Having read Nick's first book "The Self-improver" which was very entertaining, this book was even more compelling to read. The story telling is excellent, with good pace, both funny and serious events drawing the reader further into the world of aviation.
It is hard sometimes to believe so many unusual events could happen to one person so I checked and sure enough the stories are there if you try a google search.
An inspiration to us all, especially to fellow pilots who recognize some of his struggles.
It is also a lesson that we should never take ourselves too seriously, even if we have a hugely responsible job, and always look out for others and their well-being.
I would say that these two aviation books are the most enjoyable I have read.

Excellent read

This account of a fascinating career is well paced and self deprecating with humour.
The accounts of the training captains make them sound like aerial versions of Captain Bligh. Totally unreasonable.

How Nick managed to bite his tongue in the face of such appallingly unnecessary behaviour I don’t know.

I liked it

Well written and easy to read. Interesting story about a life flying Jumbo jets. It shows how much the world has changed over the last few decades.
