The first five issues of Ms. Marvel's new series are a planetary romance that I wasn't a huge fan of because it took Ms. Marvel away from Jersey City as well as removed her parents' memory of her secret identity. I enjoyed the next five issues and annual a good deal more because they had her grapple with her father's illness. Ms. Marvel is always at her best when she's struggling with her family and existing supporting cast. Sadly, I feel like the book is unwilling to deal with most of what the previous book excelled at with their well-written characters and their slow but steady progression.
Spoilers So Kamala’s mum tells her dad she’s a hero. They all go to the planet saffa to save the people there from the beast legions. They all get sent back but her parents forget she is a hero. Turns out both of Kams parents have inhuman genes.
