. Annoying that the British Feds were brought in as characters and that Sadie and Cooper didn't work the case together. Felt drug on
Another great book! Every woman, well except me, I don’t much care for bruises, wants to be Sadie Price & every man, though a bit afraid, wants to bed her!! It’s been a constant tug between Logan & Sadie of will they or won’t they and you’re not getting any spoilers out of me!! Read the book!! You’ll enjoy it!! It’s a fast read!! Two days tops & that’s if you have to work or take care of a family & can’t just toss something in the microwave or order a pizza cause you really won’t want to put this book down!! I’m beginning to sound like a broken record here!! I promise I’m going to take a break from Rylie Dark after the end of this series, maybe read a cozy mystery… ha ha ha… yeah right!!! I will read another author but it’ll be a murder myster/thriller cause I’m doing research…and that’s why I listen to all the crime podcasts too…research, just simple research!!! Read the whole dang series already!! You won’t regret it!!!
Only Once by Rylie Dark is a fast-paced FBI thriller that’s all about tension and emotion. It follows Agent Sadie Price as she investigates a murder that ends up connecting to her own past, which gives the story a nice personal edge. The writing’s quick and cinematic — short chapters, constant movement, and plenty of cliffhangers that keep you hooked. It’s more about the suspense and drama than deep character development, but that’s kind of the point. If you like crime thrillers that move fast and keep you guessing, this one hits the mark. It’s not trying to reinvent the genre, but it’s a solid, easy read — perfect if you’re in the mood for something dark and gripping without having to think too hard. It feels like the kind of story you’d binge the way you’d binge a crime show on Netflix.
In Only Once, Sadie has to deal with a new partner with little experience in the field and some horrible crimes that are happening on oil rigs, if it were not enough, she also gets involved in an international dispute and has to deal with Scotland Yard agents. There are suspects, leads, a territorial dispute between the two agencies, twists, and turns full of action that grip the reader's attention from the beginning providing a few hours of very good entertainment. As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Rounded up from 1.5 stars. Would have abandoned it entirely but since you have to go through the entire series, before you find out all of the pieces surrounding Sadie‘s sister’s murder, I had to suffer through it. It better be worth it in the long run, because listening to this book was several hours of my life. I’ll never get back.
What a fabulous book! So engaging! So suspenseful! It was so difficult to put this book down for any length of time. The characters come alive every time I read the Sadie Price novels. I am hooked for life!
This series gets better and better every book. The plot twisted and turned and the ending was a total surprise. The writing style is easy to read and the pages just fly by. The people are real and now feel like they are acquaintances and friends. I will be sad to reach the end of this series.
Another great story to keep you on the edge of your seat. However, it would seem that after Price’s previous brushes with death, she should be a bit more aware of the dangers around herself.
Book 4 didn't disappoint. Sadie is one heck of an FBI agent and knows when a case isn't exactly solved and is willing to go through the lengths to close a case.
