Whoo... pretty rough. The art is, well, bad. The pacing is wonky and inconsistent even in this first issue, which bodes ill for the rest. However, there are a few things to like, characters I get a kick out of seeing. A few fun jabs at the Loyal Competition. Not much else.

I’ve always been a big fan of multiverse stories but invariably they can be derivative and bland. If it goes bad you get Convergence or The Button. This is however a lot of fun and very enjoyable. Very much worth the elevated price tag

I just finished the entire 5-issue run. It felt like an “already told” story and it didn’t make that much justice to its Infinite Frontier predecessor, but still it had its highlights.
The art was a bit all over the place and that took away some of the needed consistence. It didn’t help to its cause that the plot was a bit random, and it was pretty obvious that the writer didn’t know what to do with some characters, such as Aquawoman or Mary Marvel.
I wasn’t expecting Captain Carrot to have some of the good one liners, when most of the dialogue seemed a bit off.
I wasn’t trying to be this negative, but I guess I had bigger expectations with this series after enjoying Infinite Frontier.
All in all, I’m still interested about where this is leading.

Beginning where Infinite Justice ended this series opens on Earth-8 in NYC at tower of the super team known as The Retaliators, who are essentially a version of The Avengers. I was amused by the Hulk-like member named Big Baby who is a giant blue skinned man. They are surprised by super heroine Doctor Multiverse who brings to them Machinehead's head/helmet. right before the team is attacked by a villain named Tartarus and his army.
Cut to President Superman and the Thomas Wayne Batman who are watching the female version of the Flash take on a super villain named Replicant in Beijing, China on Earth-0 in order to recruit her onto their team to "save Barry Allen and the multiverse". The best line belongs to Batman when he says "This is why I hate working with teams". The two use a boom tube to send themselves to The House of Heroes and introduce Flash to the other members like Aquawoman from Earth-11, Captain Carrot from Earth-26, Thunderer from Earth-7, and Dino-Cop from Earth-41. Flash is filled in on what transpired prior knowing that they have to find Barry and fix the crack in the multiverse before Darkseid and his minions get to him.
President Superman, Batman, Captain Carrot and the Flash transport to Earth-8 and find it devastated from the battle between The Retaliators and Tartarus' army. They are blamed for the destruction and death by hero Silver Eagle who mentions that Machinehead made a deal with the Psycho Pirate in order to prevent future crisis-type events. What Silver Eagle didn't know was how Pirate was being controlled by Darkseid. The group is attacked by Tartarus and his army until Darkseid appears via a Grandfather Box and kills Tartarus. The heroes manage to destabilize the crack in the multiverse foiling Darkseid's plan to claim it. Darkseid teleports away and Flash gets a pep talk from Doctor Multiverse.
Orion shows up at The House of Heroes and tells the team monitoring events there that he is the only one who can take down Darkseid, but unbeknownst to him he was being tracked by some of Darkseid's minions.
Pretty solid set-up from Williams for the opening salvo in this layered multiverse series with a lot of characters, moving parts, and action. Three different artists throughout which was kind of jarring, but in a way it sort of fits how all over this series is.

SPOILERS:

This was a great first issue, although it does follow the story started in "Infinite Frontier." This issue has a special focus on Earth-8, which is DC's version of the Marvel Universe. The Thanos analogue (Tartarus) has attacked, and the Avenger equivalents (the Retaliators) are losing when the Justice League Incarnate shows up, followed by Darkseid. We then get to see Darkseid vs. Thanos, to find out which is tougher, and since this is a DC book, the outcome shouldn't be a surprise.

Also, Doctor Multiverse of Earth-8 debuts in this issue.

I'm all in on this story but can we stop with the artist changes every 3 pages?

Well I am confused. Of course that may be because we are dealing here with heroes from across the DC Multiverse. Some I know, some I think I know and some I have no idea who they are. Mind you, just because I am confused doesn't mean I didn't enjoy this issue. It was rather an action packed issue mind you, but then this type of story, which is really designed to move some sort of company wide event onwards, just require a lot of character developement. The overall villain would seem to be Darkseid. Interestingly after he leaves his troops show up but it seems the two events are not connected. As well Darkseid's son Orion, who is also his major enemy, shows up to lead the heroes. All in all this looks to be a major event. As you will note I gave this five stars. Among other reasons is that it would appear that Captain Carrot is a main character in this series. All five issue of this comic have been collected in one volume. I suggest that volume will be easier to find than the individual issues. Happy reading.

The multiverse is under threat, it must be Tuesday. The multiverse used to be a staple of DC comics, but fell out of favor after the epic Crisis on Infinite Earths. After that DC tried to create a unified continuity and that was the standard for many years.
Recently however a new generation of writers has embraced the concept of the multiverse which leads us to Justice League Incarnate a team of heroes gathered from various parallel worlds to help heal a crack threatening the multiverse.
I like this mix of heroes especially since it features Val Zod, Superman of Earth 23 and Thomas Wayne Batman from the Flashpoint story along with several heroes from alternate earths.

DEATH METAL has ended and the era of the Infinite Frontier has been rolling strong with loads of new series and Miniseries.

The main story in Infinite Frontier #0 continued in the 6 issue Infinite Frontier Miniseries and with that ended we continue the story in Justice League Incarnate miniseries and yet to be announced 2022 series.

Infinite Frontier started so strong and I genuinely feel Justice League Incarnate #1 is a weak start for this new mini, but strong enough that I'm excited to see it through.

It was a good beginning to a complicated story. DC has pushed the multi-verse for a while now and while it makes for interesting plots it can take away from developing good characters. Having both in a team book this big takes time and I can see the Flash becoming a more interesting person. I am excited to see what will happen next.n

I'm an absolute sucker for random Multiversal teams so this could have sucked hard, and I'd have loved it. Luckily it was really solid, though. Kinda wish it was an on-going series, or at least a maxi.
