Such a wonderful read. As a parent to a child with adhd and myself having it as well, I completely relate. The author did an amazing job conveying this! Hyper focus can be a super power! Love the pictures and story line! Well done
I enjoyed reading this book. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and they pull you in right away. The big eyes and smile of Kid remind me of my daughter, who has ADHD. When she gets a happy and bright idea in her head, I see her light up joyfully, and I can see her processing all of the thoughts that rush through her head, much like Kid in the story. The author does a fantastic job of walking the reader through what a day is like for a hyperfocused child.
"This Kid Can Focus" is an easy read for educators, parents, and grandparents alike. There are also free downloadable resources available on their website, https://www.sensinggreatness.com.
I have ADHD and so do my two kids, this book was so relatable! Sometimes you just HAVE to do something no matter what, we call that “hyper focusing” among ADHDers.
Kid is an adorable little goat that is hyper focused on making everyone laugh and be happy - tickling, jumping, pretending to fly - Kid sure is an active little one! The thing that makes this book extra special is how all the other animals accepted Kid for being who they were and joined in on the fun. Everyone had a great time, including me and my kiddos.
I was drawn to this book by the title alone; I love all books that relate to disabilities, and the "Hyperfocus" part made me immediately think of ADHD. When I found out that the author herself is neurodivergent, I got super excited to read it! This book centers around the gifts that come along with having ADHD, and the illustrations were absolutely adorable! I loved them all! This would be a wonderful book to read with any child!!! I also loved all the kid references- kidding around, etc. They made me laugh out loud.
My daughter has Down Syndrome, these types of stories about differences make me happy to read. This sweet story is about a cute goat named Kid who has ADHD. He wants to make all the farm animals smile, and does so by being his silly self. Embracing these quirks is what makes this a fun read. Also I can “Hyperfocus” so I could relate too, however I do not have ADHD, I like things done in a timely fashion. The illustrations are beautifully drawn and vibrant, which brings this book to life.
First of all, I love that this kid is actually a kid! ☺️
Fun, happy book that is sure to bring a smile to your child’s face. The illustrations are AMAZING and definitely add to the pleasure of reading this book. The focus of Kid’s day is to make others smile. He gets very busy and definitely makes it happen. Pure joy! It will be one of your child’s favorites.
This book is such a treat to read. My daughters loved the animals and the message that the kid was trying to make everyone laugh and smile. The illustrations are so cute and inviting. As a teacher who works with students with ADHD, I think this is such a wonderful book that highlights strengths. This is truly a lovely book that I’d definitely recommend.
This is a delightful book about a little goat who gets easily distracted and therefore has a hard time finishing things. He learns that when he pictures his idea and focuses on it, he can follow through with what he sets his mind to. Kids will love his funny personality and what he does to make all the other animals in the farm laugh.
A true friend knows when you need a little lift in life! It takes a true friend to put themselves aside and take the time to make sure that you are ok and put a smile on your face, with laughter! Laughter is truly good for the soul and this book makes it really easy for any child to understand that concept. Job well done!
This kid was on a mission to make his friends smile. He wanted to make his friends happy. He had to decide what to do to make his friends smile and be happy. This is a great example of friendship. The illustrations were colorful and detailed. The illustrations were beautiful. I love the book cover. I give this book five stars.
Kid has just one focus, to make all his friends and family on the farm smile and laugh again.
This is a delightful little book with bright illustrations that seems to have the aim of encouraging children to focus on one task and do it to the best of their ability.
We join Kid on the farm, with a mission to make his friends smile and laugh! Kid thinks hard about many different ways to achieve this goal, and it's enjoyable to watch Kid use their skills! This book celebrates the beauty of neurodiversity and great for both children and adults to understand and therefore appreciate differences.
I just loved this book. It highlights the positives of ADHD without even mentioning it. I love that. It made me smile and the illustrations are just gorgeous.
Cute book about a very energetic kid goat and his adventures on the farm. The story and the illustrations sweetly captured the emotions and enthusiasm of all the animal characters.
I love so much about this book. After reading just the first few pages my kid looked at me and said, this sounds like me. One of my favorite things is that the author is able to describe ADHD without ever mentioning the word ADHD.
This book is awesome. It’s about a pig that has a deep desire to make those around him fell happiness. Each animal that he encounters he will do something amazing or silly to see how they respond. The author reminds us that we can do small things to cheer others up!
As an educator, I think this charming book is perfect for the classroom. So many students can identify with the main character and begin to see their differences as a strength. The illustrations are engaging and make this an easy book to pick up for class readalouds.
Every parent with children, and every child, should have and read this book. Teaching children to love themselves is beyond important, and so rewarding!
This book is an excellent story that highlights ADHD without ever mentioning the word. It is able to do so in a way that is positive and fun too. Highly recommend. Have no idea how anyone could give this less than 5 stars unless they don't understand ADHD.
Great book to help explain hyperfocusing to an ADHD child!
I’m ADHD and I found out that a lot of people don’t understand what hyperfocusing is. I think this is really awesome that this ADHD Author is bring awareness to ADHD and she’s doing it with goats. I LOVE goats. They’re so cute.
