Hitoshi Iwaaki (Japanese: 岩明均 Hepburn: Iwaaki Hitoshi, born July 28, 1960) is a Japanese manga artist, whose works include the science-fiction/horror series Parasyte. The Mixx editions of Parasyte romanize his name as "Hitosi Iwaaki", while the Del Rey Manga editions use "Hitoshi Iwaaki".
In 1993, he received the Kodansha Manga Award for Parasyte. He was a finalist for the 2005 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Grand Prize for Historie. In 2010 Historie took the grand prize in the manga division of the 2010 Japan Media Arts Festival.
Although I did read the original Parasyte series, I mostly picked up this tribute volume for the story by Moto Hagio, which was very good. I liked a couple others as well, although MH's was best, and also first -- I kinda felt like the editor knew and arranged them in descending order of quality. Although I did like Takatoshi Kumakura's, which was near the end, so maybe that was coincidence.
The second tribute based on the classic(I guess it could be consider classic by now in manga terms) work of Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki. I should warn readers that if you have not read the original books that Parasyte has a theme revolving around entities possessing hosts and devouring the base creature's species (in most cases humans) so if the though of humans being murdered or eaten makes you uneasy then by all means avoid this series although you will be missing a story questioning who the real monsters are.
Included in this volume you can find twelve short stories from different mangaka to show their affection to the original work in their own ways(so you can get mad at stories or hate them if you want but remember differences of opinion and how people show respect is different from person to person.) For me as soon as I saw Hiro Mashima did a story it was the first one I opened up being a big fan of Fairy Tail and had a good chuckle at the decidedly more light-hearted take on the Parasyte franchise before reading the rest in order. I am sure whoever reads this volume will find their own favorites too. :)
As for a favorite moment I kinda like the old man in "Eat it Tonight, Too" who is so obsessed with eating healthy that he forgets to grow older at times and even shows his parasyte ability to his grandson just to get an excited young man asking him how he did that but not deciding to eat him. :)
An omnibus manga based on Parasyte by 12 different authors. Like other Japanese manga I have read, this book opens the opposite way that we are used to. As with omnibus books, there are stories in it which I like and ones which I didn't. I liked the more realistic ones such as The Stranger and The Perfect Soldier and wished they were long and didn't really enjoy ones like the first one such as Through Yura's Gate, which I thought was too long and didn't pack a good story. Personal preference is that I like the comics which are easy to read and follow (as opposed to highly stylized or fantastically drawn ones). This is definitely a Your Mileage May Vary omnibus.
I guess this is just a collaboration with tons of different artists which they each made a tiny comic showing the parasites.some I didn't like some i liked.over all ehhh I wasn't impressed.
Neo Parastye M published by Kodansha is a manga by various mangakas from around Japan. It's comprised of short stories all taking place in the Parasyte world, originally created by Hitoshi Iwaaki. This manga had some stories that were a hit and some that were a miss, most of them were a hit.
My favorite stories were "Through Yara's Gate" by Moto Hagio, "Eat It Tonight, Too" by Moare Ohta, "Granny's Regrets" by Takayuki Takeya, "The Strange One" by Takatoshi Kumakura, "The Perfect Soldier" Ryouji Minagawa, "Edible" Hiroki Endo, and "Chinless Gen and I are Parasites" by Akria Hiramoto.
There were a few stories that I didn't like at all, but overall I liked most of the stories in this anthology. The few stories I didn't like focused on sex and I just didn't find them interesting or entertaining in the least bit.
Overall this was an enjoyable read, I'm giving this 4 stars out of 5
Now ParaSyte M is a revival and tribute to a story collection published about 20 years ago. Each story has a human parasite as its main character usually debating on consuming or inhabiting a human host. The first several part stomped is about a girl who grows up in a hospital and hears voices telling her to kill. Those stories were so good I felt I’d give the book a five and read more of the series. That died with each successive chapter. The book’s collection rapidly goes south folllowed by really bad or poor stories. In the end I was glad to stop reading. The book ended up with a two from me.
I really loved parasyte but i didnt really love this. This is a collection of Parasyte themed stories with some new characters and old with a fresh story from various Mangakas throughout. Some were good some werent imo. I dont regret my purchase though it is a cool collection, i just didnt love all the stories.
This is the pinnacle of what non-cannon stories should be. It adds new characters to the universe that are very well rounded, instead of feeling like a fanfiction characters. Even the story insertions in the original Devilman series feel well placed. Compared to the previous novel, this one is less experimental.
Delving now into the details of each story, Masuro's tale didn't obstruct the linearity of the original Devilman series and added a unique twist on time loops. Anne's tale delves into a devilman whose lost his humanity, which is unique as well in a universe where there are usually either good Devilman and evil demons/devilbeasts. Eurynome went deeper than Akira's own confliction on his being and displayed a man debating his humanity. And Aiziwa's tale is perfectly placed in the timeline, and again shares that special attribute of Devilman endings...
The cat story was weak in comparison to the rest of the stories. Overall, this volume full of amazing tales.
Update 21 May 2019 Five stars to four stars. I have come to the following ratings for each individual chapter:
Chapter One (fifty-seven pages): Four Stars Chapter Two (thirty pages): Five Stars Chapter Three (fifty-nine pages): Two Stars Chapter Four (sixty-five pages): Four Stars Chapter Five (fifty-six pages): Five Stars
The cumulative rating is 3.88, which lowers the rating of the volume to four stars.
September 1, 2019 Update With the adoption of my new rating system, a four star rating is befitting. The original review and rating updates conform to the new rating system. I have skimmed through "Neo Devilman 2" online to remind myself of this volume's content. The chapter ratings in the May 21, 2019, rating update, is accurate, but I would lower chapter one's rating to three stars. The corrected calculations would go as follows:
Chapter One (fifty-seven pages): Three stars Chapter Two (thirty pages): Five stars Chapter Three (fifty-nine pages): Two stars Chapter Four (sixty-five pages): Four stars Chapter Five (fifty-six pages): Five stars
The cumulative rating is 3.68 stars, which allows for the volume to retain a four star-rating.
September 20, 2019 Update Here are chapter descriptions to understand the ratings better:
Chapter One: Time Travelling Boy and his Grandfather Chapter Two: Holocaust-Survivor-Turned-Devilman Chapter Three: Devilman and Catgirl in Hell Chapter Four: Serious Police Officer Finding Devilbeasts Chapter Five: Schoolgirl estranged friend of Akira turned Devilbeast
January 7, 2020 Update I did not explain previously that the art of chapter four was extremely to my liking (four star-rating). It is a crisp, realistic, and reminiscent of comics and manga from the 1990s (or what I believe to be a reflection).
January 10, 2020 Update I have though of lowering the rating of chapter three to one star, but apart from the cat character, I recall everything else in the chapter as OK.

Now…yes. I have read Parasyte, twice in fact. However, I haven’t logged them into my Goodreads account, so that’s why they aren’t on my list (aside from the first full color volume and both Neo Parasyte volumes).
However, as for Neo Parasyte m, while many people aren’t too big on this anthology volume…I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nine out of the twelve stories are really good, with the other three just being ok. Akira Hiramoto’s story in particular made me laugh quite a bit.
If you liked Parasyte, you’d most likely like this anthology. It’s good stuff!
Also, sorry for the short review, but I didn’t want to spoil a lot about Parasyte in this review. So oh well!

01/03/22 Edit: I read Neo Parasyte f the day after finishing this. Since my thoughts are mostly the same with a few more criticism, I won’t be doing a separate review for that. That, and I wanna talk more about Parasyte itself in the future. I hope you understand!
